Has Jameis Lost His Charm?

March 14th, 2018

Solid play.

The last couple of years, especially last year, all Joe heard about was how America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, would recruit players to the Bucs.

Jameis would use his charms and his cult of personality to woo players into the Bucs’ fold. Shoot, DeSean Jackson even took a lesser contract from the Bucs so he could play with Jameis.

Joe heard from network sideline reporters how in their travels, Jameis may have been the most popular player among his NFL brethren. Joe was told grizzled veterans from other teams always made it a point to slap skin and bro-hug Jameis before a game.

Now, with the free agency dinner bell about to ring in eight hours, have you heard of any player being linked to the Bucs because of Jameis? Have you read or heard of any player Jameis has called or met with to recruit?

Joe is wondering if some of Jameis’ allure has dimmed. He didn’t have the greatest season last year, that’s for sure, injuries and all. His stunt in New Orleans with Marshon Lattimore didn’t go over well in league circles and NFL players across the league openly mocked his eating W’s.

So, with Bucs fans all glum over no free agents agreeing to terms with Tampa Bay, and fans having that empty glare one has when looking into the fridge and not finding any beer, Joe wonders if Jameis’ magic has worn off with potential free agents?

Winning is charming. win and they will come.

  2. KZ Says:

Not at all, I think these signings yesterday were discussed way in advance with the suitors who were willing to offer ridiculous sums of money. Offence is one OLineman, RB (both Draftable) and Kicker away from being All-Star, and there still are Dbacks and Dlinemen out there to improve and draft the rest. Trade down, stack up on offence and defense, and watch everything fall into place. No I didn’t take meds this morning 😛

  3. Capt.Tim Says:

    Yup.
The leagues players, like many reporters and NFL Management- have begun to doubt that Jameis has the decision making skills to lead a football team.

    On and off the field

    Wonderful

Meybe the Bucs should be looking at QBs. . .

  4. Jman Says:

    Tua 2020

  5. OrlandoJoe Says:

    KZ it’s “offense.”

  6. Bucn Enough Says:

    Capt Tim,

    You left off maturity …

  7. The Buc Realist Says:

Even J0E’s become more “glum” on JW3!!!!!!! When was the last time he posted the JW3 as jesus photo?????????

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. webster Says:

    Joe

Why write such a ridiculous article to feed idiots like capt tim? Now idiots like him will start the stupid notion the bucs didnt sign free agents because of jameis. Im sure trumaine johnson signed with jets because of josh mccown. Joe i cant believe it but you are in fact trolling with this article.

  9. AlteredEgo Says:

Oh at first I thought it said arm….

  10. Easy Says:

    Carlos Hyde to the Browns

  11. Joeypoppems Says:

With all the politics that were brought into football last season, I wonder if the Glazers hosting a Trump fundraiser could turn off some FAs.

  12. D-Rome Says:

Why would defensive players, which is what the Bucs need, come here to play with Jameis?

  13. Frank Pillow Says:

The crotch-grabbing allegations, coupled with the videos of his eating Ws and implying that girls are subservient to a group of school kids are bad looks…and they’ve certainly dulled his media and national exposure luster. That being said, he’s the only lipstick on this pig of a franchise. The real culprits here are the glorified scout running the front office and future mountain west HC calling the shots on the field. That and the fact that we have flat out SUCKED for a decade.

  14. D-Rome Says:

Dion Lewis likely going to the Titans.

  15. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Easy, really???? Wow man, the Browns really ain’t playing right now. They are going trying to win NOW

  16. miken Says:

I’d say Lict, not Jameis the reason.

  17. K_Bassuka Says:

It shouldn’t be up to him, they don’t come because the players don’t see our GM and coaching staff as capable of delivering a winner and don’t want to go through the upcoming house cleaning next year. Would you want to sign a contract that could be rescinded next year because our FO/Staff doesn’t have security or trust them enough to coach this team? That’s why they look at the team’s that have better chance to finish their contract with unless a sucky team gives them way more loot.

  18. tmaxcon Says:

Not even Jesus Christ himself could make the pathetic bucs organization desirable to anyone. thank you cancer93 and glazers

4-12 and basement streak alive that’s a bucs life… garbage owners with no intentions of fielding a respectable team

  19. Robert Says:

he’s all talk, the word is out…

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I also think the Uber incident has hurt him…..I’m certainly willing to give Jameis the benefit of the doubt unless there is more evidence…..but…..Jameis is stuck on stupid for even putting himself in that situation….with his past, he should have known that he was a target…..he has millions of dollars for a private driver…..just plain stupid. And I’m sure there will be posters that think he should have to be careful….but you are kidding yourself…..the situation proves otherwise.
If Darby was with him IMO this would have been settled long ago.

As far as his allure….he has all the weapons in the world and very little to show for it last year…..I think there probably is some left but it has certainly diminished.

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

should not have to be careful

  22. miken Says:

No one knows who the qb will be week one and no one knows who will be the coach next year so Tampa is option B for the top guys.

  23. Capt.Tim Says:

    Webster,
I know you are a stupid inbred F**k, but did you not understand the concepts of the Article. It wasnt complicated.
Last year, Both Desean Jackson and Adrian Petersen were quoted as saying they wanted to play with Jameis.
Absolutely no one is saying that this year.

Was that simple enough for you, our does you special needs teacher need to come draw it out in crayon?

You should go back and read all my post( or have that teacher read them to you) , meybe even your simple mind would start to understand a little about Pro football

  24. D-Rome Says:

garbage owners with no intentions of fielding a respectable team

    Amen.

It’s shocking to me there are those who are “totally confident” this team is going in the right direction.

  25. Richbucsfan Says:

JW Is an undisciplined, middle of the pack quarterback. Plus he is inaccurate and his passing. And, he will be suspended for up to six games this coming season. You think that will attract top-flight players? Hardly

  26. tmaxcon Says:

    D- Rome

I respect optimists but struggle with delusional dumbarses who defend this s!!t show franches blindly…

Accepting losing quietly does not make one a better fan.

  27. Alanbucsfan Says:

Fans and Joes are so used to Bucs organization doing things the wrong way-
trading top draft choices, letting draft choices leave in free agency and wasting cap money on free agent busts, that when the Bucs start doing things the right way – building through the draft and resigning their talent, you complain because they’re not doing the same crap that made them losers

  28. tmaxcon Says:

    Richbucsfan

Yet jw3 is still the best qb in franchise history and will easily go down as most important buc of all time… obviously outside of Sapp and salmon not much competition for title of greatest of all time.

Jameis has generated more offense than the entire failed dungy era

  29. Bird Says:

    Kudos to you Joe’s.

Lay off them. He is a Jameis messiah follower.

It’s funny All you crybabies just whining all day long. Complaining about everything bucs. But make a negative comment about Jameis and people are ready to revolt. Gimme a break.

Sure some players go to jets for the money. But if you don’t think players go to a team for a stud qb and leader , well you are wrong. Qbs win and lose games That’s why get 30 mil a year

  30. mark2001 Says:

Jameis is still showing the penchant for knucklehead behavior, regardless of how the uber ride turns out. And he hasn’t shown sufficient accuracy and consistent smart play on the field to install confidence in FA’s. And don’t forget the play of many of the new group of FA’s that have come into the league the last couple of years….Jameis is turning into just another average vet. Honestly, he may not even be the Bucs QB in a couple more year.

  31. tmaxcon Says:

    Bird

Raise your standards and stop trying to defend failure you look incredibly stupid doing so.

  32. Piratic Says:

The answer to that question, for me personally, is… yes.

I am thrilled that #3 is going to be a father soon, as I have maintained that when, not if, he becomes a man he’ll truly be a leader that can take us where we want to go, and that fatherhood should, if he’s the type of person that I think (hope) he is, accelerate his maturation process.

  33. tmaxcon Says:

The uber thing is 100% BS anyone with a half of brain can see that. The only idiots who wont let that go are same losers who rather lose 6 to 9 with a pathetic dungy disciple running a scared conservative team full of choirboys who accept losing quietly

  34. mark2001 Says:

Bird…take off the Pewter colored glasses. How many years in the NFC cellar will it take for you to know that the Glazers don’t know squat about running a football team? NOTHING has occurred to make anyone with any objectivity believe this team will be anything but a bottom feeder next year. Don’t forget to save the most stylish paper bag you can find to wear when you attend the three quarter full stadium by midyear next year, half of those attending in opposing team jerseys or Jaguar jerseys.

  35. 2Anglican1609 Says:

People with blinders on are now starting to see through the “Smoke & Mirrors” of Jameis . Low morals, average QB, and no accuracy on the long ball.

  36. tmaxcon Says:

    mark2001

No one welcomes and hosts visiting fans like
The mighty glazer clowns… visiting teams fans are the glazers core fan segment.

  37. SteveK Says:

When will we find out if Jameis gets suspended or not?

That definitely has an effect on FA decisions.

Tough to come for the QB who may be suspended, and a HC/GM that are lame ducks.

  38. Waterboy Says:

It’s not always about Jameis sometimes it’s more about the organization that causes the smart players to avoid the Bucs.

  39. firethecannons Says:

We need players like Kong Suh, Jameis doesn’t influence him.
At this point we need to make a statement, we have been buried in NFC south basement for a long time. We need the attitude Suh easily brings to every game, for God’s sake, Gerald McCoy was crying on the sidelines last season!
Locker room schlocker room– time for some attitude!

  40. mark2001 Says:

But tmax….the Glazers have big money…so that makes them smart and capable of running this organization, doesn’t it? Forget the bumbling track record of the last decade.

And Licht sure knows how to capitalize in FA, doesn’t he? Magic dartboard.
And his drafts are really impressing…right. Look at all the potential…counting on drug reformed player and paying him top dollar as a starter at key position after a multi-game suspension…ignoring DE’s desperately needed in the draft and FA…and the kicker situation? A league wide disgrace.

Koetter…Coach no disciple.. “I see nothing” Sgt. Schultz..can’t design a red zone offense to score with a grandma in a 99 to 1 female to male ratio assisted living facility…. but the players love him…that will win games.

And the cast of supporting characters….some good players, a boatload of underachievers, and some that shouldn’t even be in the league.

And nothing is changing….who wouldn’t be optimistic?

  41. Dooshlarue Says:

Maybe they don’t want to come to Tampa and fill up on all them W s?
    Hell, they might starve.

  42. Dooshlarue Says:

    @tmax

Please pump the brakes on the whole JW most important Buc of all time.
    Way too early for that.

  43. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

You got a coaching staff that will not be around past this year you have DJAX, who was a prized guy last year that is probably telling ppl stay away, then you have swaggy who prolly disses the bucs every second, of course this is not a destination for FAs

  44. ndog Says:

Wait guys didn’t know that Jameis is the reason for us having the 32nd ranked defense in the NFL? Or one of the worst kicking games in the league, or one of the worst running games in the league, or was switching out guards every other series, or signed Chris Baker, or hired Jay Hayes who the entire dline didn’t like, or stuck with a selfish running back all year, or rotated safeties all year, or didn’t play Godwin till the season was over? Come on guys we all know he controls every decision at One Buc Place, so OF COURSE he is to blame for other players not wanting to come to this complete disaster we call our football tea. Heck a bet you if we just kicked him to the curb all of our problems would go away. Right Joe?

  45. Bird Says:

    TMax wears a tiny thong

Keep calling people stupid and names and cancer 93 and glazer clown show.
You write the same thing over and over again. 20 times a day. ITs funny people agree with you from time to time. I’m sure it makes you feel amazing cause the rest of your life is meaningless

We’re you phallus buc before? I mean Dallas buc

  46. tmaxcon Says:

    Dooshlarue

Given the failed history of bucs including the dungy era outside of Sapp and selmon its not even close… he will be hands down the greatest buc off all outside of Sapp and salmon. Sapp only won 5 measly playoff games in his career . Selmon 1 playoff win… Sapp carried brooks lynch and the rest of the underachieving bucs… it won’t take long for jameis to surpass all but Sapp and selmon. Bad team for a very long time with 2 great players and some good coat tails riders.

  47. tmaxcon Says:

    Bird

Sorry about leaving the thong again at your house. I know I promised we clean up better before you got home… tell the wifey thanks again.

  48. Bird Says:

And trust me I am not happy about the state of bucs right now. They need to make some moves in free agency and have huge draft to improve.

I drive from Orlando for my season tickets and see that crap on the field. No free parking. Just raised my ticket prices. I’m pi$$ed too

Just don’t think Its necessary to cry and whine like the posters here on every article

  49. Bculaw Says:

Jameis can “pitch” all he wants, but he can’t bring in free agents if the team isn’t opening its checkbook. I don’t know if JW has any pull around the league or not, but it does appear that the Bucs are intent on moving forward with its current roster plus added draft picks. I hope they at least bring in a CB and some help on both lines, but it appears it will be through 2nd tier and depth signings rather than big names.

All that said, we better hope JW is the freaking messiah! The only way this team wins with its current defensive roster is by scoring 50 a game. That only gets done I JW turns into a miracle maker!

  50. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Breaking News this Free Agency Frenzy Wednesday…..Tampa Bay trades Jameis Winston to the Cleveland Browns for the #1 pick and choose Mickey Mouse. Licht, Smith and Koetter are going to Disney World!!!!!

  51. Bj_863 Says:

He’s not the owner/gm or coach he don’t need the charm they do

  52. Sierra048 Says:

I never for one second bought the BS line that the crotch-grabber was responsible for bringing FAs to the Bucs. Any FA that came to the Bucs came because of the $$$. Not because of the “FHINP” crab stealer.

  53. Jim Says:

Joe says whereas before players were saying they wanted to come to play with Jameis, now he’s not hearing that anymore. If you disagree, just cite some recent examples. Simple, right?

  54. webster Says:

    @ capt tim

Inbred? You are one of the known drump supporters on this site. Like i said, joe trolled your idiot @$$ and you took the bait hook line and sinker. You were so giddy to spew your stupidity and hate about jameis. You could not wait to spew your idiotic take. Right after your idiotic take, the admitted troll altered was right after with his. Hey idiot Tim, blame jameis because it cold in tampa. You know last year this time it was 85 degrees. You fool!!!

  55. Bucsfan1988 Says:

Hmmmmm, I wonder with Carlos Hyde going to Cleveland now, if the Browns are not interested in Saquon??? All the mocks had him going #1 lately ??? Wonder what the Browns have in mind? Trading out of the top spot or taking best QB available there?? The draft should be quite a riot this year, lol.

  56. 813bucboi Says:

FA’s don’t want to play for coaches on the hot seat!!!!!!!!!!….its not Winston….its dirk smitty and licht……until other players see we have “REAL COACHES” they’ll stay away from the bucs……simple as that….

    no urgency….no excuses!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  57. Jman Says:

    Tua 2020 !!

  58. Lamarcus Says:

It should be GMC luring some guys here. He is blameless and elite. 6 pro bowls why not him?

  59. tmaxcon Says:

    Lamarcus

You know the answer… real men don’t want to play with soft doll playing pansy asses lije cancer93. You can’t use a little boy to recruit men especially since the little boy is a career loser

  60. darin Says:

Players know who the good coaches are. Dirk lost his charm. Add in eating Ws and licht being frugile and this is what we get…crickets

  61. TOM Says:

This should be a make it or break it year for JW. For all the pissed off fans who want to get even with the idiot Glazers, DON’T go to the games. Save your money for more worth while things.

  62. Dooshlarue Says:

    tmax

I might put Derrick Brooks above Lee Roy and Sapp.

  63. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Winston, light and Derek will all be gone soon!

  64. bucs_365 Says:

Winston has better things to do than being chief recruiter.

  65. M0J0 Says:

At the end of the day, it’s a business and money talks, so FA signings or the lack thereof are squarely on the front office/ownership. I’m sure if Jameis feels like he has a shot at getting someone here that can help this organization, he will do his best to recruit them, because he wants to win.

  66. Walter Seidel Says:

Jameis never HAD that “allure” you refer to Joe. It was all in your head. Hell, you even alluded to that “allure” just last week yourself, regarding Jameis “recruiting” a top free agent!! Who really wants to be associated with all his crap?

  67. NFLNut Says:

Jameis isn’t going to have an impact on DEFENSIVE free agents signing with us and that’s what we need … if we needed a WR or TE this year, sure, but not defensive guys …

  68. Bucko40 Says:

The league and its players have figured out that Winston is all talk. Next to Bo Jackson, Winston will go down as one of the worst 1st round draft picks in Bucs history. All the red flags were there coming out of college both on and off Field and the Bucs chose to ignore them. The Ownership want to put FSU fans in the seats 💺. Just take a look a the Titans and they are attracting all kinds of quality talent. Titans GM Jon Robinson was smart enough to abandon the Bucs for a better Organization. Good luck Bucs fans your going to need all you can get just to reach 6 wins next season

  69. Bucko40 Says:

Where was Jameis during the Super Bowl? All I heard was players up there snoozing and recruiting out her players. Mariota was on several national broadcasts talking up the Titans. Was MCCoy or Winston out there doing the same thing. Never heard a whisper
