Will Fans See The Detailed Explanation?

June 28th, 2018

Mike Florio of NBC Sports explains

Super NFL insider and former practicing attorney Mike Florio of NBC Sports and ProFootballTalk.com notes that the NFL is missing an important layer of transparency when it comes to the suspension announcement of Jameis Winston today.

And yes, Florio knows the NFL issued a statement as to why it is sitting America’s Quarterback for three games to start the 2019 season.

You can read Florio’s full story here, but here’s a key excerpt:

So where is the letter that the league sent to Winston explaining the basis for the punishment? You know, the multi-page letter outlining everything he did wrong, signed by an NFL executive?

Last August, Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott received a six-page letter chronicling his alleged misdeeds, and it was quickly made available to the media. As part of the league’s P.R. blitz, one of the members of the league’s external expert advisory panel was made available on a conference call to discuss the allegations and the investigation.

In Winston’s case, no letter has been issued or leaked, and no conference calls to discuss the details have been scheduled. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in response to the question of whether the letter will be released, “I don’t think so.”

So what’s going on here? The explanation may be simple, and obvious. This is the first NFL player suspension for sexual misconduct in the #MeToo era, and the league, the Buccaneers, and Winston realize that a detailed letter like the one Elliott received could like a fuse that blows up Winston’s entire career.

Hopefully, the league’s official letter to Jameis finds its way to the public eye. Joe would argue the fans being asked to support Jameis deserve to see it — to get a better sense of whether Jameis is getting railroaded by the NFL or is guilty of the inappropriate sexual touching he’s accused of.

  1. Dewey Selmon Says:

He’s getting a pass, he gets to blame it on alcohol, the NFL wants this to go away and they struck a deal.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    “Dear Jameis,
You were a very bad boy (we think)…..take this 3 game suspension and lose perhaps 10s of millions in salary and endorsements and don’t complain. We don’t really have absolute proof of what happened but you were drunk and hanging around with the wrong crowd. Don’t do that again, Son. Enjoy your three weeks off….I understand the fishing is great in September in Tampa.”
    Regards,
    Roger

  3. Jim Says:

Apparently football has been reduced to a game called “Protecting Winston”.

  4. Anonymous Says:

The dude accepted the suspension and agreed to undergo clinical evaluations. He issued an apology. He’s guilty. He know it and we know it. Anybody feeling a need to read detailed info about it is just obsessing.

As Winston said in his statement, he’s looking forward to moving on from this. Question is can the fans/team? My opinion, what he did is not unforgivable.

  5. Pryda... sec147 Says:

Just win. We still gonna go crazy for training camp takeover we still gonna be heard in the dome in a sea of red but just win Jameis

  6. Bird Says:

    You won’t see it

Part of the 6 to 3 game plea deal with NFL. Jameis wouldn’t appeal and nfl would reduce to 3 games and leave response more generic in nature. No juicy details.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Not Unforgivable…….good point.

  8. Frank J Reichert III Says:

I will support Jameis until I see he did something wrong. Hitting on a chick and getting shut down isn’t a crime. If she said No and he stopped then I don’t see a issue here. Just the pussification of Merica as usual.

  9. Sc Bucs fan Says:

Hello? You think JW wants the details of this and any other incidents released? In Jaboo terms, keep moving, nothing to see here.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The silence from this point on from the NFL, Jameis & Bucs is going to absolutely drive the media nuts….and many fans…

My prediction….you heard it here first….this article is the first of many on this subject.

  11. DB55 Says:

    Moral of the story:

Be an nfl owner that way you can harass and discriminate and make 2.2 billion from selling the team after paying at 2.75 million dollar fine.

    Different strokes for different folks.

  12. Dewey Selmon Says:

“America’s Groper” is on a 13 game tryout. And if he does well we get him at a discount.

  13. JMan 5 Says:

It’s reasonable to say that Bucs fans deserve to see the letter or can assume the worst with Winston.

  14. Oxycondoms Says:

    America’s groper

  15. D-Rome Says:

I don’t need to see a detailed explanation. The victim has been through enough. The NFL was crystal clear. Jameis admitted guilt. We don’t need anything else.

  16. Jjones Says:

What’s very telling about this whole situation is that he will banned if there’s another incident. Zeke was suspended for 6 games but wasn’t presented with a zero tolerance option if it happens again, that I know of. Regardless, it says a lot about what they found and why Jameis isn’t appealing.

  17. lightningbuc Says:

You might be a Nole Redneck….if you continue to make excuses and blame others for Odessa’s Groper.

  18. unbelievable Says:

America in 2018: Where people hold a 22-year old football player to higher standards than the “leader” of our country…

Are we great again yet? Asking for a friend…

  19. Bird Says:

Pattern of bad behavior. Espn ripping Jameis right now.

Again , it was 6 games . Jameis camp negotiated down to 3. So people saying 3 games proves it was nothing are wrong. It was 6 games Next mess up is a year or possible indefinite I feel relates to another sex charge.

    Americas train wreck.

I would like to add that Joe’s street cred non-existent. Was huge on Johnny football Still huge on Jameis cause he moves the needle

  20. Crazed Bucs Fan Says:

Maybe Jameis should have been a porn star. Better decisions Jameis, on and off the field. We believe in you bro!!!

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Listen….I don’t accuse Jameis of anything not proven…..but.

To try to excuse him because the President brags about groping…..I guess we would have to excuse everybody..
Did executives get a pass on sexual harassment in the workplace because of Bill Clinton’s behavior…..no, and they shouldn’t.

No excuses for bad behavior no matter where it comes from or who engages in it.

  22. Dewey Selmon Says:

From crab legs to grab legs, “America’s Groper” is getting a slap on the wrist as to what could of happened. If he as much sneezes wrong he could be out 1 year. And the Glazers are supposed to give him how much?

  23. jerseybuc Says:

Remember last year’s 3 game suspension of our “star” running back? And here we go again…

Apparently it caught the ownership and management of the Bucs off guard as we were short on RB talent, didn’t draft a young back and a promising season went up in flames. No contingency plan to draft a young running back, we had 22. One player’s selfishness put us in a hole, and it wasn’t the first time.

We learned nothing from last year I guess, as we are once again caught flat footed when our star QB just let his entire team down. We roll with Fitz when 3 playoff teams open the season vs our beloved Bucs this year. No plan B once again.
So we are now left with deciding on our star QBs future based on a 13 game season that looks like it may be a repeat of last year. My biggest criticism of JW is that he makes bad decisions. On and off the field. And I don’t see it changing anytime soon. $100 million contract certainly ain’t gonna help him change his ways.
How can you trust Winston at this point. That decision will likely be made after this season, a season that appears to be headed in the wrong direction at this point. If he doesn’t show marked improvement, he doesn’t lead us to a winning season, I am done.
You miss on the first overall pick in the draft it usually costs you 5 to 10 years. We are at a crossroads. He better come out smoking or he may be looking for a new team soon. Time to put up 3!

  24. Season Is Over Says:

I don’t need to see the explanation. This team has had players walk all over them since Gruden left. It is time to put the foot down and set an example that this is a class organization. There is simply no way that the team allows Winston to come back in week 4 like nothing happened. This situation is crucial in Koetter getting the team back. The team doing nothing is just another reason why free-agents come here to retire. There must be a level of respect and accountability followed by the whole organization. This starts at the top. Suspend Winston for at least half the season or more. I bet that loss of pay will make him understand the situation.

  25. Sweeptheleg Says:

Of course one of you idiots would somehow work in a jab at trump.

    You people are pathetic.

    #stillgonnabeyourpresident
    #todaytomorrowandthenextday
    #getoverit.

    @unbelievable
    Unbelievably stupid

  26. Durango 95 Says:

I have yet to see anything from the league that would substantiate the driver’s claims that Jameis groped her.

  27. Sailor Jerry Says:

If part of the suspension requires clinical evaluations could some of the details be protected under HIPAA?

  28. Sweeptheleg Says:

You people acting like you’re owed an explanation lmao.

Idiots. Does it matter? He’s gone for 3 games no matter what any of you think.
You’re all just looking for a new way to defend him. Plain and simple.

  29. BucThis Says:

Call me crazy but I don’t think he did it.

Winston has a bad rep because of his days at FSU and I think it possibly made him a target.

NFL and Winston pay “Kate” with a non-disclosure.

Winston takes the deal because A.) of his history B.) Because of the dumbass position he put himself in and C.) Who would we really believe when it comes down to he said-she said?

I mean just look at the commenters on this site. Not to mention the absolute PR nightmare if Jameis did want to appeal and the Bucs backed him up. Both the NFL and mostly likely the Bucs organization brokered a deal with Winston. Take the 3 game suspension, play out your 5th year option and we will take about a longer term deal afterwards.

  30. Joe Blahak Says:

Are you all deranged…read Winston’s statement…he did it…all speculation should be non existent…the story’s over…move on from this, yet another, Buc disaster…Glazers need to cut the cord

  31. Dooshlarue Says:

Jameis needs to go away asap.

    He will F up again.
He will get booted from the NFL.

But guess what, he doesn’t care.
    Why?

Because he has a good shot at making it in MLB as a 25-26 year old pitcher.
An easy career for someone who obviously doesn’t care about being an NFL QB..

  32. Joe Blahak Says:

Yeah, go play baseball…save us all from further misery

  33. Destinjohnny Says:

Ya Winston was framed yet again Just like in college…..

    Bum rap yet again……

  34. Frank Pillow Says:

Of course we need an explaination. Details matter. The caliber of the witnesses and the physical/technical evidence matters. The timeline matters. The extent of Jameis’ actions (including the assault and crafting of an alibi) matter. He is a #1 overall pick and marketed face of the franchise. Whether or not he has a viable future here hinges on the extent of his actions and his intentions.

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

This isn’t about the fans. This is about the media, reporters, and bloggers getting access to more information.

Personally, the details do not matter to me…unless he refused to remove his hand. That would make it assault.

  36. Durango 95 Says:

Ira asked why would Jameis apologize to the driver. Seemed pretty clear to me in jameis’s statement he was referring to alcohol. He damn sure wasn’t referring to groping. Why admit to something he’s already said he didn’t do.

  37. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Who cares any more sos ! Cut him, move the team to Canada I’ll just be rooting for my fantasy football team this year at least they make the playoffs…

  38. Maze Says:

Hopefully no drunk guy sexually assaults any of these apologists daughters

  39. Joe Blahak Says:

@Durango 95….duh, he lied about it the first time…lies upon lies….you want this bum leading your team?

  40. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I wish Joe would explain why he insists on using “America’s Quarterback” when so many people are offended with this title. If I was a women and reading articles talking about a sexual assault, I would be offended to see this nickname used so freely.

I think it would be in your best interest to put aside this title until Jameis proves himself to be a better citizen. There seems to be a pride issue here Joe. Give it up.

  41. Durango 95 Says:

Where is this supposed victim? There seems to be a lot of message board hate spewers that think anything she says is beyond reproach.

  42. Jjones Says:

Taking it upon yourself to grope someone’s genitals without their permission is an ASSAULT Bonzai.

This isn’t just about Jameis, hes a public figure and his job effects many others lives including his teammates.

Details matter because we obviously cant take his word, hes a liar.

  43. BucdUp Says:

    @jjones

Please tell the POTUS the same. Hold him to the same standard..

  44. Duke Says:

    Durango……..

Duh!!!! ‘re read the article above again and again….the explanation is there.
Or being that there’s a group of deniers and the world is unfair because this guy got that and jw gets……..that thought process is one of child..Or leftie…same difference.. So Durango should the NFL lay all its cards on the table to satisfy your ignorance and simultaneously burn JW to the point He is as toxic as kap.
    Great idea JW discipline…..

Read what sources they used….any sharp atty and csi Miami binge watcher can see that the incident has video audio evidence. But too stupid deniers can’t go 2+x=4 without questioning whether 2 is actually the answer or if 4 is racist.
Stupid..yep…. I want Glazers to support JW 1000% and call attention to the game changer that progressives have slipped into our drink..why because they always want to phuc you….the no means no.campaign of the 1990’s leftist just got replaced with non verbal zero tolerance men are ra-ist stereotypes that makes all men and all women the same. Remember that some tofu eating hemp shirted sandal wearing 50yr old tells you tolerance is the answer. When everyone is same…tolerance is no longer required. Men and women just took a step closer to that goal…without a non intellectual progressive ever noticing.
Metoo and the left’s culture of shape just got your boy and you tards keep thinking trump..trump…what utter robots…non thinking entities..programmable dolts..

It’s not trump that just bent JW over and made jail house love to him. It’s your own peeps…..good gosh….No wonder when progressives take over a country the first thing they do is shoot the zombies and flag bearers…..Heck, that’s a good reason to vote leftist come to think of it……

Never mind…I was completely wrong..carry on red diaper warriors…damn easy being a parrot now I can focus on moral degrediation of nations youth….seems to be a good crowd there already….

  45. lightningbuc Says:

There seems to be a lot of message board Jaboo nut huggers that think anything he says (and does) is beyond reproach.

  46. D-Rome Says:

Taking it upon yourself to grope someone’s genitals without their permission is an ASSAULT Bonzai.

Not in his world view. Quite concerning if you ask me…

  47. Duke Says:

    DB55

    Owner vs employee…..
Hummmmmmm is it that hard to see the difference..
Fair….is for Santa Claus and riots……not much else.

    Unicorns….vs…..Dutch warm bloods.

    Same or different…….

  48. Lamarcus Says:

I don’t think he did it either

  49. Duke Says:

That’s a real question used to evaluate the progress of bay area Jr high school kids……

  50. JMan 5 Says:

    Of course you don’t lamarcus

  51. Durango 95 Says:

Seven out of ten message board posters prefer their NFL discipline fact-free.

  52. SCBucsFan Says:

All of you who think he is innocent probably believe OJ too. Not OJ Howard.

  53. Joe Blahak Says:

And…his second chance was when he was drafted by the Bucs, after the college crap…He f’d that up…Good bye!

  54. BrianBucs Says:

I’m sure that part of the agreement in the negotiations and probably a settling point was for the NFL not to bring public all of the information that was discovered or uncovered during the investigation. Florio being an attorney should know that.
Legally it looks like Mr. Winston was very fortunate

  55. Duke Says:

    Frank,

Details kill JW’ s career plain and simple. Are you in that mode that a kid loses his career because of an activist campaign that assumes all men are assualters.
That society in the USA is a culture of cape. I m sorry but to burn an individual to advance a phuced up left-wing fantasy is just plain wrong.

Amazing how no one on the left understands the ideology driving these campaigns….just say..Fox news..Koch brothers…and leftie reacts like a dog seeing a squirrel…No offense to the k9 movements….

So the ? Is do you want to burn jameis because you’re fundamentally too stupid to understand how the league is saving JW and offering probation..or do say execute him so the anti death people have a fresh body to rallies the idiots.

  56. Dooshlarue Says:

    Awesome rant Duke!

  57. Lamarcus Says:

I think JW is being railroaded. Like the 6 game manadated rule for sex crimes. But gets 3? Kinda like he half way did it?

  58. Duke Says:

    Durango,

All the facts that are out go against JW. JW own statements and actions as a fact go against him…You think that the next piece of evidence or facts start going his way…….So far everything you have been using to defend him has been factually dismissed but hey there’s more hope in JW’ s innocence than there’s hope for a play off run this season. Now that’s f ing bizarre..

  59. Duke Says:

    Lamarcus,

Lol….yesterday’s second base is today’s 3 game suspension. Kinda cruel when you think about…

  60. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Duke these are inferred facts, not actual facts like you state.

If you have the actual facts, I would enjoy some enlightenment.

  61. mark2001 Says:

Second base? That is what you call grabbing a woman’s privates without the green light? I always heard it was sexual assault.

  62. Lamarcus Says:

Man. That statement of “JW”. NFL wrote that and made JW read it and all of part of the deal. It even sounds like NFL is apologizing. Not JW

  63. Gruden4President Says:

As much as I don’t like Winston and I wanted Mariota over Winston didn’t do anything Worse then Rothlesberger if the allegations are true. 2 we knew this kid had character issues and we drafted him anyways but also in his defense this was two years ago. He hasn’t had any issues since. Let’s hope with a new kid otw and being engaged he has matured and can get his accuracy and turnover issues under control. If Big Ben can get past his perverted ways why not JW? He’s our QB let’s rally around him cause I dunno about y’all but I’m sick of losing!

  64. Duke Says:

    Thank you Sir.
At the end of the day I hope everyone is a rabid fan. That means we have more in common than dividing us. The political stupidity heaped in bales by super clever and awesome original guy are divisive by design and frankly I love buc fans..but add politics and I just assume go Morgan and start clearing..

  65. Durango 95 Says:

@Alaska You’ll have to wait a few minutes while he pulls them out of his ass.He keeps a lot of stuff up there.

  66. mark2001 Says:

Duke…amazing you guys don’t get that Jameis made a deal…decided not to fight it. Lied about it. Wow…. you sound like the kind of guys that made Jameis think it was OK to assault women…don’t tell me…Duke is really Ronald Darby. Are the Eagles ready for a big year?

  67. Marc Says:

    America’s Groper

  68. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Duke this is why i can’t wait for the real action. When I can stand with my fellow brethren and just go nuts like i always do rooting for the team we love.
Time and Wins- the magic elixirs.
    Winning will bring us together.

  69. Lamarcus Says:

If I was JW I’ll would have appeal

  70. Duke Says:

    Alaskan,

JW is it a fact that you claimed to be w two others on the evening in question..to clarify you state you were never alone in the vehicle w the accuser?
    JW..yes he stated it.

NFL .com released evidence that phone forensics did not support the claims of the accused.

Additionally, the third passenger denies JW version of the events.
    Fact..

There’s two to get you started….but two refutes JW’s alibi…Fact.
That was a bonus fact. Granted there is inferred information that is like a crumb trail to the honey pot. Disclosing those crumbs is no accident and it is left to lead those who know how this works the information without burning JW by disclosing the details.

  71. Bird Says:

    Lamarcus

Dude. It was 6 games. Jameis camp negotiated to 3 (cut a deal) and would not appeal which brings bad press on the nf l. Don’t think cause it was 3 it was less severe.

  72. Bucnjim Says:

Hard to tell if the driver wanted to take it this far or was caught in the middle of the NFL investigation after word got out. Very very fine line without more specific details. I think everyone is picturing Winston just reaching over and grabbing her between the legs. Normally even with a complete dumb a$$ it doesn’t go that way. could have had his arm around her or on her leg. Might have tried to take it further only then was he shut down by taking it too far. There is a reason they call it 3rd base! Of course you can’t run from the batters box straight to third without being thrown out!

  73. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

What more do we need to see??? He did it, he lied, and then he gave a half-assed apology. He’s sorry alright, he’s sorry he got caught! He has had enough chances. He can tell another city’s young women to be “silent and polite”. He can go eat W’s for another team. I want nothing to do with him anymore. Ditch this clown, or I will not be watching the Bucs while he QB’s.

  74. Marc Says:

    AmericasGroper.com

  75. SB Says:

I hear Johnny Football is “humble” now and “belongs in the NFL”
Maybe we can make Joe Really happy.

  76. AlteredEgo Says:

There has always been a great debate among Buc fans about Jameis football abilities

Sad now we have to debate his character, honesty and trustworthiness

    Sad….sad….sad…

  77. DB55 Says:

He can go eat W’s for another team. I want nothing to do with him anymore. Ditch this clown, or I will not be watching the Bucs while he QB’s.
    ————–
    ALL OF THIS PLEASE!

I meet people like this irl and just laugh. Like go drink a natty lite and stfu, but wtfdik. Lmao

  78. Durango 95 Says:

Yet the league claimed the Uber driver’s account of the crotch grab was consistent and credible. Hmmm.

  79. Duke Says:

    Alaskan,

True and if you are a season tix holder, I’m not because I work in Arizona . Side note..I work w a Former Buc coach..Jets and espn vet..
And the most inspirational guy ever. I make it back after bowl season
..I hope that any disagreement with any fan can be trivialized and laughed at because winning as you stated brings communities and the diverse array of fans together… that is why I love this game..because of the power to bring people together…just takes winning.
I’m with you even if we disagree about the road…we both want to arrive at the same place..

  80. Roy T. Buford Says:

If JW and the Bucs and NFL all wanted to release it fine (but theuy won’t and shouldn’t), but I don’t agree fans “deserve” to see it anymore than a stranger deserves to see what any of us did or didn’t do that is a private matter. This is an employer-employee issue–the public gets what it gets. It’s not public record like a conviction is, and as Florio states, it is probably good for Jameis. I’d add it’s probably good for everyone, including the NFL’s image. From how Michael Jackson died to who A-Rod is dating, it may get out, but no one deserves diddly in my view.

  81. Duke Says:

    Mark,

I understand completely why he made a deal. Deals that offer probation in exchange for a plea are way more common than jury trials. Any lawyer worth his salt will seek to plea out vs spin the wheel and go to trial.

How you managed to twist and turn what I say into a false identity is more informative of how you perceive the situation it is to the truth.. But if you have the ability to present a better case than you made previously, I would certainly entertain such a case…

  82. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    Yes exactly Duke.
While I may disagree with people here (that’s life), I don’t mean anything or take anything personal, I enjoy the debate. I may call you an idiot on Saturday but ill buy you a beer and cheer for our Bucs on Sunday.

  83. Buc believer Says:

“Kate” will be laughing her ass off all the way to the bank. Athletes and men of means watch out how you approach a woman.

  84. Lamarcus Says:

Free 3pac!!! All eyez on him again.

  85. Joe Says:

Winston didn’t do anything Worse then Rothlesberger

    Ray Lewis, anyone?

  86. SB Says:

Pretty stupid to assume “Kate” wanted money. If she did she would have pressed charges and lawyered up the next day, not waited almost two yrs to get a lawyer.

  87. Defense Rules Says:

@BucThis … “Call me crazy but I don’t think he did it.” OK, you’re crazy. Would you cut a deal that’ll leave people seeing you as a sex predator if you were innocent? Would you surely give up millions upon millions of $$$ if you were innocent? Would you apologize to someone who falsely accused you if you knew you were innocent? Come on BucThis, get real.

Jameis has a problem and he knows it. Forget for a moment how he MIGHT perceive women (we won’t go there). Instead, focus on what looks to be a significant problem with alcohol, athough Jameis says he’s kicked it now. Add to that hanging with guys who always seem to have trouble following them around, and then it brushes off onto Jameis (or vice-versa, who knows). Then add to that lying … to everyone.

I personally think that Jameis took the deal so he could get help as much as anything. IF this behavior doesn’t repeat, and IF he plays REALLY well, he stands a good chance of surviving this as a player, either with the Bucs or with another team. Couple of big IF’s in there, but he gets help he’s got a decent chance of pulling it off IMO. Without it, chances are good this type of behavior would repeat. In any event though, people will never look at him the same. Not his coaches, not his fellow players, not fans, not media, and probably worst of all, not the kids.

  88. unbelievable Says:

Aw, sweeptheleg got his little feelings hurt.

    Poor guy.

Tell me then, why do we hold a 22 yr old athlete to higher standards?

  89. Duke Says:

    Mark,

Sorry I missed the other post. The 2nd base comment is a joke.
But it’s based upon the idea of a moving target.
The question is to you believe that communication between two people of the opposite sex is 100% accurate? Then the question is with science proving communication is up to 85% non verbal….isn’t it reasonable to assume to assume that the non verbal portion of human communication could be a factor in a misunderstanding of consent. I wonder how you can defend JW and not be aware of his possible defense……I am aware on one hand and can also find the other sides inherent strengths and weaknesses. Doesn’t mean I condone the behaviour or excuse it. Just means that I can entertain two opposing thoughts simultaneously without prejudice. The facts start to support one side or the other…that’s where I fall. Unfortunately, these ideas often cannot be so easy to discern for many. There’s a reason why everyone can’t be a lawyer and the world of lawyers is split into groups w success being intricately linked to this ability.

But I understand how you can extrapolate to a limited capacity. But respectfully I have no idea how you can perceive a different opinion at this point.

  90. lightningbuc Says:

So, dude “settled” out of court with his first accuser and now apologizes to his second accuser, and yet the Nole/Buc honks still believe this guy is being railroaded at every turn in his life. Football be very, very important to some.

    Jerry Richardson, anyone?

One of the most powerful owners in the league accused of harassing 4 women including the grabbing of said crotches. That’s between the times he’s calling people the n-word.

I thought the nfl made him sell the team, NOPE! After the Sports Illustrated investigative report spelled out all the evidence for the league they fined him a whooping 2.75 million dollars.

  92. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I am willing to concede that perhaps Jameis didn’t do this.
I am willing to forgive him if he did.
He may have tried to cover this up. That’s understandable given his past accusations.
I am willing to accept that.

It is highly unlikely that the Uber driver reported him for money….(I’ll have to see some evidence of that.

I am not willing to concede that Jameis has a problem with drinking and his
    choice of friends.

I do believe in 2nd chances….in this case many believe it is a 3rd chance.

I am very happy that it is only 3 games instead of 6.
I am also very happy that Jameis will receive help….forced or not.

I am looking forward to him returning to be our QB and hope he succeeds.

Now, if anyone thinks these things are unreasonable….GFU.

  93. Duke Says:

    Unbelievable,

There’s no we…..There’s his employer and the league that is responsible for any standard. Different standards are applied every day to many situations and people. Some strictly defined by a group some by experience others by nature of the job. To think for one second that different standards are somehow inherently evil or hypocritical simply because they use discrimination in defining the group is so simplistic a thought process and one that is instantly dissolved when it comes into the real world that it’s hard to imagine how anyone could actually offer up such fantasyland criticism as anything but satire. But I understand it happens too frequently and frankly it’s not a good thing for an adult to have and ultimately no free people can remain so when the numbers of child like thinkers reaches a certain tipping point. Save jameis save the USA

  94. Roy T. Buford Says:

@TBBF…I agree with everything you said, except the part that JW should return. You can forgive and help him with whatever his problem is (and I agree, don’t think it’s drinking…that seems like his own scapegoat), but that doesn’t mean you restore him to what he was–I don’t think he can be effective as a leader now…and I don’t think the Bucs needs this show played every single game. Put JW in the backseat this year, and evaluate then. Get him help. Bottom line is forgiveness doesn’t mean forget.

  95. Duke Says:

    Tbbf,

    Well said.

I hope JW can come to grips with the ten ton reality that just got dropped on him. It’s a lot at any age…I hope the glazers and the league really do everything to help him adjust to this new reality. Then we want and expect him to be great. It happens faster and easier if He accepts the need for change and pursues it like he does a 4th qtr come from behind score.
    He does…He will be fine.

He may have to deal with a few more issues that are team centered but if the team believes in family…they will get past these problems.

  96. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Roy

With other businesses and situations I would agree with you….but NFL is a bit different…..his teammates will be the first ones to forgive him….then his coaches….then his GM…..and then the fans will come last….but only if he wins.

My bet is he gets another shot….and if he does….and if you are a Buc fan you can’t for your team and and against your QB….that will be a real dilemma for many.

  97. Durango 95 Says:

So Duke I’m still waiting on this fact you claimed to have that Winston grabbed this women’s crotch.

*Stand by for the forthcoming word salad.

  98. SchlomieBarmitzahCircumScissorStein Says:

“’m sure that part of the agreement in the negotiations and probably a settling point was for the NFL not to bring public all of the information that was discovered or uncovered during the investigation.”……………The NFL does not want people to know the truth. $$$ is more important. Their B.S. about morals is pathetic.

  99. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Duke

I think what is lost on many fans is that Football players are human too…They are Sons, Brothers, Fathers, Husbands & Friends.

I hope Jameis gets his help and succeeds going forward…

Fans may not want him on the team anymore but they should forgive him as a person.

  100. stpetebucsfan Says:

    AThis is not rocket science.

Did the girl make any statement that turned out to be a lie. She said there was one person in the vehicle…Jameis and his posse at least part of it claimed there were three in the car. YES there were three in the Uber…the FIRST one that took the guys to the club. The second one that was driven by Kate was occupied by Jameis only. Once the NFL connected those dots this was over.

It’s no longer about #metoo or today’s morals or whether Jameis actually did it.
He LIED!!! Do you guys get this? This is a kid who made some of dumbest mistakes possible FHITP…what excuse is there for that. So the Bucs give him a HUGE break and sign him as number one wth the attendant millions and this jackwagon can’t even get through ONE off season without hanging with a convicted rapist and Darby who has his own reputation problems. I simply cannot believe the Bucs didn’t tell Jameis at his signing that this was VERBOTEN!

So he gets the big chance and how does he show his gratitude to the Bucs…US the fans…his teammates…by being a lying little dirty traitor.

Jameis Winston is dead to me. I do not dislike him….I pity him…he’s a sick puppy who is throwing away the most incredible opportunity he will ever see.

  101. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

Did they not forgive him the first time???? Did they not give him a clean slate????? Did they not give him a huge pass on past transgressions?????

Forgiving him as a person, does not mean he gets another chance to be the face of the Bucs, To be a leader of the Bucs!!!! It might just be time to find another QB that can be those things!!!!!!!

  102. The Buc Realist Says:

    @stpetebucsfan

Well said my friend!!!!!! And he never came clean until he was held dead to rights!!!!! I would have had more respect is if his statement came sooner!!!!! and apologize for painting a person that was trying to do a job in a bad light!!!!!

He was forced to come clean!!!!!! it was the lie!!!!! The cover-up!!!!! The Plea-deal!!!!!!!! and from word on the street, if the electronic evidence was released, he would no longer be welcome in the NFL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  103. Defense Rules Says:

@TBBF … “I am not willing to concede that Jameis has a problem with drinking and his choice of friends.”

@Jameis (his statement) … “In the past 2 1/2 years my life has been filled with experiences, opportunities and events that have helped me grow, mature and learn, including the fact that I have eliminated alcohol from my life.”

TBBF, you really don’t think that Jameis had a problem with drinking? Two and a half years would put it right after that incident, wouldn’t it? Jameis seems to think it was important to not only stop using alcohol, but to mention it in his recent statement about the NFL suspension. I for one hope that he has eliminated it from his life.

  104. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Defense

That was a misstatement…..what I meant to say was that I concede that he does have a problem….sorry ’bout that..

He absolutely has a problem with it.

  105. DB55 Says:

Okay so no one wants to touch Jerry Richardson getting a 2.75 million fine for doing the same thing to 4 different women. Okay! I see, and you ask why I hate most of you. Hypocrisy at its finest.

  106. Defense Rules Says:

@Realist … “and from word on the street, if the electronic evidence was released, he would no longer be welcome in the NFL!!!!!!!!!!!!” OK Realist, you’ve got my curiosity up. Any details or is this just one of those “I’d tell ya but I’d have to shoot ya” lines? And if it’s THAT damning, don’t the Glazers have a right to know? You make it sound like this whole sordid affair was FAR WORSE than what we’ve been led to believe (and that’s pretty ugly all by itself).

  107. DB55 Says:

    DR

I think realist is just trying to sound interesting.

  108. Kobe Faker Says:

    We need a poll!

Nick Foles trade for JW3 and a 1st round pick

    Yes or no

    * philly will later trade JW3 for a 3rd round pick

  109. DB55 Says:

    Kobe

Nick Foles won’t come here he said in an article today that he’d rather be a back-up than join a dysfunctional org.

  110. Eric Says:

David Duke just stfu! It’s people like you and Winston making this place a $hithole for once! Go watch your state sponsored television aka Fox and eat your TV dinner trash republican’t
    I hate people like you!

  111. SB Says:

I personally have never needed to grab a girl inappropriately. I have Game.
Guess JW’s 18 and 27 record speaks for itself in more ways than one.

  112. Kobe Faker Says:

    @DB55

    Really?

    5 year/100 mil ?

  113. Lamarcus Says:

    Kobe

Let it go. He ain’t going to Eagles. We ain’t getting Fools either

  114. BucEmUp Says:

I think it would be a mistake to cut Jameis right now. He will go.to a team that can cover a wr and win a superbowl

  115. RRSRQ Says:

No they don’t, we haven’t seen Trump taxes

  116. Danglin71 Says:

There’s so many strange things to this situation. On both sides, I really don’t know who to believe. Jamies and his stories? Or the Uber driver why did you not call the police after you dropped him off or kick him out of the car? Why did you wait that long to say something? It’s just baffling on both sides. I’ll be putting my #3 jersey in the closet for now and watching JW’s actions going forward. He’s suspended. But it’s just a wait and see. But the Bucs are still playing and I’m still supporting the TEAM! There’s more to a team than just 1 player.
