How Many Nicholas Carlsons Are There?

July 26th, 2018

Fan down

It’s rare that a Tweet kicks Joe in the gut.

But one this afternoon did. And it’s got Joe wondering how many hardcore Bucs supporters feel the same way.

You can see the Tweet below. It’s from Nicholas Carlson, a guy Joe knows isn’t spouting BS, a guy Joe knows put a lot of thought and anguish into what he typed this afternoon.

https://twitter.com/nichcarlson/status/1022582174753742848

Carlson’s fame is irrelevant. For Joe, the question is how many other guys like Carlson, men who have lived and breathed Bucs football for decades, have checked out because of Jameis Winston.

Joe doesn’t know the answer and, Joe suspects, neither does Team Glazer.

Joe gets the frustration of fans — former fans? — like Carlson, but Joe thinks completely ditching the Bucs over Jameis is harsh, especially for a long-time fan.

Heck, Joe really struggled when the Bucs signed and then re-signed tight end Jerramy Stevens, whose resumé of misdeeds was far longer and more nasty than Jameis’. And Stevens certainly wasn’t busting his butt to help the community like Jameis has been. But Joe grimaced through each of Stevens’ four touchdown catches in 2007 and was able to stomach his presence — until he was arrested in Tampa and cut three years later.

Yeah, Stevens didn’t play quarterback. He wasn’t the face of the franchise. It’s different.

Joe remains all-in with the Bucs, which means being supportive of Jameis but realistic, too.

And frankly, the old news reporter in Joe, who has seen all kinds of cover-ups, misdeeds, injustices and false accusations in the world, feels uncomfortable convicting Jameis in the court of public opinion without a police report, details from the NFL of what happened and a name of the accused.

Winston is as good as gone. Money talks. Glazers listen.

  2. Walter Seidel Says:

And Joe, you’re finally seeing the light. Thank you.

  3. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

Glazers are a far bigger problem than winston is. Glazers have been embarrassing the sport of football for nearly 2 decades. Jameis is an easy target in this gender neutral feelings above integrity world that we live. At least jameis is not a priest.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

There are many who will threaten to abandon the Bucs in order to affect the outcome they desire (Winston Gone)…..some will actually follow through….those who put theirs in writing and with their real names are probably serious.

I agree that it should be extremely difficult to abandon a life-long passion. It would have to be something unthinkable for me to do it.

This should at least give Joe some pause when it comes to continuing the “America’s QB”. After all, could you imagine the blow-back if one of the networks continued to call Bill Cosby “America’s Dad”?

  5. Knoxville Buc Fan Says:

Good grief Joe it’s time to move on… I mean damn the kid apparently is now owning up to his mistake. Maybe we should replace JW with the Pope. If anyone chooses not to watch the Bucs on Sunday’s so be it. Find another team or go play Golf.

  6. Bucsfan DFW Says:

Not sure what the issue is. Per an earlier post, we have all gotten hammered and done something similar. Generally, this is between the girl and the guy that did it and he gets his “come uppance” from her. In the days of the “metoo” movement, 24 hour news cycle, and social media, the players live under a microscope, and even boneheaded things like this become a firestorm. The person Jameis has to worry about is his fiancée. If she is still good with him, then how self righteous are we, the fans to get so out of sorts. I too have been a fan (since 96) and Jameis would appear to be the best chance that the Bucs have to win some football games. This is nothing like what Big Ben did and got away with. And while we will neve know the whole story, even the Uber driver said that Jameis “touched her”, and that was it. Get over it people.

  12. DB55 Says:

A wise man once told me “this too shall pass”.

Honestly I almost checked out bc of the fans.

My confusion lies in the fact that we as a nation condemn Winston yet we praise national leaders (no one in particular just overall) for doing the same and worse including but not limited to lying, cheating and stealing. Personally I just don’t get it.

Luckily, we live in a free nation that allows us to decide whom we wish to support. Finally, I’ll say this, I think the glazers should stop hiding and address the fan base.

  13. Buc believer Says:

You people are all Ashloles!!! If the Stealers got rid of Rothlesburger they would have two less Super Bowls. Short of pulling an OJ Simpson I don’t give a rats arse what he does in his own time. Just bring wins!!!

  14. passthebuc Says:

He does not act as if he was at wrong. If he was not wrong, why would he throw 50 million away?
There is a lot we do not know, however, most UBER drivers have cameras. We also do not know the financial involvement of the Team G. or the NFL, much less Winston himself.
If he is as guilty as he looks, I say he goes, if not, he fights.

  15. lightningbuc Says:

In response to Carlson – #MeToo

  16. superslacker Says:

There are a lot of Carlsons out there. I was pumped after free agency and the draft… but I have lost most of my interest in this team because of Winston and the neverending drama.

  17. FairMinded Says:

Oh wow a random guy’s tweet keeps this story alive? If people don’t keep dredging it up it becomes yesterday’s news Not a random guy.–Joe

  18. The Buc Realist Says:

That is why the ‘real” fans are surprised that joe is scared to put up any jw3 polls!!!!!!! if this had been anyone else, we would have seen 5 polls already!!!!!!!!

I am one of the Buc Fans that gave JW3 a clean slate, a fresh start when drafted, even though I was in the “trade down” group because I thought the roster was garbage and not ready!!!!!!! I have been struggling with being a fan from the Jw3 debacle!!!!! And it is more than just the Uber $#!&!!!!!!! I did not like that at the first sign of trouble jw3 camp distanced from Head Coach Koetter!!!!! I did not like that he first statement of denial!!!!!! The “real” fans are having a major issue with trust!!!!!!

We could care less about the trainer and the T-shirt hassle!!!!!! But when jw3 tweeted that “what, we in the shirt making business now” that first thought was that we would find out 2 months later that he did indeed make the T-shirt!!!!!!!!!

For the meantime, The “real” fans will take the approach of, The Leash is very short!!!! On the field and especially off the field!!!!!! But it will not take much on the field to ask why are we putting up with the Bull$#!&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. brooks55hof Says:

It’s not just the Winston debacle. I didn’t renew my season tickets for a number of reasons. After 15 years, I saw 2 playoff games, watched numerous wasted draft picks bust out, endured ticket price increases, watched the head coach revolving door and players protesting our National Anthem (please let them protest their paychecks). I drive down from Orlando, pay for tolls, gas and food. It’s a culmination of frustration and disgust and now, our number one draft pick franchise QB is suspended for the first three games of the new season. It just not worth it anymore.

Please read an article on Big Ben from USA today in 2015. After 5 years of hatred. Not that it should make a difference but Ben had already won a super bowl (maybe both) and cemented himself as a top player.

  21. Architek Says:

People are also tired of losing and on top of that the multiple failed experiments with supposed great players.

  22. Durango 95 Says:

Front running phony. Jumps on board when things turn around and the team starts winning. Seems to think he carries some sort of cache as a fair weather fan. Lol. By all means Nicholas take your smarty glasses wearing, skinny jeans fad fashion, soymilk drinking, virtue signaling, passive aggressive posturing-self on down the road. Get involved with something that’s a little more your speed. Maybe handing out trophies to every 8 year old that signs up for little league.

  23. Bucfish7 Says:

The court of public opinion truly makes me sick to my stomach. Why do we keep reading headlines and simply believing whatever the media tells us? I’m afraid, in our current culture, our minds are becoming too lazy to thoroughly think things through anymore. Many didn’t like Winston when he was drafted, and I suspect those are the loudest “Cut him or else…” voices out there! I don’t know if he did it, and I don’t know that he didn’t – neither do 99.99% (100%?) of you out there. What I do know is that he was punished, and like someone serving a jail sentence, he should be given a chance to earn back his job, fans, leadership over the team, respect, etc. after his suspension. Many don’t want to hear that, so stones just hurl through the air. It’s easy to throw stones and pile on someone who’s down. There must be many near-perfect people out there. “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone…”

  24. northendbuc Says:

Jameis will get a 2nd chance. Period. Many will say he’s had 2nd Chances. But not as a Buc. He’s a first overall pick, and he’s a QB. They will give it to him. Period.
Then Its up to Jameis to take his game and the Bucs to another level. IF and When he does and starts putting up Wins, only then will things progress beyond where they are now, and we will all stop bitching and start rallying. Go Bucs !! From a lifetime Buc Fan since 1976. yes thats right.

  25. Frank J Reichert III Says:

Team Jameis. I’m still more concerned about his turnovers than him gettin shut down trying to holler at a uber driver. Just some more feminist bull spit and pc culture nonsense.

  26. Chris Says:

I am struggling here. Winston has not performed like a lights out player, acts very immature on the field (eating W’s) while calling it leadership, and now Ubergate. The potential and flashes of his talent are real.
I had season tix last year…not this one.
The question to me… Who is the REAL Jameis!
I’m an avid fan of the Team but these days are not so good.
    Change is in the air.

  27. Larry Says:

I kind of recall being 22 and getting drunk and feeling my oats. I can’t get on Winston’s case when I know what a jerk I’d been while drunk at his age! Get real people.

  28. K_Bassuka Says:

He is either not a real fan or his significant other took his balls. I will not stop supporting my “loved team” because of the actions or inactions of one player or ownership specially the owners that haven’t done anything immoral.

Nicholasa Carlson can go and become a Browns fan all I care and the same goes for all others alleged fans that get butthurt over every single thing ownership does that they don’t like.

  29. Durango 95 Says:

Even if you believe the tale spun by an anonymous Uber driver just how badly was she assaulted when her reaction was to ask “what’s up with that”?

    Oh the drama!

  30. Orlampa Turd Says:

Bucs fan since I was old enough to watch football (pre Sam Wyche) and a Florida State grad. I wanted the Glazers to cut him but I have accepted the fact that they won’t). For the good of the team I hope he gets his act together.

  31. MadMax Says:

    Still havent signed Foles yet?

eh, im still around, sooo many other guys on this team i love and pull for. Just not as enthusiastic this time around as prior years. Its always something with this team: the failed signings, the failed high draft picks, 1st rounder traded for a big $$ signing, the failed coach experiments, failed O line and D line signings, mrsa, freefree losing his head, its always something! But this one bites hard! 1st overall pick and at QB. Thats the most valuable pick that you CANT afford to not work out. Just makes me smh and adds to the tiredness over these last 10 years. as far as jw3, im in wait and see mode. Deep down i think he’ll probably screw up on field, throw some more stupid antics. As far as off the field, maybe there wont be any more issues, but who knows….past history is an indicator of the future. And its over stupid stuff he couldve controlled…and the lying and trying to cover it up….thats what ticks me off the most!

I really dont care if he stays or goes. Short of him playing lights out this season, id rather save the money for our other good players we need to sign and just move on. But im not going to turn my back on the rest of the guys….still a fan of them!!! Especially the D! Im ready to see our D get it together this year.

  35. Dapostman Says:

Snowflakes melt in the Florida heat. The first and really only pro sports team he ever loved? Oh brother. Grow a pair dude. This guy is going to need a safe space when Winston comes back. Maybe one of you other anti Winston brothers can help a brother out. SMH.

    #Get after it!

  36. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Frankly, I do not care. The real fans know that this team isn’t just about Jameis. There are other players who HAVE earned respect, and Nicholas is only proving he was never really a Bucs fan.

  38. Steve Says:

I just wanted to make a point ,about Big Ben and what he did which I thought was awful and felt his punishment was not nearly severe enough, and Jamis and what he did did. And that is that you cannot lose sight of the difference in society’s attitude about this type of behavior and how much more sensitive an issue it is today. The NFL knows that and i think had some affect on Jamis punishment

  39. Dooshlarue Says:

I’ll NEVER quit on my team.
I think this season is going to be much better than last season and I’m not really known for my optimism.
JW sitting for a while is not the end of the season. He starts slow, overthrows and gets over anxious.
Fitz is no world beater but he seems to have a calming effect on the offense and with the addition of a hopefully good RB we should be ok/good.
Use our top tier TEs Dirk!!!

On the defensive side of the ball I expect the DL to play like mad dogs or suffer the wrath of Buckner.
The DL is the real key to righting the ship until we see where the chips fall with Fitz and the Soiled Messiah.

  40. Dooshlarue Says:

Good point Steve, but Jameis still seems to think his sh!t don’t stink.

And really……… that dookie be nasty.

  41. Tattoodonny Says:

See ya dude. You don’t wanna be a fan GOOD. Wonder how many Steelers fans haven’t yet enjoyed 2 super bowls over their QB? How many Failcon fans left over the dog killer? This guy screwed up after his rookie season, but he didn’t continue touching her, she didn’t call cops. Good bye you non fan!!!

  42. WillieG Says:

The turd Stevens only touched the ball a few times per game. I hated that he was on the team, but I could cheer for everyone else and not cheer when turd Stevens made a good play.

It’s different when it’s the QB. He touches the ball every offensive play. Every great pass will be present a dilemma for fans. Do we cheer anyway and tell ourselves we are cheering for the receiver? Or do we just say “screw it” and stop watching until JW is gone?

I’m in the wait “until JW” is gone camp.

  43. Mike Says:

I find all of it laughable!! I am not sure what could keep me from logging into joebucsfan every hour.

I guess since I have been a season ticket holder since 96 which is close to 97. I make a 2 hour drive to every game, go to road games, going to stick carrier takeover. I don’t really care about people who want to abondon MY team. This is all we have seen for 10 years!! Complaining!! Blah blah blah.

Let’s live in facts. Mike Evans in 5 years will be all-time buccaneer leading receiver!!! Jameis in 4 years with Bucs will end up being the ALL TIME leader in tds and passing yards. Jameis is a stud QB that had a disastrous defense. You really don’t think the defense not getting off the field didn’t effect the rhythm of the offense. Remember those game winning Td passes vs Buffalo, Carolina and gb that the defenses vomited up.. those weren’t any different then the game winner against k.c.. in just 3 years, Jameis is at the forefront of becoming the greatest buccaneer qb of all time and most of that has occurred after the incident. Unite the fan base!!

  44. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

you people sure like to toss the term Sexual Assualt around. When was he charged???? You snowflakes have already rendered the words racist and date rape meaningless with your baseless BS… So again, I ask when was he charged with Sexual Assualt.

  45. Dwe Says:

I’ve been a fan 21 years longer than Carlson. One man is not going to make me go away. Guess I’m telling my age lol. I don’t know what he did and no one else may know other than Winston and the uber driver. He says he was drunk. Who knows. He has to be smarter. If you want to get drunk, stay at home on your sofa and get drunker than cuda brown (whoever he is). He has got to be smarter on and off the field, period. Bottom line is he has to win games. If he does not, then he will be gone.
There is soooo much worse things people have been accused ofincluding past presidents of this great country. if there was evidence that he had done anything then he should be in jail. As an attorney I still believe in “you are innocent until proven guilty”. Where he messed up is not bringing the situation to the attention of the proper authorities. That was stupid and he has to stop being stupid on and off the field. If not he will be gone and I’ll be rooting for whoever takes his place and the Bucs

  46. Jeffbuc Says:

Hey nick why don’t you have some backbone and show some support. Because you don’t like him your done. You want the glazers to have a backbone and cut a guy because you don’t agree with something that isn’t even proven to have ever happened. Yeah they have a lot more invested than your little hissy fit buddy. They have millions of dollars invested in him already. Years of training and coaching in him. They have a first round pick invested in him. No back up plan behind him. You have sundays for three hours and your worthless comments in joe bucs fan invested. Easy for you to walk away. Because your not a real fan. No real fan is going to boycott a team over one player over something he has never been charged or convicted of. People saying they are embarrassed to wear there bucs clothes. Get out of here with that. Like people are going to think you did something. Wrong to because your wearing bucs gear. I wear my bucs shirts every day everywhere. Not one person has said a word to me except the nice shirt and go Bucs. And do you like there chances this year. So by Nicholas I’m sure you are the casual fan that doesn’t schedule his sundays around the bucs. If something comes up you go do it and check the score later. I bet you miss more games than you watch but you all of the sudden your voice matters. I’m taking my ball and going home because I don’t like jameis.

  47. Buchead5588 Says:

Support MYQB#3 who cares bout them fans bye Let’s go Jameis

  48. Jeffbuc Says:

Glazers know that people saying stuff like this are just casual fans. The real fans are going to support the team and if jameis is part of the team support jameis. Joe I don’t like that you even posted that tweet. I feel like that is a friend of yours or something. Giving the attention that he was seeking for posting that. Shame on you. I think I don’t like what you did so much that I’m going to give you an ultimatum joe. Delete the story or I will never visit joe bucs fan again. That is until we start winning and I will say joe bucs fan has been my favorite site for bucs news I have been going there since they started. I even advertised on his page 6 years ago. Then I will become your biggest supporter. And got to all your parties and stalk you and ask for autographs. And pat you on the back and tell you how I supported you the whole time.

  49. BucEmUp Says:

It would be so stupid to get rid of him. He learned, he has grown up. It was two years ago. Get rid of Mike Smith and win a super bowl already

  50. eric Says:

The hidden message is to put him in his place, especially if he doesn’t hUmble himself in front of the great white throne!

Jameis is not Austin Jenkins, but he will get out of Tampa like Jenkins and florish…you cannot stand your ground or kneel against violence or anything in Tampa.

You would think that he actually was caught like Ben doing much worst.

  56. Seminole Bill Says:

It doesn’t seem that Jameis really understands how badly he has let down his teammates, and the fans. This was supposed to be our year to make a run for the playoffs. 2016 and 2017 were the so-called re-building years; 2018 was the year we were to make our breakout. Now, with our QB suspended, it will be difficult to see the Bucs any better than 3-13, at best.

  57. Lokog Says:

Im not talkjng to the REAL FANS of this team.

  58. BucdUp Says:

KEEP JAMEIS! KEEP THE STICK CARRIERS! GET RID OF THE FAKE FANS!!

  59. Fire the glazers Says:

Hey Joe, this will be my last post as well…
I too have rooted for the Bucs for over 20 years, and unfortunately I cannot , being a victim of sexual abuse myself, stand for Jameis.
To the other fans on here, I have to admire how hardcore some of you are. We may not agree on this issue, but I think it’s awesome you can look past it and still enjoy it.
Just trust me though, some people who are mad at Jameis and the glazers have been on the side of the victim.
The issue isn’t black and white, and right now, I’m thinking my time and efforts can be used elsewhere.
    So long Joe…
Maybe I’ll be back when the glazers really do get fired (lol)
And please out of respect, please don’t respond to my post. I won’t be back to read it anyway. But I shared what I did so some of you could have some perspective.
    Thank you for the laughs.

  60. BucdUp Says:

Seminole bill is a fake fan! Every year previous they have hyped up to be “our” year! Yet real fans stuck through. Now one person in Arizona is dividing our whole fan base!?!? CMON BUCS FANS, CMON STICK CARRIERS!! Get behind your Bucs and root for EVERYONE on the roster!

  61. BucfanBF Says:

A lot of you are nothing but fair weather fans! It is quite sad. How many other teams stood by a player who did much worse such as Big Ben yet the majority of the fans stood fast.
I support the Bucs decision to keep Jameis if he stop with the off the field nonsense and becomes the QB that we all hoped for. I think he can be and showed flashes of it last year. The kid is still just that “A Kid” yet many of you are ready to lynch him to the closest and tallest tree. How many things we did that we aren’t proud of if we opened our closet doors. What happened to the people in this country when people over react like many of you are right now?
We don’t need you as Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans!!!!
I support the other 51 players not counting the practice squad players who are playing with heart and passion. Why should we abandon them when they have done nothing but show up and practice for us the fans and hopefully win on Sundays.
    You should all be ashamed!!!
    Go Bucs!!!!!!!

  62. stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Joe

An area to explore. IMHO the Glazers DO know a lot more than we do about the number of Nicholas Carlson’s out there.

It’s not that expensive to commission a secret poll that surveys how the fans actually feel. It could also determine the depth of feeling or passion behind those feelings. And perhaps there could even be reasons for those feelings from the respondents.

I do not hate Jameis…contrary to popular opinion…when he lost my trust I stopped even caring whether he groped or raped or not. I no longer care.
I simply do not trust his judgement on or off the field. I admire his talent and ability but not what he’s done with it. Gotta give him a National College Title…he’ll always have that…and he’s a young man if the Bucs do not give him a chance someone will.

Meanwhile…again it’s just bizness guys! And how many of you love the Bucs more than your career…more than your family…that’s where the Glazers are…may love the Bucs but they are charged with taking care of business…it’s their jobs and their family fortune depends on it.

  63. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    BucfanBF

the glazers are the only ones who should be ashamed they have fileded a complete and total embarrassment of a product for nearly 2 decades.

  64. Mort Says:

Why would the glazers cut Jameis? They had fundraisers for the doofus in the White House after he admitted he grabbed women by the …well, you know the rest. They literally helped gather up money to advance the political career of the Grabber-in-chief.

It would be a tad hypocritical for them to then fire their quarterback who did the same thing – once, while jntoxicated – now wouldn’t it? Only one of them apologized at all, btw.

  65. BucdUp Says:

    BucsfanBF

Yet he cheered for the team with Michael Pittman on it who had multiple domestic violence issues, and Jermery Stevens who had some serious issues, Vincent Jackson who had DUI’s, or Aquib Talib who shot at his sisters boyfriend and shot himself. All that was ok but someone getting suspended for something with no proof or arrest record is just to much. This is what media does they form opinions for the weak. Simply put if this is causing anyone to leave the Bucs as a fan then they should have left long ago based on multiple players but now it’s a big deal cause the media tells them it is. Why wasn’t it a big deal with all those other players? Ridiculous simply ridiculous.

  70. BigMacAttack Says:

At this point I could care less what Jameis did or didn’t do. I don’t care about his tweet. I’m sick of reading about it. I’m ready for football and some big wins. I’m just over the whole thing.

  71. Dirty Bucs Says:

I simply cannot understand how more people don’t have a high level of disdain for Jameis. Every year I’m here, watching and reading, following the stories, paying attention to all of the transactions. I haven’t done that this year. Of course I have a general idea of what’s going on, but my level of commitment just isn’t there anymore. Winston is the worst kind of problem to have, and it’s extremely unfortunate for that to be the case.

We are wasting the talents of good players, because we cannot find the right QB. I’ve always been hopeful, sometimes optimistic, but the truth is I’m just checked out this year. I need to see something different to reengage.

  72. BrianBucs Says:

    JOE

This shouldn’t be a shocker to you at all. You two guys don’t seem to have your heads in the sand or live in Fantasyland. There are thousands upon thousands of fans that feel.this exact way. Devoted and long time loyal Bucs fans now feel insulted, disrespected and humiliated that the Bucs still have somebody like Winston on their roster, especially the starting QB and face of their franchise.
The Glazers will be surprised how many more empty seats will be at RayJay next season. A very large portion of the Bucs fan base actually feel betrayed as it shows their devotion to the team means absolutely nothing to the Glazers.
The true, devoted long term fans deserve better.

  73. Buc1987 Says:

All the “Carlson’s” posting on this site need to stop following the Bucs until Winston’s gone. That would make ME a happy fan. BE a Carlson then.

  74. Capt. Blighe Says:

He’s going to play somewhere, but he don’t have to play here. I will watch but I will not be a fan of his and would never wear my 3 jersey anymore. I expect if he is real low key “no eating W’s” type incidents and plays very well like playoff good. They might keep him. If he plays average like he has so far. He will be gone at the end of the year. Along with Licht and Koetter.

  75. nano107 Says:

    Mr Irrelevant has spoken
    He was never charged
Remember Big Ben and he matured
Not defending but this thing we have to expect players to act like role models is flawed
Nobody cares he’ll do his time and move on

  76. Skipper Says:

Joe, I don’t post here often but I am an everyday reader. I am dead tired of the non-stop negative press towards Winston. He screwed up and is paying a price for it, enough already. I thought he handled himself well today in his press conference under the Circumstances. I don’t give a rats ass about Nick Carlson, if his skin is that thin then I doubt he was really much of a fan to begin with. Perhaps Nick did not pay attention to the many good deeds Mr. Winston has provided the TampaBay community.

  77. Joe Says:

    Skipper:

Joe is not the one who has written stories to run Jameis out of town. Quite the contrary in fact.

As far as not writing about Jameis, for the time being, this may be the biggest Bucs story since Chucky was fired, perhaps since the Super Bowl win.

Jameis’ suspension casts a pall over this entire team. Bucs will be without their starting quarterback, potential star quarterback, when they need him the most which could torpedo the season.

Not sure how Joe can ignore that.

  78. Buc1987 Says:

Put up or shut up. It’s that simple. Truth is Carlson is full of shyte and so are the rest of you “fans” that have just about had it up to here with JW and all his nonsense…..wait all his nonsense? What nonsense has Jameis done compared to the nonsense our team has put out on the field the last 15 years? Groped an Uber driver and then lied about it? Is there more? Cause I’m a Bucs fan surely he pistol whipped a cabby or something….I support what ever the Bucs do.My HOPE is they are tired of losing and he stays.

  79. Pickgrin Says:

To all who are choosing to be so judgmental of Winston’s situation (from 2 1/2 years ago) – that you no longer wish to support the team – SEE YA!

  80. gp Says:

    Been a fan since 76
    Never bought a ticket
    Never bought a jersey
Never missed a game, either on TV or radio , every one

Now I’m thinking of buying a Jameis Jersey and at least a couple of game tickets just to hack off the uber-leftists out there

  81. Maze Says:

When Winston finally gets chance he’d better perform or this guy’s got to go

  82. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

$20 to the first person that gets me a picture of this Nicholas Carlson watching a game this year. If the Bucs win you will watch. If you are a true Bucs fan you will not be able to resist.

  83. Kobe Faker Says:

“Where is Forrest Gump? As owners, the Glazers are not required to say anything. The leader and top dog of the organization is Gump. The highly paid GMs job is to give details, information and direction of the present and future of this franchise….

    Where is Forrest Gump?”

    Kobe Faker

  84. Eric Reyes Says:

    Eric Carlson

  85. Eric Reyes Says:

I am a diehard fan that loves my team. I go to multiple Buc sites everyday to see what’ s going on with my team. I can tell you our starters at every position including our backups. My wife thinks I am obsessed…. Even when I knew Winston was our pick and I hated the idea of him being our QB I still remained just as much of a fan. But now I can’ even get myself to put on one of my many Buc shirts or hats because of the shame I feel putting on a shirt for a team that allows an guy like him to remain on the roster. I will watch the first three games but if WSinston is back to being our starter then I will boycott the season. I will find another team that has more decency and a team I can be proud to root for. That is how strong I feel about having someone the NFL labeled as a sexual offender as the leader of my team.
The ball is in your court Glazer family, do you want to alienate a good portion of your loyal die hard fans for a guy who didn’t show an ounce of respect to you or anyone else in your organization? If it was me I would trade him in a flash just for lying alone. Before you make your bed Glazers, remember you have to sleep in it.

  86. D1 Says:

    Eric,

If you’ve been proudly wearing buc team merchandise during say the last decade
I have to ask the question. Why?

Seriously, how could you have been proudly sporting a Freeman Jersey? The total and repeated cluster mucks that have kept this franchise swirling around the bottom of league haven’t phased you but the QB makes a drunken pass, which allegedly was rejected without further incident, fails miserably and is left choking down some late night taco’ s. a couple years later leftist activists/actors in Hollywood band together to form a mob of to burn their own industry because they traded favors for success and now regret it. The spotlight on the crowd is great and a uber driver sitting at home watching the golden globe awards says I can be part of the activists and change the world. Next day….JW is reported along with al Franken . This is more than you can stomach and your dignity is in jeopardy …………you’ve been shamed into abandoning your team. Not by the losing, incompetence, impotence of this dreadful franchise but by the actions of the QB and the opinions of the Hollywood horez who have sold their kidneys for fame…..ok

But what about that Babylonian den of shame that stains the entire city of Tampa.
Ybor city must be made a target for your screaming estrogen levels. Any Fri and Sat nite JW like peeps will be drinking to access, grouping women …failing and looking for something comforting in a fried corn shell stuffed with beans, beef and hot sauce. Just like Winston..

Burn’em down eric ……burn’em straight to heltown.

  87. feelthepewterpower Says:

    Good riddance

  88. feelthepewterpower Says:

1997, too, when the Buccs started their run of glory runs. Guy has been through a lot with this team, not. He’ll be back on the wagon once the Buccs are in the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl under Winston.

  89. LOL Says:

Good Riddance!!!!!! Like none of you guys making these comments participated in activities back in the days @ that age that in today’s times might look bad in the public eye! FOH!!!! HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  90. old time buc Says:

Joe you asked or wondered how many fans were like NC. Well from talking with area residents (not posters on this site) there are a boat load of them. Everyday I hear similar comments from people in the working class, and from owners of local businesses. I work in the construction field and and am in contact with at 100 people everyday and these are different people daily.
There is a prevailing attitude that if I ran my business the way the Bucs do I wouldn’t have a business left.
They of course will do what they want but I’m just saying.

  91. 1sparkybuc Says:

If an attempted grope is all it takes to make you abandon the team, you weren’t much of a fan to begin with. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass.

  92. 1sparkybuc Says:

    Fan since 1975.

  93. Bucsfanman Says:

Nole4Jaboo- I’m so happy to have a female perspective on this issue. The hypocrisy of it all is mind-blowing! The way people have reacted, you would think that he had killed somebody!
The utterly sad part about it Nole4 is that this state, in general, is well known for its stupidity and ignorance. Watch any “Cops” show, any “Ridiculousness”, heck, any national news show, Florida is always well-represented! Consider that we elected, then re-elected a man whose resume includes the largest known case of Medicare fraud in the history of our country to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars, BILLIONS! He’s running for Senate BTW!!!
No, I’m not surprised by the hypocrisy.
As to being a fan, I will always be a fan. I won’t burn jerseys (How stupid is that?!) or refuse to watch games because of ONE player. Frankly, I don’t care! Why?! Because the Bucs, Jameis, or anyone else at One Buc don’t put food on my table nor pay my bills. It’s entertainment, plain and simple. If it bothers people THAT much stop watching. It’s not worth my emotional well-being to be that serious about a game, football.
If you’re still mad, you’ve been mad, and will most likely stay mad! All I can say to those people is I feel sorry for you.

  94. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Fire the glazers Says
“Hey Joe, this will be my last post as well…”

    Translation:
“Time to create yet another username!”

  95. Bucsfanman Says:

    ^^^LMAO!!! Only because it’s TRUE!!!!!!

  96. Pryda... sec147 Says:

THE WHOLE STORY STINKs shouldn’t even be suspended Go Bucs And GO Jameis

  97. Rashad Brown Says:

Die hard bucs fans don’t jump ship when troubles are beset. They see it through !!!

  98. Aaron May Says:

I personally think JW has turned the corner with his off-field issues and he will continue to improve in that area as he matures. I’m more concerned with his on-field play. I’ve made countless excuses for his bad-decision making but its on him now…I’m rooting for him to turn all of this around!

    Go Bucs!

  99. Walter Seidel Says:

The common theme here is that many of us just want to PUKE at the thought of cheering on a deplorable, somewhat unapologetic sexual assaulter (among other BAD transgressions). And on the other side, you have the TRUE HATERS….they HATE on anyone that believes the Bucs will be a better TEAM without Winston, and the fan base will be reunited. Unless, of course, all of you Sexual Assaulter Supporters will abandon the Bucs if they cut ties with Winston?

  100. Buc1987 Says:

Walter….BE a Carlson and just stay away from MY team. Like you stayed away from this site for all these years prior to the uber BS.

  101. Buc1987 Says:

    Take Pete too!

  102. DBS Says:

87 your stomach is going to give you more problems. Thought you left?

  103. Walter Seidel Says:

Buc1987, I didn’t realize you were one of the Glazers. And trust me….former fans (like Carlson, who Joe obviously respects) ARE staying away. We WANT to come back. And we will. Soon. Watch.

  104. Buc1987 Says:

Walter you’re NOT staying away…you’re posting on JBF every day!

If I saw you on the street….I’d have to grope you without remorse!

  105. Walter Seidel Says:

I was a season ticket holder for 12 years. Section 133. Row P. Stopped going after the 2015 draft. Been offered free tickets a few times….no thanks. I want MY Bucs back…..not this ridiculous drama crap caused by Mr. Winston. Bucs talk = Winston talk. Not football. It’s inescapable. So no, I will NOT stay away from voicing the predominant opinion of Tampa Bay football fans, but I wll NOT spend a dime on supporting them until changes are made.

BTW, making sexual assault jokes is not funny at all.

  106. Willy D Buc Says:

It’s sad that a man is presumed guilty with no proof in this day and age in the U. S. A. Has the population become that small-minded and IQ challenged?
For the record, I was in the “draft Mariotta” camp, but this allegation and NFL suspension stink to me.
I wonder how much she and her lawyer banked? I’ll bet she doesn’t have to drive for Uber ever again..

  107. Walter Seidel Says:

…….and the splintered fan base continues thanks to Winston.

  108. Buc1987 Says:

    Walter…groping…..it’s very funny to me.

“predominant opinion of Tampa Bay football fans”

If there was THAT much outrage…there would be more than a few Walter’s and Pete’s on this site. Sexual assault? YOU weren’t EVEN there. making a grop joke isn’t funny? I guess it depends on who hears it. I honestly work with a chick that slaps and pinches everyone’s ass on a daily basis. You couldn’t work there.

“not this ridiculous drama crap caused by Mr. Winston”

    Says the drama-queen.

I also like what you said at the top to Joe…

    “Money talks. Glazers listen.”

This MORE than proves you’re NOT a Bucs fan imo. You sat 12 years in OUR stadium and not once noticed how little the Glazers care about money….
Do you know how many head coaches they’ve paid MILLIONS to even while they were no longer coaching the team…hell they extended Gruden’s contract and then fired him….You’re like GLASS!

  109. Pickgrin Says:

I’m betting Walter’s closet has more skeletons in it than the average bear’s…

  110. Walter Seidel Says:

And you continue to prove my points. Thank you. And now ya’ll are making it personal. Classy. Attack the fans that care. Nice. I won’t stoop to that level. It’s all yours.

  111. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Suggestion to Jameis haters:
Show your protest at next Bucs game that Jameis starts by wearing a Kittykat hat

  112. Pickgrin Says:

You’ve been making it “personal” in your character attacks on Winston for the last 4 weeks Walter. A true internet justice warrior. Who doesn’t like it one bit when identified as a raging hypocrite. Sorry dude – you reap what you sow.
    Carry On…

  113. Walter Seidel Says:

Winston is the public figure. He’s fair game. So you’re wrong. Again. And once again, you resort to making it personal with fans that disagree on this subject. And again, I won’t stoop. Again, it’s all yours. Enjoy.

  114. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

Boycotts dont work & You fair-weather fans are a joke.

    Gtfo buttlickers 😉

  115. Willy D Buc Says:

What kind of fan wants to ruin the career of their team’s franchise player over an allegation? SMDH

  116. Baz Says:

I identify 100% with Nicholas. I have loved my Buccaneers since 1977 when I turned 5, and have seen decades of crap until finally we emerged relevant in 1997, or even late 1996. I remember being stationed in Korea when the Steelers called us “paper champions” and whipped us in 2002, but we emerged from the cocoon when Ronde intercepted McNabb. I was at work in the hangar but we had a TV on, and I almost jumped so much in joy I about broke our 2nd floor flooring.

I’m normally checking this site 50-100 times a day, especially when camp starts, and pouring over every article. But the reticence to cut a QB who (under heavy suspicion) eluded an arrest in college, and now had this latest incident (yes it was 2 years ago, but he’s still an adult… when I was 21-23 years old, I was stationed overseas, not groping women) is just another example of not his immaturity but his problem with respecting women and not assuming he can do as he wishes, whenever he wishes.

I maybe visit the site 1-2 times a week, and don’t usually click on the articles, nor have I listened to the podcasts. I can’t support a team (a league?) where abusers are actively promoted, men who are trying to make a difference are denigrated, and “leaders” aren’t real leaders.
