Bucs Better Off With Fitz?

September 17th, 2018

Another prediction.

Steve Smith, the man who claimed the Bucs would not win a game until Week 7, has made another bold prediction.

Smith, who said in the video below that the greatest attribute of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is that “he can run,” should be benched because the Bucs are better off with Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Former Seahawks quarterback/fullback/running back Michael Robinson is of the mind Jameis’ days “are on the clock.” Why? Because Jameis is overrated as a leader due to his immaturity.

Joe believes Smith is just flapping his gums. Robinson? Joe’s already written that Jameis, while a gifted quarterback, is not a leader.

You can watch the video below. Full disclosure, the video was recorded Saturday.

  1. Lord Cornelius Says:

Let all these jack4sses have whatever opinion they want. They all were wrong as f*ck about everything else with this team so time to change their predictions and save face by pivoting this away from how dumb their predictions were and into stories of QB debates.

    Just keep winning baby.

    GO BUCS!

  2. Horse Liver Says:

That jackweed already showed what he knows by predicting what he predicted. If Janeis can ignore the noise, realize that his teammates have covered his error in judgment, and accept the bench while Fitz has the hot hand, there is no QB controversy. There only is if the QBs believe there is.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

That question may be answered later this season. Jameis will be under extreme pressure to perform because of the high bar Fitz is setting…This is good for Bucs going forward…If he meets the test, he gets rewarded…if not, we go to plan B. (Whatever that might be)

  4. Not there yet Says:

Sometimes you don’t want some people talking about your team. The media really sucks, they want the storyline to be Winston vs Fitz. It’s more about the team than they want to give credit for as if Fitz is Tom Brady. It’s 2 games and I honestly think Winston will have the same success.

The cut Winston crowd is definitely entitled to their opinion no matter how stupid it is. No GM in their right mind would get rid of a guy like Winston for a 35 year old quarterback. Like it or not Winston will get that 20 mil, we aren’t getting a high enough pick to draft a quarterback any time soon.

You can’t pay Fitz 10 mil next year and Winston 20 so I guess we’ll see

  5. Rossta Says:

The NFL network is a bunch of idiots, Who are overrated pompous ass that think they know everything

  6. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    Hope Joe alows this..

I want to demonstrate the difference between Winston and Fitz…

You be the judge of who is who!!!

Thank You Joes!!! This is now ypur #FreeTheSecret Weapon

  7. Hawk Says:

Predictions are like buttholes. More often then not, they stink, and then the owner doesn’t want to talk about it.

  8. AlteredEgo Says:

Fzzzz it is not so much about the big plays he has made… it is about the plays he doesn’t make… if ya know what I mean Vern !

  9. BigMacAttack Says:

I think Fitz is in command. I think Jameis will 100% support that decision even though he wants on the field so bad. However I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jameis thrown in on certain situations to mix things up and try to confuse the opposing defenses.

  10. Rob Says:

Jameis will give the Bucs the best backup situation in the league.

  11. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

If I cant make my post can you at least run an article referencing the HISTORIC MOVIE!!!

Bucs fans deserve the PEP TALK!!!

  12. Max Says:

Best backup quarterback in the league = super bowl win BABY!!!

  13. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

Look up, Battel of the Rocks Braveheart.

Winton vs Fitz. Who’s who? You be the judge.

  14. Ryan Baker Says:

@Joe, I think you need to acknowledge that a 35 year old Journeyman with a supposedly weak arm has now made Jameis look nothing like
the “pro ready QB from FSU “. I think we really need to take a step
Back and evaluate #3’s mental capacity and his grasp of the offense.

  15. Leon Says:

Steve Smith won’t have a job with NFLN much longer, hesucks and no one even wants to listen him.

  16. Crayhopper Says:

Jameis has had three years to prove himself and fix his mechanics/accuracy. Absolutely no progress, plus maturity issues. How long did it take Peyton Manning, Tom Brady or John Elway to prove themselves? Have him back up Fitzpatrick this year, offer him a prove it deal for next year, and if he walks, draft a quarterback high next year. Only losers don’t cut their losses.

  17. webster Says:

The fact smith said the best thing about jameis is he can run lets me know these idiots knows nothing. The last thing jameis looks to do is run. And for the record, i dont ever remember joe saying jameis is not a leader. As a matter of fact, i have never heard a coach or a teammate all the way back to college say jameis is not a leader. I thought silly season only took place during the offseason. I guess not.

  18. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “Joe’s already written Jameis, while a gifted quarterback, is not a leader.” What we’ve seen in these last 2 games out of Fitz is also a ‘gifted quarterback’ (he’s found the open receivers and his throws have all been right on the money) who is ALSO a LEADER (a FIELD GENERAL as I prefer to call it). Jameis is too inexperienced & immature at this stage of his career to fill that role IMO, BUT … there’s only one way to become a leader & a field general, and that’s to be out there when the bullets are flying, make mistakes, and learn from those mistakes.

Fitz has made plenty of mistakes over the course of his career I’m sure, and he’s obviously learned from them. Jameis will have to travel a similar road IF he expects to be great. The BIG QUESTION in my mind is ‘Will the Bucs’ owners, management & coaches be willing to tolerate his ups & downs while he’s gaining that experience?’ Those ups & downs WILL involve some losing (we’ve already seen that) because Jameis rarely (if ever) plays mistake-free football. How much losing are they willing to tolerate before THEY pull the plug on Jameis? (After all, it’s not our decision nor is it Steve Smith’s nor Michael Robinson’s).

  19. Buc1987 Says:

  20. Nick Says:

Steve Smith, the worst analysts ever. Hey dummy, Jameis Winston don’t run the ball. Please go put in some work before you run your mouth. Lastly, if the Buc’s choose to play a 13 year vet over the future of the team, then either the coach, GM or both should be fired if the Buc’s don’t make the playoff’s.

  21. webster Says:

I see cray is the alternative facts kind of guy. Jameis completion % has gone up every year. Also, manning was throwing 24 ints in his 4th year. Farve made bone head plays and had high ints his whole career but sure give jameis 45 starts only. Oh and farve played with a top 5 defenses for at least the 1st 5 years of his years in green bay which covered up for his high ints. But i get it, truth isnt truth.

  22. JimmyJack Says:

I think it’s pretty cool that the fanbase isn’t at war over who our starting QB is. I think everybody kinda knows it’s Fitzs job right now unless he loses it. Except for a few random Winston lovers who wanna claim he’ll be out there in Chi…..And I’m a huge Winston fan but come-on.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Spurrier would simply rotate Quarterbacks.

  24. Buc1987 Says:

    Crayhopper Says:

“Jameis has had three years to prove himself and fix his mechanics/accuracy. Absolutely no progress”

I guess you missed the preseason games this year….

  25. Buc1987 Says:

    Absolutely!

    Absolutely no progress webster…..

  26. Buc1987 Says:

    lol TBBF

  27. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Some of these posters are journeymen…they no not any of what they speak about!🤯

  28. webster Says:

    @buc1987

I guess he missed the fact that jameis % has risen every year. I also guess he is the type to give the qb all the blame for losses and all the credit for wins. Its not like the oline is way better than it has ever been and the talent ie godwin, OJ etc is maturing. Its not like monken calls a better game which was evident in preseason. Naw….its all because fitz. Next time fitz throws a pass under duress this year will be the first time.

  29. SOEbuc Says:

Can’t they get a better analyst than idiot b!tch boy Steve Smith to talk?

This O-Line has looked awesome in the first two games! Something we haven’t had and have needed for a long time now. And I want to continue to develop it even more next year with an early round RT (D-1). Give Jameis time in the pocket and I guarantee he’s so much better at not turning the ball over and being able to throw deep passes.

Jameis looks like he’s finally making his turn to become the franchise QB we drafted him #1 to be (on the field at least). Glazer’s have invested too much time and money to let him go next year to a 35-year old. Unless Miko will help with Fitz contract.

  30. Buc4life Says:

I am a Winston and Bucs fan. It’s great that we are winning with Fitz, but he is a and our backup QB. I’m not saying Winston should start week 4, because he should not be in there until he and the team is ready. The last thing they need to do is put Winston in too early and divide or mess up our chemistry.

  31. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

FYI, This issue was resolved in the off season.

Regarless, your starter is your starter…

JW fails on Chicago you start Fitz in Atlanta…

This is best case scenario for EVERYONE!!!

    #StayThe CourseARRRRRRR

  32. DoMoBuC Says:

Everyone has shared some interesting points of view, but I think when we approach the question, we need to keep it simple. If the Bucs don’t completely crap out and Fitz starts playing like $hitzmagic, then you stay with the formula that works. If you bring in Jameis in either the 4th game or the fifth and he loses. The locker room will probably be lost. We always talk about how we don’t gift players a starting position. Jameis, through his own actions, benched himself this year. If Fitz loses his job, so be it, but you can’t gift it to Jameis, or you run the risk of imploding the team if he under performs.

  33. WillieG Says:

The Bucs would be 0-2 if JW was starting and Joe would be writing about the pathetic slow starts and misssed opportunities. JW always gets too hyped and that causes overthrows and that causes slow starts. Also, JW is good for at least one 7 point causing turnover every couple of games. 0-2 is what JW would bring to the table.

If I was in charge, I’d trade JW right now, sign Fitz to an extension and draft the best QB available next year.

  34. Godeep66 Says:

DJax was just interviewed on NFL Total Access. He stated that the Bucs should stick with the hot hand of Fitzpatrick

  35. Trench War Says:

    Buc4life

    or lose

  36. JimmyJack Says:

Pull yourselves together boys. Right now Fitz is playing at a all-pro level. You don’t sit all-pros on the bench.

  37. D the Bucs fan Says:

Its funny how Fitz has had an awesome historic two games. That we wouldn’t have won without those performances. So i guess Jameis had to play like a 13 year journeyman vet who plays lights out in contract years. For the first 3 years of his career to be accepted by some of you fans. Even tho he’s had an historic career already just needs some more team support.

  38. Dapostman Says:

In all fairness to Winston he was thrown to the wolves as a 21 year old QB without a QB mentor on the roster. The Bucs knew he was immature and drafted him with Mike Glennon as his backup. Another young guy who Winston replaced. How is Mike Glennon going to mentor Winston? Right now Fitzpatrick has been mentoring Winston and some of the clueless Buc fans don’t even know it. Winston has shown more maturity this trying camp and preseason. You won’t see anymore college ‘eat a W’ stuff that might rally 19 year olds. Grown men will follow a lead by example person. That will be the Winston you will see when he gets back. Right now Fitz has earned the right to play. Hope he keeps it going but I’m sure Winston will be back this season. I expect to see the same guy I saw in preseason.

    #Get After It!

  39. joestang Says:

Until Jameis can hit the deep pass he will always be questioned. He lacks touch, hope he can learn. Right now FITZ is a better leader, its not all about talent, there is a chemistry developing and Jameis is not a part of it.

  40. stpetebucsfan Says:

I’m of the belief there will be no season long QB controversy. Jameis IS the Bucs QB.

The big question is of course when those in charge decide to turn over the reins to JW. I think the Glazers, Licht, Koetter and even Monken will be part of the group decision.

But here is something tonight that gave me pause to think.

DJAX was interviewed this evening on NFLNet. One of the guys comes out dressed like Fitz in DJAX bling with fake chest hair. A good time was had by all.

But when they asked DJAX who would be the QB when JW returns he said of course that won’t be his decision but that Fitz has been playing really well and it’s very hard to bench a hot hand…and Fitz has been really hot.

There’s the first player I’ve heard who supports keeping Fitz in as long as he’s playing light out.

This suspension has certainly been a giant life lesson for JW. It could make or break him…I believe it will make him. Time will tell.

  41. Wesley Says:

It should be a week by week assessment imo.

  42. Buc68 Says:

People forget the last 4 games of last year and this preseason where Jameis was the best QB on the team and had the best passer rating in the NFL. I fully expect the Bucs to alienate Winston in this process and he will leave this team. I expect to watch him win a Super Bowl elsewhere. Fitzmagic is not going to win the Bucs a Super Bowl this season and we will suck…. again for 15 years. Why, because that’s what the Bucs do. We have a good track record of it.

  43. Cobraboy Says:

Get used to Winston in 2019, because the Bucs picked up his 5th-year option. Unless traded, he’s not going anywhere.

  44. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    68….

We can hope still though, right???

  45. ronteco Says:

ex-panther….who gives a spit what he has to say.

  46. SOEbuc Says:

    @WillieG

“If I was in charge, I’d trade JW right now, sign Fitz to an extension and draft the best QB available next year.”

Guess that’s why you’re not an NFL owner or GM. JW is a FA next year so we would likely get nothing for him this season. We would just be letting go a pro bowl back up. Fitz is 35 and has finally shown up after 14 YEARS. Drafting the next best QB would mean we had a terrible year prior and are very hard to determine if they’re going to be all-pro right outta the gate. Glazer’s have invested too much time and money into Jameis to let the 24 year old that looks to maybe be taking the turn to becoming the franchise QB they used their #1 pick on.

  47. Mike Johnson Says:

Agreed. Calm down. jameis ain’t goin nowheres. Bucs will pick up his option and..Sitting out at this time in his career Might just be the best thing ever happenned to him. He’s getting a chance to see what it takes to get this team to the next level. When he gets his shot again, he will be better. Fitz is not the future. But lets ride his experience like hell for the time being. Cause when you Hot..You HOT!!!

  48. Waterboy Says:

Winston will eventually get another opportunity this season but the problem for him is if they start to struggle on offense he may be out in Tampa. Fitz is definitely not the future of the Bucs but he may have opened the door for the owners to start thinking that Winston is not the future either. Not a good situation that Winston put himself in.

  49. rrsrq Says:

I other news, shouldn’t Mike Tomlin suspend AB for one game for conduct detrimental to the team, ijs, it wouldn’t hurt

  50. mark2001 Says:

SOE Bucs…you miss one major factor. A poised QB makes the O line better. He doesn’t hold the ball too long, reads well, and when there is a blitz, knows where the open man will be.

  51. Bucnut2 Says:

You have to be blind to NOT see the difference in the offense with Fitz. He throws on time, is accurate and does not stare down recovers. He is BETTER than Winston on ALL of those things. In addition, he doesn’t turn the ball over and wins. YOU have to be a mindless fan to think that AT THIS POINT, what Fitz is doing now is FAR superior to ANYTHING Winston has done in a Bucs uniform. Winston has never played this well. And by the way, for those pointing to Winton’s preseason, Fitz had a better QB rating.

  52. Ed Says:

What the Hell, give love to the Offense line, lets see what Winston can do with this line. For good-sake the man is 35 yoa. Defense Coordinators will catch up with him by the third game, they have film on him now.

  53. Trench War Says:

    Buc68

“People forget the last 4 games of last year and this preseason where Jameis was the best QB on the team”
    ———————————-
Yes, at the end of the season when most teams are jockeying for draft picks or resting players for a playoff run. I’m sorry but that was not a convincing argument in my opinion. Plus, had Fitz continued to play after Jameis came back we might have won more of those games Jameis lost. So how do you know that Fitz couldn’t have done better? Anyway, unless Jameis really blows it he’ll get his team back and I will root for him too but also be just as critical of him now that I’ve seen the potential of this team under excellent QB play.

  54. Bird Says:

I love the debate about how good Jameis looked in preseason.

Who gives a damn about preseason. There is no pressure in preseason to win or lose. They said this 3 game start to season is the hardest schedule in the super bowl era.

I’ll take it a step further, Fitz looks all world out there. Setting nfl records. Throwing 75 yard bombs on the 1st play of the game. He can’t keep this up. No one can. But it is sure fun to watch.

You Jameis messiah followers /Nole fans would rather see fitzpatrick fail and bucs therefore lose so Jameis comes back as starter. You guys are a joke.

  55. martinii Says:

Above my pay grade, just win baby. Not to change the subject but I am watching Monday night football. Guess who is starting on Seattle O-line? Our old buddy J R Sleezy? Dude not playing like he has a bad back or leg. That guy should go to prison for what he pulled onBuc’s.

  56. Ryan McGregor Says:

DeSean Jackson was just on NFL network saying Fitzpatrick should remain the Bucs QB and Winston should be benched…… HE ISNT WRONG!!

  57. Fartman Says:

    Cobraboy Says:

Get used to Winston in 2019, because the Bucs picked up his 5th-year option. Unless traded, he’s not going anywhere.

    __________________________________________
    Perfect!
Hopefully that is when he sees the field again.

  58. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    @rrsrq

Absolutely!!!! Give him the T.O./J. Gordon trwatment…

And the Bucs can sign him when DJax is gone next year!!!

    Sound like a plan Joes????

  59. Buc1987 Says:

Bird …accuracy is accuracy…pre-season or not …..and he DID look more accurate than ever before. Like webster pointed out his comp % has statistically gone up every single season…no reason to think…preseason was meaningless.

  60. Ryan McGregor Says:

I say we keep rollin’ with McGregor until he loses the hot streak. That will give Winston multiple weeks to shake the rust off and learn his lesson (his crappy lifestyle is the reason his position got taken from him in the first place). Worst thing you can do is give a spoiled brat the keys to his Ferrari back as soon as he gets out of jail.

  61. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    @Bird
No we dont want to see Fits fail

    WE WANT TO SEE #WeaponforWinston

Imagine twice the fun with a franchise QB for anlther decade!!!

  62. Buc1987 Says:

Bird…I’d ride with Fitz until the wheels come off. You just look like you’re in denial as to what we’ve all seen from Jameis. It is what it is.

I’m a Noles fan. A HUGE one. Much BIGGER Buc fan of course….ride with Fitz….who’s hoping he fails? Where did you see ANY of us saying that?

  63. Buc1987 Says:

I hope Fitz takes us to the playoffs……I really DO!

  64. Proudbucsfan Says:

Hey Joes, BSPN is reporting that, douche bag Minka FitzpatrickPatrick is copyrighting Fitzmagic.

  65. BucNAE Says:

First if Steve Smith is a low budget analyst. Second I hope Fitz keeps the job and jameis gets traded it picked up by the Jaguars with his National Championship teammates so he can bring them their first SB. I love Tampa but the fan base is definitely with him. It’s the rule though… We always run out QBs off so they can win SBs somewhere else. Jameis 2021 super bowl MVP and champion somewhere.

  66. Buc68 Says:

I’m not saying Fitz shouldn’t play a few more games. Fitz is on fire and Winston put himself in this situation. I’m saying Bucs need to be careful with how they handle this situation. Winston is 24, he has improved each and every year in the league. He clearly improved this preseason again and was clearly our best QB. The way the offensive line is playing with these weapons there are a lot of QBs that would put up big numbers. The way Winston closed last season and opened this season, we as fans could potentially enjoy great Qb play for the next 15 years. This get rid of him nonsense is hilarious.

  67. BUC IT Says:

you can’t just give up on jameis yet because he is 24 and much much more serviceable then most other options we could get in the nfl without going back to the draft. let these idiots think what they want and we will let fitz start until he screws up.

  68. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    Who is Steve Smith BTW????!!!!!?????!!!!!

OHHHHHH, Thats right…. Go figure…. STFU Dude!!!

  69. Fartman Says:

@BUC IT – I wouldn’t give up on Winston. He’s going to make a great back up to Fitz

  70. Bird Says:

Dude. Classic Noles homer No sh:t you are a noles fan 87.

I’m curious …what have we seen from Winston ? You act like he wins games by himself.

Has a good game and then 2 crappers. What am I missing? Been a roller coaster these last few years He’s good at times -absolutely.

You same noles fans point the finger at everyone but Jameis in years past. No run game No oline. Crappy defenses. Don’t think that has changed to much. Am I a hater – he’ll no He is a buc so I support him. It’s just funny You act like he is Aaron Rodgers or something You guys keep your blinders on. It’s all good.

  71. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

BTW, we didnt go for over 600 yards the last 2 weeks….

Stop drinking the Fitsmagic juice…. He is the Queen in this chess game… NOT THE KING…

    SMH

  72. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    @Bird

If we act like JW is Rogers you act like Fits is Warrner!!!

    Who wins in this fight???

Good problem or bad is the real question here!!!!

  73. Buc1987 Says:

Bird…you actually think you have to be a Noles fan to see how great the kid is going to be. He came to a pretty crappy team if I remember right. That’s why he was drafted #1 overall. Perhaps everyone that made that decision were Noles fans too?

Had a campaign called “Weapons for Winston” for a reason….it wasn’t Noles fans that decided that shyte….someone sees something great in the kid to go to great lengths to see him flourish.

Fitz is now enjoying was they went out and got for Jameis…. once again no it wasn’t Noles fans that did any of that.

The question should be ……how come YOU don’t see it?

  74. Buc1987 Says:

    what*

  75. Bucsace Says:

The priority here is what’s best for the Bucs…..not what’s best for Jameis Winston! Seems like a lot of people on this site have misplaced their priorities. Besides, if Fitzpatrick’s past history shows us anything, he’s far from infallible. I’m not a Jameis fan, but when he does get his chance…..I’d love for him to prove me wrong! GO BUCS!

  76. gotbbucs Says:

Alot depends on how they feel about Griffin’s development. Fitzgerald is proof of what can be done if you play inside the offensive game plan.

Winston openly admits to ignoring his reads and going wherever he wants with the ball.

Fitzpatrick has the locker room right now. You do not mess with that.

If they believe that Fitzpatrick has a couple more good years in him then this offseason becomes interesting.

  77. Buc1987 Says:

Then again… here’s another question for you.

I already asked it….where do you see any of us Noles fans hoping Fitz fails?

    Preposterous!!

  78. JimmyJack Says:

Besides if you think Fitz or Winston should be under center can we all just agree that the true loons in our fanbase are the ones putting trade and Winston in the same sentence?

  79. JimmyJack Says:

But a close runner up to those loons are the ones who said Griffin should have been our starter

  80. JabooBuc Says:

So I am a self described unashamed (maybe some shame this year) FSU homer and I came out after this Uber thing saying that Jameis needed to go. I have been on record defending Jameis over the past 3 years after defending him extensively while at FSU. However, this last incident is exactly why you stick with Fitz and why you start looking for another future QB. The simple fact is he can’t be trusted.

I still believe JW is a big talent and does not get the credit he deserves on the field. Fact is he was lighting up the NFL during the last month of last season and looked great this preseason. No reason to believe he would not be doing the same things Fitz is doing now if he was playing. But again he is sitting out because of his poor judgment and this continues to hang over his head due to HIS choices. If he is implicated again in another sexual infraction then he can be expelled from the league. Does anyone feel great about JW never dealing with this again?

I don’t which is why I’m so happy to see Fitz do what he’s doing. The Bucs now have options on top of a winning team.

  81. Oneilbucs Says:

You people are crazy lol lol . Go head trade Winston let fizpatrick be your starter just like the jets did and look what happen the next year. Winston will go win somewhere else and we will be stuck fizpatrick or some draft pick that can’t play . Fizpatrick have done this before then his true colors will come out . Y’all just don’t know football ask the jets.

  82. BrianBucs Says:

These gentlemen are both correct. Winston’s new best friend should be the clipboard until the end of the season when the Bucs will have to decide what to do with him.

  83. Buc1987 Says:

“Does anyone feel great about JW never dealing with this again?”

I feel great enough to keep em seeing how it was 3 years ago.

What’s happened off the field since those 3 years?

Pretty sure he’s staying anyways as they will pick up his fifth year option…nothing you or I can say or do about that. So most of debate as to whether he stays or goes is ridiculous to me.

  84. BrianBucs Says:

And giving credit to Fitz, it’s nice for a change to see a Bucs QB bringing some badly needed good and positive attention to the team and organization instead of the shame and embarrassment brought here by America’s Crotchgrabber And Liar

  85. webster Says:

You see trenchwar is one of those alternative facts type of dudes. Someone brings up winston’s last five games and how good he looked ie 72% and the first thing trenchwar comes back with is it was because teams were playing for draft position. This is what i mean by tampa having the dumbest fans. In the last 5 weeks, the bucs ooplayed against green bay who were bring back rodgers because they were still alive in the playoff hunt, carolina, atlanta and the saints who were fighting for the division title. Yet the bird brain known as trenchwar said teams were jokeying for draft selections. You cant make this $#!+ up. Stop getting mad at me for calling out tampa’s uneducated fans. Unbelievable

  86. JabooBuc Says:

Buc1987- it took us 2 years to find out about the last incident. Do you know for a fact that nothings happened since? Fact is he’s an easy target now.

Look, I wanted things to workout for this kid and maybe it will. But he’s got a track record a mile long for being an idiot and he’s supposed to be a pro now. That means other people’s paychecks depend on him and I can’t believe Jason and Dirk have a lot of faith in him going forward and now they’re probably thanking their lucky stars they may not have too.

  87. JimmyJack Says:

Jaboo. I hear ya but I think you have let your college aliegence jade you.

Maybe it was never your place to ever have to defend Jamies. He is the QB for all of our team….haters and defenders. Winston’s actions on and off the field should speak for themselves.

Now he got himself into a bit of trouble but we can forget the college stuff(as Buc fans) cause never affected our team.

At the end of the day what he did was not unforgivable and the NFL will always give second chances to talented players. The plan entering this year very much included Winston as part of the future. That hasn’t changed, only Winston can change that with poor play or decisions. He is just gonna have to take a backseat to his replacement who is playing amazing football.

Over the years the waters have just gotten very muddy for Winston having haters coming in and playing crappy football to boot. But he is still our franchise QB….it’s his job to lose and when he gets back it he’ll either win or lose it.

    GOO BUCS!!!!!!

  88. JabooBuc Says:

JimmyJack- don’t think for a minute that the college stuff doesn’t matter. You don’t think that played a part in him getting 3 games for this incident? I mean there was much there that justifies that amount of time for a first time offender.

Fact is this was a CYA ruling by the NFL in dealing with a guy with a bad track record. Plus, maybe I was a little too close to it but that track record was for real. Lot of dumb things that were reported and some others that were not.

  89. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Look Winston is the future for this team. We cannot rely on someone who is at the end of their career. That being said we will go with what is working and I think Jameis would totally support it because he is a team player. As a Bucs fan we just want to win and also win for a long time so I see both sides of the coin currently. I just hope that the Bucs don’t make a rash move and try to trade Jameis because I can tell you their will be a lot of other teams trying to pry him away from us. And that would be like trading away our future. I also believe Jameis can be just as successful with this team as Fitz has been. Go Bucs!

  90. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Fuk’ the Bullsh!t – and Keep riding this wave.

Until Fitz proves otherwise – he’s the QB of the 2018 Bucs.

  91. Buc1987 Says:

    Exactly LUV!

  92. JimmyJack Says:

Jaboo. Yes your right the college stuff does matter. But what I said was that it never affected the team(at least directly).

I do realize there are different reasons for those who hate or defend Winston but college allegiance has been a big reason for such a vast divide over our QB.

I think your mindset(and many others) is a Lott different then someone like me that doesn’t follow much college at all. Emotions run high in sports, I get it.

  93. Trench War Says:

webster, you little punk. Weren’t you the jack@ss that every one hated in the comment sections. Just like a liar you said last 5 games, but it was the last 4 games talked about. It seems you need to fabricate a lie to try to boost your BS to make yourself credible I guess. Yes, let’s go back and visit those last 4 games, shall we?.

Week 14 the 1st of the last 4 games we lost to the Lions 24 – 21 and it wouldn’t have been that close if the Lions hadn’t thought they had it in the bag and started rotating a lot of their players with backups which allowed the Bucs to score 14 points in the last quarter.

Week 15 practically the same thing Atlanta 9 – 5 won 24 – 21, rested players in the 4th and the Bucs scored late to make it close.

Week 16 Panthers in playoffs with 11 – 5 record and we still lost 22 – 19 after the Bucs again made it closer at the end.

Then there was week 17 where the Saints also clinched a spot but The Bucs had to score 18 points in the last quarter to win. ..and actually won the one game we should’ve lost to win the draft lottery.

  94. Rod Munch Says:

Shocking, people stirring the pot to to fill air time. Never seen that.

Who do we play next, Peyton Manning or Brock Osweiler?

Now discuss it for the next 6 weeks straight.

  95. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Smith says the best thing about Winston is that he can run? He obviously has never watched Jameis Winston play. His opinion immediately means nothing after that statement. That’s like saying that Shaquille O’Niels’ best attribute was his 3 point shooting.

  96. JimmyJack Says:

Eric if a white dude said that all Winston can do is run he’d be 🔥 for racism.

  97. adam from ny Says:

jaboo is not cerebral guy…he’s like a rah-rah hot headed type leader of sorts…that doesn’t really cut it in the nfl…he needs to take stock and check himself and become an understudy from the couch, and later from the sidelines, as the beard should be his blueprint…and when his time comes just get back in there and be like fitzie, just better

  98. webster Says:

    Trench

You are an idiot. And i can give a d@mn who hates me in the comments section. The falcons did not rest anyone when they still could win the division. Who rests olayers when they are fighting for the division. You think a team rest guys when they barely win by 3? They did not rest anyone in week 15. Thats why you are a dumb fan. Oh and the lions was still fighting for a olayoff spot. Yes sir you are an idiot. You think i care who hates me. My name is not the guy in charge of the country. The lions, green bay, falcons, saints and carolina all had something to play for you moron idiot tampa fan

  99. James Walker Says:

    These guys are clueless.

  100. webster Says:

    Trench

You are why tampa fans are moked. Our division rivals had no lee way to rest their players. They were in a division race and berths. Two teams finished 11-5 and one finished 1O-6. Thats why you are a idiot tampa fan. Even when facts are laid in front of you, you choose to ignore them. I get it….truth isnt truth

  101. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    Adam

So your say JW should be like Fits??? And in year 14.he will be ready???

Fools the lot.of you… Lets grow up with the dude like we did #99 and #20 and……………….

  102. Trench War Says:

Ok I’ll give you Lions were still mathematically in it but they rested Ziggy Ansah after his sack fumble on Jameis in the 4th. They rotated in 2 backup cb’s in the 4th qt. Winston had 2 picks and a fumble. With the receivers they have Mike Evans had only 2 catches 25 yards. DJax 4 catches for 41 yards. Poor performance period.

“You think a team rest guys when they barely win by 3?” The Lions were up by 17 and the Bucs scored 14 at the end. It wasn’t close until the Lions let up.

You are the moron if you’re celebrating losses.

  103. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    #TotalltConfedentInDirk!!!

  104. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    Totally Confident In Dirk !!!

  105. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

    Steve Smith of the Panters???

Frack that guy… He is just jealous he never had a QB as good as JW or Fits!!!!

  106. adam from ny Says:

    free the secret weapon:

yes, more cerebral and less hot headed…a live wire of a qb can not last in the nfl…more even keeled…more deadpan…like a fitzie…yes…there is a lot he can learn as an understudy this year…

and learn to throw the long ball…

and get his on field iq up…

    #JameisBeMoreLikeFitzie

  107. adam from ny Says:

jaboo should even talk to donovan smith and get coached up on how to grow a big beard like fitzie

  108. webster Says:

Celebrating losses? You are the idiot fan who blames the qb for all the losses. Nevermind the defense sucked or the oline sucked. Lets blame the qb. Fitz has won all the games eventhough the oline has been outstanding acording to trench. This dumb fan has not acknowledged the oline has sucked for the last whatever years. And he wont acknowledged the bucs oline has been tremendous but has nothing to do with the wins thus far i guess. He was the same poster saying that koetter should move on from long developing plays. Now he cant see the oline is better and those long plays can work because the online is executing but sure, blame jameis when he was running for his life. And when jameis was effective, it was because teams were jockeying for draft selections. Bvbwwwhhaaa

  109. Trench War Says:

You are the idiot fan who blames the qb for all the losses.

now you’re just making crap up.

  110. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

After watching the Bears playing the Seahawks, Jameis may be starting week 6, because Khalil Mack is going to break Fitzpatrick into a bunch of little pieces in Week 4… that is one nasty defense. I really fear for the bearded one in that game, if (more likely when) he starts in week 4.

    #ProtectThePasser
    #RunTheBall?

  111. Shane Says:

I can tell these analysts don’t watch the Bucs. It’s really lazy reporting. They have no idea what the strengths and weaknesses are of these QB’s in Tampa or the acquisitions this offense has made in the off-season.

  112. Rod Munch Says:

You mean the media might be fake news? That they have no actual knowledge of anything but need to fill cable time so they blabber endlessly just making up stuff? Again, truly shocking information.

  113. Eezy Says:

All you Fitz dummies out there. You need to listen to Fitz he tells you himself it’s the skills players that has gotten better. OJ and Godwin has gotten a lot better after a year of experience. Then you make adjustments to your offensive of line and play calling. If anyone think Jamesis shouldn’t be here are crazy. I wish the kid leaves and you dummies will see this franchise set back another 10 years.

  114. orlbucfan Says:

    The Fitzster is 35.
    Fameis Jameis is 24.
    Ryan Griffin is 23-24?
NFL Football is a young man’s game.
    I rest my case.

  115. BucNole Says:

OMG this place needs an “idiot” button
Some of the comments are just laughable and prove those who post such nonsense have not understanding of the game.
Some of these posters make me squint when I read their pathetic comments.
I like most of what I read on this sight just to get different perspectives.
But some of you guys are out in left field. geez

  116. Tampabucfan88 Says:

I really believe 1/2 of the people in here are not even Bucs fans the fans of other teams trying to start a riot

  117. Ride the A Train Says:

The Bucs are a better team right now with Fitz under center!
I was never sold on Jamis and all of his growing pains and immaturity stuff.
Fitz is a seasoned Vet. The Bucs are primed to do some special things but really – we need a running game!
No one right now can hang with the weapons we have in the receiving corps and that will prolong the win streak – but you don’t want to have to rely only on the pass. Barber is OK – but he is no AP or top tier RB. “Rojo is a NOGO” and a major disappointment. The Buc’s went into the draft needing a #1 runningback and we came out of the draft still needing a #1 runningback.
the time to comb thru the waiver wire, maybe recently retired list, maybe trade list is upon us. This team is still missing a few cogs – but with the right peeps – we can make some NOISE!

  118. Godeep66 Says:

@eezy: has JW gotten any smarter? No!!!! We would be 0-2 if that clown would have started.

  119. Ryan T. Says:

I’m not saying Fitz is a long-term option at QB. I WILL, however, say that whenever Winston is playing I find myself yelling at the TV screen “DON’T DO ANYTHING STUPID! DON’T DO ANYTHING STUPID!”

I don’t do that when Fitzmagic is playing because he DOESN’T DO ANYTHING STUPID! Jameis may have a higher ceiling, but he makes too many moronic decisions. Its case of “one step forward and three steps backwards” far too often with him under center.

I would love to see Jameis warm the bench for a while until he understands that.

  120. celly Says:

I’ll say again, all these talking heads think Jameis sucks, but they are the same talking heads that thought we’d be 0-3 without Jameis…..
