JPP’s Influence

August 16th, 2018

Passion.

Of course, into the second day of the Bucs’ two-day joint practices with the Titans in Nashville, Bucs defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is still the talk of fans the way he worked Tennessee tackle Taylor Lewan in one-on-one drills yesterday.

And it seems JPP’s motor and passion for the game is beginning to rub off on his new Bucs teammates.

Yesterday, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, told Joe he believes JPP takes a lot of pride into wearing the Bucs’ pewter and red.

“Especially him being in Tampa where he grew up is really important to him,” Jameis said when Joe asked about JPP’s influence. “You can tell that he really loves football and being a great veteran guy, we look up to guys like that and we love his tenacity and enthusiasm.”

Joe has to assume here that Jameis is speaking of JPP’s football growth, not as a person. JPP was born and raised in Deerfield Beach in Broward County. Still lives there. Of course, JPP grew up as a football adult in Tampa when he played for South Florida.

Since Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht acquired JPP for a third-round pick this offseason, JPP has mentioned several times how he is looking forward to playing in the same crib where he played his college ball, the Den of Depression.

If JPP is as motivated and passionate as he appears to be, and as Jameis perceives him to be, maybe he can finally help the Bucs rid that stadium of its sad but accurate nickname.

Bring it JPP! Trash-talking a resident trash-talker while taking their lunch money? Priceless!
    That’s what this team needs.

Went and looked at the Titans writers notes out of curiosity and they even said JPP is beasting and is underrated in general as a player/addition. Also said Mike Evans is a beast.

Sounds like Mariota’s been having success in drills against us; and that both offenses in general are dominating eachother’s defenses

The last time we picked up an elite DE from the NFC east he added a spark that lead us to winning the Super Bowl. His name was Simeon Rice from the formerly NFC east, Arizona Cardinals.
After 5 years in the league:

    JPP
    Sacks-41
    Int-2
    FF-8
    Solo Tackles-212

    Simeon R
    Sacks-51
    Int-1
    FF-10
    Solo Tackles-174

It’s almost as if the trade has put a big ol chip on JPPs shoulder. He seemed shocked and a bit disappointed at first but all reports show he’s embracing the change and he may be poised for a huge year, which is EXACTLY what this team needs. So glad he’s a Buc!

  5. The Buc Realist Says:

Glad to hear he is practicing hard with the 1 on 1 drills!!!!!!! But we all know that it is a whole different ball game when the regular season starts and teams are scheming for him!!!!! Hopefully we will see the hard work, andproduction all year long!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!

Im praying JPP and GMC can go thru this season injury free; blocking either one of these 2 1 on 1 should keep opposing olinemen up at night…

Hey Joe…remind us again of the requirement to lose the “den of depression” moniker.

Win five home games in a season.

true….but the sad part is smitty wont adjust or move him around….he’ll let JPP stay on 1side and get doubled all year long….then he’ll say he didn’t have the “jimmy’s and joe’s” to run his system…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

This d-line will definitely be a force to be reckon with this season. This reminds me of the Jaguars d-line. In years past the Jaguars invested heavily in their front four, but when they added Callaise Campbell their front seven became elite.

Keep JW away from JPP. The dude is already missing fingers and you surely don’t want JW nibbling off a few more on the way to “eating a win”.
