“Absolutely Disgraceful!”

January 25th, 2018

Outraged.

Warren Sapp is not a man known to hide his feelings.

And recently, something called Spectrum Sports (Joe’s a proud DirecTV guy) found the Hall of Fame defensive tackle and Bucs Ring of Honor inductee working out with college players prepping them for the combine and the draft. Sapp was asked what he thought of the Bucs defense and, in particular, the heinous pass rush (what edge rush?).

Sapp spewed fire!

“I’m lost,” Sapp said of watching the Bucs defense. “I’m lost like any fan — and I know defense when I am looking at it. It just doesn’t make sense.”

Then Sapp was asked about the pass rush. It looked like Sapp wanted to vomit on the floor.

“It really does not make sense what they are doing from a play-in, play-out basis,” Sapp said. “But, hey, someone is making a lot more money than me doing it [coaching]. So I am going to hope they can fix it because what we saw this year was disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful.”

Where exactly is Sapp wrong? He’s not.

The complete and total inability to come within a zip code of a quarterback was so putrid this season, Joe isn’t sure what surprised him the most: no chair from the owners’ suite being launched onto the field of the Den of Depression, or that the man/men directly responsible for this nightmare were apparently given passing grades in a pass/fail league.

Just think: Over $19 million for 2.5 sacks from Robert Ayers (two sacks), Swaggy Baker (half-sack) and Will Gholston (no sacks) — $19 million!

I’m at a lost too my friend. Disgraceful indeed! But it’s all Ayers and Bakers fault LMMFAO. BAKER AND AYERS 😉

  2. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Our best pass rusher went down at the start of the season. This was sad considering how the Jax players and others were raving about the camp Noah was having.

I like Ayers attitude but he’s simply not an impact player and perhaps he too was nursing too many injuries because he was not an impact player.

Gholston? As has been discussed here simply not a pass rusher.

But all of that is yesterday..and so what about ’18? Do we really want to plan on Noah’s shoulder healing? IMHO if Noah plays it will be an unexpected bonus.

So we have GMC and McDonald on our D line. That cupboard is bare!!!

  3. 813bucboi Says:

    incompetent coaching!!!!!…..

we have an offensive guru who offense averages less than the league average

a defensive guru who’s defense is ranked 32

    special teams suck

like sapp said…it absolutely disgraceful…..que the excuse mob!!!!…GO BUCS!!!

  4. DB55 Says:

    POLL QUESTION:

Should the Bucs go play in the XFL 2.0?

    Or

are the Bucs too important to the nfl as a farm team?

  5. Jimmy Says:

    >>>Should the Bucs go play in the XFL 2.0?

    Or

are the Bucs too important to the nfl as a farm team?<<<

No, but I know two or three Bucs defensive coaches that ought to working in that league.

  6. pewterpirate99 Says:

Well I was waiting to see when my dog was going to say something. I kept saying to myself through out the season, ” I bet Warren, Derrick, Simeon, John, and Ronde are throwing up in their mouths every time they watch this repugnant, putrid joke of a defense.” I’m glad he spoke out and not held anything back. Man I miss that guy LEADING our defense, hell LEADING the team. Take note Geraldine McSofty, that’s what a championship leader looks like, something you’ll NEVER be!

  7. DB55 Says:

No, but I know two or three Bucs defensive coaches that ought to working in that league.

    As equipment managers. 🥁

  8. darin Says:

Exactly. Now lets see bonzais excuse this time. Sapp cant be right, its gota be the lack of talent. We were all wondering what they were doing on a play in play out basis, except those who think all coaches are good and everything that goes wrong is on the players. And stpete..i disagree. I think our best pass rushers were playing linebacker. They werent hurt all year but they were in zone coverage watching completions. Man licht better find at least 2 pass rushers who can consistently get the qb off his spot or else itll be another disaster. Well assuming smith has his dbs playing closer. No DE can get there in under a second.

  9. C eh N eh D eh Says:

    warren sapp is disgraceful..

  10. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    DB55..LMAO!!!

I think they should instead be holding Gator-aid bottles instead..

  11. DB55 Says:

    Life

    Better yet!!!!!!

  12. Robert Says:

can’t wait for the XFL 2.0

    nfl is toast.

  13. SOEbuc Says:

I wanted Sapp and Simeon coaching the D-line together this year. But then they brought back all of their coaches for the same defense that the best DT of all time called “absolutely disgraceful.”

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

If your Defense is ranked in the leagues bottom five, and you are still praising and keeping your Defensive Coordinator giving him multiple excuses for his performance, then you should proudly continue that downward spiral. Koetter and Mike Smith came as a package and they will be…shipped out like one!! Its just sad Buc fans are gonna have to put up with a couple more seasons of misery and excuses.

  15. Dubcity06 Says:

Sapp would lead the team in sacks if he played right now. Cant teach anger and hunger. Id hire him honestly cause that attitude is infectious

  16. Dubcity06 Says:

Hire Derrick Brooks and Sapp next year after these coaches go 6-10. Calling it now

  17. BigHogHaynes Says:

Sapp is the truth, like it or not, it was that all-transforming scheme! Yet Coach Smith is still here…..here’s the thing, we gotta get about 3 picks on defence that shine from training camp through the season! TAKE A KNEE…KEEP AMERICA FREE… Let’s not MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN…BURN MAR-A-LARGO BURN!!

  18. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

The bucs are a dumpster fire, how do you retain a staff of losers with no hope for several years until new owners or new GM, this is just a bad situation in Tampa land similar to like when our 45th president took over and has super charged the economy and the people, lets MAKE THE BUCS GREAT AGAIN!!!

  19. 813bucboi Says:

darin says: And stpete..i disagree. I think our best pass rushers were playing linebacker.

    ^^BINGO^^

    and our best passer is a 34 LB noah spence…not a 43 DE…..GO BUCS!!!

  20. The Buc Realist Says:

This reminds me of back when the Tampa2 mafia went after a coach because they ran too many stunts, that the coaching staff was holding the Defense back and they should just set the D-line free!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!! and then they cheered when they got “their guy” in with loser lovie!!!!! and after the losses and terrible defense game after game, the Tampa2 mafia feel silent!!!!!!!!!

Tampa will always be restless unless they are running the Tampa and Monte Kiffen’s grandson or Dungy’s second cousin is running it!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a reason why the “New Rock” station in Tampa plays music from the 90’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Robert Says:

    S. Rice was the best pass rusher in money situations I have ever seen. Same with Sapp. Not sure if they could coach, but they would be invaluable as consultants if they have the ability to be there day in and day out and get into peoples faces and get some nasty back on the line. you can bet sapp would slap em around like an unpaid ooker

  22. D-Rome Says:

Tampa will always be restless unless they are running the Tampa and Monte Kiffen’s grandson or Dungy’s second cousin is running it!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s about time for you to put down the sauce for the day. Your inane ramblings had nothing to do with the article above. You seemed more coherent this morning, LOL.

Regardless, Sapp is 100% correct here.

  23. SmokeymountainBucsfan Says:

@BigHog Wtf? Could care less what FatA$$ has to say… This blog is giving him lots of love this past week. 2nd story in a week, tailgating wearing his Philly jersey, now this. Lol some moron said they wanted Sapp coaching the d~line…

  24. 813bucboi Says:

and then they cheered when they got “their guy” in with loser lovie!!!!! and after the losses and terrible defense game after game, the Tampa2 mafia feel silent!!!!!!!!!

LOL….funny…the dirk fan club did the same thing….

they roared and cheered when dirk was hired….cheered when dirk hired “his guy” smitty as DC….then the losing stated….we where unable to score points….horrible defensive games one after the other…..2 5 game losing streaks in 1 season…..then the dirk fan club started making excuses….HK…IRMA…injuries….talent…..tough schedule….lovie….dom….lol…and the list of excuses are still growing….lol….

luckily, this staff is starting 2018 on the “hot seat”….we all witnessed how they performed under adversity….this amount of pressure will be sure to bust their pipes….GO BUCS!!!!

  25. ManzielMadness Says:

Should’ve asked Sapp how he felt when Baker was caught laughing about how he blew the game.

  26. Nick2 Says:

Thank the lord one of the all time great Buccaneers came out and said this. Maybe Koetter and crew think all is fine in Buccaneer land but not making the playoffs in 17 years is not fine and the lack of pass rush is almost comical but as a fan I am not laughing. This coaching crew gets one more year to right the ship not sure they deserve it in any way.

  27. Nick2 Says:

Gerald McCoy is no Warren Sapp i will tell you that.

  28. Elvis In STL Says:

Can we hire this man as our D-Line coach already?!?!?!?! Call him a pass rush specialist or whatever… but get him in the locker room full time.

  29. AceofAerospace Says:

It’s bad enough to be the 4th best team in the NFC south, heck, we’d be the 4th best team in the SEC also.

  30. Not there yet Says:

We all loved Sapp because of how he took it to another level on the field, we were proud to have another one of our players in the hall of fame but I don’t think I’ve ever really appreciated him as much as I do this very moment. Pick up the phone glazers give him a call if you really want to know why it’s so disgraceful, they aren’t listening to us. since licht is not smart enough to do it call him and the guy is working with pass rushers about to come out in the draft

  31. Not there yet Says:

To bad he’s not dedicated enough to a job to be a coach on our staff

  32. The Buc Realist Says:

Sapp Says Bucs “Wasting Gerald McCoy”
    October 24th, 2013

Warren Sapp, a man who the Bucs will immortalize in two weeks, continues to pound the New Schiano Order relentlessly. This time on NFL Network.

Ouch. Joe can only imagine what Team Glazer is thinking when it hears this stuff.

Today, Sapp was merciless in his assessment of the Bucs’ defensive schemes. In addition to hammering Schiano on mis-using Darrelle Revis, Sapp offered the highest of praise for Gerald McCoy and said the Bucs aren’t getting the most out of him.

The funny part is that Was GMC93 best year!!!!!!!!

What the sheep do not “realize” is that there has been no d-line, The only reason there was success on the defense in 2016 ( not many bucs coaches can say that!!!!) was that NS57 was coming on so teams sent over the rb to double team which left a 5th rusher free!!!!!! That is why the sacs and pressure from the LB were so high!!!!!!!!!

Give Coach Smitty a Real DE, and watch this defense go!!!!!!!!!!

    2014 bucs defense 25.6 pts a game
2015 bucs defense 26.1 pts a game ( forth easiest schedule)
    2016 bucs defense 23.1 pts a game
2017 bucs defense 23.9 pts a game ( second hardest schedule)

That is why coaches get fired and some coaches you keep!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!

  33. GhostofSchiano Says:

After reading the article and all of the comments what everyone is saying is it is all up to Jason Licht to save the 2018 season………. God help us.

  34. Lamarcus Says:

    Joe

U forgot to add gmc “the 1 million a dollar game” man to list of dline.

  35. DB55 Says:

Just spoke to Kwon he said the pro-bowl practices are the toughest he’s seen in the pros and he can’t wait to bring back the same work ethics to buc practices in the spring and summer time. #GoBucs

  36. Pickgrin Says:

    “Absolutely Disgraceful!”

Yes Warren – I agree that your treatment over the years towards way too many people – most of whom were fans and admirers of your play just wanting to say ‘hey’ to an NFL legend and maybe get an autograph – was “absolutely disgraceful”.

Oh, you were talking about the Bucs Dline play?? well that too…

  37. Nick2 Says:

To The Realist…. if there has been no D Line please tell Jason Leicht to turn his credentials in at one Bucs Place pronto!! No excuses in 2018 please!!!!! Any GM can form something that might resemble an NFL line. We get a guy who can only make love to a palm tree. Un freakin believable!!!!!!!

  38. unbelievable Says:

Time to rename this place to DepressedBucsFans.com

  39. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The only thing left out of this article was “and we let Michael Bennett go for no good reason”

And….I suspect GMC should have had 12 sacks instead of 6……that would make up for everyone else’s lack of production…..

Licht relied on Noah Spence & Jack Smith……therein lies the mistake.

  40. 813bucboi Says:

To The Realist….No excuses in 2018 please!!!!!

    ^^BINGO^^

    GO BUCS!!!!

  41. Bucsfanman Says:

1st, Does it really take Warren Sapp to tell us this?! It’s not even worth talking about at this point.
2nd, Enough with the “I told you so’s”. Whatever Smith you want to discuss failed/is failing MISERABLY!
3rd, it’s a TEAM game and there are 4 d-linemen on the field at a time. We are AWFUL! WE, not THEY, not HIM…….WE!!!

    #BuildtheTRENCHES, #99@DLcoach

  42. Dark Mominick Says:

Havent drafted a defensive lineman in the 1st round since 2011 and it shows. Even though AC wasn’t a world beater when he was healthy he would play nasty. Let him and Michael Bennett go for no reason. Oh yeah also drafted a safety thats better at lb. Traded away a 1st round pick for one season of a cb that we got zero value from which u guessed it we let go for no reason. ONly reason he ws needed was because talib was let go for popping adderall (who cares.) Schiano and lovie really messed this team up.But dom and licht have failed us too. Decided to replace legarratte blount fpr no reason who is still running hard to this day for a hamster that only had a handful of games where they broke 100 yards and is now on empty. Drafted a kicker in the second round too that we also let go for nothing. Id say sign michael bennett, aqib talib, legarrette blount if u can get him from the eagles. Only way to right the wrongs of the past. Id say get revis back too but he looks done now. Just gotta draft dline early often. Everson griffen went in the 4th round of 2010 when he was projected as a 1st round pick but we’d rather waste picks on myron lewis.

  43. Robert Says:

xfl is on as of today baby. Any one of the teams they field could probably beat the bucs out of the gate.

why? because they will play for the game, not their *cough* legacy.

    bring it!

  44. Dark Mominick Says:

I remember 2010 was suppose to be such a huge draft lol. GMC, brian price, benn, mike williams, ( never draft a wr with that name!) myron lewis, brent bowden, xavier fulton, ej biggers. What a crap shoot. Lichts looking like hes doing a little bit better. But bottom line when u look at how we have drafted over the last few years its down right dreadful. Just draft dline this year please so that maybe one of the picks hit. Really hoping the chawks and lions are dumb so that we have chance at ansah and sheldon richardson.
Instead of revis we could have lotuleilei, kawann short, sheldon richardson.
Instaed of clayborn we could of had cam jordan. Just pure foolishness on the front offices part. I know joe thinks martin is done but i think hes just protecting himself so he can play meaningful football somewhere else cuz until the bucs front office proves its not dumber than a door knob this team will never prosper again. Free agents only come here for the money and it doesn’t take long for them to realize they’re better off some place else.

  45. 813bucboi Says:

    @realist…..

when are you going to get tired of making excuses for this staff….smitty in particular…..good coaches have done more with less….

    perfect example: the eagles

they have 2 current/former pro bowlers in fletcher cox and Malcolm Jenkins….they have 1 2nd team all pro in Brandon graham…..

they have 2nd rounders…4th rounders….7th rounders and UDFA’s as starting on their defense…..

the difference maker is coaching…..jim schwart puts his players in position to be successful….he also knows how to develop players….

for example: Brandon graham was a 1st round pick in 2010 and was considered a bust until schwart coached him up, played to his strength and put him in position to be successful….then he was named to 2nd team all pro in 2016….that’s called COACHING!!!!!….it aint the players…..its the lack of coaching….#NOEXCUSESIN2018…..GO BUCS!!!!!

  46. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @Nick

I’m not sure I get your point? Nobody says that GMC is Warren Sapp. In fact there is no NFL DT currently playing who is Warren Sapp.

Sapp is in the HOF!!! There are no HOFer’s on the Bucs right now. A couple perhaps could make a run if they have a LONG career but it’s so unfair to compare anybody to the player who was one of if not THE greatest DT to ever play the game.

There is no dishonor for GMC in the realization he’s not HOF much less one of the GREATEST DT’s of all time.

  47. Arealbucsfan Says:

Make a trade for jadaveon clowney? Idk I’m grasping at straws here

  48. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Dark Mominick

Only about 3 players left from the dominik years, and that was only 4 seasons ago!!!!!! The straw house that talk show host dominik built has been exposed!!!!!!!!!!

It has been a complete rebuild since talk show domnik days!!!!!!!!

    Keep building!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!

  49. SOEbuc Says:

I think Sapp would be a real good D-line coach. I mean…it’s Sapp. His attitude and game play is just soo f-ing mean. How bout next year’s defensive coaches = Brooks at LB, Sapp and Simeon at D-line, Ronde at DB lol. All the prime players from one of the best defenses of all time. BUT WHERE IS MONTE?!!! Dungy would be great for DC. BUT NO TAMPA 2 UNLESS YOU GUYS CAN REALLY MAKE IT WORK AGAIN.

  50. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

Fellow bucs fans. this is what i know. find a way to get belichick. Pay him double Gruden. That’s the only way to win consistently in this league. Super bowl appearance in 7 of last 15 seasons. there is more or less absolute parity in the league in terms of player talent. There is nothing close to it in coaching. The bar has been set. It’s not going 9-7, it’s not sneaking into the wild card. it’s not winning your division. the bar my friends is set at winning the conference at least every other year. everyone else is a bystander. why have a league if someone is so clearly better than everyone else.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  51. SOEbuc Says:

    @99,97,92, wtfe…

Belicheate two times as much as Gruden?!! How bout HELL NO!!! Let’s think of a couple things.

    1. Had one of the best QBs ever for all those playoff and SB appearances.

    2. AFC East= Pats, Bills, Dolphins, Jets
NFC South= Saints, Chix, Panthers, Bucs

  52. Destinjohnny Says:

Cool we get a new coach and all those guys will get 10 sacks???

  53. Nick2 Says:

I love the Belichik idea!!!!! Then I woke up and remembered that the Glazers were our owners. The Glazers who make a valiant effort in every bidding war but never seem to bring home the prize. Hmmmmm cant imagine why.

  54. Defense Rules Says:

@813bucboi … “when are you going to get tired of making excuses for this staff …. smitty in particular….. good coaches have done more with less …. perfect example: the eagles.”

The only one making excuses bucboi is you. And the ones you’re continually making excuses for, without even mentioning their names, are Jason Licht & the Glazer Boys. Serious question (and forget this All-Star player crap): How many Bucs’ players would make All-Pro, decided by the league’s coaches & other players. And let’s say that to make All-Pro you’d have to be considered in the Top-2 in the league at your position. Want my guess? ZERO. And not because they play on a crappy team, but because from a TALENT & PERFORMANCE perspective, most of these guys aren’t really that good. Why? Because Jason Licht & the Glazer Boys don’t give a hoot about TALENT. They care about the bottom line, and that’s spelled $$$. They could’ve easily signed Calais Campbell & any number of other FAs if they’d really wanted, but instead we get Fatty Baker & a worn-out TJ Ward. Whoopee.

We both know who’s responsible for providing TALENT to the Bucs’ offense, defense & STs. Bingo, Jason Licht. Guy has tunnel vision when it comes to building a T-E-A-M. And who’s paying the price? Well, in actuality we fans are, but so are the coaches. Don’t know what the odds are on who’ll win when a 240 lb DE goes against a 320 lb LT, but over time I’d probably put my money on the LT. Same thing with a 225 lb MLB meeting much bigger FBs & RBs in the hole, and 5’9″ corners trying to cover 6’5″ WRs & TEs. People talk about wanting a bad-ass team, but that’s almost humorous at this point.

And BTW bucboi, your example about the Eagles’ is bogus. Their DLine consists almost entirely of 1st & 2nd round picks. Jim Schwartz is an excellent DC, but he’s got a helluva lot more to work with than Smitty does.

    o DT Cox (14 games … 5.5 sacks … drafted 2012 Rnd 1 by Eagles)
    o DT Jernigan (15 games … 2.5 sacks … drafted 2014 Rnd 2 by Ravens)
    o DT Allen (15 games … 1 sack … drafted 2014 Rnd 7 by Eagles)
    o DE Graham (15 games … 9.5 sacks … drafted 2010 Rnd 1 by Eagles)
    o DE Curry (16 games … 3.0 sacks … drafted 2012 Rnd 2 by Eagles)
    o DE Barnett (15 games … 5.0 sacks … drafted 2017 Rnd 1 by Eagles)
    o DE Long (16 games … 5.0 sacks … drafted 2008 Rnd 1 by Rams)

  55. Nick2 Says:

True, Jason Licht just brings the Glazers the 2nd tier talent that nobody will bid for and that usually are washed up or have some hidden deficiency like “lack of effort” or “well hidden shoulder issues.” That way they keep payroll low each year. Glazer boys must cringe each time they raise the mandatory floor to the salary cap! Oh no now Jason has to go scrounge up some more dredges that we can pass for NFL top tier players!!!

  56. Rod Munch Says:

Sign Sapp and Rice, even at their age they clearly would be a huge upgrade over what we have outside of McCoy.

  57. BucEmUp Says:

Can’t sack the q.b with a wide open secondary before the ball is.snapped.

I can’t count on both hands and feet how many times I saw our dba playing further back than the third down marker.

YOUR GONNA TELL ME.THATS NOT BAD COACHING???? GTFOH!!!

  58. Lord Cornelius Says:

“There is a reason why the “New Rock” station in Tampa plays music from the 90’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Dude that’s every “New Rock” station around the country lol. They’re all owned by one company and play the same mix tape from late 90s / early 2000s. It’s absolutely insane / sucks

  59. AlteredEgo Says:

Wow….what a long shiiity off season this is going to be….imagine what it will be like this time next year

  60. Defense Rules Says:

BucEmUp, can’t sack the QB with a beaten-down DLine either. Instead of bemoaning how far DBs played off or about ‘poor defensive coaching’, focus instead on the defense giving up 24 PPG average on the season. Had our vaunted offense scored 25 PPG each game on the season, Bucs’ record would’ve been 10-6 … and we would’ve made it into the playoffs. We would have beaten the Panthers TWICE, the Saints ONCE & the Falcons ONCE. And BTW, 25 PPG instead of 21 PPG is only the difference between scoring a TD and settling for a FG. Gonna tell me that’s not do-able? So ya, you can say the defense sucks if you want & skewer Scapegoat Smitty, but please put a little objectivity (OK, balance) into your attacks.

  61. Tampabaybucfan Says:

OK…Here are the players that haven’t worked out for whatever reason…but going forward we will have none of them.

Revis, Banks, Martin, ASJ, Price, Clayborne, Aguayo, Barron, Bowers

Now, that’s 9 players from the first & second round that won’t be helping us next year……2011-2017 6 years……

I haven’t even checked on the 3rd rounders…..to depressed to continue.

No wonder we are struggling to win.

  62. 813bucboi Says:

    DR

the only thing bogus are you, @realist and all the excuses yall make for this staff!!!!!!

    try listing the entire defense……

    EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  63. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Now, 6 of the 9 players listed are defensive players……so instead of whining, bitching and blaming one of the few players who is producing for us (GMC)….how about admitting that this is really the root cause of our problems.

  64. JimmyJack Says:

I’m not going to say we don’t need more talent but there’s defientaly more to it then just that. It’s not even just about sacks we can’t get hurries or hits either which is a huge factor as well.

You look at our Ends play and no they are not talented but they don’t even look like they have enough talent to be in the league. This boils down to leadership and preparation IMO. Why exactly can’t we take advantage of a matchup once in a while and have an End play a decent game? Why can’t we exploit something they run on offense and “luck” into a few more sacks during the season……or more hurries or hit.

This line just doesn’t know how to prepare for a game and the coaches aren’t giving them any advantage in the film room.

How many tackles did we face on our schedule this year? I can’t see get beat by just about every one of them and say that coaching or leadership deserves no blame……..There’s a reason why our linebackers make a lot of plays out there…….and even if Kwon goes down a guy like Glanton steps in and plays well…..maybe not making huge splash plays but looking well prepared for sure. That’s because we have leadership from that position and they make damn sure their backups are prepared for game days…….Don’t know who our LB coach is but maybe he’s a big part of it too.

This is why fans are calling for the 3-4 switch……Get a guy like Spence with those LBers and see what happens. And yeah I know he made a decent stat line in his games but he doesn’t get the hurries and hits and gets owned for stretches at times IMO.

Give that Dline one less player on the field because they don’t deserve it. They enter gamesdays unprepared for their competition and they are not making nowhere near enough plays as a collective unit………And I also don’t mind trading up for Chubb since his bio says he is a leader. The difference he could make might be just what this team need.

Yeah yeah hashtag fix the trenches……..not sure they know how without superstar talent at end and it doesn’t have to be that way IMO

  65. JimmyJack Says:

    **end rant**

  66. JimmyJack Says:

End rant……wow I just blew my own mind

  67. 2Anglican1609 Says:

And let’s not leave out GMC with 6 sacks and an average salary for 2017 of 15 million. In which he was part of the Sh– D line also

  68. DB55 Says:

    Jimmy

Even with superstars it won’t matter. Koetter has 3 perennial pro bowlers and a hof’er on offense in ATL and still couldn’t get it done.

I agree DB55….. but I hope we are both wrong.

Reguarding needing superstars on defense Dirk is on record saying he doesn’t meddle with the defense. What kind of garbage coach doesn’t meddle with half his team?

I seen Joe running accountability articles but didn’t read all of them. Wonder if this was included……..though it’s impossible to mention all the accountability issues with this team in just a few articles

And nothing is going to change this new year. At best we add a DE that will grow into the league in a couple of years. So what do you expect?

    Jimmy

I’m never wrong. A gift and a curse.

I’d love to have some of what a few of you are smoking.

What makes anybody believe Bill Belechick would help us at all. He’s had this dance before trying to fix the Cleveland Browns.

How did that work out? Belichek had losing records four of the five years he was in Cleveland. He was a major LOSER. What makes anybody so sure Belicheat would do any better the the Bucs. He can’t bring Brady with him and even if he could Brady is getting old.

Bill Belicheat was 5-11 in his fifth and final year with the Browns. Gee haven’t we already achieved that record?

  73. JimmyJack Says:

St Pete………Your post is extremely devoid of context on that one.

In short that final year he coached the Cleveland Brown was one of the most devestating situation, arguably, in the history of sports.

Yet there was a reason the Patriots hired him and that was because he built a legitimate contender and a team that went on to win a title with many of the pieces he set up.

He set out to fix the Cleveland Brown and was absolutely successful. Nothing he can do when the owner literally ripped the heart out of that city. Absolutely the dirtiest thing that’s ever happened in the NFL. Nothing else even comes close.

  74. USFBUC Says:

The Bucs issues are all of the above so everyone is basically right. Ownership who don’t seem to care, misses on draft picks, letting solid players walk away, bad coaching, and bad players.

@Joes – I wonder if you couldn’t get in depth about the types of players the Bucs staff look for. I have seen interviews and articles about other teams and finding players that fit their system but I have never heard anything about the Bucs and the type of players they need for their system. Is that because the Bucs don’t have a system like that? For example, some teams specifically draft and sign taller CBs to compete with the tall WRs the NFL is now filled with.

    JimmyJack

Not sure what context you are talking about. The Bucs and the Browns have BOTH suffered from bad management…I thought that was the perfect context…comparing two of the worst franchises historically over the past two decades…we at least had one run with a SB.

And so if he set out to turn around the Browns I’m not sure how you give him a passing grade. He had ONE winning season out of FIVE winning 11 games.

His last season with the Brownies he started 3-1 and then cut Kosar (a hero in Cleveland) who went to the Cowboys in time for a SB win. Again Belecheat finished that season 5-11…a Bucs type season.

Overall with the Browns…contextually a team the compares favorable to the Bucs situation he had ONE winning season and FOUR losing seasons. He would have never gotten a chance for the one winning season with the Bucs because we usually fire our coaches after two losing seasons.

His overall record in Cleveland… 36-44 with five years to make a difference.

BTW I’ll concede that Art Modell was the biggest scumbag in perhaps the history of the NFL. Yeah I believe he was worse than even Culverhouse. But five years is five years. Belicheat lucked into Brady….did he pick him highly and count on him…nah…6th round…amazing eh…and Belicheat was obviously not the only NFL type to totally miss on Brady. But Belicheat was the lucky one who had his QB go down and then “discovered” Brady.

I give Belicheat and Brady a ton of respect. I just do not assume he could do in Tampa what he couldn’t do in Cleveland…unless of course he LUCKED into perhaps the all time greatest QB.

  76. JimmyJack Says:

The 5-11 season is where you lose context was my point.

The truth about that franchise was that Belichick took a bad team and built a winner. Then the owner cut the heart from that city……Are you saying that Art Modell doing that to the team didn’t play part in that 5-11 Mark. If you do I just disagree……Then the team that he started to build went on to win a SB.

There is plain and clear success with the way that team was built back in the 90’s……..It was also a much different scenario then what we have in the league now where you see teams go worst to first most every year and teams being built in 2 years. Back then it took a bit longer.

Any Browns fan I ever talked to about it saw it that way……Maybe try them for more info? Jaded Bucs fans aren’t always the best source for discussing what good team management looks like.

  77. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

A lot of teams are suffering from a shortage of elite pass rushers. Hitting in the draft on a future stud DE is like landing a rare elite future franchise QB. The Bucs have drafted on average around 4th and 5th rounds on D.E. and most have all been projects. Maybe we should aim for earlier rounds to draft that franchise DE

  78. Rod Munch Says:

StPeteBucsFan is literally one of the worst posters in the history of anything. Last year on Campbell he said the Bucs shouldn’t be signing old guys like that to big deals, that Gholston at $7-mil was a much better deal. LOL!
