Fast Start For O.J.

August 2nd, 2018

Strong camp so far.

One of the biggest problems the Bucs had last year was a lack of fast starts.

Well, this training camp, in the middle of its second week, one player appears head and shoulders better than he was last year at this point. And that is tight end O.J. Howard.

Dirk Koetter was asked about Howard yesterday and he heaped praise on the second-year player from Alabama.

“He was fantastic,” Koetter said of Howard in Wednesday practice. “I don’t know if you were watching close, [but] he had about five out-of-sight plays today. I think O.J is far, far ahead of where he was at any point last year. Really off to a fast start. Looks really good.”

Think about that: “at any point last year.” That is some high praise. In Joe’s eyes, in the latter part of the season before Howard got hurt, he was making plays as good as just about any tight end in the NFL.

If Howard is that much better than last year, hopefully he can help Ryan Fitzpatrick steal a win in the first three games in order to survive until America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, gets back.

(If you missed Howard getting very physical with DE Vinny Curry, watch it here.)

We are building a team. The sheep need to take their “shades” off that Gruden gave them and be patient. Glad Licht got another year, now give the Coach another year and sit back and chill. Nothing big is happening this year, if it does, great!!
By the way Joe, where is Bobo???? Lost in all the camp meat or just not producing on the practice field? Surely he is getting a lot of passes his way from Jameis and the second or thirds?
Oh, and OJ is a stud!!!

  2. Bird Says:

    The next Gronk!

Although OJ seems to have a brain

  3. Pickgrin Says:

But… But we needed a DE and coulda had Taco Charlton instead….
    Right Joe?

OJ Howard……..and all the whining over the pick…..will be one of the best Bucs ever….

  5. Robert Says:

Brady made Gronk. Howard might have skills, but until we get a Brady he’ll never be great.

looking for a real break out year for OJ, he is talented and is such a mismatch, hope he is used correctly.

O.J. is going to Make his fair share of pro bowls

    Everybody remember week 4.
    Mark it down.
Set a reminder or alarm or something.

We will no longer have to listen, read, laugh and then respond to Robert’s idiotic statements.

  12. Go Buc Says:

Joe-I don’t understand why you think we can only steal a win with Fitz vs “America’s QB”. With everything considered, there is not much of a difference.

Everyone keeps saying how tough these three games are. Last year we almost beat the Bellicheats and I think we can beat the Steelers. The eagles will be a good test.

Bucs are going 2-1 their first 3 games. I’m saying it now and will own up to it all throughout the season.

    GO BUCS!

Keep it up O.J. This guy sounds like a very hard worker. Has to be biggest thing needed to reach greatness.

Keep grinding O.J. And Ill also keep grinding, sweating my balls off, working for peanuts and then spend half my paycheck to come see ya play.
