Buccaneers 24, Panthers 17

December 2nd, 2018

Welcome to the Buccaneers and Jameis Winston revival tour.

It’s a beautiful thing. Will it last?

Joe can’t care about that now after today’s thumping all-phases victory (again!), this time versus the mighty Panthers. The Bucs are now 4-2 at home this season. One more win this year and the Den of Depression nickname is officially toast.

How bout that pass defense holding Cam Newton to 54 yards passing in the first half and picking him off twice. Andrew Adams and Javien Elliott, two cornerbacks on the street earlier this season, hauled in the interceptions before Adams picked up his second and third interceptions of the day in the second half.

The pass rush was consistent and two blitzers got first-half sacks, Kevin Minter and Lavonte David.

Jameis was money again, turnover-free and starting fast, 12-of-16 for 160 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. He finished 20-of-30 for 249 yards and 2 touchdowns. No chemistry issues this week. Jameis also was the Bucs’ leading rusher with 48 yards on 5 carries.

Your Buccaneers are 5-7 and no longer in Buccaneers Cove (aka last place in the NFC South) as the Falcons are about to lose to the Ravens.

Stick with Joe for plenty out of the happy locker room and much more from Joe and the Sage of Tampa Bay sports, Ira Kaufman.

  16. orlbucfan Says:

    For once the better team won. Now, what are the penalties in this game? GO MIGHTY BUCS!! We will beat the Aints/Saints next week.

  17. Bucsfan1988 Says:

    Great job BUCS!!!!! Despite the most horrid officiating that I’ve seen all year for them.

  18. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @Bucs 14

    Bucs had a penalty, so it got the cats one play with no time on the clock.

    Newton was pulled because he lacked the arm strength to throw the distance needed, due to his shoulder not being fully healed.

    That backup threw a beautiful pass though, didn’t he?

  19. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

    No nightmares tonight. Thank God. Go Bucs !!!

  20. Walter Says:

    Is Koetter actually going to survive this horror show of a season???? lmao that would be something

  21. SilverBuc Says:

    Anthem eating crow right now!! Hahahaha!!

  22. Rod Munch Says:

    The defense doesn’t put Winston down by 21 in the 2nd quarter and he’s not forced to try to throw deep to get the Bucs back into the game, and shocking, it’s a different game. Almost like every non-idiot has said over and over again, give Winston a shot, don’t have it 21-0 the 3rd time he gets the ball, and he’ll get you the win.

    Winston, now 4-2 in his last 6.

  23. Bobby M. Says:

    1 TO or less from Winston…we win. Been saying it, hopefully he keeps it going. Defense played solid…3 TOs…score should have been much higher for us but still an impressive win.

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    And to think…certain people here called me delusional for predicting a winning streak.

  25. Rod Munch Says:

    Winston, now 4-2 in his last 6 starts…

    With a good kicker in Atlanta he’d be 5-1.

    But keep up that Winston hate you pieces of trash, I need clowns here that I can mock.

  26. WutdaBucisthis Says:

    I had the total points wrong but the spread right… by 7… great game all around. Screw any haters today

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @Rod Munch

    Exactly.

    Panthers defense stepped up to slow down our offense in the second half, but they did exceptional in the first half.

    Having a defense and a kicker worth spit makes all the difference in the world 🙂

  29. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ Buccaneer Bonzai

    You are delusional

    ………….but we already know this

  30. Zwak Says:

    Good job no picks for the second week and the defense was better also!

    Two wins in a row is a streak.

  31. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Oh wow

    nice bears game

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Now, wouldn’t it be a kicker if the teams ahead of us in the playoff hunt went on losing streaks?

  33. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @TheBucsAnthem

    I’m not delusional…I’m faithful.

    Delusional is always predicting bad things. You know…like TMax.

  34. JimmyJack Says:

    Awesome Game Bucs!!!! Lots of great things happening for this team. I don’t wanna see any relent.

    Brush up some critical mistakes made today and let’s tee off on Brees next week and kick some more ass!!!

  35. Zwak Says:

    Playoff talk really..

  36. TheNorm Says:

    Good job today.

    Winston played well.

  37. JimmyJack Says:

    F***ing professional has arrived in Tampa!!! Beat New Orleans and establish yourself as a contender…….We will likely still get knocked out of contention but let’s give New Orleans a taste of what will be coming next year.

  38. Rod Munch Says:

    Great great job by the defense today, totally unexpected in my mind. The Bucs defense truly is a different team at home – no idea why, I figured it was the 2nd and 5th string QBs they were facing. But hey, whatever gets it done.

    Very good pressure by the d-line today, they brought it most of the day.

    Adams had a career day out of nowhere.

    Who knows, maybe this propels the team to win them all down the strech. It’s a tough schedule, it’s very very unlikely, but when you have a franchise QB you have a chance.

  39. JimmyJack Says:

    Professional football*”

  40. Dapostman Says:

    Aaron Rodgers lost AGAIN!! Matt Ryan lost AGIN!!!

    Team sport Winston Derangement Syndrome simpletons. Jameis Winston is making you clowns who want to run him out of town look like fools.

    20-30 249 yards 2 Td’s 0 int. 0 fumbles
    5 rushes 48 yards

  41. Rick Says:

    The panthers’ offense has become one dimensional. McCaffrey is 80% of the offense. You stop him, panthers have nothing. We didn’t stop him, but the Bucs did enough to limit his impact. Also the relentless pressure from the front seven lead to all the take aways. Same game plan for the saints. Take kamara away, dial up the pressure to the qb and the Bucs are in business! Jameis has to stay hot and more importantly, no turn overs!
    Go Bucs!!

  42. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Playoffs!?!?!

    Playoffs!?!?!?!?!

    DON’T TALK TO ME ABOUT PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!! (Jim Mora)

  43. Dooshlarue Says:

    Damn nice win!
    We haven’t given up and are getting better.
    If JW has another solid game next week I might buy him an Uber ride to Publix and pay for the crab legs too!!!

    Go Bucs!

  44. tmaxcon Says:

    good win and the most talented player in franchise history jameis winston played very well. that all being said, it’s awful sad when your practice squad doubles the int production of the starters in one game. pathetic actually. bucs rosters is full of sec backups at best.

  45. aj Says:

    Hopefully Jameis sees this is the way to win in the NFL. But, the front office needs to get him a line that can block consistently. Give him a run game and play action.

    But, even with the last two weeks, he’s got four left to prove he is it. Play hard, but play smart.

    And every single one of those guys on defense that were sitting on their couches a few weeks ago, they all deserve a game ball. They came in today with a giant chip on their shoulder and did what had to be done.

  46. Bucsdelight Says:

    Hats off to the team today. A well rounded effort. Great to see our team come together. Also, kudos to Jameis, hope he keeps it up the rest of the year.

  47. D-Rome Says:

    What a wonderful win by the Bucs! Division games are usually exciting and this one was no exception. Congratulations to the team, well deserved win!

  48. bucfan999 Says:

    Anyone who says Winston should be let go needs to find a new team to root for. Winston is the future of this team at QB, Fitzmagic is over it’s Famous Jameis time tor the foreseeable future.

    As far as Koetter……I’m still not sold on him. He makes to many questionable calls. That challenge today was just plain stupid. Replay showed there was no way he was going to win that challenge, just a waste of a time out that could have been needed at the end of the game. He also tries to run the ball to much, the Bucs are a pass first team, the OL is not good run blockers. I like him but I’m not sold on him.

  49. Fire Light Says:

    This is the Jameis we all know and love. Jameis Bashers are crying in their beer. Famous Jameis Winston!

  50. Fire Light Says:

    Next year is looking pretty interesting. New uniforms, new front office, Koetter gone and Licht Fired!

  51. Buc4evr Says:

    Congratulations to the team. Great effort today, no complaints. Winston played smart today and took sacks instead of interceptions.

  52. Bucsalltheway Says:

    Lock Adam’s up and release DeSean immediately the offense was super focused without desean….if we had Howard we would have put up more points

  53. Jean Lafitte Says:

    Jameis played one helluva smart game today. Kudo’s to Jameis!

  54. Dover Buc Says:

    This was awesome!!! I hate losing but I hate this negative bull spit by these fans. The Bucs will be the Saints and smash the Ravens. Let’s go Bucs!!!! D’s playing good, Jameis is playing good and our wide receivers are the best in the league. A lot of positives moving forward.

  55. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Yeah

    I believe DJAX has now become a distraction for the team

    ..

  56. Dapostman Says:

    The BucsAnthem is now just like Lakeland………..

  57. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

    Gotta give props where props are due and Jay Miss played a second turnover free game in a row! I can only remember one ill-advised throw today.

    Well eat a lot of it and occupy your fingers and mouth with something other than this message board you Jameis Basher.

  59. PolkFan Says:

    Gerald McCoy forced a lot of bad throws and I believe 2 picks but ofc it will go unrecognized

  60. Taylor Says:

    Same fans on here want jameis out of town and the same fans ready to move to New England hahaha

  61. Taylor Says:

    Also, most of yall wanted us to draft the Alabama QB who got…yeah…. I know hurt…..but also got replaced and….outplayed by the backup…who was ONCE the starter…should we draft him too? Fools

  62. SchlomieBarmitzahCircumScissorStein Says:

    Get rid of the current uniforms.

  63. cmurda Says:

    Andrew Adams has to win Defensive Player of the Week. Couple weeks ago I didn’t know this kid’s name and all of a sudden I’m hoping he gets signed to a long term contract.

  64. cmurda Says:

    @ Alvin. That one ill-advised throw looked worse because of an uncalled PI against Car. J Dub has been playing excellent football. I hope it continues. Watching him willing to take a sack instead of a bad throw or taking off with the ball was a thing of beauty. By the way, we all laughed at Winston’s 40 time but he’s pretty darn quick in game speed. I like what I’m seeing. I’d love to give Dirk the credit but it was Dirk who failed to start Jameis against the Skins and G-Men. That’s what sunk the ship. Unless we win out or at least go 3-1 down the stretch,Dirk is still gone.

  65. HeavyE Says:

    Thank God, for the Win today. Go BUCS!!!!

  66. Please Says:

    Honestly, the offense should’ve put up at minimum one more score. 4 turnovers and the O can only squeak out 3 touchdowns? Panthers had a chance to win this twice and the d held. Not good the offense couldn’t close it out when they had the chances.

    Feels good to win, but feeling negative-nancy about the Saints.

  67. Sumo Says:

    Good job not turning the ball over Jameis. Now he knows how important it is not to turn it over. Keep protecting the ball and we win. Simple as that.

  68. Owlykat Says:

    If we keep playing like this we need to keep Koetter, Duffner, and Monken, but we must not reward D. Smith with a LT contract. He was beaten like a drum and had holding penalties and Benenoch is the worst OL we have and should never been allowed to start. All that is on our OL Coach without a clue, Warhop. Koetter should be allowed another year only if he agrees Monken call all plays on Offense and he fires Warhop. Otherwise Jameis is going to get injured again. He is playing great now with no turnovers and he deserves to be fully protected. Cross needs to be there to protect him on third downs and has good hands to be an outlet receiver if the other side does not blitz. Rodgers is too small and was overpowered today too often. Duffner has produced a miracle Defense. We need to start Harris and Adams as our starting Safeties from now on. We need their playmaking abilities. We need to keep playing Vea as a starter as well who really helped our other pass rushers to succeed today. Jackson needs to be traded for a third round pick. Chris Godwin played great today and gives us a second starting WR with top WR quality like Mike Evans. Adam Humphries needs a long term contract too. Go Bucs—Run the table.

    “Gerald McCoy forced a lot of bad throws and I believe 2 picks but ofc it will go unrecognized”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Very true & well said, @PolkFan. Gerald had a hand in those things for sure. He also needs some credit for being the one to emotionally pull this defensive line together to play lights out football for one another.
  70. TOM Says:
    I think the teams red unis brought out the devil in them. Keep it up.
