Respect

December 18th, 2018

Gets props from NFL star.

Real recognizes real.

And it is among two NFL warriors like Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and five-time Pro Bowl Crows free safety Eric Weddle.

After Sunday’s loss to the Crows, Weddle couldn’t say enough good things when he was chatting with GMC who promised Weddle a jersey. NFL players in recent years have picked up on the European kickball habit of exchanging jerseys after a game.

NFL Films cameras had Weddle mic’d up when he showed GMC, the Bucs’ nominee for NFL Man of the Year, much love on the field after the game.

Pretty cool scene.

    Haha. Who the hell would want one of ugly jerseys. Go talk to Sapp and get one from him.

  2. DB55 Says:

    He’s going to the pro bowl for best hugger in the league. To steal one of joes lines from today: YAAAAWWWWWNNNNNNNN

  3. The Real Malloy Says:

    Well, Eric Weddle wants one. Considering he is who he is and you’re some troll ass clown, id probably go with his opinion on said player vs yours.

  4. Waterboy Says:

    Is that Tuesday Evening Joe or the the Irv Kaufman podcast coming out today?

  5. Not there yet Says:

    Lol apparently Weddle doesn’t read stat lines of other people

  6. Iron Wombat Says:

    Thanks for being god awful in the run game bro.

  7. 813bucboi Says:

    all smiles….lol….

    #ADIOSDIRK!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  8. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Just like I’ve been saying…McCoy commands respect throughout the NFL.

    Which is why I think the time to trade him is this off season.

  9. Pryda...sec 147 Says:

    Weddle a beast I’m glad for him great sportsmanship class act both these guys

  10. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    Not there yet Says:
    “Lol apparently Weddle doesn’t read stat lines of other people”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I am guessing that players the caliber of Weddle don’t rely on stat lines to tell them about the assets of another player.
  11. The Real Malloy Says:
    Well said Demon. So over some of these clowns on here.
  12. Doctor_berto Says:
    Love McCoy but I think its time to part ways. Hopefully he will land on a playoff contending team.
  13. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:
    Real recognize real. What does that say about the GMC haters?
    I agree though Bonzai, now is the time…if you can get anything.
    The new regime may want to clear some cap to bring in “their guys”, but they may also not want to get rid of good players if they aren’t going to use the cap anyway.
    Can’t wait for next year! This team is going to look much different in a year, bank on it!
  14. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    I think Weddle respects and looks up highly to Gerald McCoy, not only as a player, but as a man.
    He is trying to accomplish a lot out there for other people. There is a reason that he is our “Walter Payton Man of the Year” recipient.
    If you feel that his time has come as a Bucs player and it’s best for him to move on, that is a reasonable opinion. — I just feel that he deserves respect from Bucs fans for all of the years of service as a Buc, for who he is as a person, and for how he has tried to represent the Tampa Bay community.
  15. Dre Says:
    Joe only calls Weddle a warrior because he traded jerseys with carebear
  16. Lubby Smith Says:
    Of course the other team “respects” Gerald.
    Can’t wait until the lovable loser is gone and unable to neuter the organization further.
  17. Zwak Says:
    Numbers don’t lie, did you forget how many double digit sack years he’s had!
    Crickets..
  18. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:
    “I love what you do OFF THE FIELD more than anything else” – Eric Weddle
    This proves even Eric Weddle knows Gerald big fat softie McCoy is A BIG FAT SOFTIE!!!!
  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:
    I’d be fine with a trade for a ham sandwich for GMC……just to have posters STFU about him. We could use the money and a potential draft pick……
  20. GhostofSchiano Says:
    So far on this line the only keepers are JPP and Nassib.
    I haven’t seen squat from any other D-linemen this season beyond an occasional play.
  21. Rod Munch Says:
    Grrrr…. doesn’t this jobber know that GMC reads comicbooks??? I’m so angry… grrrrr….
  22. LakeLand Says:
    A change is gonna come
    Sam Cooke
  23. Pelbuc Says:
    Should have been traded 2 years ago. Let’s see how much respect he garners on the trade market now. Need to rid this team of all the losers!
  24. ElioT Says:
    Plenty of respect for McCoy as a person off the field.
    There’s a f**k load of offensive lineman who give him ZERO respect on Sundays.
    Please STOP with the Warrior Crap!!!!!!
    Insulting to real men and women WARRIORS making a fraction of Capt. Loser’s salary fighting for and defending our country at home an abroad.
    How much does McCoy donate to the JBF Foundation?
  25. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:
    For my kids birthday I’m going to buy them a cupcake shaped like Vita Vea and a big fat soft Gerald McCoy plushie they can hug at night.
  26. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    Zwak Says:
    “Numbers don’t lie, did you forget how many double digit sack years he’s had!
    Crickets..”
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    What’s kind of ironic is that Gerald McCoy and Ndamukong Suh had the same exact number of sacks for their 9 yr careers, as of a couple of games ago.

  27. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

    The Vita Vea cupcake is gonna have pink icing on it and the Gerald big fat softie McCoy plushie is gonna say “I’m sorry Ben” every time they hug it

  28. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    Lol here they all come… I knew it was pointless

    It kind of reminds me of WALKING DEAD when the wall just finally gives way to all of the walkers..

  29. Lamarcus Says:

    GMC fanboys have to show videos like this to prove he is good. It’s about the only life Fanboys have otherwise his play on the field has been mediocre

  30. Mike Johnson Says:

    I am Not..one of the GMC haters. I think the guys has done a lot for the team over the years. Every team has a few scapegoats. When he is on the come up next year, All of you will be back on his bandwagon. GMC is a Baller and a class act.

  31. THETRUTH Says:

    Same GMC haters are same who call for DJax to go and see how crappy our offense got when DJAX os out of lineup. No one to spread field , spped like that that demands respect doesn’t come easy just like quickness on get off

    GMC leaves you will see drop off and these same people will cry why we don’t have an interior 3 technique guy there to help. ( not easy to replace )

    By the way he is a DT fold not DE so double digit sacks are not common for even top 5 tackles in league.

    People live with fantasy football roster mindset , get players as you wish.

  32. Mikey Says:

    Focusing your anger on McCoy is like focusing on an unliked paint color of a building while it’s burning down.

    So basically, you look compromised mentally.

  33. joestang Says:

    Although McCoy is not a great tackle he is still a good football player and we should not let him go for nothing.

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    THETRUTH Says
    “Same GMC haters are same who call for DJax to go”

    Not Truth!

    I love GMC (I just think it’s time to part ways while we can get something for him).

    I think DJax is afraid of getting hit and needs to go.

  35. gotbbucs Says:

    I’d love to see that video of him with that career defining play in a big game………………….there surely is one, isnt there? I’m told he’s a borderline Hall of Famer, or at least a future Ring of Honor inductee.

    He had to have led this defense to greatness at some point to earn that high praise, right? Right? No? Well then what the hell are all these people talking about?

  36. gotbbucs Says:

    Somebody tell me what he does great besides the quick first step.

    I’m not trying to hate, I’m actually curious what many of you, including Joe, see that is making a difference out there.

  37. DB55 Says:

    He’s not easy to replace? Correct me if I’m wrong but Payne (was) and Rankins (no) are both outplaying him not to mention of course Donald. I bring this up bc we had posters pounding for these young players but noooooo

  38. DB55 Says:

    Second, I’m sure this won’t go through but if you study his game this year it looks like he’s mastering the technique of jumping on the pile to rack up sacks. But wtfdik

  39. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    @Mikey

    Incredibly well said, man. Cheers!

  40. John Says:

    Lol

  41. Reach87 Says:

    Horrible “fans” just can’t help tearing down one of their own in the face of mountains of evidence. You know better than everyone (though you never played and don’t understand the game). Worst fans ever…don’t deserve a winner because you have not the slightest sense of loyalty…you go in reverse and display team hatred. Laughable. Go Bucs!

  42. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    Love the passion, Reach. GoBucs

  43. orlbucfan Says:

    People on this site, so-called “fans” are full of it. GMC has been a class act both on and off the field ever since he was drafted. He has yet to play in a playoff game. Same goes for LVD. These guys are competitors and the best at their positions. I sure hope they FINALLY get the chance to experience the playoffs next year.

  44. cmurda Says:

    I get the losing has driven us all batshat crazy but come on… Only on here could we have so many whiners when such a classy move between two very good players happens.

  45. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

    Best at their positions? Come on, man. I can’t imagine the Bucs will pay McCoy 13 million next season with no cap ramifications if he’s cut. And it’s extremely unlikely another team would trade for him with that contract. David shows he still has gas left in the tank vs the Ravens, however.

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Gerald McCoy is tied for 8th in Defensive Tackle Sacks.

    Top ten, people!

  47. Rod Munch Says:

    I love how these idiots that complained for year after year after year about the Glazers being cheap are suddenly worried about Winston and McCoy’s salaries. They now all of a suddenly care about the Glazers paying out too much? LOL! That’s why you dopes are fake news. The Bucs aren’t going to dump McCoy and Winston and say $23-million and then spend it on garbage in a garbage year of FA, it’d just be another $10-million in their bankroll. You bores are just that, boring. If the Bucs wanted to dump McCoy you’d literally have 31 other teams on the phone with his agent, and if you don’t believe that, you live in more of a fantasy world than the heros in the comic books he reads that triggers you so much.

  48. Bucsfanman Says:

    Munch- I love your “grrrrrr” posts. They really define the silliness of some of these posts.
    DB55- why not compare stats with someone who came in the same time? Like Suh? Ah, but it doesn’t fit the agenda, does it?! Just think what we’d say if he played next to Donald and had Suh’s stats.

  49. Anonymous Says:

    Bonzai- Fake news! 🙂

    Munch- Your “Grrrr” posts highlight just how silly this conversation about GMC gets.

    DB55- Why not compare him to someone he came into the league with? Suh perhaps? After all, he’s shredding it up next to Aaron Donald, right?! Or, is, he?!
    Imagine the conversation we’d be having if GMC were starting next to Donald and had the same stats as Suh!

  50. Bucsfanman Says:

    ^^^Obviously Bucsfanman re-post.

  51. Duke Silver Says:

    It’s tough to root for a guy who apologizes to a QB as he is about to run into him. That is not how defensive linemen play football. That is a flag football mentality.

  52. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    ^^ To be honest, Duke, if you read Jerry Kramer’s book “Instant Replay” in which the Hall of Fame GB guard chronicles the 1967 Packers march to the Super Bowl…….. those type of conversations (and yes during plays) happened all of the time even between the fiercest of competitors during the “good old days”.

    Gerald has caught way too much flack for that.
