Talks Dallas defense.

If the Bucs are going to do anything today and play the role of spoilers, it may require matching the intensity of the Cowboys defense.

Last week Bucs offensive coordinator Todd Monken was asked about how to combat the strong Cowboys defense. Monken sort of shrugged it off and said it’s not so much what they do but how they do it.

In short, the Cowboys defense brings energy.

“Not complicated,” Monken cooly responded when asked about Dallas’ defense. “But they do play awfully hard. Got a number of really good football players. Definitely, our play clock in our head is going to have to be extended because they do play hard. They will finish. They will get after the quarterback in terms of their pass rush. That’s what they’re building on playing at home with the noise on the turf.

“We’ve got to do a great job of running the football, being able to get chip help when we can, and our guys have got to win outside. That’s what you have to do, but they’re not complicated. They just do what they do and do it well, which is a sign of a good team.

“Statistically they’re every bit as good as the Ravens in a lot of categories and you can see it on film.”

Given how the Crows shut down a strong offensive team in the Chargers last night, a team that is making a playoff push, that gets Joe’s attention.

If Dallas is as good defensively as Baltimore, the Bucs may be in for a long afternoon.

Looks like D is not dead in the NFL after all – maybe our GM will take note, or the next one

  2. Defense Rules Says:

It’s time for our offense to take a much-needed step forward after these past 2 games in particular. Bucs’ OLine MUST do a better job of run-blocking AND protecting Jameis is we’re to have any chance of beating the Cowboys. No excuses … step up or find someone else who will.

“This year playoff teams all have something in common.

They have been successful drafting players and these rookie to 2-3 year experienced young players are now making plays and have become cornerstone of their teams for years

Throw the wins and losses out, every year the playoff teams, are the teams with the most overall talent. The teams with the most talent will make the playoffs every year…and the only way to load a team with talent is thru the draft and under the rookie cap salaries

WHAT IS THE ONLY REASON WE ARE NOT IN PLAYOFF CONTENTION? THERE IS ONLY 1 REASON

THE LAST 3 YEARS OUR DRAFT HAS BEEN BEYOND TERRIBBLE.

We do not have enough young talented players to effect the outcome of games.

HOW WILL TAMPA BAY BECOME PLAYOFF CONTENTION AND RELAVENT?

    ONLY 1 WAY.

    WE NEED A NEW GM”

THe Dallas D-line is pretty good. Our one dimensional run game makes us too predictable. That said, I”ve seen little evidence that this O-line can execute well enough in the screen game to even if we had a running back with that skillset.
Jameis will most likely face a lot of pressure. He will need to hit some big plays, so some of his favorite targets aren’t blanketed by the defense.
