Cornerback Mike Evans

January 27th, 2019

Pro Bowl standout today

Well, if you weren’t watching the Pro Bowl earlier today, then shame on you.

It was one of the more boring all-star games in years. In fact, the NFC was scoreless through three quarters, ridiculous in a game in which defense was more myth than reality.

But the most memorable moment went to Bucs receiver Mike Evans. He didn’t catch a pass on offense in the game played through steady Orlando rain. However, Evans played a little cornerback and picked off Deshaun Watson in the fourth quarter.

To give you an idea of how things were going, a series of laterals after the pick put the ball in Saquon Barkley’s hands. Yes, the Giants’ running back — he, too, was playing defense.

After the game, Evans told Jenna Laine of ESPN that he played cornerback as a kid but he’d be lousy at it in the NFL.

Here’s the interception video below: Joe’s just glad Evans came out of the game healthy.

Hell yeah way to go me13

  2. AlteredEgo Says:

It would be hilarious to see him turned into a pretzel in a real NFL game situation by any starting caliber WR…he wouldn’t be Toast…he’d be incinerated and vanish in a wisp of smoke…

  3. ... Says:

Mike Evans has more interceptions in the 2018 season than Brent Grimes. Let that one sink in.

  4. EA Says:

I haven’t watched the probowl in a decade, last time I watched it I was very unimpressed. I occasionally watch the MLB allstar game because at least they try.

  5. Loyaltotheend Says:

More people watch the Pro Bowl than the Stanley Cup finals or any other All Star game

It was a fun watch seeing NFC offensive players like Kamara Evans and even Zeke Elliott play both ways

  6. DB55 Says:

Well I guess we now know who will be covering Julio Jones and Michael Thomas 1 on 1

  7. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

I would have to say the skills challenge was more entertaining then the pro bowl game itself. I was shocked at how bad Luck did in the challenge. I literally cleaned out my closet while I had this game on in the background. The game has gotten completely ridiculous compared to the the days of Brooks and Lynch playing in the pro bowl.

  8. DBS Says:

The NHL All Star game is much more impressive. At least they play to Win.

  9. Not there yet Says:

Yea mike eve and can play corner but to be fair if we can get the rest of the receivers on our schedule next year to give that kind of effort all our corners will be all stars

  10. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

I don’t think I’ve watched the Pro Bowl since ‘08…Derrick Brooks swan song…I believe he won MVP. And then the Mark Dominik Era was ushered in. Stone cold cutting Brooks and othe vets…and 5 years of folly ( followed by another 5 by Licht Weight )…but I digress. I’m glad ME13 got to go. He’s been solid since he entered the league.

  11. Cobraboy Says:

The Pro Bowl is a stupid game.

  12. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

They really need to stop playing those games. Last time I watched was several years ago and it was basically touch football. IMO it is an embarrassment to the game to watch the best of the best play patty whack all afternoon. Just name the pro bowlers and be done with it. The actual game doesn’t even remotely look like real football.

  13. BigMacAttack Says:

I watched the Lightning win the cup at the Forum. We attended all the home playoff games that year. But beating the Flames to hoist the Cup was the best sporting event I’ve ever witnessed live. There’s no flukes or one bad call losses in the quest for the cup. It’s 4-7 and the best teams generally endure and win. This Lightning team now may be their best ever and have a legit shot at doing it again. Another reason I told the Bucs to stick their season tickets up their …….

  14. Jimmy Says:

The only interesting thing that happened in the whole game.

  15. firethecannons Says:

watched for 30 minutes–huge waste of time

  16. SkBucsFan Says:

If I was a GM I would sign a couple of the tallest, fastest receivers available after the draft and try to turn one of them into a CB. There is no downside. Worst case scenario if it doesn’t work out you release them when you need to get down to 53.
That one is free Licht. You’ve taken gambles with picks. This one doesn’t cost you anything.

  17. Buc1987 Says:

Still cracks me up til this day that someone has a s/n….

“Im tired and 87 is right ”

    I’m blocked (screened) bro….I can’t help ya.lol or not….

Seriously not anyone I know of or me, but funny none the less to have that name still. To me at least. I’ve always understood the name from the get go.

Lots do I suppose. So lol.

  18. Greg Says:

Mother of God…..bad touch football in the rain? The NFL should cancel that farce immediately.

  19. D-Rome Says:

Troy Brown played WR and CB for the Patriots. It has been done before.

  20. dmatt Says:

I quit watching what was once known as the Pro Bowl many years ago. Why do they waste time putting on n removing their uniform when the only thing they’ll do is touch, same as OTA days. Just rename it n call it the “Touch Bowl”. Man, I remember the days when Lawrence Taylor, Mike Singletary, n Jack Lambert would take ur head off in the Pro Bowl.

  21. Bucs4821 Says:

Unfortunately, my most vivid memory of a Pro Bowl was losing Lee Roy Selmon, FOREVER, in a meaningless exhibition.

  22. Bosch Says:

I’m am also glad Evans as well as everyone else came out healthy as well as all the players. But isn’t that what you expect from two hand touch?

This exhibition is about as relevant as the old college all star game. It is time for it to meet the same demise.

  23. Bird Says:

    Tmax big bro

That’s hilarious. Gotta ask. Did you always take the last roll at dinner time. Is that why tmaxacon hates the world.

  24. Buc50 Says:

I’m glad it’s nothing more that touch football. I don’t want any of my teams players getting hurt trying bully through a pile. It’s a fun game for them and that’s all that really matters.

  25. VFL98 Says:

Most boring game in all of sports. Never watch and never will.

  26. gman Says:

So the only way ME 13 can get any YAC is to pick off a pass?

  27. Anonymous Says:

Playing CB in the Pro bowl is no big deal. The game itself is even LESS of a deal. It’s not football and it’s not comedy. What it IS is a waste of time.

  28. unbelievable Says:

    Haha that was pretty entertaining.

Of course only Bucs fans (trolls?) can find a way to complain about Mike Evans having fun in a meaningless probowl game.
