“You Want To Be In This Position Coming Off A Good Year”

March 25th, 2019

GM Jason Licht at today’s NFL Owners Meetings

They’re still all smiles at One Buc Palace, general manager Jason Licht told Joe and other reporters at the NFL Owners Meetings in Phoenix today — even Team Glazer.

Licht made no effort to pretend he signed a stack of superstars and incredibly hidden gems in free agency over the past two weeks. And Licht looked and sounded a cross between frustrated, disgusted and sad that Kwon Alexander and Adam Humphries have new teams.

But none of that has put a cloud in the sky over One Buc Palace.

“It certainly isn’t ideal, you know, you want to be in this position coming off a good year,” Licht said. “And I recognize that but, you know I would say the biggest offseason signing that we had was Bruce and his staff. And still to this day extremely excited about it from ownership on down that we were able to get Bruce and the staff and Todd Bowles, and the list goes on and on.

“It’s still exciting times.”

With every passing day, it becomes more and more clear that the Bucs are banking on the last coaching staff sucking and the new coaching staff being many steps ahead of them.

Joe hopes so. The alternative — the roster being weak — would be a real kick in the groin after this offseason.

Well, for once at least we’re not going to go into the season thinking that this is the year that they turn it around.

I believe that a good coaching staff can make a difference for sure.

How much of a difference? We’re gonna find out!

The value of good coaching is worth it’s weight in gold.

We haven’t been playing fundamental football. Forget the talent. Talens means nothing without fundamentals. And you don’t need a bunch of talent to play solid football.

If you don’t believe me rewatch our home loss to the Redskins. I defy you to tell me they had more talent. We did. But they played solid football and we made reapeated fundamental errors.

Bruce will get this team prepared and competitive.

First let the Bucs get good then we can be great!!

    agree with licht…..

the biggest signing was the coaching staff…..a staff that can develop….

been saying for 2years, the problem has been coaching/scheme not players/talent….

    we’ll find out very soon….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

Yea he should be worried because if it turns out most of his recent picks suck skill wise or from the neck up licht is done, probably begged BA to come to Tampa and save his job

  8. El Buco Realisto Says:

This season is exciting for licht weight and the front office!!!!!!! They could be canned on any given Friday!!!!!! Coach stale biscuit could retire on the basis of this was not what he signed up for on any given day!!! The assistant coaches could be where they where just over two short months ago!!! Unemployed!!!!!!!!!!!! The exciting part for the “real” fans hear all the new and creative excuses for failure!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to see this season playout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 season will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Jean Lafitte Says:

you were advocating at the end of last season that all the Bucs needed was a better coaching staff. Well here you are and you’re now waffling. smh

  10. Reach87 Says:

Jimmy Jack, well said. Go Bucs!

  11. Conte Piscatelli Says:

    Amen Jimmy Jack

This team has lacked fundamentals, and preparation. It’s like they never watched tape off the teams they play, and if they did it wasn’t with the idea of exploiting a weakness or limiting a strength. Other team is dressing my local UPS store at linebackers, let’s go spread and throw 50 times. Even the impartial announcers would repeatedly scratch their heads at some of the gameplans.
