Still A Bucs WR

February 6th, 2019

Still rocks Bucs gear.

Joe understands malcontent Bucs receiver DeSean Jackson likes to send out cryptic messages about his relationship with the Bucs and certain players by using Instagram as a vehicle.

So Joe didn’t know what to make when Jackson posted videos and photos of himself yesterday on Instagram while fishing.

Jackson loves to fish. It may be his biggest hobby. Even appeared on syndicated fishing shows. And those who follow Jackson on Instagram know hardly a week goes by he’s not fishing.

So yesterday, Jackson uploaded videos and photo evidence on Instagram’s Stories feature. It was obvious Jackson was wearing a Bucs hoody (see the image Joe grabbed from Jackson’s feed above).

Most of the time, NFL players don’t wear their team’s gear out in public. They like to blend in with the crowd, not stick out. The only time Joe can think of seeing a player or coach publicly in team gear was when Joe first met former Bucs coach Brentson Buckner at the posh Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas a couple of summers ago. Dude was in full Arizona Cardinals regalia, which threw Joe off.

This week new Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians is scheduled to have a sitdown with Jackson, which likely will determine if Arians keeps him or not. Jackson has made no bones that he doesn’t like playing with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, and that he wants to play for the Rams.

Jackson is a sharp guy so Joe finds it a tad interesting that Jackson was wearing a Bucs hoody out to fish and made sure this was broadcast on social media.

Was Jackson up to his old cryptic messages routine by wearing? You know, sort of saying fans will miss him when he’s gone?

Could be worse. could of found it at Goodwill.

  2. JWBUCS Says:

After watching Jared Goff during the Super Bowl, I think Jameis Winston could connect with D Jackson at much higher completion percentages than the Rams QB…

Meanwhile, I hope the Bucs move on from D Jax for the need of using the increased Salary Cap margin to resign Humphries, Kwon and other younger contributors to the roster.

  3. Lunchbox Says:

A lot of times for me, I dress for fishing the same as if I work on my car. I wear clothes I don’t care if I ruin. Not saying that’s the case here, just my two cents.

  4. SteelStudBuc Says:

Maybe it’s because fish are nasty and he needs “work clothes he doesn’t care about getting nasty… then he can throw the slimy stuff in the parking lot garbage can after.

  5. OneBuc55 Says:

Jameis has chemistry with every WR on the roster except Mesean…Go figure…

  6. Joe Says:

    Steel:

    Did think about that! 🙂

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Wow….a Buc hoodie….now that’s news

  9. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Could be no state income taxes and $10 million reasons why as opposed to not 10 mil and the huge taxes in cali

  10. Jim Says:

    Nice catch…

  11. mike24 Says:

HES FISHING!! IM SURE IF HE DIDNT WEAR THE HOODIE HE WOULD BLEND IN WITH LADY FISH TO KEEP THOSE AUTOGRAPH HOUNDS FROM JUMPING IN THE BOAT!!!

  12. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Who really cares? If he stays, he’ll be the most hated player on the team.

If he goes, we can move on with an elite WR group: Evans, Godwin and Humphries (and they better re-sign Hump).

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

You know, Joe…few people actually care about these daily Jackson articles. I get you have to write about him, but we have other players too…like Adam Humphries who is actually a free agent.

The Bucs can ignore Jackson, and he’ll still be here because he is under contract. How about some news on players who we need to re-sign? Please?

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

BTW…I bet someone else caught those fish. We all know Desean Jackson can’t catch anything.

  15. Jean Lafitte Says:

Maybe he didn’t care if he got fish guts all over it. There’s got to be a conspiracy there somewhere, chase that lead Joe.

  16. stpetebucsfan Says:

I’m pretty much over the drama, I can get past that if BA can.
    If BA signs off…

What I don’t see is DJAX skill set being worth ten million bucks.
He’s become a luxury. He’s not anymore productive than Hump but he does have the speed that can scare a defense.

DJAX got more than 50% of his yardage this year in the first four games. I’ve read more than once that once he started burning defenses the DC’s just adjusted their safety play and figured out how to stop him.

Now it’s nice to have a player who keeps safeties out of the box when you’re trying to establish a running game…and if he wasn’t ten million I could live with the “personality” issues…but paying ten million for a decoy that ties up a safety seems expensive to me. What you end up with is ten on ten football because DJAX is not going over the middle, or blocking, or fighting much for contested catches. Again he is the proverbial one trick pony.

Steele , I too thought no biggie , it’s to wipe his hands on after grabbing bass . Kinda like how jameis uses his bucs gear to wipe his hands after grabbing some _ _ _ …fill in the blanks

  18. Taylor Says:

Think he would have cried in the super when the Rams had 45 total yards and said he would rather play for the Pats?

  19. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

    @ JWBucs

Too funny, I was thinking the same thing. After watching Goeff get exposed for what (I think) he is…an average/maybe “above average in his system” NFL QB who has the luxury of being in an offensive scheme that’s been tailored to him (play action passes when the run gave is clicking). Pats took the run game away and put pressure on Goeff, and DJax likely saw that game and thought “damn, Jameis is better than that dude…I like Tampa!”

    Tooooooo Funny!

Bass fishing in a Bucs hoodie…O the drama! Yawn!

  22. BucEmUp 7 Says:

below average fishing for a below average wide receiver.

  23. Jeebs Says:

I think this is all a giant smokescreen. If we cut DJax, another team will scoop him in FA. If the Bucs and DJax make nice and put on a smile for the public, we can get some value back (even if it’s only the 6th round pick we lost for BA) and control where he goes. I highly doubt the new regime will keep DJax for all the reasons we know and that Joe and Ira continue to harp on. This is just smart organizational management. Hopefully we are able to get value for Gerald McCoy as well.

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

Lunchbox- I agree. If you’re catching fish, it’s inevitable that you’re going to get blood or guts on you. At least I don’t wear anything I care that much about.

These DJax articles are getting redundant, a la the Doug Martin articles last year. At least you came around a little Joe and can admit that the offensive line has been, well, offensive! Joe didn’t “come around” on the anything. The 2017 line performance and the 2018 line are two different animals. –Joe

  25. Bucsfanman Says:

    “two different animals”!

Yea, ZERO and NIL. Neither performed well, to put it mildly.

  26. dmatt Says:

Com on let’s approach this strategically. Why hold on to a guy who:
1.Demonstrated that he’ll shut down in real time game when upset about something.
2.Shared via media he wants to play with the Rams.
    3.Threw Winston under the bus.
    4. Is often injured n is injury prone.
    5. Will be 33 before the end of the 2019 season.
6.Not willing to restructure his high salary for best interest of team.

It don’t take Einstein to figure this out. Let’s get a real Buccaneer man n let DJax walk. If not, we’ll be talking bout this same issue this time next year.

  27. PRBucFan Says:

    The opposite

He’s saying, “Regardless of what I say I know im under contract…”

    That’s all that says

  28. Rob Says:

I think it’s a funny picture because he is posing with four undersized largemouth bass in the 1-2 pound range…nothing to brag about for any real fisherman. Go Bucs!

  29. Bangkok Buc Says:

First time I ever thought to put ” Nice Catch” & “Desean Jackson” together in the same sentence. Surprised he was able to hold on

  30. Wesley Says:

It’s a cool logo why wouldn’t he wear it?
