Prickly Pete’s Bucs’ Prediction

July 24th, 2018

Predicts Bucs’ season.

Kudos to prickly Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com who has decided to predict each and every game of the NFL season just as training camps are opening.

Two positives for Bucs fans from Prisco: They survive Life Without Jameis beating the Steelers at home to start the season 1-3. Remember, teams that start 0-3 have a 2.9 percent chance of making the playoffs.

Alas, the rest of the first half of the season the Bucs go into the toilet bowl before starting a 5-1 stretch in the middle of the season — before they run out of gas and finish 6-10.

Once again, Joe wonders — and Joe likely may not have an answer until January — if the Bucs come near .500 but fall short, will Bucs coach Dirk Koetter be given a mulligan because his franchise quarterback dug a hole for the team to start the 2018 campaign.

I have them suprising the world and going 10-6. I just feel that when expectiations are low sometimes things happen. Say whatever you want we all can guess but I feel that this team improved enough this offeason that they will be better than they were last year and they could have won 5 more games last year. Also just every season people think that the previous season is an indicator of how strong the competition is……….WRONG. don’t be surprised if the eagles suck, the saints, suck, and the BEARS are good.

  2. Blue-footed booby Says:

Some days I wonder, who will make it back to the playoffs sooner, the Buccaneers or the Browns? I’d love to say the Bucs but the Browns already got rid of their problem child QB a couple of years ago while Lichts Out has no choice but to stick with our problem child QB because he’s the one who put all of his eggs into the Winston basket. It’d be nice to have a starting quarterback who’s not a walking suspension and one incident away from a lifetime ban from the NFL …

  3. DB55 Says:

In other articles posters say that Fitz outplayed Winston. In the next breath they’re saying that Winston put the team in a hole. Which is it? Can Winston be outplayed by Fitz while simultaneously be putting his team in a position to lose games? And if so, how exactly does that work?

  4. Pickgrin Says:

A 2-7 start?? Looks like Pete was throwing darts to decide all these game outcomes. Prior to training camp and pre-season no less.

Bucs will be quite competitive this year and win no less than 8 games.

    You’re funny bro.

  6. Angry Bucs Fan Says:

You know these prediction folks are often wrong. Nobody knows what kinda performance the teams will really put up. Especially when not one single game pre-season or otherwise has been played. There can be injuries that devastate one team giving another team a window. There can be surprise stars who emerge. That is why I ignore the prediction game and just watch each game and hope the Bucs prevail. Any team can win any given day.

  7. Tampaspicer Says:

Based on those predicted scores if they are true (which they will not be) the Bucs are kicking a lot of field goals.

  8. tnew Says:

Koetter should be OK with Pete’s prediction as he has the Bucs 3-9 in one score games. According to Licht and Koetter that is a good thing. They sold that to the Glazers last season.

  9. adam from ny Says:

going 1-3 down the stretch has team koetter hiking up dale mabry in tight panties…hope frisky pete is wrongerooski

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Predictions are one of the more unnecessary things we have to endure in the off-season……it really doesn’t matter if they are 3-13 or 10-6…..totally meaningless.

The key to our season will be winning close games because we will have many.

  11. Sweeptheleg Says:

How can anyone with a sane mind believe this team is gonna go 10-6?

Seriously? You’re gonna be really let down. Have you not seen the schedule?

We’re not the only team that drafted this season. Other teams got better too.
    6-10 I’d theyre lucky.

Oh look DB55 the if you don’t love worship and support Winston it’s because you’re a racist guy. So glad you’re back.

  12. Sweeptheleg Says:

    10-6 lmao wow that’s funny.

How can anyone believe this team will be 10-6?

    6-10 if they’re lucky.

  13. D-Rome Says:

2017 was the mulligan. He will not get one nor should he. If Jameis was a top 10 QB that would be a different story.

  14. Buccaneer scotty Says:

If he was a top 10 Qb we would have made the playoffs already bad defense and all….

  15. stpetebucsfan Says:

    DB55

Here’s how it works…if you’re a Forrest Gump like mind who goes out partying with questionable friends and get blackout drunk till 3AM forcing those “friends’ to pour you in an Uber and get suspended for three games….and again was this his first transgression? Why no he has a long and storied resume from FSU both on and off the field. One is good…the other not so much.

For three games….I AM PLAYING AS WELL AS JAMEIS!!! So of course Fitz will outplay Jameis in those first three games because he has the ability…AVAILABILITY that Jameis lacks.

  16. mark2001 Says:

For you youngsters on this board, Prisco is usually, from my experience, a pretty optimistic guy when it comes to the Bucs. So take that into consideration thinking about his prediction. Let’s hope the dark clouds on the horizon break…. but they seem pretty dark and plentiful.

    2017 was the mulligan.

Exactly! There should not be ANY mulligans, period! This staff will have known and should have been preparing all off-season. This TEAM is bigger than Jameis Winston. There are no excuses!
These predictions are hilarious anyway. What a stretch!!! 6-10 after going 5-11!!! Way to go out on a limb there Pete!
Anything short of a playoff run should get EVERYONE fired, IMO.

  18. Reality_43 Says:

All the 1 point games lost me.
Absolutely no logic whatsoever to those pics, and COMPLETELY based off last year.

Even has Jags and Pats in the AFC Title game AGAIN. No imagination LOL

  19. 813bucboi Says:

    D-ROME

    I agree…..6-10 wont get it done….

I predict dirk and smitty making history and being let go DEC…..glazers give buckner a shot and the team wins its last 3 or 4 games finishing at 6-10…..

buckner returns next year and makes the playoffs with Winston…..Winston breaks the bank and we begin a 10year playoff run!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES….GO BUCS!!!!

  20. ndog Says:

This team is more talented than the Bears, Browns, Bengals, Redskins, Giants, Ravens and Cowboys. So if they beat the teams they are better than and split with the division then they are 10-6. See Sweeptheleg I presented it where you can actually see how it happens. Now will it is anyone’s guess but IT CAN HAPPEN.

  21. ndog Says:

Heck I forgot about the 49ers we are more talented than them as well.

  22. Casey Morgan Says:

“How can anyone with a sane mind believe this team is gonna go 10-6? Seriously? You’re gonna be really let down. Have you not seen the schedule?”

Here’s how. We kick a couple extra points and field goals to win a game or two more than last year. Our D line sacks a QB occasionally and win a game or two. We have a running back who can take it to the house once or twice. And the schedule means nothing. There is very little difference in NFL teams talent. 10-6.

  23. DB55 Says:

    SPBF

Seems like double jeopardy to me but wtfdik

  24. Sweeptheleg Says:

If this maybe that could be this if this.

Please. I’m putting my mo yea on the under.

We have the 4th best QB in the division who isn’t even playing the whole season.

10-6 lmao. Yea ok. Get ready to be humbled.

  25. 1sparkybuc Says:

9 and 7 minimum. Band of brothers bonds in adversity.

  26. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

I have us winning it all this year. Or st least a deep playoff run.

We are so stacked and I think we finally put it all together this year.

Whoever is back there at QB just needs to distribute the ball to our ELITE playmakers and manage the game efficiently.

  27. Malcolm-Reynolds Says:

It’s HILARIOUS that SO MANY of these prognosticators just copy and paste the standings from the previous season and predict that the teams that were good last season will AUTOMATICALLY be good again and the bad teams will continue to be bad. Because we all KNOW that teams don’t regress or improve. Yep, nothing like sticking with the status quo! Staying with that line of thinking, since the 49ers won 5 straight to end the previous season they will naturally continue their strong run this season and make a strong playoff run with the next Tom Brady. And naturally the teams that finished badly last season have NO CHANCE to make a playoff run. I wonder how many of these geniuses predicted a Jacksonville run deep into the playoffs LAST off-season? Just asking.

  28. donuts Says:

I will stick with Vegas on this one….6 wins is their prediction and I agree. They are putting their money on it and the behind the locker room door research is more in depth in vegas than anywhere else including that crack investigation team of the NFL. They gotta know…their biz depends on it.

  29. Architek Says:

Honestly can you fault the negative outlook? Bucs have to prove they can win.

  30. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

I am not just some fanboy who looks through creamcycle colored glasses. You negative trolls cant realize that Bucs just had an a great offseason and addressed the one thing that was 90% of the teams problem last year. When you get absolutely zero pass rush the entire defense is going to suck and it did. Getting JPP and adding Vea is going to improve the defense drastically. Add in a couple of second round CBs, a safety, and RB for the offense and this team should be drastically improved. I am hoping that you guys come back and apologize when this team far outperforms your uneducated low expectations.

  31. Fire Goodell Says:

He predicted 9-7 and a wild card spot for the Bucs in 2017. There’s A LOT of others he got wrong too.

    New York Jets (0-16)
    New York Giants (10-6)
    Philadelphia Eagles (8-8)
    Green Bay Packers (14-2)
    Minnesota Vikings (6-10)
    Arizona Cardinals (11-5)
    Los Angeles Rams (3-13)
    San Francisco 49ers (2-14)
