Quick Locker Room Observations

September 9th, 2018

Claims to be “good.”

Just a few things Joe noticed in the locker room after the record-setting 48-40 Bucs win over the Saints today:

The locker room was incredibly professional in that the team sort of expected to win. Sure they were happy with the win, but there wasn’t any kind of celebration one would expect. Almost a business-like mentality. “Great, we won, cool. Now we have to prepare for the Eagles.”

Joe has seen the locker room in past years after a win (they didn’t come by too often) where it was a party-like atmosphere. Yelling, laughter, pranks, you name it. Not today, though.

* Joe noticed cornerback Vernon Hargreaves leave the locker room with his left arm in a sling. Joe asked him about his injury and Hargreaves said he would be good.

* Same with DeSean Jackson who told Joe he would be fine. However, he had his right shoulder wrapped with a bag of ice. That shoulder was seen getting iced and massaged on the TV broadcast before Jackson left with a concussion.

* Joe saw left tackle Donovan Smith walk into the trainer’s room without a limp or wearing a brace. Smith, of course, kept his streak alive of never missing an NFL start, despite suffering a strained knee injury in training camp.

Hope these guys are good to go next week

    Hargreaves looked solid.

    Desean a beast

Let them not practice all week. Rest. Rest. Rest
Now grimes back would be huge although eagles down receivers as well.

I had a hard time seeing what actually happened to both Hargreaves or Jackson. Glad to see the are dinged but ok!

Great news on Donovan! The O line played great today. Not one sack given up and Fitzmagic was… MAGIC!

    GREAT WIN!

    GO BUCS!

  3. Doctor Stroud Says:

The “business-like mentality” is great to hear, Joe! Let’s hope Hargreaves and DJax but also Vea and Grimes make it back. The Eagles have had a few more days to prepare and were no doubt watching this game.

  4. JabooBuc Says:

OLine was very good today. This team is dangerous if they can stay healthy.

  5. Howard Cosell Says:

This team needs Hargreaves and Grimes badly

  6. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

Having the Super Bowl veterans on the team may be helping them keep their focus. They no longer view themselves as the Yucs…

    “business-like mentality”

Sounds good to me. We’ve seen this team fall apart after an opening day win many times in the past.

  8. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

gump should have drafted derwin james

  9. Jameis Says:

    Ruh rooh!

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

Lookayear..If Fitz wins 3 in a row? Mr. Winston needs to..ride the wood a few more games. Don’t get mad Jameis supporters. Just sayin…….. You gotta ride a winner until his magic either disappears or is incapacitated.

  11. dmatt Says:

I’m tired of mike smith’s laid back defense. Be gone n let Brenster Buckner take over or let’s go for all the marbles n bring in Greg Williams.

  12. Buc68 Says:

I’m a Bucs supporter. Jameis is better than Fitz, just like he was in the preseason. That said, if the Bucs are 3-0 you absolutely keep playing Fitz.

  13. Proudbucsfan Says:

I know that the aints have one of the best O lines in the league. I was still expecting a lot more from our pass rush. I was very disappointed we did not put more pressure on Drew Brees. That is very worrisome

    Mike johnson

Give the oline credit. They blocked well and fitz had a clean pocket to throw from all game long. We could not say that last year. The skill postions were able to show their skills. Thats why i laughed at the idiots who wanted to trade djax. You can see the talent when the oline does their job.

  15. BucNole Says:

anyone calling for Fitz to start after JW is ready is smoking crack

  16. RODNEY J ALLEN Says:

I can kinda see winston sitting till after biweek after what I saw Chicago do to Green Bay. Not sure if their dline is that good or GB oline is that bad. Shame seeing Rodgers get hurt. At least he came back

  17. RODNEY J ALLEN Says:

Everyone been talking about first 3 games but after today dont sleep on Chicago and Cleveland (might of been a tie but it’s against Pittsburgh a high rivalry game) they ended their losing streak

  18. RODNEY J ALLEN Says:

Everyone been talking about first three games but don’t sleep on Chicago and Cleveland both played division rivals. Cleveland tied Pitt n Chicago looks like they might win

  19. adam from ny Says:

the saint’s are not that good bruh…come on…before last year their previous record was either 7-9 or 8-8 for like 3 years straight…i get it, they’re better now, and had a big year last year and drafted kamara…they’re a good team…but so are we…just don’t look at last years record…haha

  20. Owlykat Says:

dmat, right on. Buckner can fix our terrible Smitty fiasco defense with the players we have right now. Koetter better quit enabling Stubborn Smitty’s Continuing Disaster of a Defense. He came in talking about changing up with a three four defense and keeping offenses guessing. Then all he produced was this stupid last place embarrassment defense and hasn’t learned one thing from his wrecking our win rate last year. He is as big of a bum as Clueless Lovie and he is wasting the talent of our press corner Corner Backs. Koetter needs to suck it up and rid our Bucs of this Stubborn Fool who was fired by the Falcons for his bad defense and was only gifted the DC job by Koetter. Koetter better put the need of his Team over his friendship with his former boss who was the reason he lost his job at the Falcons. The Bucs now have the talent to win this division and go deep into the playoffs.
