America Keeps Her Honor

December 30th, 2018

Staying.

Best news of the day came earlier this morning when Adam Schefter of BSPN reported common sense and reason has won the day at One Buc Palace.

America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, will return as your Buccaneers quarterback, baby!

The only way Joe can see this day getting any better is if the Bucs keep their top-10 pick (and maybe a top-five pick) in next spring’s draft and lose to the Dixie Chicks.

What a fine day this second-to-last day of 2018 is!

Yes…the only responsible thing to do….we must find out !

  2. Hakim Says:

Good news. Now get rid of Koetter.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

So…..the Best fan site for the Bucs roots for a loss?

    Wow, that is purely disgusting.

  4. johnny Says:

there are no better options. it’s a good decision. it may not be universally popular.

  5. HeavyE Says:

Yes, let’s go Jameis, beat the Falcons today, and turn this Franchise around! Go BUCS!!! Bucs4Life!!!!

  6. Tampabucfan88 Says:

Suck it Jameis haters oh yea lol

  7. Onetrickpony Says:

Now if the keep JL,we’re screwed.
Can’t wait to see which bag they will pull out the next coach from

  8. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

    Thank god,

Please Jamies save us from damnation

  9. Hodad Says:

This tells me the Glazers want to see what a new coach can do with him next year, smart business decision. Hopefully a better G.M. will also come in to put better talent around him. Paid close attention to Bama’s L.T. last night. Kids a stud, plug him in for the next ten years, and move on from Smith. He’d be my #1 pick for the Bucs. Fix the O line, defense, Jameis will be fine.

  10. swissPolitics Says:

    Honor?

  11. MadMax Says:

Goog. Ive been saying all along keep him 1 more year. Lets see what the new staff can do with him. plus lets see if his decision making and accuracy gets better. I’d still draft a QB though, probably 2nd round, especially id Daniel Jones or Haskins is there. Nothing wrong with having a young talented backup for those days when the bad JW shows up. And good gosh if he has one more off field incident, he’s probably gone.

  12. Fartman Says:

Cementing mediocrity for years to come.

  13. MadMax Says:

    “Good” (still waking up)

  14. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

Koetter is definitely getting fired after today’s game!

    Celebrate Bucs fans!!!!!!!!

  15. Troy Says:

The only way the day gets better is if Dirk and Licht are packing their sh1t and getting out of One Buc Place forever as soon as this game ends.

  16. Bird Says:

    Tsmpabaybucfan

So us beating saints last year in meaningless game was smart because we lost out on quinton Nelson who would have played in Caleb Benenoch spot. Who would have played 10 years for bucs at that spot.

He made pro bowl as rookie this year.

You play to win the game but sheeesh

  17. The Buc Realist Says:

2019 will be another wasted Buc season!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Alanbucsfan Says:

The Bucs lead the NFL in drives ending in turnovers.
They need to draft OLinemen to fix this and create running game.
Their draft strategy should be based on getting OLinemen.

  19. DBS Says:

Here comes another losing season and more excuses.

  20. Bird Says:

I wonder if they already have someone that has committed to be head coach next year and they gave ok on Jameis ?

After all , the analysts find it weird how quiet the Bucs have been about search

  21. NPRSageBoy Says:

Lose today and draft a replacement for JsyMiss! Even a JuCo dropout would be an improvement.

  22. Dan Says:

Why am I not surprised. Whatever keeps this franchise loosing is always what the Glazers will do. Disgusting.

  23. Dumpster Fire Says:

When you fight for your limitations, that’s exactly you’ll be left with. This is proof that the Glazers don’t care about the fans. I wish they would sell the team already.

  24. BrianBucs Says:

Of course this is great news for Joe, as now he can count on at least one more year of many clicks and post on this site every time he post something about Winston.
What would now be absolutely perfect for Joe is if the Bucs would announce that they have signed Johnnie Football Manziel (You know, the guy Joe once heavily pined for) as the backup QB. I hear he’s available

  25. Buc4life Says:

Thank you Glazers! Now get a new coaching staff and bring a new identity to this team.

  26. Lightningthunder Says:

Only 24 years old, this book is not finished yet.

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

So…..all excited about keeping Jameis but want him to go out and lose…….that makes sense.

  28. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

Will Joe and the sheep be as excited when jw3 is losing next year as well??????????

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. Bad Influence Says:

Great news…. for Saints, Falcons, and Panthers fans.

  30. BrianBucs Says:

Annnnd, the Glazers continue to make horrible decisions. Is anybody really surprised?
Hopefully somebody will tell them that you can’t win your division if you have the 4th best starting QB in it

  31. Howard Cosell Says:

    Poor Winston.
He loves winning and he’s stuck in Tampa working for the worst owners in professional sports. A guy like McCoy was perfect for that position…Winston not so much

  32. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

The reason i am a JW fan is the heart & soul that he puts into this, with a relentless work ethic and a true love for the Bucs, his teammates and Tampa Bay.

Some players come into their own on a different time line than others. Jameis had to overcome some immaturity, on and off the field.

I truly believe he is rounding into the best player he can be, with better to come. I am aware that I could end up being wrong.

But JW is someone I want to root for, because of his passion for this. Hopefully he can still achieve great things right here in Tampa Bay.

  33. Lubby Smith Says:

    What a bizarre headline.

  34. futureman Says:

No idea why any buc fan would be happy about this decision. The team has done nothing but lose with Jameis at QB, I don’t know why anyone would expect one more year to be any different. Team needs a complete top-down overhaul.

  35. #1bucfan Says:

#3 doesn’t need anymore weapons. He needs a better O-Line an jury still out on Rojo but Winston has plenty weapons we should focus on better coaching fixing the trenches an a better defense plzzz

So…..the Best fan site for the Bucs roots for a loss?

    Wow, that is purely disgusting.

    …………………………

    I agree.

  37. Conte Piscatelli Says:

You never go into a season expecting a rookie to start at quarterback. Either he plays well and gets a new contract, players well and moved on after next season, or he plays poorly and we move on with perhaps a new quarterback that we drafted and let get up to speed while the new coaches evaluate Jameis.

  38. down in the dirt Doug Says:

The ones that are slamming Winston so hard are the same ones always picked last in all elementary kick ball games. So we are keeping Jameis.GIVE THEM HELL NEXT YEAR JAMEIS.Thanks for the early new years present.

  39. Wausa Says:

    Good to know
    They have some sense

  40. Zwak Says:

    Well said #1bucsfan

  41. Cobraboy Says:

    Meh

Six of one, half a dozen of another

  42. BrianBucs Says:

I’m just really hoping that announcing they are bringing Winston back doesn’t scare off some potential head coaching candidates. Taking this head coaching position knowing you will have Winston forced on you is like throwing a drowning man an anvil

  43. OneBucPerson Says:

The ball is truly in Jameis’s court, either he improves under a new HC/OC/QBC or we let him walk and go after one of the QBs in that loaded 2020 class.

  44. bucnut2 Says:

It’s interesting to see teheyecitemont on this site over retaining a Turnover prone losing QB with off the field issues. Queue the hate, excuses in 3,2,1…

  45. Patrick Says:

What a troll of an article. This fan base is almost as sad as the owners/coaches/players on this team; pathetic!

  46. bucnut2 Says:

    excitement

  47. ATrain Says:

So Jamies is a Top QB in y’all eyes

Or this is another prove it Year

This will be his 5th season so does he need to get better or would y’all pay him100 Million

    I personal don’t see it
I think Jamies is a decent QB but he is not Elite
I don’t think he can take the Bucs to a Super Bowl
    But we will see

So the Question is JOE : If Jamies stays the same do we cut him next year

  48. Architek Says:

Expect the same from the league most turnover prone QB (cough) and I’m not talking about Blake Broytles.

Suck it Jameis haters oh yea lol

    ———–

Many of the people that want Jameis out actually wanted him to get another year so the entire NFL can see what a dumb azz this guy really is..hopefully his last year in the NFL will be his last one..let him go and play in Europe, etc, heck even arena football..

A mediocre QB with FSU homers = bad combo..

  50. tickrdr Says:

    Congrats, Joes!
The “Jelly of the Month” , the gift that keeps on giving ……….. RETURNS!

Great news…. for Saints, Falcons, and Panthers fans.

    ————

Yep..correct..check out Twitter feeds from the announcement..fans in the NFC south laughing at us..

Again, we are the Bucs after all…lol..

  53. lurker Says:

he sure didn’t keep the uber driver’s honor.

  54. WalkdaPlank Says:

    As expected.

Now if we resign him long term…we have a problem.

  55. Chris Says:

Haha good luck finding a head coach and GM that will agree to this

  56. D-Rome Says:

If that’s the case then Griffin should get the start today. At the very least he should play a quarter.

  57. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Here is a novel thought. Instead of rooting for the Bucs to lose….how about rooting for these teams to win?

Jets, Raiders, Lions, Bills, Giants, Jags……

  58. MTM Says:

Rinse and repeat. Fans will be talking about draft pick positions after the 5th game next year.

  59. ATrain Says:

[You are not blocked but if that is your wish Joe can grant your wish with one click of the mouse. —Joe]

    Wow blocked again

    Sad

    The hard questions get blocked

    Just say

    Yea Winston your the best

    Awesome He is the greatest

    Then your post will show

  60. StoutGospel Says:

@Bird…. is the only one who NAILED it! Unfortunately, the Glazers already have an agreement in place with the next HC, which worries me greatly that it’s that Mike McCarthy thing, that can’t create a running game OR A DEFENSE.

McCarthy (or a more improbable surprise HC-doubt it-) gave the A-OK to building on and with Winston going forward, likely cause he sensed that was largely going to GET HIM THE JOB!

And…it might mean the Glazers were too stupid to NOT get in on the JOHN Harbaugh bidding for us!

  61. Krojen Says:

Maybe the next coach wants to tank next year to get his QB.

  62. Pete I Says:

It’s what Beta males do, accept mediocrity

  63. Fire Light Says:

Suck it Jameis Haters! Haha! Jameis is coming back while MeJax and Fitztragic are out of Tampa! Stooped Jameis Haters

  64. Howard Cosell Says:

Lol Glazers can’t pay people enough to sit in the stands

  65. Howard Cosell Says:

So sad for Mike Evans too.

If he played on another better team he’d probably have rings.

    It’s a Bucs life bro!

  66. ATLBUC Says:

How anybody outside of Seminole Homers can think this is a good idea is out of their minds. Not to mention leaking it before the season is even over. No coach in his right mind is going to attach their career to Winsnon. So basically by leaking this today you just cut your coaching canidate pool in half if not worse. If you really think any credible coach just went “oh good Jameis is still gonna be the QB I have to have the Bucs job” you need to be in an institution. This is the beginning of the 5-11 merry go round starting back up. Amazing to me how this Franchise just never seems to learn.

  67. Fire Light Says:

Auclair sucks! 2 bad holds in 2 weeks. What a bum. Get the bright Licht idea out of Tampa.

  68. Howard Cosell Says:

No coach in his right mind is going to attach their career to Winsnon.

Howard likes Winston however this may be very true.

Howard expects a lame weak new HC and a pathetic season in 2019

  69. ATLBUC Says:

I like Winsnon too. Have his jersey hanging in my closet where it will stay. He just sucks at playing QB in the NFL and needs to go.

  70. Bucsace Says:

Welcome to the JameisBucsFan.com website!!!!!! PATHETIC

  71. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

No good QBs coming out in this year’s draft, so we’re stuck with Jay Miss for one more mediocre year.

  72. MadMax Says:

^ Disagreed….Daniel Jones, Haskins, Grier….Id even take inshew in the 3rd if we could get our 3rd back….theres a baker mayfield feel to him.

  73. MadMax Says:

“Minshew” good gosh i cant type today…..typos galore

  74. SteelStudBuc Says:

    @Joe
You know Jameis isn’t a pro bowler this year. U can remove that title… take America’s Quarterback off too.

  75. Rob Says:

Boy, that should stabilize the franchise. Joe’s favorite turnover machine gets 20 million to fumble and throw picks. Goodie. Lets go out and beat the Falcons and pick 12th instead of 5th and that will help long term too. Joke of a franchise has no clue what they are doing. Go Bucs!

  76. SteelStudBuc Says:

    @Rob
Real stabilizing force that Jameis Weinstein is. He’s not even a captain on this team anymore.

  77. Pittsshore Says:

Let’s hope he is wrong. The criminole is doing his typical padding of stats at the end of the year during meaningless games.

  78. Matts17 Says:

Huge mistake by the franchise. Again. The smart move would’ve been to attempt a trade. Maybe to Jax for Fournette and exchange of picks. Target a FA as a holdover until next year with a better QB draft class.

With this move the Bucs are simply continuing their own misery.

  79. Tval Says:

Try, ONCE, to be objective fans, as those who are supporters and still criticize elements of his game. Nobody, that supports Winston, has heard a, SINGLE, reasonable explanation as to why he should be let go…PERIOD!! Now if a team offers a wentz/Cleveland type deal, sure, nobody could blame the Bucs. And a team, like, Minnesota, Jax, Tennessee, Denver would be IDIOTIC to not attempt to retain Jameis as their franchise moving forward. The grass is ALWAYS greener, right?

  80. wisconsinbucsfan Says:

Not good news, more mediocrity, hope they bring back Dirk not fair to saddle a new coach with ATM.

  81. Buc_4_life Says:

    Pro bowler?

I missed that, he made the pro bowl?

Unless your’e talking about several years ago when Brady decided to skip it to due to making the post season and gave JW his spot, then shouldn’t you really say pro bowl alternate?

Keep pro claiming JW a pro bowler just further highlights he isn’t a playoff QB.

Bring back JW for 2019 maybe it means we get a good pick for 2020…. what a joke.

    JW is W – 21 L – 32

In % that’s worse than: every starting QB in our division, Mariota, Bucs Backup Fitzpatrick, Saints Backup Bridgewater, Panthers backup QB Derek Anderson, and Falcons backup Matt Schaub.

That is 100% true, Jamie’s Winston has the 8th best winning percentage QB in our division. I didn’t believe that until I looked it up. Wow.

  82. Pittsshore Says:

    Tval: you dumb dude.

  83. Pittsshore Says:

    JW: 3-9
    Fitzpatrick: 2-2

    Just saying.

  84. jruss Says:

@Pittsshore Fitz is 2-5 steelers, bears, panthers, redskins and giants.

    Just saying…

  85. jruss Says:

Fitz is 2-5 what games did you watch?

  86. Jeagan1999 Says:

Sure, why not bring him back under a 1 year option pick up. No long term commitment necessary. But drafting another young guy as an insurance policy is the only responsible thing to do. Thru 4 complete seasons, Winston is nowhere near a top 10 or even top 15 QB on the field, and has proven irresponsible off it. No matter whether Koetter is back, or a brand new coaching staff comes in….no way I’m putting all my eggs in Winston’s basket anymore!

  87. L-Town Buc Says:

Jameis said he has not heard anything from the Bucs. I say fire Koetter, damn sure don’t pay the turn over machine $20 million. You can’t reward everything he’s done this season on and off the field. Draft Will Grier, guy has deep ball accuracy, Jameis doesn’t , no off the field nonsense, not like 3, He can fly on his feet when he needs to, not like doughboy Winston, has a Breese like release , gets it out very quickly. Draft him and some OL , Bring in a great offense minded coach and sure up the 2ndary , bring Bell in (never happen) and we will be great 👍🏻
