Chemistry

May 27th, 2018

So far, so good.

So a lot of Bucs fans wring their hands over a perceived lack of chemistry between America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, and speed merchant DeSean Jackson.

Well, Joe brings something to the table that may put these same folks at ease.

On his Instagram account, DeSean Jackson posted a Bucs video that sure looks like, at least for one play, both Jackson and Jameis are on the same page. Or at least closer than they were.

Joe has to give Jackson major props. He’s doing his part to fix whatever ailed the connection between the two. Jackson went to Tallahassee to work out with Jameis this offseason. And during the first week of OTA practices, there was Jackson.

So let this play below whet your appetite for many more Jameis-to-Jackson passes.

    Hilarious

I was expecting a long bomb. Maybe at least 40 yards.

Was that even 25 yards? That yardage is not the problem.

  2. Destinjohnny Says:

    I can hit that pass

  3. Cliff from lexington, KY Says:

Put D Jax in the slot and use Godwin on the outside. Give Jameis max protection i.e. best 5 lineman we have, maybe even go grab Incognito of the scrap heap and kick the tires. Who knows, the heat may help him play another year or two.

Make Hump earn it, and use our offensive weapons to their max potential.

D Jax needs to make some plays for us this year for us to go from worst to first

  4. AlteredEgo Says:

Deliver the ball on time and to the spot and everything will take care of it self….

  5. Buc4life Says:

Jameis and DeSean will be fine. Our offense should be very explosive and I expect to see Koetter moving DeSean around in the slot to make defenses more concerned, which will also open more lanes for RBs and TEs.

  6. Waterboy Says:

The positive for me is seeing Jackson and Winston both in OTA’s continuing to work on their timing.

  7. Darin Says:

    Cliff
Djax just isnt a slot receiver but I’m starting to think it might not be a bad idea to have him there. As far as Incognito, you must have missed the reports he was just Baker Acted at a gym in Fl. He thought the govt was following him around spying on him. His last game has been played.

  8. Bob in Valrico Says:

might be one one DJAX’s best moves as a Buc so far.

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m positive…that Jackson will not be a Buccaneer next season in 2019. So he might want to prove his worth for other teams.

The Chris Godwin era will begin at some point this year.

  10. Cover Deuce Says:

    “But it’s just underwear football.”

  11. Wausa Says:

I expect this offense to explode(top 5 in the NFL) this year assuming RoJo is as good as I think he is going to be.

  12. Iamabuc Says:

    I could’ve made that catch….let’s wait and see…

  13. NonyaDamnBucsiness Says:

It’s great to see Djax at OTAs. He and Jameis need that time together. I think it will pay off during the season.

If only JPP and Grimes could at least show up to provide guidance to their teammates. Especially JPP! He hasn’t played a down with these guys or in this defense. Is this status quo for JPP to miss OTAs?

  14. Cliff from lexington, KY Says:

Didn’t see that Darin, Thx. so….no go on Incognito. Says his kidneys are failing too. 🙁

But, we still need the best fat guys up front. Fat guys win in the trenches and make everything else work. We need to get back to the days of plowing with the run game and make people fear our first and second downs, and set up the pass on third and short, not third and a mile.

Get Jameis to play up to his first overall pick hype!

Defense will be better, kicking game should be more steady. Now, lets get the offense rolling. I’ll be there in Cincinnati, just like I was when we won the SB!

    LETS GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Chemistry or Accuracy…..

I could care less if Jameis connects on a pass to Jackson in practice…..and I don’t care if Jameis ever completes a pass over 20 yards….he doesn’t need to.

What I do care about is not throwing 30 yard passes when we need 6…..or throwing 4 yard passes when we need 6.

I agree that this will be the last year for Djax and I’d just as soon get something for him…..the first team that loses their #1 or 2 WR in camp will be calling…..let’s pick up a 2019 3rd rounder for him…..shed some cap space and pick up a veteran G.

  16. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

Djax could be the sickest slot receiver in the NFL.

Jameis just wasn’t used to Jackson’s speed running routes last year…

And Jameis was battling an injury for multiple games, which makes timing the throws even more difficult, obviously.

    They’ll get it down.

  17. BucEmUp Says:

    That’s awesome I’m sooooooo excited.

Now let’s see what happens in the regular season when our ers actually face tight coverage and not 12 yards of cushion

  18. stpetebucsfan Says:

How would you feel if we had gone 7-9 two years in a row with a last place finish in 2016. Would we be talking SB in ’18?

The Eagles did it why can’t we? We’ve made significant changes in the off season including at QB. We hopefully will not be playing a QB with a bad wing.
So…we can choose to remain the past and pissss and moan about ALL of it….or we can move into the present and celebrate the NEW team we have put together.

We can celebrate our prospects. They are looking good all over the board. This morning Roy Cummings wrote that our two new DB’s are getting great reviews from ME13 and others who would know. Oh it’s underwear football. Is it not better to have the rooks looking good or not bad if they were getting consistently beaten by a step? Koetter said they may have had a camp OTA record for ints.
That’s a good thing…but yeah….let’s not celebrate it….let’s pound on our skepticism based on past performance and say it’s meaningless till the season starts.

  19. Jeff Says:

I can’t wait for the pundits to suck it when JW goes off this year. Light completely changed this team with his d line moves and you will see that on both sides of the ball. Bucs will soon be waggling their big offensive hog in front of everyone. Won’t have to play catch up any longer, can run the ball and have balance.

  20. Trench War Says:

It would be an ultimate thing of beauty to watch DJax get his groove on. Having DJax equally targeted while putting numbers up gives Mike Evans and the rest better chance at making lightly contested catches. Defenses can’t afford to roll coverages to a certain player when everyone is an equal threat. Let’s hope so!

  21. Alanbucs Says:

It was one season which was their first season together where the timing was off between Jameis and Desean and people are freaking out! I don’t get it. You all act like this can’t be corrected! Let’s be honest there are people that just don’t like Jameis or Desean. You will never please these people.

  22. SOEbuc Says:

    Cliff from lexington, KY

    “Make Hump earn it.”

Hump has earned it. Certainly over DJax last year. He’s just not getting paid $30,000,000.

  23. SOEbuc Says:

Jameis can sling the ball and be accurate over the middle. Lots of long post patterns for DJax and his speed can still take him to the house.

  24. Cliff from lexington, KY Says:

SOEbuc- earn his spot as the slot. Not his paycheck. Hasn’t had any competition since he came out of camp, and never dropped a ball.

Now, along with every other position, except QB, we need healthy competition.

It brings out the best if someone is trying to take your spot, you have to earn it
