Report: Dirk Koetter Has Been Offered The Falcons OC Job

They’re celebrating at Donteea Dye’s house.

Jacquizz Rodgers is smiling more than usual.

Bernard Reedy is seeking a fill-in to drive the medical transport van this spring.

Yes, fired Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter has been offered the vacant offensive coordinator gig with the Atlanta Falcons, per a new report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Joe hopes Koetter pounces. It would be fun. Joe would be so eager to see if the Falcons rotate guards next season, and to see Koetter and Raheem Morris working side-by-side.

Good for Koetter, who has remained close with Matt Ryan and certainly has a handle on how to run up points on the Saints and Falcons.

    Congratulations Coach Koetter. See you around…Go Bucs !!!

  2. AleteredEgo Says:

    I wish him well…expect when they play the Bucs….that said he is going to an excellent franchise….the off field part of the franchise

  3. Loyaltotheend Says:

    Wonder if Jameis will give him the stink eye like Baker Mayfield did to Hue Jackson…

  4. AleteredEgo Says:

    Jameis shouldn’t be giving the stink eye to anything but his mirror

  5. TexBuc Says:

    Congrats Dirk!
    Must be nice to work with a QB you like again.

  6. DB55 Says:

    Goes to show how much I know I thought this was done on black Monday. Some say the contract was sign on the field week 17.

    Now if only they’d hire Schiano as DLine coach.

  7. Bird Says:

    Good for him.

  8. OneBuc55 Says:

    Look for Matt Ryans sacks to increase along with issues scoring in the morning red zone…

  9. OneBuc55 Says:

    “scoring in the red zone”…

  10. Loyaltotheend Says:

    Funny how people tried to claim Ryan struggled with Dirk, if so why is he back?

  11. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Some of Matt Ryan’s best years were under Dirk Koetter………..I think Koetter is perfect for Atlanta………….

  12. BringBucsBack Says:

    Is also being considered for the Minny OC position.

  13. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

    Loyal, I think absolutely nobody said that.

  14. ShutTheBucUp Says:

    He might get offered the vikings job as well

  15. Bird Says:

    No. It’s true. Posters here said Koetter struggled with Ryan.

  16. Destinjohnny Says:

    He will kill us

  17. Loyaltotheend Says:

    @TDTB

    Lot of posters here claimed Ryan got better once Koetter left. Check the comments defending our underperforming #1 overall pick

  18. BucEmUp Says:

    Dirks offense was really good his last coiple years in Atlanta. The defense was as bad as.ours.in Tampa which is why they always failed. If Dan Quinn can get the defense firing next season it will be scary with the weapns they have now.including ridley.

    Also, what if Antonio Brown were traded to the Panthers? That woukd be very not good.

    Bucs beter hope Arians signs

  19. MadMax Says:

    Good luck Coach K….except when you play us.

  20. Wesley Says:

    Good dude so good for him, just not head coaching material that’s all.

  21. Iron Wombat Says:

    Look at Ryan’s stats while dirk was there. Lots of picks.

  22. TexBuc Says:

    Julio Jones is almost one foot wonder he has been fighting chronic foot bones issues the last few years and father time always seems to win. Every team has to deal with the drop off as their stars age. Recovery from injuries this past season does not guarantee a player’s performance will return to pre injury levels.

  23. TexBuc Says:

    A. Brown traded to a run first team would funny watching him have a hissy for not getting thrown the ball enough.

  24. Lubby Smith Says:

    Maybe he was a double agent for the Falcons the whole time.

  25. cmurda Says:

    Nothing but the best for Koetter except when he plays us if he takes that job. Was really hoping he would not end up in the NFC South. By the way, Lil Wayne and Imagine Dragons just killed the CF Championship halftime show.

  26. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

    I know a die hard Falcons fans and he told me Ryan had his better years once Koetter left but that was also with Smith as the coach so who knows. I liked Koetter just not as a head coach. Oh well best of luck!

  27. Not there yet Says:

    Depending on the DC we bring in I have a feeling dirk will be facing the team he couldn’t manage to bring here. I’m not worried about the NFC South anymore not saying we have the best talent but we do have a coach that can go toe to toe with Sean Peyton and it’s not very hard to out coach Dirk. please take the falcons job dirk we will appreciate it very much.

  28. MelbourneJason Says:

    Please…. NO MORE FALCON PERSONNEL! Thank you

  29. Larry Says:

    Very good OC but not that great as a Head Coach. Should be fun when the Falcons play the Bucs!

  30. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

    Oh and by the way I would rather have Monoken call our plays over Koetter anywho.

  31. Jeffbuc Says:

    The bucs anthem I don’t know what stats your looking at the 3 years koetter was Ryan’s offensive coordinator. Those three years he threw more interceptions in each of those three season than he has in any other year without koetter. His high for interceptions without koetter was 14 once. In his three years with koetter he threw 14,17,14 so yeah I guess matt Had his best seasons with koetter.

  32. TexBuc Says:

    Hey Dirk

    If somehow no NFL OC positions works out I am just guessing but I think there maybe a opening on Nick Saban’s staff for a OC soon.

  33. Bucsfan951 Says:

    Dude is a better coordinator than head coach. I’m happy for him.

  34. ManzielMadness Says:

    Best of luck Dirk.

    Btw, This Ross kid is a stud.

  35. Ugandan Knuckles Says:

    Poor Falcons. They’ll get a bunch of yards, but never score.

  36. ManzielMadness Says:

    And Trevor Lawrence is going to be fun to watch on sundays. Can’t believe these kids are true freshman.

  37. Bird Says:

    Ryan averaged around 4,700 yards and 30 tds in those 3 years. Yah. He was terrible with Ryan.

    Gimme a break. THe messiah cult at its finest

  38. jerseybuc Says:

    I wish him well. We need to move on.Go Bucs!

  39. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

    LOL….Arians is NOT a done deal per LaCanfora. Bucs still sniffing around.

  40. tnew Says:

    Christian Wilkins is looking better than Q, Williams right now. Clemson’s Dline is dominating Bama.

  41. Buc believer Says:

    Looks like Dork Koetter is running the Alabama offense!

  42. MadMax Says:

    Yeah MM, he’s gonna be a #1 overall when he comes out, Ross will be close too.

  43. Jean Lafitte Says:

    Good for Coach Koetter!

  44. MadMax Says:

    I would LOVE it if Wilkins is still there at the end of the first….doubt it though. But if he is, after we pick Devin White, we need to trade back into the 1st for him.

  45. cmurda Says:

    Where did you see that Scotty? I haven’t seen that

  46. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

    Auman twitter feed

  47. Crotchity McGee Says:

    Good luck ta ya!

  48. cmurda Says:

    Seeing Dabo outcoach Saban and these freshmen lighting the world on fire is impressive. Watch for Dabo to be in real high demand next year in the NFL.

  49. cmurda Says:

    I see it now. I’m not buying that the Bucs are looking for a bigger fish than Arians. I don’t think there is one. I hope Arians is our next Head Coach.

  50. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Loyaltotheend Says
    “Lot of posters here claimed Ryan got better once Koetter left.”

    Time stays still for no man. Koetter was away from Ryan for 4 years…I would hope Ryan grew a bit after he left. Most people would.

  51. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    I hope Todd Monken stays

  52. Rob Tanner Says:

    I hope they choose to suck vs the Bucs in the red zone

  53. westernbuc Says:

    I think Minnesota is Dirk’s stop. Close to Idaho, good defense, and Mike Zimmer. Plus he gets out of the NFC South…

  54. BucsBandit Says:

    Word from my sources say the Bucs are going with Richards not Arians. Arians is staying retired.

  55. D1QB Says:

    Jeffbucs,

    Why use a single cumulative stat to make an assessment of a player’s performance when there’s at least a dozen more . I understand how including a few of these additional stats will drastically weaken any conclusion that you have made but ……..many adults have discovered that the world is much more grey than black or white. There’s even an ever smaller group that tends to believe actions are more informative than belief. Falcons hire Dirk then that action is completely opposite of the beliefs and lies told about DK and his stint w the falcons. Considering how many people engaged in this embarrassing sham , this hire to dks former team, is the debate equivalency of being violated w a lawn mower…..

  56. Calbucsfan Says:

    Good news, the Bucs red zone defense just got better!!!!

  57. Rod Munch Says:

    I still don’t get why, when in Atlanta the first time, Dirk ran non-stop WR bubble screens – then when he got to Tampa he stopped doing that in favor of just throwing the deep ball over and over again. I’m not against throwing deep over and over again, but I did think the lack of the bubble screen, didn’t make any sense. Also like I thought not having D-Jax running slants made no sense.

    Anywho, to whoever is coaching the Bucs d… stack the line on 1st and 10 in the first half – it’s gonna be a run up the middle. If Dirk is going to pass the ball on 1st and 10 in the first half he’ll let you know by making sure by coming out in shotgun.

  58. Mark2001 Says:

    Need someone to throw a monkey wrench into a healthy Falcons Offense. Why not Dirk?

  59. Pick6 Says:

    This is the only way Dirk can prevent Julio Jones rom haunting his dreams. Dirk was always an excellent coordinator. Jameis’ future looked bright with Dirk the coordinator, it just turned out the the step up to Head Coach was a step he wasn’t equipped for.

    I would’ve preferred to see him continue his career in the AFC but he certainly deserves to be calling plays for someone

  60. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    I would have preferred for him to be somewhere other than in our division again, but happy for Dirk Koetter. Glad he landed on his feet and will be doing what he is best at.

    Hopefully Jaquizz will be a Falcon now again, lol.

  61. James Walker Says:

    Given Bucs history we can now count on being swept by the Falcons as they put up 50 a game on us.

  62. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    AleteredEgo Says:
    “Jameis shouldn’t be giving the stink eye to anything but his mirror”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You can never resist a Jameis dig, can ya man? And ya mistyped your name again, lol!
    Just playin… but honestly, can you even picture Jameis pulling something like that on Dirk? That may be Baker, but that is not how Jameis would act. He respects Dirk and always will.
  63. Hodad Says:
    Should off hired Monken.
