Playoffs In Range

October 22nd, 2018

“Hurry back, big fella.”

The Eagles and Cowboys? They have records worse than the Bucs’.

The Bears, Seahawks and Lions. They’re tied with the Bucs.

If the playoffs started today, the NFC Wild Cards would be the Panthers (4-2) and Packers (3-2-1). So the 3-3 Bucs are right on the doorstep.

Admit it, you’d have been profoundly satisfied if the football gods came to you in August and told you the Bucs would be 3-3 a week before Halloween. No early draft talk this year!

Still on the Tampa Bay schedule are the Giants, 49ers, Cowboys and Falcons, bad football teams with a mess of injuries and flaws. The remaining six games are against winners, strong clubs.

Joe can’t find a reason why the talented but flawed Bucs can’t win enough games to keep things interesting before the season finale at home against the Falcons. Hell, they already punished the mighty Saints in New Orleans.

The full remaining schedule is below:

Sunday, Oct. 28, 1 p.m., at Bengals
Sunday, Nov. 4, 1 p.m., at Panthers
Sunday, Nov. 11, 1 p.m., REDSKINS
Sunday, Nov. 18, 1 p.m., at Giants
Sunday, Nov. 25, 1 p.m. 49ERS
Sunday, Dec. 2, 1 p.m. PANTHERS
Sunday, Dec. 9, 1 p.m. SAINTS
Sunday, Dec. 16, 1 p.m., at Ravens
Sunday, Dec. 23, 1 p.m., at Cowboys
Sunday, Dec. 31, 1 p.m., FALCONS

  1. SKBucsFan Says:

We definitely have had the lightest schedule we have had in a long time. All of these games are winnable. We just need the defense to keep improving under Duffner, our OC to figure out a decent running game, and for Winston to take his meds. No biggie. Right?

  2. Robert Says:

I’ve never changed my stance the bucs will be in the playoffs.

I also know it won’t be yer favorite crabman as QB

    crabman, aka jamis winston

  3. DB Says:

If this team wants to be in the playoffs it has to go at least 5-2 heading into that Ravens game. We have a winnable schedule but this team has to get better and more consistent through 4 quarters.

  4. Dr. Lob Says:

Put Fitz in we might have a chance

  5. The Real Malloy Says:

    The people demand Fitz!

  6. 813bucboi Says:

I see giants and 9ers being winnable….that’s about it…..hoping we make it interesting to say the least….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  7. Jerry Jones Says:

    DE PLANE! DE PLANE!

  8. LifeOfABucFan Says:

If Fitz is at the helm, we stand a dang good chance…

  9. spicoli Says:

People are still on the Fitz train?!!? Fitz has been on how many teams now??? He did extremely well for 2.5 games. The future rests with Jameis to see what he has to decide on keeping him as QB of the future.

  10. Matt from BC Says:

“PLAYOFFS?!?! You wana talk about PLAYOFFS?!?”

  11. Lamarcus Says:

Fitz would have folded faster than the shades he wore after week 2

  12. Ray Rice Says:

    @JOE

You are definitely asking for hits posting that picture…LMFAO… but it should caption something like this, “hurry back McBooty, I need you back on the sidelines to see what playing with balls looks like.”

  13. Dre Says:

Joe Gerald McCoy sucks … the defensive line looked much more coordinated without McCoy … please little man

  14. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

After this demolishing sunday in Cincy all of the warts will once again be very apparent especially the defense which is not improved, that was a ROOKIE qb that was not rattled by an alleged experience defensive coach and team, put on the bears tape and watch dalton to aj green duplicate what mitch did, 49ers and maybe giants only winnable games left and maybe the falcons who could pack it in if they lose tonite

  15. TOM EDRINGTON Says:

Thanks for the needed Monday morning laugh!

  16. buc15 Says:

now I can hear Jim Mora in my head

  17. Dooshlarue Says:

    Hurry back big fella?
    WTF for?
Unless you mean so we can trade him before the deadline.

Also, why can’t we let Fitz come in to the game when JW starts screwing up?
It seems like Fitz is good coming off the bench and doing his thing.
I don’t get the unwritten rule that you can’t do that in the NFL.

  18. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

would that be the same fitz who has played for every damn team in the league twice and has never been anything but a good backup for 2 to 3 games a year…. you low standard losers are absolutely hilarious. jameis is the most important buc of all time get used to. could you imagine if jameis wins a playoff game this year and next he would tie dungy the clown for playoff wins… won’t be long before he surpasses the underachieving has beens in every category that matters…. you fools need to stop living in a failed past…. get you a jameis jersey’s and get on the train. Just like Trump, Jameis is here to stay!

  19. Eric Says:

We are right in the hunt.

Should get to December at no worse than 6-5.

Tighten up the D just a little and it can happen. And make our dang extra points and chip shot field goals.

  20. Dre Says:

Jameis Winston is garbage … he can thank the special teams and defense for saving his butt

  21. Sydney Says:

    “Playoffs In Range”

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

It’s Monday Joe, time to sober up!

  22. Dre Says:

You want playoffs then get rid of McCoy and put Fitz in … jameis will lose games for us

  23. Defense Rules Says:

Have a solution for all those stuck in the Jameis – Fitz quagmire: Unleash the two-headed monster. Play BOTH QBs … in competition. You win, you start again. You lose, you sit. I know, I know, some will scream … ‘Hey, that’s not fair. If Jameis loses to the Panthers, Fitz would get to start against a bad Giants team, and if he wins that one, also against a bad 49ers team.’ Tough titty, get over it … life’s not fair (besides, we’d have 2 more wins AND Fitz would have to start against the Panthers next himself).

You know Joe, while we’re at it, why don’t we do the same thing with the RBs. And also with our RGs. Make them all EARN their starts. Now if we could just find a real GM to pit Jason Licht against. Wow, the ultimate solution. Nah, we’ve gotta wait until the end of this season for that.

  24. Eric Says:

    The special teams saved Winston???

    bwahahahahahahahahahaha

If only every QB could have a missed PAT and blank range field goal missed to help him along……..

    Hilarious.

  25. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

playing 2 qb’s…. buc fans are the dumbest on planet earth.

  26. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

special teams also left the offense with crap field position with mental errors and boneheaded plays. bucs special teams are a joke just like the face of the basement years cancer93

  27. Ken Says:

No west coast games. Those have been a killer in years past.

  28. Dre Says:

Eric great qbs win games … bucs would have lost the game if we didn’t get the fumble on the punt and field goal to win it so yeah jameis didn’t win the game for us …. duh duh duh boy learn football

  29. Not there yet Says:

Man the media in this town is desperate. Playoffs in range in October? Playoffs are in range for everyone even 2-4 falcons lol wow joes you guys are great 90% of the time but that 10% is head scratching like some Winston’s throws. Guess we should act you know anyone can go on a win or losing streak you know like the losing streak the bucs just got off of!!!

  30. Dre Says:

Lol Eric your right you are hilarious

  31. Dre Says:

Eric hands shaking right now trying to type a response he’s so mad lmao

  32. DB55 Says:

Tough ti**y, get over it … life’s not fair
    ————–
Winston is your starter, franchise qb of the Bucs. Get over it! Haha

The fact that all these fans are complaining about Winston and not the miss fgs or extra points is beyond me.

From what I gather you guys want Winston to be perfect. No incompletions, no Ints, no fumbles even with WRs dropping passes an oline with no RG a defense with no mlb, no special teams, weak coaching.

  33. Eric Says:

Yep, bucs have an awesome special teams unit.

Good thing they won that game Sunday.

  34. Tampabucfan88 Says:

I can see us beating the red skins there Defense is questionable and if the d plays like it did yesterday we could win that game ners Giants I can see those wins call me crazy atl is not good on the road this year and they are coming to Tampa at the end of the season I see that as a win so we 4 wins that puts us at 7 we just need to steal two wins three win and we can make it gotta believe Bucs fan gotta believe

  35. Dre Says:

Eric yup they sure did win it for us

  36. DB55 Says:

One more thing to the highly educated Bucs fan. Tom Brady has 6 ints this year almost 1 per game and he’s the greatest QB of all time furthermore if not for his special teams scoring a TD yesterday they lose that game.

Put let’s set unrealistic expectations on your own franchise an.

    #RunJameisRun

  37. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Get it through your THICK RACIST SKULLS , JW is going to be the QB for the BUCS for a very long time and will succeed despite the HATERS. GO BUCS!!!

  38. Dre Says:

No he won’t …. would you pay 100 million to jameis??? Cmon man how many games has he won???

  39. Bucsdelight Says:

Let Winston finish out the season and if he continues being mediocre then we look to the draft for America’s QB. Or we find a vet that can be here for a few years.

  40. Lord Cornelius Says:

If our defense can just be somewhat decent the rest of the year we should have a great chance in every game. Our offense and K needs to clean some sh1t up but we can move the ball on anyone.

  41. Dre Says:

How many turnovers does he have??? How many turnovers in 2 games alone this year??? How many receivers has he overthrown yesterday? Why can’t he connect the deep ball to Desean but can to Evans ??? Let’s look at the qbs Desean has played with in his career who has connected with him no problem! Let’s look at jameis career record and not his stats unless you throw in his interceptions and fumbles … he had 3 turnovers yesterday and 5 passes tipped

  42. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

    JW int % 3.0

    Namath 5.8
    Tarkenton 5.4
    Favre 3.3
    Montana 2.7

You are making my case for me Ty Dre

  43. Dre Says:

How many games has jameis won in his NFL career?? How many turnovers does he have since he returned? I don’t give a crap about Namath… I’m talking about Jameis Winston…, you honestly think he is worth 20 million a season?be logical and not a homer

  44. Dre Says:

Jameis has been turning the ball over since he came to Tampa … what makes you think he will get better now??? Didn’t he say him and Desean worked out all offseason??? Why is there still issues getting him the ball??? Fitz has no issues doing it and he didn’t work out with Desean

  45. Dre Says:

And your comment of being racist baffles me because I’m black so how can I be racist

  46. Dre Says:

    Towards jameis

  47. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

20 million per only puts him at about middle of starting QBs in the league. Most starters not surrounded by a dominant defense will not hit their full potential until year 5 , so he is absolutely worth the 20 mil.

  48. Lord Cornelius Says:

Most of Winston’s turnovers in a season have always come in a few games where he has 2-4 total. In 2015 he had 4 multi-interception games, 7 games with 0 interceptions, and 5 games with 1 each. In 2016 it was 4, 5, and 7. In 2017 it was 4, 8, and 2.

So basically I’m hoping with that trend he is due for a stretch of good play / the majority of the rest of his games should be 1 turnover on average per game or less.

    GO BUCS!

  49. Dre Says:

Lol and that’s why your not a NFL owner thank god

  50. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

My directive toward racists was directed at racists , and they know who they are , however having a specific skin color does not preclude one from being a racist, regardless of what their skin color may be.

  51. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

The completion percentage stat is far more important and that has increased every year due to JW’s rising skill at reading defenses and understanding where to throw the ball.

  52. Dre Says:

Jameis will turn the ball over multiple times next week in cincy … he will do it in Carolina … jameis will be jameis … this is who he is … he’s tied with koetter and pitch and I bet you when koetter is fired if jameis is still here with a new regime he won’t be the opening starter next year… owners would have been signed him by now if they were confident and happy with his production

  53. Dre Says:

    Licht*

  54. spicoli Says:

Fitz also has a track record of being a completely erratic QB and is on his 32 team. Face it Jame-o is the best QB we have on the roster. I only hope for him to get better towards the end of the season like he did last year.

  55. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

The Bucs have picked up his option at 20 mil for next season , that was widely covered in April , so do not be too quick to make that bet about who starts next season.

  56. LakeLand Says:

100% of the teams in the NFL are in the playoff hunt after 6 games.

I’m on record saying that the Bucs won’t make the playoffs

  57. LakeLand Says:

Jameis 5th year option won’t be fully guaranteed until March 2019

  58. Dre Says:

Bucs fan knowing we resigned McCoy your right I wouldn’t put it past ownership

  59. Dre Says:

All I know is with the way jameis plays we will never make the playoffs with him under center

  60. Dre Says:

We had a comfortable lead against Cleveland and jameis turned the ball over which Cleveland took advantage of and almost beat us … do you honestly think after yesterday we could beat Carolina Washington cincy or Atlanta?

  61. Oneilbucs Says:

Man I’m done with this debate about Winston. Let’s just win some games Winston have and will put this team in position to win more than fizpatrick. That game yesterday he would have fold go ask the jets the bills was not a good team that year and he threw 6ints n miss the playoffs. So I rather have a young quarterback that can learn then a guy who played for 8 different teams and never played in a play off game a 14 year vet .

  62. NPRSageBoy Says:

Playoffs? Seriously? With America’s Turnover Machine at QB and dancing Kwon finished, this season is rapidly circling the drain.
I sure wish that Licht hadn’t wasted so many high picks on useless players.

  63. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

What about the missed extra point and the missed 40 yard chippy? What about Howard dropping the 3rd down pass that was right on the money late in the game? What about the total lack of a running game ( JW excluded , he ran it well)? Bucs have to score on average above 30 points a game to win the necessary number to get to the playoffs-that is 10 wins maybe. If you have the best receivers-which we arguably do-you are going to throw a lot of 50-50 balls because you believe your guys are better , INT’s happen.

  64. SOFIERCE Says:

Why are we talking about competing for the “Big title fight” aka the SUPERBOWL when what we saw Sunday was some random girl fight at the Winghouse parking lot. Y’all need to stop with all that BS.

#This is not a Playoff team
    #Showme

  65. Bobby Says:

Dre and others on here have the football IQ of an avacado. Special teams won the game for us?? Please….. ‘Teams’ win and lose games, not individuals. Some positions on the team get greater blame than others when we lose and more credit when we win. Everybody forgets the holding call that brings back a first down throw and puts us in 1st and 20 outside of field goal range but they’ll remember the sack Winston took by holding the ball too long. Both stupid and both costly but why put more emphasis on the play by Jameis? Our O-line is very inconsistent and Winston had people in his face most of the game forcing him to throw early and off target. Cleveland has a good D. We won. I’ll take any win in the NFL, ugly or not. And yes, our defense is going to be better with McCoy. The posts about McCoy are just ridiculous and make me realize just how truly stupid a lot of posters on here are. Let’s ignore the facts and just hate GMC because he’s not Sapp. Last I checked, neither is Suh and he went ahead of McCoy but I think the Rams like him. If you really want to hate McCoy just wait till they trade him and that team kicks our ass with McCoy blowing up our offense.

  66. Rod Munch Says:

The stupid Panthers should be 2-4, that is by far the most annoying team out there. They get a win against the Redskins on a 63 yard FG and the stupid Eagles under Wentz have a 4th quarter collapse. They should be in the basement with Atlanta right now.

  67. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

This is Jameis year to prove he’s worth $100 mill

Take us to the playoffs and you get paid!!!!

  68. Jmarkbuc Says:

    DB55

    Brady is 72 years old.

  69. Easy Says:

I cant help but feel the Cowboys game in December could decide what happens if we make the playoffs or not.

  70. Darin Says:

Dirk will decide if we make the playoffs. Wont put my money on it. The only guy who wont outcoach him he played yesterday, barely eeked that one out. I hope I’m wrong tho. At least we have a d coordinator who will at least try to confuse the offense not his own defense now.

  71. 813bucboi Says:

yeah, lets not talk playoffs….lets talk cincy…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  72. DB55 Says:

    Jmark

And yet he’s 5-2 even with 6 ints.

    Dre
What happened to djax when Winston threw a perfect pass to him in the breadbasket in the end zone. What did djax do?

  73. Carrollwood Buc Fan Says:

Let’s send Noah Spence and a second round pick to AZ for Patrick Peterson. That would certainly help the defense tighten up.

  74. Wesley Says:

    Playoffs 😂

  75. Rob Tanner Says:

@JoeBucsFan can we get a like system on these comments?

  76. Ryan McGregor Says:

No no no, don’t hurry back. Take your sweet time. Better yet, fake an injury and ask to be put on OR and then ask for a trade next off season.

  77. Ryan McGregor Says:

    IR*

  78. SOEbuc Says:

    Joe

Don’t know if you noticed our defensive captain Kwon that was smacking people all over the place yesterday is out for the year. Said that Cichy is has an ACL and we have no clue when Beckwith will return. We have a major problem at LB and almost all of those teams you listed have good/great RB.

  79. Buccfan37 Says:

Bucs facing the Bengals and the heavily fined fat Burfict who leaves injured players lying in his wake, usually Steelers players. Cincinnati, isn’t that the sister city of Tampa? Or once was. The Bucs almost hired the Bengals head coach and he is still there. This will be a difficult win to bring home while being winnable at the same time.

  80. i like gunslingers Says:

i do not think they can beat carolina, not twice anyways, i do not think we sweep saints, i do not think we beat baltimore, nor do i think we beat dallas in dallas that’s 4 losses give ya the giants, 49ers 50/50 sorry i see maybe 2 wins with a five and eleven finish, what kills me is jason licht not doing anything before the trade deadline if he thought we were that close, if the defense was stable, not all these injured players, and they would have got rid of smith at the start of the season and started new scheme and all maybe they would be sitting better but this season has been shipwrecked before it started

  81. Defense Rules Says:

Reality-is-a-Beotch … “Just like Trump, Jameis is here to stay!”

That one statement explains a LOT Beotch. More than you’ll ever know. Now, crawl back under the bridge with the rest of the trolls.

  82. Mike Johnson Says:

    PLAYOFFS???
    Joe, you..Nuttin me up!!!!!

  83. VFL98 Says:

And Only Tampa fans call their qb dumb!!!

  84. German Buc Says:

Let’s focus just on the next game!

  85. Jameis Almighty! Says:

    Fitz sucks.

  86. Dre Says:

So joe thinks jameis has interception issues because he throws too much… so the games he throws interceptions in the first quarter (cough) Sunday was a result of throwing too much? So lets calculate … let side assume jameis three 10 passes in the first quarter … the 11th was a pick… that’s throwing too much?
