“Oh God”

March 22nd, 2018

New scourge of NFC South.

From toothless to a dangerous fang.

That’s what happened to the Bucs defense today. Last year, with a horrid sack total of 22 — worst in the NFL — the Bucs defense was soft as a newborn kitten.

With the addition of dangerous sackmeister Jason Pierre-Paul today, that kitten has grown dangerous fangs and is ready to bite.

And whose day was ruined today? Skip Bayless of FS1 believes Drew Brees, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan suddenly have come down with acid reflux as they found out they will have to dodge JPP twice a year for the foreseeable future. Before, they could stand in a pocket and order a sandwich through Uber Eats and not have to worry about a Bucs defensive lineman breathing on them.

“Somewhere Cam and Brees and Matt Ryan are saying, ‘Oh God,'” Bayless said today on “Undisputed.”

Guest panelist Rod Woodson also weighed in on the trade and said somewhere, stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy must be dancing in his kimono.

“What really benefits [JPP], I mean, he’s going to play with McCoy with the Bucs,” Woodson said. “They were dead last in sacks last year. So it’s going to help this guy individually. It’s going to help that football team down south.”

Now the question is, does Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht rest on his laurels, or does he add another defensive end in the draft?

Been a Bucs fan for awhile now good moves but it’s hard to get excited. Still need a DB or two.

  2. SteveK Says:

Pumped to have an animal with athletic prowess and proven track record of JPP!

This has to be Pablo’s favorite name to say: “Hey PP”!

  3. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

McCoy might actually have a chance to win a ring now. JPP is that good when healthy. Here’s hoping he stays healthy for us.

Now if they pick up another DE (Davenport/Landry/Hubbard) or DT (Vea, Payne)

RT Mike McGlinchey has to be on the radar after round 1.

  4. Red86 Says:

We still need to get another DE in case of injuries. Chubb isn’t completely off the table because if the Giants Giants going to a 34 defense the a pass rushing olb is still in play at 2.

  5. Lamarcus Says:

    Add another one

Draft Davenport with the 7th. That’s how you pick him without reaching

  6. Lamarcus Says:

Chubb looked soft breaking his finger nail in front of Bilicheat said it all about him. Pass

  7. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Gee Joe

now all of sudden you’re a JPP fan boy???????????

……the GM from new york got rid of him for reason….why

—–>> Because JPP is going downhill fast!!!!

    bad acquisition by our GM

  8. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

still need another healthy capable DE, looks like arden key will be going 3rd roudn bcause off field issues

  9. bucsfaninchina Says:

    LOL.

  10. TMAXXPAPADOTS Says:

Hell yeah! I love crop dusting my neighbors

  11. Bird Says:

    Barkley won’t be there.

So db or safety will. Which is biggest need now. The best of each.

Denzel ward would be my pick. Lattimore clone.

  12. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

    @TheBucsAnthem

JPP has been improving each year since his hand injury and had 8.5 sacks last.

Actually past two years his tackle and sack stats blow Robert Quinn out of the water.

Where the hell you got the impression that he is going “downhill fast” i imagine was the same efftarded place that some get the notion that we should get rid of GMC.

    SHAKING.MY.DAMN.HEAD

  13. JAB83 Says:

Dont sleep on Will Gholston… Man is beastly… He now has the freedom and support to take his game to the next level… One down season for him last year… He is worth keeping an eye on!!!

    Sleeper pick bets anyone???

  14. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

Looking for the why? JPP does not fit into 3-4 scheme Giants are moving too.

Giants also not set up the same way the bucs far, we can handle that salary. They needed to free up space and get 3-4 OLBs and DEs.

  15. AlteredEgo Says:

The Haitian Hitman will play inspired again….he’ll be out to prove the world is wrong about him !

  16. DB55 Says:

Draft talk is tough really just depends who is available. But yes you def draft a DE somewhere in the draft maybe with your third round pick, oh wait …lol

  17. Schlomie BarmitzvahCircumScissorStein Says:

3 years out of his prime with a missing hand. Too bad the Bucs whiffed when you was coming out of USF.

  18. NJBucsFan Says:

Hoping for Chad Thomas in the 4th

  19. Lord Cornelius Says:

It’s hilarious when Bucs fans say completely wrong clueless baseless sh1t to form a negative argument about their own team.

    People are f*cking weird man.

The best is all the people all offseason saying
OH NO WHAT ABOUT THE CAP WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!

despite countless cap arguments; or showing how we have like $50 million in cuts coming up the next 1-2 years. And in the end – why the F8ck would fans care so much about the cap lol.. we’ve literally never been in any cap trouble in any recent period of time..

  20. AlteredEgo Says:

Gotta balance the back end now…DB’s

  21. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    1. Saquon Barkley
    2. Will Hernandez

    or

    1. Fitzpatrick/James for SS
    2. CB/Will Hernandez

  23. rob w Says:

This is great news. This guy is a real threat to quarterbacks. A big improvement for us. 3rd round picks don’t always make impacts.

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo loves Hason picking Hason……..Pablo doesn’t think Hason Pierre Paul is French…but that’s OK…..Pablo has heard that Hason (PP) claims to have an elongated arc…..we will see. Pablo loves this trade because Pablo’s Bucs wouldn’t likely have selected anyone brown in the third round…..”

  25. DB55 Says:

    Gotta bring back Ayers. Must!

  26. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo doesn’t know if other JBF amigos have noticed the group of names added to Bucs D…….Beau, Mitch, Vinny, Hason…….WTF…..Pablo is waiting for Biff & Bubba, maybe a DB named Scooter”

  27. DB55 Says:

The efficiency behind this move is impressive. Now whenever JPP touches GMC he only has to lick 3 fingers instead of 5. #Brilliant

  28. LakeLand Says:

The DUMB Bucs just traded the 69th pick in the NFL draft for a one handed Edge Rusher. These are the 69th pick from the last 5 drafts.

    2017. WR Cooper Kupp
    2016 DE Yannick Ngakoue
    2015 WR Tyler Lockett
    2014 Charles Sims
    2013 Tyrann Mathieu

Bottom Feeders make dumb moves like this

  29. pick6 Says:

just checked a little history. last year the 3rd round got us godwin and beckwith….pretty awesome haul that late in the draft.

HOWEVER, prior to that it seems to have mostly been used as a trading chip by licht. his only prior 3rd round selection i could find was Chuck Sims. for the bucs as a whole, Sims’ predecessor in that round was Mike Glennon and before that you have to go back to mason foster in 2008 to find a 3rd rounder who made a mark on this team.

it’s an indictment of every bucs GM this century, but also makes the point that we didn’t give up a whole lot in the grand scheme of this franchise’s struggles assembling talent

  30. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I wonder if JPP ate a few “Ws” in NY…..and missed!!!

  31. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    ………….yeah

All these Bucs fan boys are going to be saying the complete opposite come week 8 and JPP hasn’t made a difference and the bucs are headed towards the end of another below .500 season

……..Bucs fan boys think big names equals big wins nope (see Revis / Haynesworth)

……….getting ready for another let down

  32. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

    IS ANYONE….(no, and it’s a rhetorical question) ELSE….taking a look at this…

Now that Licht has traded successfully and favorably with Gettleman in NY on the JPP trade, when Cleveland turns the card in for Darnold (or nay QB frankly), how much EASIER will it be for Licht to just pick up the phone immediately and let Gettleman fall down to the #7 spot for say Nelson there, and pick up or 2nd rounder this year, plus 1st and 3rd rounder in 2019. FOR BARKLEY. Those prior relationships in successful trading mean a ton on draft night.

Yes, Buffalo might make a call at that same time, but they ARE NOT likely (IMO) to include a #1 in 2019 also, whereas we will. They will merely give their 2 1st rounders in 2018, and a 3rd rounder in 2018.

Calling Gettleman to get SA-QUON, Say-gone just got a lot easier, at #2. Mull it over mutants.

    Go Bucs!

  33. Pickgrin Says:

Of course you draft a DE in this draft – and 2 more next year from a much better crop. Duh. At least now the Bucs don’t have to reach for one with a high pick in a less than stellar class. They have the freedom now to pick a more developmental DE with good potential in the 4th or 5th instead of spending a 1st or 2nd on one that still carries a high degree of risk.

  34. DB55 Says:

    Tbbf

    Like – 👍🏽

  35. SteveK Says:

    Lakeland,

    C’mon now bro!

This is a solid move. JPP needs to be accounted for in the opponents game plan

Currently we have GMC and JPP= 2 dudes you need to account for.

We also have a younger/more durable, Vinny Curry, in place of Robert Ayers.

I agree with the poster above, draft Davenport if the big three are gone. Give me the freaky edge prospect over a safety every day! Sorry FSU Fans!

  36. AlteredEgo Says:

Lets not forget about Noah Spence…….

  37. bucs_365 Says:

With the trade, we can’t draft a DE, RB, and CB in the first 3 rounds. I wouldn’t be satisfied with our current DE situation. I would trade down if possible, perhaps acquire a 2nd or 3rd rounder, draft Davenport after trade down, then RB in round 2, and CB in round 3 (or other 2nd rounder if that’s what we get).

  38. SteveK Says:

We can’t give up too much to move up. Preferably not any future picks. I hope one of Barkley, Nelson, or Chubb fall to 7.

  39. AlteredEgo Says:

Even without the (3) falling….plenty of EXCELLENT options now….pressure is off….

  40. SOEbuc Says:

They do need to resign Ayers now for nice fresh rotation.

  41. Joe Says:

    Dont sleep on Will Gholston.

Why? Is he going to try to sell Joe a used truck?

  42. Jeffbuc Says:

The Bucs anthem go root for another team. In what planet is this a bad move. You were crying when we didn’t get Quinn. But pissed we get jpp. When he played us after the injury I remember he being in jameis face all game long. 8.5 sacks on a team that was getting blown out every game is pretty good. Now your already sayin we will be losing next year and not be doing anything. So what would you recommend us do. I’m waiting what does your brilliant mind think we should have done. Since this is such a bad move. Every other place I’m reading they think this is a great move for the Bucs. Just like this article the qbs of the nfc south now have someone they have to worry about and game plan against. They have to slide protection to his side or keep in an extra tight end to chip him while still trying to double team McCoy. And worry about Spence and curry coming from the other end. I think for once we have one of our best defensive fronts we have had in a long time and you are crying and whining like you are all out of Tampax and midol. Like a said a 3rd round pick is still a crap shoot. And I would trade anyone of our recent 3rd picks straight up for jpp. We just traded for an above average player at our most important need and yet you cry

  43. Lord Cornelius Says:

    “2017. WR Cooper Kupp
    2016 DE Yannick Ngakoue
    2015 WR Tyler Lockett
    2014 Charles Sims
    2013 Tyrann Mathieu”

Other than Ngakoue – none of those players are worth more than what JPP brings to this team. And even then Ngakoue is debatable.

Slot WRs / 3rd down backs / safeties <<<<< 3 down DE that can rush the passer.

And why not bring up all the complete busts that are 3rd round picks? It is just chance that Mattiew / Ngokue were in that pick. Finding studs in the 3rd is by far not the norm or something that happens at a rate of more than a couple picks per year. By that point in the draft you're talking like a 30-40% success rate in terms of just finding solid contributors. You're talking tons of busts in that round. Just last year alone I can point out a ton.

Not getting the hate for this move by you Lakeland or why you're obsessed with a 3rd round pick all of a sudden as if it's incredibly valuable.

I don't even want to hear some BS cap room argument. We have $70 million coming to us in cuts and increased cap space the next 2 offseasons. That's before you even consider possibly cutting any of the new guys we signed.

So basically – you think we were guarenteed a better player than JPP in the 3rd round.

Objectively/historically that's just insane. Could it happen? Yes.
Would that be extremely rare and unexpected? Yes.

    Not getting it…

  44. Lord Cornelius Says:

    68 tackles / 8 sacks / 2 FF / 5 passes defended / 4 tackles for loss

<— What a bum right! Surely nothing the Bucs could use. Not like pass rush was the single biggest weakness of this team by far.

This team makes dumb moves all the time but this was an obvious upgrade at a fair price. 92% snaps vs Quinn at 58%; with way more production and less injury worries going forward = why he was slightly more costly. Pretty basic sh1t.

  45. Jeffbuc Says:

I’m so sad we just wasted a 3rd round pick on a guy that is proven and 8.5 sacks last year. Wah wah turn off Justin Timberlake’s cry me a river song and be excited like all bucs fans should be right now. I will gladly wager you a friendly bet bucs anthem that jpp has more sacks this year than any rookie 4-3 defensive end. Not counting 3-4 outside linebackers. But 4-3 defensive ends. And then in week 8 when he has 7 sacks and we are 6-2 you will be posting pics warring his jersey screaming you knew he was the answer.

  46. LakeLand Says:

    From Yahoo comments

Never the same since the accident. Needed to go, especially making that kind of money.

JPP has never had the same production as he had in his great rookie season. He was good but not great for years and then he blew his hand off. He’s been entirely mediocre since, is paid too much $$ and is hurt a lot. I like the deal from a giants perspective. They free up cap room and get a 3rd round pick.

He was never the same after being dumb with fire works. He was paid a lot and was a avg player just like he will be with TB at best.

Bad move. He’s going to have PTSD episodes every time that cannon on the pirate ship goes off.

If JPP is the best Giant, it’s no wonder they had such an abyssmal record.

Would have been nice to get a little more for him, but Giants needed to create some additional cap space and JPP really hasn’t been great since his rookie season.

This trade proves how STUPID REESE was for giving JPP that big contract ..

Giants are making some smart decisions and JPP was good, but this is the best thing they’ve done, get rid of the broken car and find something better, way to go Giants

DId the Giants trade that oven mitt pad too?

Great trade. He’s got two good seasons left, not in their division and the combined draft picks will give them at least equal play for much less.

  47. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Now, I like the idea of trading down if we can…..we could use extra picks….it is highly unlikely Barkley or Chubb will be there at 7…..we can get Davenport, a CB or RB & Guard with extra picks.

The only player to trade up for would be Barkley but I think he will be too costly.

  48. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    “From Yahoo comments”

Woah now, forget about what the numbers say people. The Yahoo comments are saying that we’re wrong.

  49. Bucsfanman Says:

ROTFLMAO!!!! Will Gholston?! C’mon JAB83, what are you his agent?! I had as many sacks as Will last year! By accident, he should’ve at least got one.
We rushed to retain a one-trick pony last year in Will who turned into a no-trick pony. You really think he’s a “sleeper”?! The “run-stopping guru” who led the last place defense?!
    Seriously though.

    Well played TBBF!

  50. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

They must add more to the trenches.
Good move – but remember, the Giants had JPP last year.
They are picking 2nd in the draft.

The Bucs have to continue fortifying the trenches. Right now they can field a decent lineup on paper – but are one injury on either line from being abysmal again. They should add another DE and another interior offensive lineman with the first two picks in the draft.

    Keep at it…

FIX THE TRENCHES, FIX THE BUCS!!

  51. SOEbuc Says:

Now we have three starters on the Dline that we’ve picked up this year that have Super Bowl rings. Two last year in Philly. Nice.

  52. LakeLand Says:

I’m laughing with the Giants fans

How Dave Gettleman got the 69th pick for a one handed mediocre DE

The Giants traded 19 fingers and got back 20. Good deal.

Shouldn’t combine stupid, alcohol and fireworks.

Sending a old has been to a desperate team for what really amounts to a third round pick is now “stunning” news now? At best it is mildly interesting. Do we really need the extreme use of language to draw attention to pedestrian stories? If the Packers traded Aaron Rodgers, yes that would be a stunning move. If the Giants LT in his prime, yup stunning. If the Broncos traded Terrell Davis after their first Superbowl win, you got it… Stunning. Get a grip frank, we are not 14 year olds wondering what Selina Gomez put on her lips yesterday. We are football fans.

Every time that Cannon Goes Off And he smells That gunpowder….. He may regret this .

He “single handedly” got himself traded by a freak accident.

You’d think 2 functioning hands are really important to make tackles. I think this was a poor trade by the Bucs.

I guess, technically speaking, this guy has a 50% less chance of being called for holding.

  53. JAB83 Says:

For No Good Reason, you hate on Will G. He doesn’t make or break this line… He only adds to it… Dont sleep on him…

And Im sorry your buyimg used cars… Might want to step up your game if you want Rachael Watson before the roid juices take effect…

  54. Tval Says:

Dbs benefit MOST from these moves.. Ask my mediocre eagle secondary 🙂

  55. lurker Says:

    wtf

so the comments here are not bad enough?…
now we have to read comments from posters, ny fans, from a yahoo article

    smh

  56. SCBucsFan Says:

LL, if you went to a Bucs board like this you would pick the quotes from you, DB55 and TMax and post them. You would want everyone to think all is lost, the whole board thinks it. Go cherrypick some more comments. All that shows me is not all trolls live under bridges in Tampa – or Colorado if you believe him.

Had he gone to the Saints in the same deal you would say Licht was sleeping at the wheel and should be fired.

  57. Lord Cornelius Says:

    @Lakeland digging for garbage today.

I’ve seen plenty of Giants comments saying it sucks to see him go – that he was good in 2017 – but they understand they’re rebuilding.

Easy to cherry pick sh1t like that. Dude played every game last year but is “hurt a lot”. 4 games missed out of last 32 – way better rate than ANY of our D-lineman lately.

Even your cherry picked negative comments have people saying he’s good lol.

I don’t give a f*ck if we’re paying him a little more than his market value.

WE NEEDED DE THAT BADLY!!! Said it before the offseason WE ARE DESPERATE AS F*CK AT THAT POSITION AND NEED TO OVERPAY $$$ TO FIX IT IF NEEDED.

Still draft 2 DEs. Cut the dead weight when we actually develop the draft picks. Literlaly no cap issues.

The ONLY argument against this is to think we would have gotten the equivalent talent of a player in round 3 of the draft. Good luck with that math

  58. lurker Says:

perhaps lakeland should just stay on the yahoo thread and not post here

  59. Jeffbuc Says:

Lakeland what you just posted is in accurate and can’t be relied on. A simple google of his stats show he didn’t have a great rookie year he had 4 sacks. His second year he had 16.5. Followed by 6.5 then in an injury shortened season he had 2 then 12.5. Then the hand injury where he only played a couple games and had one. Then he had 7 and then 8.5. So I would say he is trending upwards. His sack total has increased two years straight but yeah he is washed up at 29. But Bennett at 33 is still in his prime and who should have gotten. Who has more sacks this year Bennett or jpp

  60. Lord Cornelius Says:

“You’d think 2 functioning hands are really important to make tackles”

Yeah then how did he average 4 tackles a game? Some of this sh1t is just dumb as hell….

I’m very disappoint right now in you Lakeland lol

  61. DBS Says:

You know the old saying. Some people would Bitch if you hung them with a new rope!

  62. lurker Says:

    people complain about the d-line
then licht improves it, and people complain

  63. SteveK Says:

This is a fabulous attempt to add pass rush!

    Love it!

Denzel ward would be my pick. Lattimore clone.
    _________________________________________________________________

As an Ohio resident I can say with 100% certainty that Ward is nowhere NEAR the player Lattimore was at OSU. I would stay the heck away from Ward, he’s got VHIII written all over him. Even down to his stupid “incomplete” arm waving anytime the receiver doesn’t catch the ball (including overthrows).

  65. JAB83 Says:

    @LakeLand

He only needs one hand to knock your butt out…

    BUT

I would take a bet he could knock you out with his stub too…

Your jokes are funny but not a 10 in JPPs book…

  66. Chris in WA Says:

The only thing a thrid round pick can provide for sure is youth for the long term and a cheap rookie contract. You can’t say with a straight face that Licht could have had a rookie picked in the third round who would contribute 8+ sacks this season or the next. Is it possible? Yes, but so is winning the lottery. The strikeout rate for thrid round picks is much higher than (to use a baseball analogy) singles or doubles, much less home runs. The way I see JPP right now is he is a double at worst and Buckner might be able to coax a pro-bowl performance out of him this next season. He is currently on the right side of 30 still and brings experience and mentorship to this D-Line.

As for the draft this opens up so many options. Trading back and getting Derwin James at safety, Denzel Ward at CB, or Davenport at DE are all now great options with the depth that we are slowly building (no real depth currently at CB). Davenport is a project who will only start to come around in a few years you say? Well that now starts to align with the end of JPP’s contract. Trading back in the draft can easily make up that third round pick. I just don’t get the outrage over this. And if there is a bluechip at no. 7 then no reason to trade back. This JPP trade gives the team options in the draft and less desperation from a potential final year GM and coach to do something drastic and dumb.

  67. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Hey Lakeland…..JPP still has both middle fingers for you!!!

  68. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

LOL, according to Lakeland we just gave up the ability to draft someone of Charles Sims. Oh my god what have we done. LMAO at his negativity and asinine comments.

  69. Eric Says:

He will definitely have a big hand in turning this around. But not necessarily fingers in the pie.

  70. Jeffbuc Says:

Haters gonna hate. But have no clue why fans would hate on there own team. I’m excited and overly optimistic like any fan should be and I see him blowing up and getting 15 sacks. And until I see other wise I’m going with that. Can’t wait to see who the giants draft with that pick it will be great to look back on and see how that player pans out.

  71. DB55 Says:

Dudes if curry and JPP combine for 10 sacks this whole off-season is a huge bust. So let’s not raise the Lombardi just yet.

  72. LakeLand Says:

I”m just posting the jokes by other commenters.

Isn’t this the genius that almost blew off his hand with a firecracker?

Did they get a five fingered discount on this guy?

I give this trade, two thumbs up!

I guess they needed a 1 armed defensive end

Make some cap room and draft someone who can get to the QB. No great loss.

  73. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Jeff more than likely that guy won’t even make the Giants roster. Remember the Aguayo trade up that everyone bashed. The guy that KC took didn’t even make their roster and had one tackle with them team that he landed on. Guys act like these third round picks are sure fire hall of farmers. The majority don’t make the team or a stuck on special teams for a couple of years hoping they develop. For every one homerun like Beckwith, there are two or 3 guys that never turned into staters and were out of the league in a couple of years.

  74. Bird Says:

I can’t believe you guys even care what Lakeland , anthem and thong boy make here.

They are trolls. Not fans. Damn grown babies

  75. Eric Says:

folks really wanted us to go into the season with the same crew plus two new run stuffers?

    I don’t get it.

Do you like seeing the other QB standing in the pocket all day deciding which of our secondary guys to humiliate?

  76. Bird Says:

Was it Lakeland , anthem or tmax (thong boy) ?

Formerly known as “phallus buc”. I mean “Dallas buc”

  77. Fire the Glazers Says:

    ALL WROOONNNNGGG!!!
This guy is not worth it. Oh my god. I can’t believe people are welcoming this. Such a horrid move, that will be the reason Licht gets fired at the end of the year.

  78. Tval Says:

Lakeland should write for amy schumer.. 🙂

  79. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

How is it all wrong Fire??? You don’t want a pass rush? What was your brilliant solution to solving the lack of any pass rush whatsoever??? Since it is ALL WRONG you must have the answer for what the right move was.

  80. Tval Says:

Must be a southern saying, dbs… This yankee never heard that one.. Not surprised coming from the south that would be a common phrase. Kinda weird.

  81. Gambelero Says:

Trade down looks better and better, but odds of one of the three premier players still being there is also looking good. Trading up scenarios look beyond idiotic to me. Cleveland is not taking Barkley and 4 QBs are going top 12, probably top 7. Two LBs are going top 10. A fifth QB is going top 15, maybe 6 in the first round. McGlinchy is a left tackle. You’ll hear a lot of “He was better at right tackle,” smokescreen. Coming out of the combine you don’t hear much about receivers and tight ends, but a few of each kill it on their pro days and move into the top 15.

Sitting where we are gets us Barkley, Chubb or Nelson, in order of probability. If those guys are gone, it automatically means that Buffalo, Washington and Arizona Miami, San Diego a moved down Giants, Jacksonville and more) are competing for a QB.

And Nut asked earlier: Barkley and a second round guard or Nelson and N. Chubb? Give me Nelson and Chubb.

  82. Tampabaybucfan Says:

All of this should even out…..you have your hits & misses in the draft and FA….

On the bright side…..we gave up no draft picks for Hump, Brate, Barber and we have some other players in development that were undrafted….Elliott, Auclair,Bobo & the Lounge Singer…..that ain’t bad guys!!!

  83. AlteredEgo Says:

Tval…that saying is as old as the hills….a good one too…

  84. Issic haggins Says:

    @ Lamarcus, You ain’t lie N

I see the same in some of his film

  85. D-Rome Says:

I still think the Bucs need to get a DE in this draft.

  86. Lamarcus Says:

Gaints and their fans are so excited about this trade. Why?

  87. BucFanInPhoenix Says:

JPP was a good pickup. HOWEVER, all this talk about the draft and who we should take and what we should do with the pick(s) we have etc etc? Does anyone have confidence in the current coaching staff we have that with whoever we choose will they be able to guide, coach, and show them the way it is to be done at the pro level? I myself have serious doubts about that. The draft to begin with is a crap shoot with how that player(s) is going to do at the pro level. Even more a crap shoot with a coaching staff that is highly doubtful in being able to coach up a player and use them to the best of the players ability to do what is needed to help the team win. So many ?’s with this Bucs team *sighs*

  88. JabooBuc Says:

Lakeland and the rest of you negative dolts need to get a grip. It’s a great move if you have the cap space. No guarantee of getting anything that amounts to what he brings to the table in the 3rd round. Plus, this now gives the Bucs a lot of options. Only Chubb was worthy of a high pick at DE and he was likely gone by 7. Now they can sit back and draft BPA or trade out.

They are now sitting in a great spot to trade down and potentially regain that 3rd round pick and additional picks. I am also sure CB’s, RB’s and OLine will be top priorities. Overall, great move.

  89. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

I really have a hard time figuring out how you guys call yourself Buc fans. At some point you go from fairweather fan to just straight troll.
Lakeland already took Buc out of his name and bashes team everyday-not a fan
BucAnthem is a well known closeted Titans fan and president of the Mariota jock sniffers-not a fan.
Tmaxcon- dont know if he is a real person or an outdated AI that just repeats itself. He denounces our “Glory Years” and puts down our greatest players. – don’t know how he’s ever been a fan.
IF you are a real fan do yourself a favor and don’t listen to the trolls masquerading on this site as Buc fans.

  90. Steven007 Says:

Lakeland, did you just say “from Yahoo comments”? You mean some other low hanging fruit fans? You lost me at “Yahoo comments”. As evidence the very second comment notes that he never had the same production as “his great rookie season”. You mean the season he had 4.5 sacks and 30 tackles? Because THAT was his rookie season. Last year he nearly doubled all those metrics. Get out of here with garbage comments from p!ssed off Giants fans.

You’re losing credibility with crab comments like that.

  91. Not there yet Says:

I’m happy with the and hopefully it has gholston coming off the bench but this is what people wanted, they had the same overreaction past year when we signed d Jack. I’m excited but to much overreacting, he’s still got to play in a Mike Smith scheme which sucks

  92. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @lamarcus
The same reason that idiot bucs fans would be happy if we moved McCoy. When is the last time JPP had a real inside presence like GMC? All he had in NYC was an overrated and overpaid Vernon.

  93. Dave Pear Says:

I give this trade 1 1/2 thumbs up!

  94. Steven007 Says:

    *haha, CRAP comments…

  95. cgmaster Says:

it’s hysterical reading the foolishness of Anthem, Lakeland and a few others. Why do you guys even root for the Bucs? It’s clear you hate everything about them. That either makes you a sucker for self punishment or a troll. Not sure which one yet. I”m guessing trolls.

  96. MTM Says:

The previous, previous Fuc*tard GM should have drafted JPP but passed on him for some not on roster anymore player. JPP would probably still have all 10 digits if TB drafted him. Welcome back JPP!!

  97. Brenton Says:

Some of our fans sound pretty dumb complaining about 8.5 sacks and ignoring that JPP had the 3rd most tackles of any defensive lineman in the league. If the giants kept him well rested and only had him rush the passer he would be a constant 10+ sack guy. There is more value in playing all the snaps and producing in every facet of the game. Lets go Buccs!

  98. Reach87 Says:

Problem with posers is they either don’t know what they are looking at or are too lazy to look in the right place. JPP is an upgrade to our line. He made plays last year and will make them for us. Taking a “snapshot” of what fans are posting in NY is not reliable at all. Check his tape then ours…tells you all you need to know, if you know what you’re looking at. Those hating because JPP is no Quinn or Bennett, please explain how both of those free agents wanted to come here and our GM/head coach/ owner/ GMC cancelled the deal. Can’t do it cause it didn’t happen. At least 50 free agents this year wont come here. Same every year since free agency started. Crying over someone who chose not to come here is a waste, especially when you deflect the “blame” on the ones who chose to come. Try embracing the team you have instead of slamming them while pining for the ones that signed with someone else. Go Bucs!

JPP arguably had a better DT in NYC than McIceCream. They call him snacks Damon Harrison is no joke.

  100. Lamarcus Says:

I like JPP but Giants fans believe they got a steal in a 3rd round pick for him.

2 playoff wins in 6 years is failure fool not glory years…. cowboys, 49ers, steelers, patroits those are glory years what dungy the clown did was failure. he and that bum mckay could not even field a high school level offense…

and has far as the underachieving has beens go 1 title with that defense is failure… sapp is the only true hall of famer outside of selmon. there is no derrick brooks if sapp does not wreck the front.

just keep on lowering standards to justify failure that’s what losers do…

  102. tmaxcon Says:

now that bucs have some MEN on the dline mccoy won’t be able to keep up… he will be on IR by week 4 crying about something… big toe, labia tear etc…

    move the cancer mr licht!!!!

  103. BucEmUp Says:

Sack totals will remain low, and even though Licht has McCoy, jpp, curry, Spence, kwon and David blitzing it will be all the gms fault. I really hope Licht and Koetter stay next season when Smith is fired

  104. DBS Says:

    @Tval
It is and isn’t. Goes back as far a western times. References people that always complain about everything. After committing a crime and now going to be hung he complains about the type rope. New rope was prickly not smooth.

Another was he should have been worried about being hung not the condition of the rope.

  105. Lamarcus Says:

    Mike Evans goat

GIANTS fans are used to having a pass rush. Their used to having thier line wreck havoc since Lawrence Taylor.

What we think it’s not what they think. Throwing away JPP is nothing to those fans. But it’s a big deal to us Bucs fans

  106. donuts Says:

Did you know JPP was the back flip champ of USF?

    See here: https://youtu.be/V4-1e6Faglw

  107. Lamarcus Says:

Interesting to see how JPP performs and GMC fanbase roots for him more. GMC might start crying again…..😭😭😭

  108. DB55 Says:

They need to bring back Ayers.

  109. DB55 Says:

JPP should wear #97 just to mess with our heads.

  110. BigHogHaynes Says:

Don’t you think it’s about time GMC got somebody to play with! STAY O THE BLACK TRUMPMAXCON!!

  111. adam from ny Says:

    jpp 10 sacks, gholston 4, curry 6, spence 8, mccoy 8, = 36 sacks

this team can potentially double their sacks from last year…

    possibilities, possibilities, possibilities…!!!

  112. Oneilbucs Says:

    Let’s bring in e. Reid.

  113. DanBucsFan Says:

It is March 2020. The Bucs have just come off of their latest Superbowl win. Tampa Bay is still soaring from all of the celebrations.

The Bucs are going to have to make some room in their cap space big time. They are going to be forced to jettison some major contributors from their championship team. Gerald McCoy is contemplating retirement according to published reports.

No matter what happens some fans are going to howl! What would you do if you were Licht and the brain trust? ….. ?

    _______________
    Go Bucs!!!!

  115. adam from ny Says:

this team on paper should have 45 sacks this year…just saying

  116. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Tmax thank you for proving my point. You are not a Bucs fan. Have fun crying about Bortles on the Jags fan site for the next few years.

  117. Pa bucs fan Says:

Good move. 3rd round picks arnt a guarantee, atleast we know what we got with this trade for a few years.

Also some of u so called fans, suck and are annoying to listen to. Go cheer for a differ team.

  118. adam from ny Says:

you can attach the word “freak” to jpp…that is what you want in a de…he is a little old…so he’s an old freak…a freak will free up all your other linemen too, and make life easier for all to get to the qb…

and watching tape on chubb – he is definitely not a freak at all…he’s a bust in the making – bet on it

  119. adam from ny Says:

now we have to find one more freakish de in the draft…that is the goal…we have all the big burly guys we need…one young freakish end needs to be added to the mix, and a healthy spence could make for a quicker fix that originally anticipated

  120. GhostofSchiano Says:

Starting to wonder what Smitty told Licht in whatever meeting to blow up the D-line like he has done. Mr. Licht (no longer calling him Jason Gump) has done just that, (minus the one player immensely critiqued by Tmaxcon and a few others) in addition to injecting some youth along the D-line. I think the Coup de grai would be signing SUH. Look at that front –

    Curry – SUH – GMC – JPP

Love to watch that on a Sunday afternoon at Raymond James, yes indeed.

  121. Bossmode Says:

I’m sure the patriots fan not complaint about a 3 rounder they gave up for Danny Shelton

YEA TMAX GET RID OF MCCOY NOW THAT WE GOT SOME HORSES MAKES A LOT OF SENSE MAN YOUR SHOT LIKE A 12 gauge my man I’m sorry

  127. Defense Rules Says:

Good pickup IMO, but right now is NOT the time to sit back & say “We’re home-free”. Quite the contrary. Losing that 3rd could come back to bite us in the butt come draft time. Assuming that we stick with the 4-3 defense, Bucs still need … for starting positions … 1 DT & 1 CB. And on offense, 1 LG & 1 RB. That’s 4 starters (possibly 5 unless folks want Conte or Tandy to start at SS). Finding starter-quality players in Rnds 4-7 is anything but a sure thing, but that’s where all but 2 of our picks are now.

Thus far in FA we’ve picked up 2 decent DEs (JPP & Curry) & a promising DT in Allen (still unproven as a starter IMO). Unless we add a starting-caliber DT who can command double-teams & collapse the pocket through the middle, I doubt that JPP or Curry will have beastly seasons. And unless we fix the starting CB situation, it’s hard to see why we should expect vastly different results there.

And oh ya, we still need to sign several backups & key rotational players. Full speed ahead Jason. Fill in the holes.

  128. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Joe Thomas thinks it’s a great move. That’s good enough for me lol.
    @DB55
Snacks is a run stuffer NOT. A pass rusher

  129. DBS Says:

Nobody knows what else Licht has up his sleeve. Could he have a player he will trade for draft picks? Is he working on a DB? It is still sit back, wait, watch and see.

  130. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

DR you really tthink Defensive Tackle is a need? Allen is a 2 down run stuffer. You take him out, slide Curry in and have Spence(hopefully) and JPP rush the edges. Just my take, love your opinions. I wouldn’t say DT is a need like CB or RB.

  131. webster Says:

Dont worry about need. Draft the best player available regardless of position

  132. Ed Says:

No matter what the long term outcome of losing that 3rd round pick is and the salary that JPP has, can anyone really come out and say that the Bucs defensive line is worse with these new players? JPP is a physical player and one who loves our area so he should be very excited about playing for a team that could be one of the turn-around stories like the Eagles/Rams and Vikings. Certainly isn’t going to be worse. Just from a strength, health, size and speed of JPP, this defensive line is bigger and will be more competitive than last years. You really have to be crazy to think the Bucs didn’t do some good things with this dline.

  133. DB55 Says:

Don’t matter DTs aren’t exactly designed to be pass rushers they’re supposed to stop the run primarily and snacks gets 3xs the tackles gmc does.

Like for example if gmc played the run better maybe just maybe we could have stopped gb, buff and Carolina or even Dallas last year is what I’m saying.

  134. Chris K Says:

Even after the great Rod Woodson says it’s gonna be a benifit for JPP to play along side McCoy, the genius that is tmaxipad takes another shot at the our only regular pro-bowler. Yes tmaxipad! You now know even more than a hall of famer in Rod Woodson. Give it up troll! Maybe three people on this site agree with you, probably because they have as little knowledge as you. Everyone else basically knows you’re a troll.

  135. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

LOL, word is that Tampa has petitioned the NFL to allow JPP to have the number M-80 on his Jersey

  136. Defense Rules Says:

Alaskan, yes I do think DT is a priority need. Allen will maybe get 50% of the defensive snaps, maximum. What makes guys like GMC & Suh so valuable IMO is that they don’t have to come off the field nearly as much as NTs do based on down/distance. If we do even an adequate job of stuffing the run, guess what happens. BINGO! Teams move to the quick, short passes & we’ve shown that we can’t stop those. We go through this same thing every single year … we add a piece or two, everyone gets giddy & it’s ‘SB here we come’. And every year we fall well short because we didn’t have a BALANCED TEAM … with depth … to start with. Pulling DEs into the interior isn’t the answer won’t be nearly as effective as adding another beastly DT.

  137. Pa bucs fan Says:

Yeah it’s gmc fault cherlis gave up 16 sacks vs dallas

  138. Pawel Says:

Our low sack total has lots to do with us playing Brees and Ryan which is 4 games no chance of a sack.

  139. Jim Says:

Whatever happened to Corny? He never used to talk like that…

  140. Dave Says:

I’m liking the DL moves so far.

A beautiful a dude edge rushing DE.
A big time run stopper DT.
and Curry… tons of potential as a pass rusher.
If Spence can stay healthy This line may have just become pretty damn good.

That said, if Bradley Chubb is available, they absolutely must draft him. He is a superstar waiting to happen.
I know they need DBs, but The top ones are safeties and I would take Chubb all day long.

I personally think they are going to take Minkah now and hopefully get Sony Michel in rd 2

  141. Dan Says:

    Great signing. Go Bucs

  142. MadMax Says:

Nice!!!! Now get Fitz, Ward or James…..Barkley and Nelson wont be there. Then trade down our 2nd and still land an O lineman and RB Penny.

  143. lambchop Says:

Giants getting two high pucks in the third is a good haul for them too. Gotta make the 2nd round pick we have count! Love the trade though. Both teams benefited.

  144. lambchop Says:

Gotta thank Fatty Baker for keeping the #90 warm.

  145. Bossmode Says:

The same people that was hoping we throw the kitchen sink to get ziggy if he hit the market mad about JPP when they similar players. They miss a few game and blow up in another. Good move either way the you can’t win games without talent. The hard part in coaching them to work as a unit.

  146. Duke Says:

    Lakeland,

Has it crossed your mind that it’s possible for the team to acquire an additional pick in the 3rd ?

The draft hasn’t started and it certainly isn’t finished so why is your estrogen levels topping out? Tomorrow if Jason stood at the podium and announced that Cleveland is trading a 3rd pick for 6 of biggest douche bag tamper fans and a 1000$ of diamond dollars would you be able to butch up a tad and pull your panties out of your lady parts? Or would you still squeal like a girl and claim we could have had 2 3rd picks…………

BTW, lots and lot’s of original thinking concerning trading down for additional picks………why hasn’t any one thought of trading up for additional higher probability picks? Is there something in the water in tamper ……or is buc fever,
Dirk strain, that’s preventing an original idea from falling out of some ones slightly damaged brain pan.

Cat skinning…….thing guys….pretty sure you can do it by more than one way.
Future capital spends just as well as current capital….this team has more holes than Bonnie and Clyde so many holes and just a few picks to fill them. It’s not going to happen if conventional wisdom prevails….

Dirk must snicker when He hears fans calling him out for lack of creativity.
    There’s nothing here to see….

  147. MattSpy05 Says:

McCoy has finally got his edge rusher…

At this point for the pass rush it’s put up or shut up.

Gotta admit, a Noah Spence, Jpp, McCoy pass rush looks pretty good.
