“The Suspension Kills The Bucs”

July 27th, 2018

BSPN: Doomed season.

The 2018 season is over.

The Bucs haven’t even gotten through the initial stages of underwear football in training camp and it is time to throw in the towel and start working for that top-10 pick in next spring’s draft.

That’s the word from John Ireland of BSPN. In what appears to be an appearance on “First Take,” Ireland said the three-game sentence handed down by NFL strongman Roger Goodell to America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, “kills the Bucs.”

Why? Because the team desperately needs its starting quarterback for the first three games of the season: at New Orleans and home games against Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Teams that start 0-3 are doomed, only 2.9 percent since 1980 have advanced to the playoffs. No 0-3 team has made the playoffs since the division realignment of 2002. This is why Joe has been stuck in a deep depression since he first learned of Jameis’ suspension.

You can watch Ireland’s full take below.

  1. Larry Says:

Jameis let the entire Bucs organization and all the Bucs fans down! Let’s face it: He has a problem when it comes to respecting women!! That said…. I don’t think it will be as bad without Winston as people are saying. I believe the secondary is more problematic that Fitzpatrick. Fitz played well last year. He has a much better team around him this year.

  2. gp Says:

    Been a fan since 76
    Never bought a ticket
    Never bought a jersey
Never missed a game, either on TV or radio , every one

Now I’m thinking of buying a Jameis Jersey and at least a couple of game tickets just to hack off the uber-leftists out there

  3. Bill Says:

I still think the Bucs can squeeze past New Orleans with a good showing at get out at 1-2.

  4. Lunchbox Says:

I may be in the minority, but I have a feeling Fitzpatrick might be this years Case Keenum. Someone who surprises everybody, while mentoring our First Round Pick on the sideline, all the while setting himself up for…one more run with the Bills? The Jets? Arizona? Anyway, a guy can dream. Its not even preseason.

  5. Tampaspicer Says:

Well if we aren’t going to win the 1st 3 games like the media says lets just forfeit those 3 games. I’m so tired of hearing about the Bucs are going to start 0-3 to start the season. I lift my middle finger to all of them. 3-0 to start the season is what I say!!!!!

  6. Kobe Faker Says:

“All those draft picks, and not 1 decent difference maker…much of backup meh”

    Kobe Faker

  7. Buc1987 Says:

    @gp….I love you man.

    Go Bucs!

  8. Lamarcus Says:

    Suspension kills Bucs

I think retaining Msmith was dangerous to the season and zero accountability was more damning TO THE SEASON and higher risk to fail the season than JW missing 3 games which we wasn’t going to win anyway with JW playing. This is a 5-11 team and unproven. Only a passing game that can’t score to speak of. In the biggest hype and moment for all Bucs fans for awhile turned into medicore play from almost every single aspect of the football. Now that’s proven.

No Joe. I don’t think Koetter should be spared if knowingly he had 10+ months or so knowingly he had JW suspension of some sort and his goes turtle. I think Eagles and Saints could be beaten by the Bucs with Fitz. So #no excuse for Koetter.

  9. SB Says:

Fock gp…….that is just the perfect shock post!

  10. SB Says:

You guys Do realize what we robbed from Philly’s DL don’t you?
SB teams get Hammered every time unless your name is B.B.
I think we beat Philly if Noone else. Screenshot this sh!t.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

Kobe Faker….the difference maker FOR Tampa IS Jameis Winston. You know this already yet you antagonize our fanbase continually. For reasons I have no Idea why, but keep doing it ….cause I’m starting to wonder WHY this area STILL has an NFL franchise anymore. Or about the NFL in general on a number of levels. Starting to blame LIBS for many things including this. I think Jameis Winston IS the answer to the BUCS woes of the last 15 yrs. Still do. Am I wrong? I don’t care. It’s not my call. F. I am just a fan….I know it’s tough in this day to BE just a fan..if you are blogging or on JBF daily. I am a GREAT & proud fan of The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Effing A if there is any OTHER way of being a Bucs fan…proud! That’s me. BE a fan of a team…off the field nonsense…I don’t care. Really I don’t care. Those of you that want to write the perfect story…”everybody was an angel” that’s not alway’s true. That’s why I don’t care.

This FAN stands by the Bucs and the decision they made to make Jameis the QB and general leader of this team. Do I think cutting and releasing him is a bad idea at this point? Hell YES!!!

That’s 3 exclamations on an iPad in case you don’t understand. Roll the dice on another QB in the draft and start all over IF you think that’s the answer. IF you as a fan can show me the answer at QB to WANT to start all over again, then show him to me. Name THAT QB. Seriously!

  12. Buc1987 Says:

IF you fans had ANY idea of what gets aloud to get posted at JBF and what Does NOT this site would be out of business.

True fans see what’s going on hashtag that Steve and blah blah blah….87…Mark.

  13. Bucfan Says:

When I was 24 I blacked out in a club and woke up with a women twice my age wearing a walking boot in my house and remembered nothing. Where is her accountability lol. I am willing to bet this Uber driver has even grabbed an a** or two! Go Winston and the Bucs! playoffs or bust!

  14. Bird Says:

    ^^^

To all the posts above. I’m in my 40s. And yes I did some stupid things as A kid as well .

However, I was not the messiah growing up at a top notch program where the spotlight is in you 24/7. We didn’t really have cell phones. No social media so times were different back then. Even athletes in our time even say it would be be difficult to be an athlete of today because the camera is on you 24/7. He grew up in this new era and was annoited “the one “at a very young age

So please stop with the young / stupid mistakes excuses. It doesn’t fly. Athletes in their teens who are gonna make it big and millions of dollars are being told by 50 different people that their actions have consequences so stop.

He messed up and then messed And kept messing up and then finally lied about it on the last mess up when he didn’t even remember what happened. Trying to make her look bad. However he is a buc so I support him the best I can until he is not one !

  15. feelthepewterpower Says:

They key will be trying to steal on in NOLA, or steal one at home vs. Philly. If the Buccs go 1-2 they’ll be fine, imo. Although, 1-2 should not be the mindset. 3-0 is the mentality we need regardless of who is playing, and the Buccs are capable. I say 1-2 because they’ll need one game vs. an NFC opponent, preferably the division game vs. NOLA to stay in the race early. A Steelers win would just be a cherry on top of the ice cream with a fresh Winston ready and eager to go Week for in Chicago. Otherwise, 0-3 is uphill, and the team would have likely go 10-3 at the very least (depending on who they beat…..mostly NFC and division opponents along the way) to get in.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I too, am not at all willing to forfeit the first 3 games at all……I am quite sure that our new defense….and improved running game and a good game manager in Fitz can pull off at least 1 victory, maybe 2.

This may be one of those circumstances where the entire team steps up to compensate for Jameis’ absence.

  17. Kobe Faker Says:

“Watching Jameis yesterday, Kobe and everyone should be 100% convinced that this present toxic situation is irreparable…

JW3 and the Tampa Bay Bucs should separate for the benefit of both parties”

    Kobe Faker

  18. 1sparkybuc Says:

Handicap?…..yes. Kill?…..no, absolutely not. The Bucs will have a winning season this year, and Winston will be a large part of it.

  19. put up or shut up Says:

every season teams get better, and teams digress, QB’s get older and it eventually shows up on the field(manning) injuries happen, nothing is set in stone i for one am looking forward to this season and to see what our new defensive free agents along with our draft picks, specially rojo and vea can do, after watching highlights of rojo in school man i’m excited about the running game

  20. Waterboy Says:

1-2 is my expectations with or without Winston.

  21. Bucsfanman Says:

Buc1987- Yes sir, bring it. It is the reason I chose my name to be “Bucs-fan-man”. I am a fan of the Buccaneers, a football team and source of entertainment. If I want politics or drama I would go elsewhere.
Yes, I was disappointed with Jameis, however, he doesn’t put food on my table nor pays my bills. He’s serving a 3 game suspension and I’m fine with that. I’m fine with that because I root for the team. Just like Kwon, just like Martin, just like Evans their decisions hurt the team. But just because they are/were missing doesn’t make me root for the team less.
I said this a day or two ago and it has more than been fulfilled: If you’re mad, you’ve probably BEEN mad, and will most likely STAY mad. So, good luck with that!

These predictions are ridiculous! They act as though these teams haven’t changed a bit. However, Koetter better have the team ready. There are no excuses. This team’s had all offseason to prepare.
    Go Bucs!

  22. Phil Says:

The Bucs need to win at least one of the first three games to have a chance this season. Ronald Jones will be the key. He needs to get off to a fast start. If he does we have a chance.

  23. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Point on again BFMMM!!!! Bottom line is Koetter better have the Bucs ready to play or I’m afraid he’s outta here.

  24. Dooshlarue Says:

    Lunchbox,

I’m part of the minority you speak of.
I am more excited about this team BECAUSE JW isn’t starting the first 3 games. I’m not a JW hater, but I am real close.
I really believe we have a better chance of winning with Fitzpatrick.

Watch Fitzpatrick hit our receivers in stride.
Watch Fitzpatrick throw the ball away when there is nothing.
Watch Fitzpatrick accomplish the amazing task of just holding on to the ball.

    Go Bucs!!

  25. BuccaneerScotty Says:

He threw a pick to McCoy lmao who cares if he here or not he’s all talk,he will make a great used car salesman or telemarketer ….. NEXT MAN UP!!!!

  26. OneBuc55 Says:

This fan base is joke…I’m actually embarrassed to be a Bucs fan right now and it has nothing to do with Jameis Winston…

I stand behind Jameis 100% he’s apologized to everyone; now he has people nitpicking the way he apologized…This story is old news recycled by the media repeatedly just to have something to talk about during the off-season…

Now we have fans jumping on the Fitzpatrick bandwagon, he’s a career back-up/journeyman QB for a reason…He’s not very good; he’s smart, but physically limited…the wins he had last year came against the worst teams on our schedule…

Jameis just needs to shut up and play ball; everything he says is over-analyezed and taken out of context…Other than this Uber incident imo he’s been a model citizen since arriving in Tampa Bay off the field…and He’s gotten better every year on the field and he’s still just 24 yrs old…

If the Bucs are dumb enough to let him walk, I hope the Saints swoop in and sign him so he can kick the crap out of this pathetic franchise twice a year for the rest of his career…We have the absolute worst fan base in the league bar none…

  27. BuccaneerScotty Says:

And do me a favor please stop acting like you’re losing Aaron Rodgers……

  28. feelthepewterpower Says:

It’s not just winning 1 of the 3 games. The key is which one do they win (if any,if all?). I don’t foresee using in a tiebreaker with the Eagles, as they’ll likely win our division but it still counts as a conference game if we tie with other teams; still important to win nfc games. The Saints game is the biggest as it counts double, and in our division, it will likely come down to tiebreaks. IF we only win, the Saints game is the one. In addition to a victory vs. the Saints, stealing one vs. the Eagles or Steelers would be icing. The team needs urgency in all three games, however. Every game is critical in a tough NFC Conference, with the goal to win the division as winning the division is the only guarantee of a playoff berth.

  29. feelthepewterpower Says:

Err, the Eagles will likely win their division, though conference record may come in handy outside of the division as far as a wild card…..

  30. BuccaneerScotty Says:

Worst fanbase in the NFL? I’ve been rooting for this team for 36 years bro! People are sick of the same old same old crap with this organization and team don’t tell me what kind of fans we are after what we’ve been through and how this teams run if we were bad fans it would be no fans!

  31. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Doosh – One of those uninformed fans who knows nothing about football and certainly doesn’t watch other teams. You say you aren’t a JW hater, but you are excited about Fitz starting because he gives us a better chance of winning. Please stop! You give Tampa fans a bad name when you post something so idiotic. You can hate him if you want over this latest incident, but don’t claim the Harvard guy is the better QB. GFOH!

  32. Godeep66 Says:

Where is Dr Emmet Brown when we need him? I wish we could jump in that damn Delorian and switch our pick to Marcus Mariota.

  33. Destinjohnny Says:

Is jameis that much better then Fitz?
I think he is a little better but jameis has consistency issues
I actually felt a little sorry for jameis yesterday
I know he did it to himself and he has a shAkey past but it was hard to watch

  34. mark2001 Says:

Larry…worse than letting fans down, his actions may have doomed Koetter and Licht. And that means starting over again, no matter whether Jameis stays or goes.

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I have to be honest here.

I have this uncle who is only a few months older than me, so we grew up more like brothers. The thing about him though is that he whined about things all of the time, to the point where I could hardly stand being around him for extended periods.

“This is why Joe has been stuck in a deep depression since he first learned of Jameis’ suspension.”

We’ve heard about this feeling you’ve had most of the off season, Joe #2. As a result of it, we’ve heard about how the Bucs haven’t developed a cornerback in two years (never mind that it takes 3). We’ve heard all sorts of reasons not to follow this team.

It’s a shame, because Joe #1 usually balances it out, but the negativity has been too strong.

Want to know why I was not a product of my environment and did not turn out like my uncle?

Because I made a conscious decision not to. You may want to do the same thing now. You are basing your depression on the Bucs going 0-3 when the games have not even been played yet.

That’s like my uncle whining that he would be blind by 30 and not get to play catch with his kids when we were young. Here he is over 50, still not blind.

    Think about it.

  36. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Destinjohnny Says
“Is jameis that much better then Fitz?
I think he is a little better”

    Sweet Christmas.

Jameis is leaps and bounds above Fitz. Stop listening to the opinions of others and actually look at the facts.

Have you even looked into the past of Fitz? Do you even realize the games he won last year were two of the worst teams in the league?

Do you understand that the liars say Jameis has not improved every year, but the facts show otherwise?

  37. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Licht will be here for years to come.

Koetter will be extended after this season.

Winston will get a new deal after next season at the latest.

  38. Bucsfanman Says:

Preach Bonzai!!! It is most certainly a CHOICE!

  39. 813bucboi Says:

    lamarcus

    I agree…..retaining this staff killed the bucs…..

dirk has had since NOV. to create a plan around fitz for 3 games….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  40. Destinjohnny Says:

Think jameis is a top 15 QB?
I don’t know that u can say he is

  41. Godeep66 Says:

I would put him in the 15-20th from a QB ranking perspective. Although, he will be 33rd for the first three games this year. Pretty damn sad how he let us all down. SMH.

  42. ben Says:

Winston is an average qb ..NO big deal with him gone .

  43. Doctor Stroud Says:

Right after the draft and just before JW’s suspension, most football prognosticators didn’t give the Bucs much of a chance anyway, even when we assumed that he might be available. Let’s hope that the team pulls together and proves everyone wrong. Any given Sunday! I don’t have much faith in the coaches, GM, or ownership (because they haven’t proven it), but you can’t just lie down before the game is even played.

  44. Greg Schiano Says:

[It is very sad people have to learn the hard way. Joe thought his readers were smarter than this. — Joe]

  45. Dooshlarue Says:

    TDTB,

    We’ll see what happens………

  46. Buc1987 Says:

Godeep…IMO there’s been a lot of fake fans on this site posting over last couple weeks. Damn sad.

  47. Dapostman Says:

I’m right in line with the Waterboy above. 1 – 2 with or without Winston to start the season.

  48. Buc1987 Says:

Peeps want to continually hit Winston on this site. Now I’m hitting back.

    I’m your Huckleberry….

Makes me want to call for an Uber and grope them….

    YES I said it!

  49. T REX Says:

“If the Bucs are dumb enough to let him walk, I hope the Saints swoop in and sign him so he can kick the crap out of this pathetic franchise twice a year for the rest of his career…We have the absolute worst fan base in the league bar none”

Piss off. I hate these fans.

    BUCS>any player ever

Turn in your fan card and so can anyone else that says crap like this. We don’t need you.

  50. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Stay Classy 1987

  51. martinii Says:

Look if memory serves me well a guy named Noles, filling in for a guy named Wentz win the Super bowl last year. It’s a team sport. We could easily loose the first 3 games and go to the play-offs. Can’t we start a season on a high note for a change. Do we really have to go around looking under rocks to find a reason we why it is totally futile to even play the first 3 games. Man it’s only day 3 of training camp, pull the puny stick out of my foot and at least let me enjoy the first few weeks of the season.

PS I could give a good flying crap what the rest of the leagues talking heads think………..

  52. martinii Says:

Nick Foles, sorry, my anger clouds my ability to spell.

  53. Buc1987 Says:

Jmarkbuc….it’s tough AS I sit here in my Warren Sapp jersey thinking about how many times over the DECADES I’ve seen people grope other people. Or the lies I’ve been told or have told. I see posters that have never been on this site before trying to run my QB off. Some “haters” as they say were already haters anyways. We know who they are. They started that long ago.

Nonsense. What’s bigger nonsense than ANY of this? The nonsense MY team has put out on the field the last 15 years. MUCH bigger than groping and lying. YES imo it is. I have 2 daughters…one of which I will ask to wear her #3 jersey to Wally World with me later.

  54. martinii Says:

Do I have to go through the whole season on moderation? It is so frustrating to wait 3 hours to see my comment hit the screen. By then two new articles have been published, other posters have moved on from the topic, and I have no opportunity to interact with other fans. Is there anything I can do on my end? Change E-mail, Change password, change name? I am a long time Buc fan, joebucfan, veteran, responsible member of the community. Why are you discriminating against me????????

  55. Jman5 Says:

its Not just Uber leftists that have a problem with 3’s uberdouchery. Even the kind on display at his presser.

  56. Bucsfanman Says:

MMTM! Happy Friday! Just calling it as I see it.

1987- You are on fire today! I have to agree about the travesty that has been the product fielded by this organization over the last decade and change!

martinii- Stay just the way you are my friend. Thanks for your service.
I 100% agree that Fitz is more than capable of winning games, and frankly it is what we SHOULD expect. We need to start expecting to win, not lose. Get rid of the loser mentality!

  57. Dooshlarue Says:

So if Fitzpatrick is successful I’ll go ahead and list some of the Winston Worshippers responses:

Well he had a running game.
The Defense finally did their job and held a lead.
    We finally have a kicker.
Dirk finally figured out how to call plays.

    I can’t wait.

Then we can put JW in after the bye week and see what happens.

    This is gonna be good.

    Go Bucs!

  58. Reality_43 Says:

    @ Bonzai

Wish we could grab a beer sometime.
I’m feelin what you are laying down and I too am bewildered at how depression can set in for games that haven’t even been played.

I mean everyone is acting like the Saints are unbeatable, but we just beat them, with Ingram playing. They were last in the Division the year prior, and honestly the addition of only 2 players made a difference. Lattimore and Kamara.
Why can’t Carlton or Stewart and Rojo do the same for us.

I mean we haven’t even seen our rookies in pads yet.

Amazing how people take what the media says and become drama queens with it.

I say we go 2-1 at the worst honestly.
If we lose to the Saints the Philly game gets a more determined Bucs team and so on with the Steelers.

2 of the 3 games are at home.

I mean I could go on and on of what makes a difference in an NFL game.

    Injuries, turnovers, bad calls, etc.

I mean Dam people. Do you guys even hope the Bucs win?

  59. Tony LA Says:

But the real question is WHY are the Bucs screwed without Winston?

The reason: not bringing in another QB to compete and settling on his backup Fitz to start – the man with the worst winning percentage in the NFL for any QB who has started more that 75 games.

That decision is the one that should doom this regime to their fate.

  60. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Can I just say?

It is good to see you, Buc1987!

  61. Jeffbuc Says:

But I thought jameis was a horrible quarterback a turnover machine. That’s what all the analysts keep saying he has to be better on the field. But then they say that the bucs are doomed without jameis as there starting quarterback. So which is it one breath he stinks one breath he has to be on the field for them to have a chance to win. That’s why I tune out all the nfl network and espn talking heads

  62. Pickgrin Says:

Yea – welcome back ’87. Definitely time to come out swinging on these whiny hypocrites who want to run off Jameis based allegedly on some inner sense of moral superiority.

  63. Tom T. Says:

    Who is this guy?
