Big Game For Bucs LBs

September 30th, 2018

Key to victory?

New Bears coach Matt Nagy doesn’t yet trust second-year Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky. That seems to be what Andy Benoit is typing.

In a short breakdown on today’s game along the Lake Michigan shore, Benoit, of the MMQB.com, doesn’t believe Nagy willing to turn Trubisky loose, so he’ll throw many short passes. This, Benoit believes, is where the Bucs linebackers come into play.

It’s evident in his play-calling that Bears head coach Matt Nagy feels QB Mitchell Trubisky must be brought along slowly. Trubisky seems to be most comfortable with misdirection concepts that work underneath. It’ll be interesting to see how those play out against aggressive downhill linebackers like Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander.

Joe sure hopes Trubisky throws underneath and tests David.

Joe will take that matchup all day long.

I’d still like to see our LBs blitzing more.

I’m not sure I have any faith in Mike Smith to come up with creative solutions to bother another team’s offense.

Hoping this defense is going to suddenly settle into the scheme each week is like hoping Trump doesn’t do anything stupid. I want to see adjustments.

    Go Bucs!!!!
    Game day!!!!
    3-1

  3. Trench War Says:

Our pass rush is our saving grace if they can get there often in down and distances, plus make sure everybody gets their hands up in front of Trubisky. Trubisky can, and probably will pull it down and run, so having David or Alexander spy/guard against him scrambling would be smart. We need to counter their pass rush with short slants, a few screens, and a newfound running game. We can do this! Go Bucs!

P.S. Try running from a spread formation, give Barber space.

  4. Chris in WA Says:

The Bears would be fools to not air it out. Doesn’t matter how green the QB is.

What happens when they disguise the flood misdirection with vertical concepts ?

    Go Bucs!!!

  7. Defense Rules Says:

Crummy field conditions (rain prior?) would definitely favor the Bears because they have a very good rushing attack with Howard & Cohen (near the best in the NFL). And especially since they’ve owned the clock (average 35 minutes TOP in 3 games) AND because our interior DLine is decimated right now (same for our Secondary).

Nevertheless, the Bucs have a chance. IF we win, it’ll be because the OLine plays a LOT better today than they did last week. IF they can improve their run-blocking AND protect Fitz better, he can control the clock & chew up the Bears with short pass plays as well as explosive plays. Not confident at this point that this Bucs team can go toe-to-toe with the Bears and play 60 minutes of smash-mouth football. BUT … stranger things have happened. Turnovers & TOP will make all the difference.

    Ryan,

You’ll exactly see alot of that with playactions plays all day long…..

Coach Nagy knows the bucs secondary absolutely sucks and and also his QB is mobile too

Mike Smith better have a game plan cause if he does the same old crap again….. He should be fired cause Tampa and the whole Bucs nation is absolutely sick of his crap

  9. D-Rome Says:

Mitch Trubisky is trash. Worse than Mike Glennon.

  10. BucEmUp Says:

Are you kidding me? What better opportunity exists for nagy to turn his qb loose for the first time and build some confidence than against the loosest covering secondary in all of football? I don’t doubt we will see short underneath routes throughout the day, but Mitch is going to look like a pro bowler like every qb does against us.

But I’m going to optimistic and believe that this is the day that Mike Smith finally acts like a DC and adapts, disguises, and calls an aggressive game for once

  11. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Yeah

I think everyone in the NFL knows how crappy the Bucs secondary and they will deploy the long ball plays in their game planning

It’s just fat out pathetic that we see that defensive crap from Mike Smith every single Sunday

I like mike Smith……but if this is another bad defensive day for the secondary again? then Mike Smith…….you need to go

Does Smitty have a corner blitz in his playbook? Pretty sure NOBODY is expecting that…
