“He Plays Like A Linebacker”

September 16th, 2018

“Fearless”

Ryan Fitzpatrick has big-name fans in the NFL quarterback community.

One of them is a three-time Pro Bowler with a winning career record.

He’s newly retired Carson Palmer, a Fitzpatrick teammate for two years in Cincinnati (2007 and 2008), loves the entertainment value of Fitzpatrick.

“He’s one of my top 2 or 3 favorite quarterbacks to watch; he plays like a linebacker,” Palmer said of Fitzpatrick on the PFT PM podcast last week. “He tries to run over safeties and run through people. He can absolutely spin it. He can take off and run on you and scramble for first downs. He’s just so much fun to watch for me.”

Palmer went on to say Fitzpatrick is a “blast” to be around and is “absolutely fearless on the football field.”

Palmer’s description sure fit last Sunday, especially when the Bucs called a quarterback keeper at from the 3 yard line and Fitz busted through a tackle and scored.

Joe wonders if Fitz’s style is doomed to get him hurt at 35 years old — if he were ever to be a full-time starter again. Scrambling led to a broken leg for Fitz in December of 2014, a year in which he was 6-6 as a starter for the Texans.

Adam Schefter just reported on NFL game day that Jamison Winston is not expected to be the starter wants his suspension is over. JBoo who

  2. horse liver Says:

The “experts” making the proclamations about who starts when Winston’s suspension is over are pounding sand up their own hind ends. The answer to that is “it depends” and it’s amazing how few people seem to get that point.

@Godeep66 You sound like a true fan, elated by then do snide if a Buccaneers player. This is Jameis team butch you will hear me screaming the support of Fitz until then. Fitz Fury!

Go cheer for Mariota and the Titans!

@Godeep66 You sound like a true fan, elated by the demise of a Buccaneers player. Delusional.

This is Jameis team butch you will hear me screaming the support of Fitz until then. Fitz Fury!

Go cheer for Mariota and the Titans!

  5. Jmarkbuc Says:

Schefter’s story is the same old rehash…

    Nothing to see here

  6. BucNut33 Says:

*Sorry for the double post. Auto-correct word jumble.

  7. PSLBob Says:

Unless Fitz stinks up the next 2 games, which I hope he doesn’t, Jameis will start Week 6 against the Falcons. If Fitz has a melt down then Jameis will start Week 4 against The Bears.

  8. Casual Observer Says:

Fitz’s game last week was one of the best QB performances I’ve seen. Much due to our outstanding set of receivers and TEs (best in the NFL). But Fitz was great. I expect a fine game from him today – even against this tougher defense. We’ll see. Should be fun to watch.

  9. Bird Says:

    It’s not rocket science

You go with the hot hand. If Fitz wins today and loses at Pitt , the Pitt loss would have to be a really bad game for him.

GM and coach on hot seat. They need to win now. Unless glazers step In and say they are safe. But not likely

Go fitzmagic. Gonna be tough game.

  10. Fartman Says:

Jameis won’t play until Fitz loses the job.

  11. Oneilbucs Says:

Why do some of y’all have so much faith in fizpatrick? Even if he play well today he has never lead a team to the playoffs. He been on some playoff teams he just couldn’t get them there . The jets, Texans, was both playoff teams and he all ways play bad when they need him that’s why you have to go with Winston when he comes back cause that’s our franchise quarterback weather you like it or not .

  12. LakeLand Says:

Nick Foles wins a Super Bowl and is awarded the MVP.,and he’s still the backup, once Carson Wentz is cleared to play.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has ONE good game and everyone has given him Jameis Winston starting job.

There’s more to this than Jameis Winston the QB

  13. Wausa Says:

Ridiculous comments always hit this board
Jamies will be the starting QB either week 4 or 6.

  14. LakeLand Says:

Just as I figured DE Noah Spence is inactive

  15. DB55 Says:

What you guys fail to realize is that according to Koetter Ryan Griffin is the best pure qb on the team. If Fitz loses then Griffin will lead his team. Lmao I’m drunk and you guys sound just as silly.

  16. DB55 Says:

Wait! Rojo is inactive? What in the world is going on out there? Licht might as well start trade his 2nd round picks.

  17. JimBuc2 Says:

LakeLand, I think Spence#57 is a trade-bait slub; just haven’t seen than ‘mental growth’ that Coach Buck demanded of him. Considering that Carl Nassib was plucked off the street virtually at game time and produced, the time wasted on Spawn is particularly odious. Here’s hoping GM Licht can do a deal that nets the team a veteran CB, or Oline player. Go Bucs!!

  18. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “Joe wonders if Fitz’s style is doomed to get him hurt at 35 years old — if he were ever to be a full-time starter again.” What makes Fitz so much fun to watch is that he does have a linebacker’s mentality. He does WHATEVER IT TAKES to keep the TEAM moving forward … love that about him. Guys who play cautiously so as to keep from getting injured usually get injured in my experience playing & coaching various sports.

  19. 1Gr8Buc Says:

Unfortunately (for our overall record) Fitz will revert to his bad playing today.

  20. Not there yet Says:

Godeep66 is undercover Cleveland browns fan after jumping off the bills bandwagon

Winston will be back soon, your just trolling yourself really because he will play even if it’s after the bye week. Such a hater

  21. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

The week before, Palmer did not pick the Bucs to beat the Saints, so far as I am concerned, all these media guys are hypocrites.

Shut the F up. Go away. Don’t you have another team you can whine about?
