“Hollywood!”

Will Bucs go “Hollywood?”

Now this would be very interesting.

One of the top wide receivers in the NFL draft, a short but lightning-quick guy with seriously good genes, is bounding around One Buc Palace today.

And that would be “Hollywood” Marquise Brown from Oklahoma per NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport.

Of course, this is one of the 30 private visits the Bucs are allowed to host at One Buc Palace each spring.

No, wide receiver is not a need. But Bucco Bruce Arians craves speed in his receivers, which is one reason the Bucs didn’t bring back their most consistent wide receiver from a year ago, Adam Humphries.

Brown, who is the cousin of Antonio Brown, is roadrunner quick, a tiny guy at 5-9 and 166 pounds. Brown didn’t run at the NFL combine because he was recovering from a foot injury he suffered against Texas in December. In the past, Brown has reportedly been clocked at 4.33 in a 40-yard dash.

The Draft Network projects Brown as a late-first round pick, which may be a bit too high for him but as the report suggests, some team general manager is going to be standing at attention over his speed.

Would the Bucs actually draft Brown in the second round at No. 39 overall?

    Only way I invest in a second round receiver, is if the Bucs trade down in the first and pick up some extra picks. The way QB’s launch up draft boards as the draft approaches, I would bet two go before the Bucs and they have the choice of Allen, Bosa or Williams. If that’s the case, one of those guys should be the choice. Jets are heavily shopping their pick. I won’t be totally shocked if Gruden traded back either. Gonna be a fun draft.

    smokescreen…..

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  3. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

    No since in grabbing a deep threat like hollywood brown when you have a QB that is unable to complete a deep pass, another great licht move. Just like licht drafting press corners to a team that runs a zone scheme….ol jason licht taking pieces of trash and building a bigger landfill

  4. JameisAlmighty! Says:

    Bumphries had to go. DeSean Jackson was the issue, not Jameis. Now that MeJax is gone, watch Jameis throw the ball down the field with ease.

  5. DB55 Says:

    Hollywood would be awesome but somewhat unrealistic however there’s a kid out of Missouri with 4.3 speed and hands as good as Michael Thomas who can easily be drafted on day 2 or maybe day 3. Emmanuel Hall.

  6. sunshine Says:

    Winston is NOT an accurate throwing qb and needs a BIG window to hit a receiver..

  7. Nick2 Says:

    Behind every QB taken #1 is a wide receiver worthy of a first round pick. If we can get him with the 1st pick of round 2 i say pull the trigger. Someone with D Jacks speed without the diva headcase will be music to Jameis’s ears. We still need to stretch the field and Breshard Perriman has been labeled a big bust up to this point.

    Incorrect.

    166 lbs….he’d have to run 2.22 40 for me to take a chance

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

    Round 1- TRENCHES
    Round 2- TRENCHES
    Round 3- DB,S

    WR is beyond a luxury pick, and the Bucs are not in a “luxury” position.

  11. PSLBob Says:

    I thought Perriman, who we acquired via FA, was supposed to be our new speedster who could take the top of a defense. We need to bolster our defense and O line. Hard stop! Forget a WR in the first two rounds, and Brown will be long gone before Round 3.

  12. Buc4evr Says:

    No, just No. The Bucs need a guard or RT to help establish a running game, not another WR this early in the draft.

  13. LynchMob Says:

    All I think of when I hear his name is “hamstring injury.” It’s a pass for me. I agree with Bucsfanman that he is just a luxury pick that we don’t have right now. And there is no way he slips to the point where we could make that pick.

  14. Dapostman Says:

    I really don’t have a good feeling about anything or anyone called ‘Hollywood’.

  15. Dreghost Says:

    Q. Williams/J.Allen/E.olliver/D.white 1st round
    Hollywood/M. Sanders/ best available safety 2nd round
    Guard in the 3rd and i believe that would be a solid draft

  16. DanBucsfan Says:

    Teams bring players in all the time even though they know they probably wont draft them. I believe this is the situation here, however it is interesting & if they do snag him in 2nd round, then welcome aboard Hollywood. In BA we trust.

  17. GhostofSchiano Says:

    Whatever happened to “Chocolate Thunder” from a few drafts ago? Similar size, speed etc. Kenny Bell. I think that was his name. How did that work for us?

  18. Cgmaster27 Says:

    Dusty actually watch a game or two before commenting. Jameis had no problems connecting long at all outside of 1 reciever. But you go ahead and keep pushing that dumb narrative.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Haha, especially when they are related to A.B.
    Good point, Dapostman.
  20. Bob in Valrico Says:
    I think it is more important to get a dynamic running back. Hump caught a lot of wide receiver screens . Hump may have benefitted in ths area because of the few screens thrown to running backs and quite possibly the O line’s inability to block for them properly. He was very good with YAC yards. As far as the most consistent receiver, There is a lot less difficulty completing the shorter passes.
  21. BuccOff Says:
    Actually…what would be VERY interesting would be to NOT cover another diva WR (cosin of A.B.) with a poor wittle broken foot (Lisfranc injury) that will become chronic throughout his career…..that’s visting the Bucs today….BUT INSTEAD…
    Start the day right with the simple FACT that QUINNEN WILLIAMS IS visting the Bucs today!!…per Jordan Schultz at ESPN. Long article on him, maybe go to One Buc Palace to get some goods on QUINNEN being here, etc…feedback after, etc. Yawn, Williams visiting is no surprise. 30 will visit, maybe 3 will be drafted. If Joe or any other media arrived at One Buc Palace today, security would ask what the heck is going on before directing said person to the empty, segregated media room — empty because this isn’t the old days when media was just allowed to show up and walk the grounds without an invite. –Joe
    Now which one of those IS MORE important, to the consensus, and to our #5 pick….
    Alabama State RT Tytus Howard also visting, but damn, don’t bury the lead in place of Slapaport’s twittering on a diva fragile thing…
    Cover what matters. QUINNEN.
  22. SeffnerSal Says:
    @Joe’s…
    “Yawn….” huh?? It’s news to you, you didn’t know it was today that Quinnen is here, and you know it. “Yawn”…on the “very interesting” dwarf with a broken foot that’s visiting. Cuz it’s a yawn right, that the consensus top defensive prospect in the entire draft is on our grounds today. Sure.
    Don’t try and school us on “30 visits” thing?! We all already know that, we all here have already readily talked about that.
    You both led with this Hollywood Brown crap, you didn’t know Quinnen was here today…and it’s kinda blown up in your face.
    So there’s your “yawn”.
    First, Seffner Sal, you’re losing track of your screen names. But this is awfully silly. Joe writes about what interests Joe when Joe feels like writing about it. That’s been the daily order here since Aug. 2008. Joe really doesn’t get the anger and upset caused by Joe not writing something on the schedule a specific fan thinks is appropriate. Joe used to get screamed at here constantly for not writing about all the practice squad signings and bottom-of-the-roster moves.–Joe
  23. BucsFIRE Says:
    ^ Sorry Sal, but why the hell would we care? QW is not falling to us.
  24. Malcolm-Reynolds Says:
    I have to agree with the posters who say that drafting a wide receiver early would be a “luxury pick”. Unless B.A. has decided to give up the notion of stopping the other team and playing good defense, I think the Bucs HAVE to go defense early and often I this draft…UNLESS a great (can’t miss) O-lineman is still sitting there when we are on the clock in the 2nd or 3rd round. I mean, I believe we’ve tried the “we’ll just out-score everyone” offense and that hasn’t worked out for us. The so-called experts say this draft is LOADED with defensive talent and if we’re serious about playing better defense we need to scoop up all the defensive playmakers we can.
  25. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:
    This might be the son of the lady in my wife’s bible study. Anyone know if this kids mother’s name is Loretta?
    I know her son was invited to the draft.
  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:
    If it is him, he’s a great returner.
  27. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:
    Okay, it’s not him.
    The guy I’m thinking of is Kelvin McKnight.
  28. SeffnerSal Says:
    @FIRE…
    Nobody cares what you think about who is or isn’t “falling” anywhere. The consensus top defensive prospect in any year’s draft, when visiting the local team, always makes headlines, year in and year out. THUS, that fact and player should be….covered, on those local sites. It’s…newsworthy.
    Plus, you have NO DAMN IDEA what is going to transpire with QB trades and anything else in the Top 4 picks….with 6-7 QB needy teams with antsy billionaires leading their squad, and will do whatever those billionaires say to stay employed. Plus whackadoo Gruden feeding only himself.
    Plus if BA/Bowles wanted to go from #5 to #4 if Q is there.
    You got no damn idea who’s going where. Neither do I for certain. Neither does anyone as a matter of certainty.
    AND…THAT….is why Quinnen should be covered, when a local site has a player of that caliber in the local town.
  29. BuccOff Says:
    @Joe’s…
    Simpleton’s…no one’s losing track of anything, anywhere. Since there are two 4th grade girls often operating on extreme emotional whimsies behind this here blog thing. Insulting Joe maliciously is not in the realm of ok. –Joe
  30. Arian Nation Says:
    Wow!!
    Hollywood Brown is fast, but we have a guy named Perriman who is faster and bigger.
  31. LongSeason Says:
    NO! Please see Dexter Jackson. Speed is nothing if you can’t take a hit.
  32. Vic Says:
    Always weird to me that people come to insult Joe and seem so unhappy with the website but keep visiting. It’s mildly entertaining but a complete waste of time in the comments.
  33. unbelievable Says:
    5-9 and 166lbs ??? No way.
    That’s basically my exact height and weight. I am in very good physical shape and work out 5x a week, and I would get fkn destroyed by a real NFL player.
    This kid will be on floppy hat patrol after one day…
    Maybe you could take a flyer on him in the 5th or 6th round… maybe.
  34. Figures Says:
    Anyone who says Winston is an accurate deep passer should not be allowed to comment again.
    That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard one of you nut hugging FSU homers say Anyone with eyes can see his accuracy downfield is NOT good. In fact that’s one of the things holding him back.
    My god some of you are so STUUUUPID. and ofcourse its the moronic low IQ idiot FSU fans.
  35. BucEmUp Says:
    Look at phillip lyndsey in denver. Dude is so tiny but lightning in a bottle. If ysed creatively he could do a lot.. He would have to be the punt return man right off the bat as well. Not sure I see this happening thiugh Bucs need to work.on the defense
  36. BucEmUp Says:
    Would be a good way to show djax how much HE was the problem and not Jameis!
