Bucs Make BSPN List

August 28th, 2018

How high?

NFL Network has theirs, and now so does BSPN.

No, BSPN did not steal Kay Adams from NFL Network. But Joe wishes they would take Michael Fabiano — please!

For years, the NFL Network has had a top-100 players list, a pretty much worthless feature that fills hours of programming after the draft. It is still not perfectly clear the list is created.

The network claims players’ votes determine the rankings but Joe was told by someone within the NFL that only a handful of players vote per team. Joe has even heard voters are handed a list of players to vote on. If the player wanted to rank someone not on the list — tough toenails.

So BSPN came out with their 100 list this week. In an effort to be different, they claimed it was a prediction for the 2018 season, whereas NFL Network’s list is always a look back at a season just completed. You can decide for yourself if the list is bogus or not. But there are some Bucs on it.

Stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was the highest-ranked Bucs player at No. 47. Mike Evans isn’t far behind at No. 50. Lavonte David appears at No. 71.

For reasons unknown, Brent Grimes didn’t make the list.

For a last-place team to have three players in the top-100, that just goes to show the Bucs terribly underperformed last season.

Thjree is less than 6 percent of fifty three. Especicially when Swaggy Baker and T. J. Ward were part of the remaining 50.More talent was needed last year especially on the defensive side of the ball.

I don’t know if this reflects on 53 man talent or under performance. Actually to me it shows the Bucs have some talent…about as much as a number of teams, expecting 32 teams to have about three each if it was equally distributed, but not as good as the top teams that have two or three players each with higher rankings, and better than some teams with almost none in the top hundred or most with lower rankings. And it doesn’t say anything about how good the other 50 on the 53 man roster are. If anything, it would indicate the other 50 players on our roster aren’t as good as the 50 on teams with better records, as they played better overall than ours.

In fact, if this was truly represent of talent and performance, I would expect the median achieving team to have a player at about 15, one about 50, and one at about 75, better teams with higher ranked players, poorer teams with lower ranked players. And as ours were, I would expect us to perform below average on the ranking basis, as we don’t have a higher ranked player in the top 32. It would seem we would be about 6-10, give or take a game. But that assumes the other 50 players are equal to other teams 50, and I’m not sure we are.

Brent didn’t make this list, what a surprise, he is use to it and doesn’t even know about this because he has no social media.

  5. Godeep66 Says:

The NFL list is much more accurate. And it is voted on by players not reporters producers with their own agenda.
***Brent Grimes did not make the list because he is washed up and cannot stay on the field with health issues. I am sure ESPN is forecasting that he will only play about 6-8 games this year.

  6. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Deborah Hall,

I don’t know if you are being sarcastic, but if not, you do realize who he’s married to right? I promise you with everything I own that Brent knows lol.

And……….the senseless, vitriolic diatribe of Godeep continues! Tomorrow’s forecast? More of the same, with an 80% chance of kicking a cat in the afternoon followed by making babies cry in the evening!

  8. Bob in Valrico Says:

I would say that while we were loaded at WR and TE, we were very deficient in Dline, Safety, corner talent, coupled with LB’s who were not always on the field
at the same time. Starting corners also missed time.

  9. Godeep66 Says:

@bucsfan: you should move to Montana, they had their first snowfall yesterday and we all know you are a snowflake ❄️

  10. Godeep66 Says:

Snowflake redefined: Began being used extensively as a putdown for someone, usually on the political left, who is easily offended or felt they needed a “safe space” away from the harsh realities of the world.

Moron redefined: Please see GoDerp66, who has officially surpassed kobe liar as the biggest idiot in the comments section of JBF.

Congrats GoDerp, you should be proud little fella.

  12. Bucsfanman Says:

Godeep’s playbook is just to label EVERYONE a snowflake. How rich! Try some thoughts of your own from time to time genius.
unbelievable is absolutely, 100% correct! You have actually managed to overtake every single poster on JBF as the most moronic ever!
What little credibility you might have had is discredited every time you open your trap.
Now, go to the dictionary and look up all the 2+ syllable words so you can get caught up! We are waiting with baited breath for your next idiotic post! Probably something to do with a certain QB I’m guessing……YAWN!

Joe, there are 32 teams, on average each team should have 3 in the top 100. If we had 6 in the the top 100 I’d say we underperformed.
