Dining With Team Glazer

April 4th, 2018

“Don’t worry, Jason, I’ll pick up the tab for the steaks and onion rings. But you need to get rid of that tailor.”

It seems Jason Licht really, really wanted center Ryan Jensen.

Not only did the Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager make Jensen the highest paid center in free agency, Licht pulled out all the stops into making sure he wined and dined and impressed Jensen on his recruiting trip to Tampa Bay.

Jensen appeared on “The Blitz” with co-hosts Brady Quinn and A.J. Haw, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, and talked about his experience.

We know from Second Amendment abolitionistparrot-insensitive, chewing-with-his-mouth-open, soup-gulping, California train-romancinganti-football proliferationouthouse-admiringairline-nappingsteerage-flyingYogi Berra-worshipingurinal picture-takingvideo game-playingTaylor Swift-listeningpickpocket-thwartingBucs-uniform-frowningAllie-LaForce-smittenBig-Ten-Network-hatingpedestrian-bumpingolive oil-lappingpopcorn-munchingcoffee-slurpingfried-chicken-eatingoatmeal-lovingcircle-jerking, craft beer-chugging, cricket-watchingscone-loathingcollege football-naïvebaseball-box-score-readingNPR-honkfilthy-hotel-stayingfight-instigatingbarista-training, social activist Peter King of SI.com fame that one of the very first phone calls NFL player agent Mike McCartney took when the free agency dinner bell rang last month was from Licht. It wasn’t that Licht was asking about McCartney’s more famous client, Kirk Cousins, but Licht was after McCartney’s lesser-known client, Jensen,

And when Jensen came to Tampa, he noted that he had steaks at a top shelf eatery on West Cypress with coaches, Bucs offensive linemen, and when Licht needed a closer to seal the deal, he signaled to bullpen to bring in Team Glazer. Which member of the Glazer family is unclear, but Jensen said he met with a “partial owner” of the Bucs.

Well, we know the Bucs are fully owned by Team Glazer. Joe can only guess it was either Joel or Bryan Glazer who finished off the sales pitch over strawberry shortcake à la mode and a glass of Fragoli.

Jensen said he enjoyed the recruiting process because as a Division-II player in college, he really wasn’t recruited at all when he selected the University of Colorado-Pueblo.

Classic subline to the picture, Joe. Made my day!!

  2. The Buc Realist Says:

I still can’t believe that the Joe’s said yesterday that this was a top ten O-line last year if Barber had been started all last year!!!! That is the wackiest thing I have read or heard here at JBF and I have read most of Kobe Faker and BigHogHeinous’s posts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad that those in the know have upgraded the interior of the O-line which needed an upgrade!!!!!!!
    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since when does being the 10th best line, a hypothetical in itself, mean you don’t need an upgrade? You make a lot of leaps, dude.–Joe

  3. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Joel Glazer was the closer for the Jensen deal.
It is said he promised Ryan a lifetime supply of Non GMO, Kosher Corned Beef, if he signed a contract with Tampa.

Now I want to go to Charley’s!

  5. SteveK Says:

Good points Realist! Keep building the trenches. We need all the help/talent we can get in there.

  6. The Buc Realist Says:

    @SteveK

    Agreed!!!!!!

Those sheep think its mission accomplished for the D-line!!!!!! Just because they went wild in free-agency!!!!! But that is not rebuilding a D-line, that was patching!!!!!!!! Watch what happens to the Rams this year!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo knows it wasn’t the dinner with Glazer that swung Hensen…..a Glazer(Pablo doesn’t know which one because to Pablo, all Glazers look alike)…..anyway after dinner a Glazer brought Hensen and Hason to watch Pablo table dance. Pablo sung his elongated arc for all to see…..Glazer was a really big tipper…..(made up for the $hitty tips Pablo gets from the Realist.”

After the move of Marpet to Center- Deteriorated the entire offense lines performance- yeah- I bet Licht was dying to get a young Center in uniform

Moving Marpet to a position he had never played before, was inexcusable ignorant. Especially considering that he came from a small college- and did not recieve the cosching he needed to bounce to Center!!

Im glad they signed Jensen. Im glad they are moving Marpet to his more natural left side.

    But.

My biggest concern is a statement Joe posted here.
Joe said that he was told, By a Buc Upper management member, that they felt Marpet was”greatly overrated” at Guard.
Please correct me if I misquoted that, Joe.

If they feel that Marpet struggled at guard, then thats a huge problem.
Marpet proved that he isnt going to make it as a center. If he cant play Guard- then there is no plan B.
I hope that isnt the case. We all like Marpets underdog story- and helped ge wss going to be a building block for this young line.
But either you can play- or you cant

Joe- have you gotten a feel from The team, on their plans for Sweezy? It looks like they plan for him to be their starting right guard.
Have given you any other thoughts concerning him?

Buc Realist..One would think you’ve beem commenting here enough to know how to utilize your own lavatory facilities. Think before your write Stop urinating all over the JoeBucFan website. The seasons not even in full gear and you are wearing..Depends already.

  11. Pickgrin Says:

Nice job by the Bucs of making Jensen feel wanted and like an A1 priority.

After touring the Bucs impressive facility – a fancy dinner with Licht, Marpet and D. Smith (and a Glazer apparently) – along with promises of the starting Center job and being made the highest paid NFL Center (after just 1 year starting at that position) – that had to feel pretty good to a guy like this with a D2 background.

He’s young, hungry, nasty and ready to kick ass playing next to Marpet.

Insert Quenton Nelson between Jensen and Donovan Smith – and watch how good our offense becomes – regardless of which RB we happen to draft…

  12. Pickgrin Says:

Capt Tim – Marpet is one of the last Buccaneer players you have to worry about “not making it” in this league. Geez dude. Get a clue. Marpet did just fine at Center for his 1st year playing the position and put tons of good things on tape his 1st 2 years at RG.

You apparently aren’t aware that Jensen’s situation is pretty much exactly the same as Marpet’s. D2 guy with a chip on his shoulder – last year was Jensen’s 1st year playing Center as well.

MJ…put on your big boy pants….this is a football comments section…sad folks can’t handle irritating posters…well posters that irritate them…where others find them entertaining…..phree teemackz

  14. SCBucsFan Says:

AE here is an idea, maybe posters shouldn’t irritate other posters simply to irritate them. Anyone can do that, it isn’t a skill to be proud of.

  15. Pickgrin Says:

“sad folks can’t handle irritating posters…well posters that irritate them…where others find them entertaining…..phree teemackz”

Who the hell wants to put up up with “irritating posters” – unless you are one –
    hmmmmmmm….

  16. AlteredEgo Says:

SCB….maybe you are taking yourself and your opinions too seriously if other opinions irritate you

  17. Pickgrin Says:

big difference between “other opinions” and professional trolling

  18. AlteredEgo Says:

    Pick…you are not a”real” fan….

Oz doesn’t let good players walk……
Don’t know anything about this guy.
But I do know that Ozzie is a better GM then Jason..

  20. SCBucsFan Says:

Pickgrin, as before no sense trying. I’m here to talk football not debate the finer aspects of being a troll.

  21. SCBucsFan Says:

destinjohnny I don’t know about that. Part of being a GM is picking players that mesh with the coaches and the teammates already there – Belichick seems to be a master at that. It sure doesn’t seem that, to a fans eye, we have anyone to step up and lead our D.

  22. 813bucboi Says:

I agree with joe…..had barber started off the bell cow, the oline wouldn’t have looked as if they were bad……it was an average group…..licht upgraded an average unit……he also provide talent along the dline and will add depth thru the draft……job well done IMO…..

its all on the coaches now!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  23. webster Says:

    @ altered

If the guy you want freed has been banned by this website, then thats great. There is no place for a person who makes jokes about another person having to bury a child. Thats what posters like pick, scbuc etc are talking about. If you are cool with a person making jokes about something as tragic as that then you can kick rocks too.

  24. Capt.Tim Says:

Pickgrin- showing off that First grade “reading and comprehensions”skills again!!

I didnt comment on Marpet. If you had read( and understood) my post- it was re-quote from Joe. An Unidendified Buccaneer Upper management guy told Joe that “ they( The Bucs) felt Marpet was highly overrated as a guard”

Again Joe, please correct me if I’ve misquoted you.

Joe posted that, in an article, a couple weeks ago
That should be a major issue

  25. Capt.Tim Says:

And irrating posters dont bother me.
I look foward to reading Pickgrins comments everyday

Even if he misinterprets my post!! Lol

  26. Capt.Tim Says:

    “Irratating”

  27. The Buc Realist Says:

“You make a lot of leaps, dude.–Joe”

Me making leaps is not the issue!!!!!!! The issue is when I leap so far ahead and have to stop and wait while the sheep slowly crawl!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!
