Unloads on Bucs defense.
Ian Beckles is as outraged as many Bucs fans are.
The former Bucs offensive guard and popular local radio personality took to his podcast, “In the Trenches,” and took apart the Bucs defense for the “embarrassing” performance they had in Chicago on Sunday.
Beckles didn’t hold back. He thinks Kwon Alexander and Lavonte David have been put into a witness protection program this season, thought Vita Vea played “like a fat, out-of-shape rookie.” And while Beckles said he is tired of talking about Gerald McCoy, a long-time target of Beckles, he then said if the Bucs can get a case of Gatorade for GMC in a trade Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht should not waste any time.
“Go get a case of Gatorade and trade the [SOB],” Beckles said. “Make a play!”
Beckles did not spare Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith, though he added he didn’t think firing Smith would accomplish anything and backed Bucs coach Dirk Koetter’s decision to keep Smith, though it may cost Koetter his job down the road, Beckles said.
“It’s been quite a while since you’ve been there and you should have your players now,” Beckles said, scolding Smith. “You should have your draft picks. You should have your free agents. They should know your scheme.”
Beckles said Smith isn’t helped by having a roster full of what he believes to be soft defenders and said Jason Pierre-Paul is the only baller on the defense. As always, Beckles welcomes feedback at IanBeckles@RadioInfluence.com.

Just for comparisons sake there was another rookie NT in the game named Nichols from Delaware who was drafted in the 5 round who had 4 tackles and a .5 sack.
If you draft an NT in the first he should produce in the same manner imo. But I guess throwing guys around and slowly and I mean slowly chasing the play from behind is also a win I guess.

If gmc is worth a case of gatorade beckles wasnt worth the plastic to fill em. Trade gmc yet agrees with Dirk they shoud keep smitty? Thats about as dumb as can be. For a football guy I expect more. Those soft players would look alot harder if they were allowed to. Show some fuc%ing aggressiveness smitty!! Soft ass. Grow a pair. Almost unwatchable.

For the GMC fans, it’s simple compare his play/tape/stats with other 100mil DTs and you will see a huge difference. Maybe not in stats but definitely in the tape. All these first qrt 2nd down n 2 sacks have you guys confused. Based on his play alone he should be paid no more than 450k per year.

Beckels is a deuchb@g. Obviously didn’t read and watch the video on Joe’s previous article on VV. That was not fat and out of shape. That video was man beast. Kwon and LVD are elite. LVD is in his still in his prime and not old and losing it. Kwon is young and wants to be the leader of this defense. Both could still be amazing LBs. They are getting placed in the wrong spots and not blitzing.
People would blame all the players if that’s why we suck on D. But it’s obviously the coaching and it effects the game play of every defensive player on the field.

Beckles is d#ck bag. VV video Joe posted earlier didn’t look fat and out of shape to me. LVD is still in his prime and not losing it and could still be an All-Star LB. He hasn’t lost it all of a sudden. Kwon is young and wants to be the leader of this D and win. They’re put in the wrong place at the wrong time and don’t blitz. We have a lot of good defensive players. If we didn’t, all this would be on Licht instead of coaching, but even a pee-wee player is saying “what the hell is that defensive formation?” on Sundays.

Gerald McCoy is trash and he’s been stealing money for years. After 9 years he still doesn’t know gap integrity. Reboot the defense and purge useless veterans starting with McCoy THEN Smitty

I love Ian but he would lose his jock against GMC. His claim to fame is blocking against Reggie white along with 31 other players a year or more times 12 years at least (just a guess). It’s like listening to a high school kid sayin “check tape”. Let it go and find something positive to say about the only player on our team in nearly a decade that gets any respect in the nfl. I guarantee no one would ever “game plan” around Ian Beckles. Why do you think they put Reggie White on him? Easy money. Put your greatest player in a position to wreck someone weaker on the other side of the ball

For “fat out of shape rookie” the Bears line sure paid a lot of attention to him. Double teams almost every play. He was shoving those guys around too. Beckles likes to spout off a lot GMC because it gets him in the public eye, when no one really cares about him. Like the fake Twitter wars between celebrities. It’s obvious the D scheme is out dated and predictable and we are playing with a LOT of rookies on the backside. It’s a right mess, but to blame GMC and Vea for it? Dubious.

I saw the light after the micd up segment from the Steelers game. GMC apologized profusely to all 6’5 240 pound Ben rothlisberger, after knocking him down. What kind of crap is that? We needed the second coming of Sapp, we got a 300 pound urkel.
