Bradley Chubb And The Bucs

April 6th, 2018

Tours One Buc Palace.

It was a busy day yesterday for the Bucs.

They held court with multiple players on their NFL-allotted 30 private sitdowns at One Buc Palace, including Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson as well as ferocious North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb, who Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported flew to New York after meeting with the Bucs to talk draft with the Giants.

Will be interesting in roughly three weeks to see if Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht continues his pattern of sign-and-draft at certain positions.

Two years ago Licht signed cornerback Brent Grimes and defensive end Robert Ayers as free agents and weeks later drafted cornerback Vernon Hargreaves and defensive end Noah Spence.

Last year Licht signed wide receiver DeSean Jackson and drafted Chris Godwin.

This year? Licht loaded up at defensive end. If Chubb is on the board when the Bucs pick at No. 7, does Licht call Chubb’s name? If so, think of what might be the edge rushers of the future: Jason Pierre-Paul, Spence and Chubb.

That’s strong!

One of the big three need to fall to
    Us!!!

  2. Mike in LOL Says:

Damn Joe that video got my hyped… I know there’s like a 1% chance he drops to us at 7… but if he did… ohhh man I need to see that!!

  3. Come on Man Says:

Is there any bigger insult than to present your dream D-Line without GMC in it? I know you said pass rushers but the point is to get to the QB and he is still elite #TeamGMC

  4. BushidoEvans Says:

@Come on Man I think Joe was specifically speaking to DEs specifically ones who cam rush the passer and Gerald McCoy is a DT.

  5. Pickgrin Says:

“If Chubb is on the board when the Bucs pick at No. 7, does Licht call Chubb’s name?”

Gee I wonder if he would???? Hmmmm. Its such a tough call…..

Key word there was edge rusher. GMC doesn’t rush from the edge.

Whether we’re able to get Chubb or not, we need to take at LEAST 2 DL in the draft. I’m hoping one of them is Ade. Hopefully watching and playing with fellow Nigerian JPP will help motivate him more….

  7. Waterboy Says:

Chubb is the only one of the big 3 that I absolutely can’t see falling to 7.

  8. FSUTAMPAFAN Says:

Chubb is just the next bust at defensive end, this highlight video showed nothing that made him stand out. Nothing he does in his videos pops off the screen. He’s developmental at this point nothing I’ve seen makes me believe he is gonna be elite or pro bowl worthy in the first couple years. And why is Spence even thrown in in the article he is only a rotational pass rusher who is soft and flashes once a month.

  9. Harlos Says:

He came in for a visit and Licht didn’t sign him!!!!!
    Lol

  10. NFLNut Says:

^ Chubb “could” definitely be there:

    #1-3: QB
    #4 Browns: Saquon
#5 Broncos: Mayfield or Ward or Nelson
    #6 Colts: Nelson or Ward
    #7: Chubb

  11. TBChucky Says:

Pipe dream at this point. I agree Waterboy, he’s the one that would shock me the most at #7..

  12. MadMax Says:

I have a feeling he’ll be there as well as Nelson (QB run and trades)…..hmmm decisions, decisions….I’d take Chubb!

But if the right trade came in and we could land Big V or Landry (or both) wouldnt that be sweet!!! Never know!

  13. 1sparkybuc Says:

Giants take Chubb to replace JPP. Browns take Barkley. Colts take Nelson. Bucs trade back for more picks….BPA at your guess is as good as mine.

  14. lambchop Says:

That pic of him taunting would be an unsportsmanlike penalty in the NFL. But, if he’s a Buc, I’d enjoy watching it.

Pretty much scratching his balls would be a 15 yard obscenity penalty nowadays.

  15. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

If Licht doesn’t think Chubb or the other Big 2 would not be there, he would have already traded out of the #7 pick with one of the QB needy teams.

  16. Espo Says:

Giants are taking him, unless Brownies do.

  17. Easy Says:

I’d love Chubb to fall to us but if he doesn’t Harold Landry is gonna be just as good IMO.

  18. lambchop Says:

    @Scotty,

Nobody trades down pre-draft unless it’s for a huge haul only to move down a couple spots (Jets/Colts). The projected trade partners with the Bucs are Dolphins at 11, Bills at 12, and Patriots at 23. That’s too far a jump to pull that trade pre-draft. The trades will happen live. Nobody knows exactly what will happen with picks 2,4,5,6. 1 and 3 are a lock for a QB.

  19. BucFanFromOh Says:

1-3 are not a lock for QB at all. Giants are taking Chubb.

  20. Doolnutts Says:

I’m a bucs fan in Giants country… Giants don’t need to replace JPP per say. Not because he wasn’t good but because he didn’t fit the 34 scheme as well as he did a 43. This has been confirmed by multiple news sources locally and nationally. I would be surprised if they took Chubb who is better suited for a 43. There are a lot more options in this year’s draft for 34 OLBs so they will likely wait for one in later rounds.

  21. lambchop Says:

    @BucFan,

Giants are #2. The first pick will be a QB, not Saquon. And the Jets moved up to 3 for a QB, they have nobody on their roster.

  22. lambchop Says:

Giants will get Saquon Barkley or maybe a QB. I don’t see the pick being Chubb or Nelson.

  23. Easy Says:

I could see the Giants trading outta the 2nd pick if Buffalo gives them a kings ransom

  24. Buc4life Says:

Its pretty easy…take who Licht and Koetter think are best player available outside of a qb.

  25. Ocala Says:

I can see Chubb falling to 7.
I also think there are going to be more trades in the top ten of the draft this year than had ever occured before.

  26. Bucs Guy Says:

Take one of the big 3 if any of them are still there. If not, hopefully someone wants to trade up for the 4th QB. Easy solution and the Bucs could use the extra picks. I think most people would agree with this.

The nightmare scenario is if the big 3 are gone and you can’t get a decent trade. Then who do you pick at #7 when the value isn’t there. I like James, but no S is worth a #7. Fitzpatrick is way overrated and is an in betweener. Ward is smaller than I would like and sometimes gets “too handsy”. Maybe Vea? Don’t see a clear sure thing (other than LB we don’t need ) worthy of that pick. I’m sure Licht has a plan for this. He did say he’s received calls from teams wanting to trade up, so that’s a positive sign that at least he’s planning for the nightmare scenario. Let’s just all hope it works out.

    @BucFan,

    _______________________________________________________________

Which is why I said GIANTS are the ones taking the non-QB. 1 and 3 will be QB, not #2. What is so hard to understand?

  28. lambchop Says:

    @BucFan,

What is hard to understand is your lack of reading comprehension. Go back to my post. I said 1 and 3 are a lock for a QB, not 1-3.

    Sheesh, some people.

  29. BucFanFromOhio Says:

    @lambchop

Touche. I definately read that as 1-3, not 1 and 3. My apologies, d!ck.

  30. Defense Rules Says:

Big guessing game at this point as to what teams above us will do. On draft night, anything is possible. Bottom line to me is that IF we stay at #7 we’ll get a difference-maker (and yes Bucs Guy, if we don’t get Chubb/Bradley/Nelson then James/Fitzpatrick/Ward/Vea can all sill be difference-makers). IF we trade down (depending on how far down) and grab an extra pick, we stand a good chance of picking up 2 players who could both help us. Or not (no sure-things the lower down you go).

  31. Capt.Tim Says:

    Harold Landry?
Yet another 6’2, 250 Lb getting drafted as a DE?
    Why not?
Poor also undersized Noah Spence would probably like some company in the tub!

Both of those guys are Rush Lbers. Trying to make them match up against 6’6”, 315 lb Tackles is a waste of their talent, their careers, and our draft picks.

6’2” gives up too much leverage. 250 gives up too much weight.

If we want to draft another Defnsive end- lets draft a Defensive End.
If hes 6’2”- he needs to be 275 or more.
If hes 250lbs or less- he better be 6’5” or more.

    Good rule of thumb

  32. Destinjohnny Says:

    Spence???????
Bro spence and strong don’t go together.
When you are a 235 pound
Defensive end who runs a 4.8 forty with one move to the outside…..

  33. 813bucboi Says:

    im hoping for nelson…….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  34. Big Country Says:

Giants are bluffing, I cannot buy that they are not going to get a QB to replace Eli. There seems to be at least 2 teams that want to trade up for a QB. It is a lot more likely than people realize that Chubb or Barkley fall right in our laps. There will be 4 QBs off the board in the top 5 and teams will be trying to get in the top 10 to get Lamar Jackson. The Bucs and Colts are in prime spots to trade down with a team that wants Lamar Jackson. It would be the best for the Bucs to trade down with Buffalo. Even over picking one of the top 3 IMO.
Pick SS D James at 12…Guard Will Hernandez at 22….RB R Penny and a top CB in the second round. This would give us a better chance of winning than picking one player at the top.

  35. OneBucPerson Says:

Oh Joe, please don’t tease me like that. I want Chubb soooo badly but it’s not gonna happen without a trade up.

  36. MadMax Says:

    Von Miller 6’3 245

    Demarcus Lawrence 6’3 250

yeah criticize them for their size…. and go.

  37. MadMax Says:

And Giants are going QB, almost 99% sure of it.

  38. NFLNut Says:

There is NO WAY the Giants take Chubb at #2 imho … NO WAY!

  39. JAB83 Says:

Best value with our current roster would be Davenport. He fits the MOLD

JPP, Curry, Big Willy and Davenport. = DEs of the Future

    Spence is your rover.

  40. lambchop Says:

There’s no way any team should pick a raw talent in the top 10. Better to go for a day 1 starter or trade down and take the gamble on Davenport with an extra draft pick to boot.
