Flip Side Of The Injury Report

September 7th, 2018

Good news.

Yeah, the groin-stomp of news that Brent Grimes has an injured groin leaves Joe moaning.

Just the thought of Ryan Smith playing against Drew Brees makes Joe sick. This Smith has no business being on an NFL field (and Joe isn’t sure he has any business playing defense on an AAF field) other than special teams (which he is very good at). Smith playing defense is going to get someone fired.

If one can glean good news from today’s injury report, it is left tackle Donovan Smith was a full participant in practice. Though he is listed as “questionable,” just the fact he has participated in a full practice is good news.

What that means for Sunday, we will find out Sunday.

I’m glad he’s playing on Sunday. He’s solid

  2. Chris in WA Says:

There is absolutely no reason to be playing 7+ yard off coverage with Brent Grimes out. Let the CB’s that will be starting play press. Adjust your game plan based off what is available and the strengths of your players Mike Smith or don’t get back on that plane from New Orleans after the game!!!!!

  3. Back2bucball Says:

Oh he’s gonna play, our iron-man will be ready

  4. Grt1 Says:

Most underrated LT in the nfl

  5. Trench War Says:

He needs to be starting cause this looks like a possible shoot-out and Fitz will need some time.

  6. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

There was so many haters before D Smith went down. Now everyone is relieved that he most likely will play this Sunday. I agree, he is not probowl material but I definitely believe he is in middle of the pack for LT. He is still young with good measureables. Still time for him to excel.

  7. louis Says:

three step dropback passes…minimize their pass rush and walk the ball down te field with passes to set up the run, eat up the clock and keep Brees off the fiels as much as possible!

  8. Wesley Says:

    This team is screwed.

  9. Dooshlarue Says:

Yeah, I can’t wait for those timely penalties he’s so fond of making.
Don’t be surprised if he gets his ass kicked on Sunday.

  10. unbelievable Says:

Gonna have to put up 25+ at least to have a chance with Grimes out and d-line depth already banged up.

  11. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    52 saints

    9 bucs

  12. TBAP Says:

It’s pretty sad, but also funny at the same time Reality-is-a-dummy has nothing better to do then to bash the team. Get a life dude!

  13. JimmyJack Says:

Dang Joe…….You ripped into R.Smith there pretty good. I can’t say it wasn’t warranted. Smith was awful last year……..though I don’t think that his awful play last year has to dictate that he can’t play his position.

They did hold onto Smith for a reason. I imagine the guy must be a very hard worker to make the roster again this year. Ryan Smith should take great pride in that………..I will be rooting for the guy in every way no matter how the staff decides to use him but like you and most others I am hoping to see Carlton Davis if Grimes is out. I was very impressed with Carlton in our 2nd preseason game. He showed some very nice speed and had had some focus to him that is rare to see from a rookie DB.

    GOO BUCS!!!

  14. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

Let’s play some press now that Grimes is out…

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Snakebite….two days before season….Down goes Grimes.

  16. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

    @ Reality-is-a-Beotch 52 saints 9 bucs

It’ll be much closer. I think the bucs lose by a touchdown.

  17. DanBucsFan Says:

Glad Donovan will be playing. And IMO our rookie cb’s will rise to the occasion Sunday. Hopefully Ryan Smith is just on roster to contribute on special teams and not defense. 34 – 17 Bucs !

  18. Alexander Nascimento Says:

Amem to what “Chris in WA” and “First Down Tampa Bay” have said!!!

    Go Bucs!!!

  19. Buchead5588 Says:

I don’t wish grimes to be out but might be blessing in disgue makes mike smith actually let our players play to there strengths press man an our DL should be getting to the QB this game isn’t lost we got this GoBucs

  20. Bird Says:

Don’t think grimes gets his full contract.

I think it was games played , number of picks and bucs reach playoffs to get full amount on escalators.

We do need him back. It’s tough getting old and trying to compete at high level. Father Time never loses.

  21. Bird Says:

Key will be offensive and defensive lines . Hopefully Caleb benenoch is an upgrade to

    JR was a backside skeezer

  22. Buc407 Says:

I have so much hope for this game and this season….. but I always do….and I’m always disappointed…

  23. Godeep66 Says:

Grimes is laughing his way too the bank along with his cracked out wife.

Silver Lining Alert: we will be able to Draft Will Grier as the number one pick in next year’s draft. Total clean house. JW should be the first one to go. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Wesley Says
    “This team is screwed.”

Oh no! We’re missing one starter due to injury! Whatever will we do?! If only we had great backups besides Smith!

    Oh, wait…we do!

And, btw, people…a groin does not mean Grimes is done.

  25. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Okay, clearly Godeep66InsideMe is a troll…

  26. Bird Says:

    ^^^^^

Agree. Don’t think” Godeep into a guy’s junk “has ever said anything positive about the Bucs on this site.

Keanu Neal torn acl. Huge loss for Falcons. Every team is going thru injuries Hopefully grimes is back for game 2. We need him.

  27. gp Says:

It would be interesting to see Mika and godeep meet
After about 30 seconds we wouldn’t need to worry about his idiotic posts for at least six months
Kinda hard to do anything when you’re in a full body cast!

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Grimes injury can’t be too bad. He is questionable for the game.

  29. Bird Says:

    Actually

    He is doubtful I thought

  30. Robertg Says:

Wow, so must negativity from so call fans! We actually have split season series with the Saints for the last 3 years, Our defense has improved via free agency and through the draft and the offense is above average. I’d say time for the backups to step up. Go bucs!

  31. TOM Says:

    D. Smith may be the most overrated tackle in the NFL.

  32. OneBuc55 Says:

    Godeep66…

Is this the same Will Greer that absolutely sucked at Florida…Hopefully you’re joking; if not you have zero credibility on this board…Greer is a career back up at best in the NFL….smh, wow
