You Just Knew It

December 24th, 2017

Fate pretty much sealed.

This was the final stamp of Mike Smith’s days with the Bucs.

If the Bucs’ defensive coordinator returns, it means he has some damaging goods on Team Glazer.

Yeah, Smith and his defense did a good job today with hurt players all over the place. Yet when the Bucs needed to close the game, needed one stop, you and Joe and the guy walking down Central Avenue in a white cane could see it coming. The Bucs were going to gag away a lead.

And they did.

Four of the last seven starts by America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, the Bucs either had a lead or had the game tied in the fourth quarter, only to see the defense puke on the field.

And today was no different. When Patrick Murray missed a field goal, the Stinking Panthers took over with three minutes left, you just knew — you just knew! — Cam Newton was going to march Carolina down the field for a game-winning touchdown. And that’s just what happened.

At least it wasn’t as bad as three-plays, 75-yards by Tyrod Taylor.

Mike Smith should get a head start tonight when the Bucs’ plane lands; he can start packing up his office. That way he won’t waste any time next week when his One Buc Palace access card is deactivated. Because he is a goner.

Unless he has gotten over on Team Glazer.

I could have sworn I saw DC Smitty ask the waitress in the pressbox for…another order of Nachos!!

  2. DB55 Says:

Gmc gives up the booty on the goal line on 4th and 1 AGAIN it’s all Winston’s fault? You guys are absolutely Bay chit crazy.

    #ProBowl

  3. DB55 Says:

Watch the replay and GMC is standing there watching cam score like he doesn’t want to get dirty. Lose gmc and you win more games simple as that.

No coincidence that on the previous play when he wasn’t in they held the line then got fckd by the refs per usual. Gmc is a cancer and must be removed.

  4. JameisDungy Says:

Winston is rotting away under Dirk and Licht.

Jameis just makes it easy to blame him with his outburts.

Koetter is a college head coach. Licht….LOL

  5. DBS Says:

And as usual it was fg to start. You knew then it would come back to bite them.

  6. Red86 Says:

At some point the blame need to be on the players with costly penalties. Also Star players no where to be found in the clutch. Just saying.

  7. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Whoever is laying blame on Jameis is a fool

in the last four weeks Jameis Winston is 95 of 132 (71%) for 1,221 yards 8 TDs 2 INTs and the Bucs are 0-4, the four losses by a combined 15 points…

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

At the quick step..Gruden readies his staff…………..

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I hate to say it but I think Mike Smith is gone now

  10. D-Rome Says:

How about those 19 points the Bucs put up today?

    Totally Confident, right guys?

  11. DB55 Says:

The Bucs were going to gag away a lead.

  12. Bucs68 Says:

21-27, 367 yards. With horrific pass protection and no rush offense.

  13. buc4life Says:

They probably already removed his parking spot already. He can car pool with baker til next week.

  14. Bucssuccs Says:

Jameis acted like a 3 year old at the end. You’re gonna cost us penalties by the way you’re acting. Also, I understand Jameis played a statistically good game, but his weekly game-ending fumbles and turnovers have got to go. PewterReport is riding Jameis’s jockstrap too hard to realize that

  15. FFS Says:

    GMC didn’t fumble three times

  16. Broy34CantBelieveTheStupidity Says:

Bye bye Mike and Dirk. Time to begin the Gruden regime. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

  17. Sydney Says:

FIGHT IN THE LOCKER ROOM! IT’S ON THE RADIO BROADCAST!

  18. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Why does Dirk Koetter soil himself in the Red-zone?

I swear this is the worst offense within 20 yards of the end-zone in the entire league. And that’s on Dirk.

  19. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Mike Smith and fatty Baker are both give themselves high fives

  20. TheBucsAnthem Says:

cuz Jameis is a clown he’s not a franchise QB

  21. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    I don’t have my radio who’s fighting

  22. Bucs68 Says:

If a QB is hit on 65 % of his drop backs you will have fumbles.

  23. AlteredEgo Says:

Knee jerkers….the Bucs have played very good football the past 3 games….there are obvious talent holes on both sides of the line…..
GM/HC/DC all stay one more year
    Patience Coach Hoppers

  24. Kansas95Buc Says:

You heard it here first, it’s going down in the locker room right now, a bunch of the players are going at it in the locker room. It sound pretty bad in there

  25. Kansas95Buc Says:

They were trying to interview David but he had to go calm some guys down and the radio broadcast went to commercial

  26. Wesley Says:

It’s better that they lose, let’s be real.

  27. orlbucfan Says:

Oh boy, here come the GMC trolls. Hey Joes, can I be one and you pay me? I missed most of the game cos I attended a Xmas ballet.

  28. Buc believer Says:

    Bye Bye loser!!!!

  29. darin Says:

Offense played well, defense played well, special teams blew it. Sign of a bad team and bad coaching. Thats what good coaching does for you, all you who think this bucs team sucks because talent level. By good I mean rivera. His offense is sucking so he calls the fake punt because of film study. Adios dirk, smith, any all the rest. N yeah we all knew smiths d was gona blow it at the end.

  30. JonBuc Says:

Smiley Smith the silver fox is ready for Shady Acres Retirement Community in Sarasota and a handsome severance. Keep smiling, Smitty!

  31. GhostofSchiano Says:

Fight in the locker room….someone ate swaggys moon pies…all 32 of them.

  32. Rod Munch Says:

Said it before, but don’t run Mike Smith out of town, promote him to head coach and demote Dirk to just being the OC – then hire a real DC to take Smith’s place.

Seriously, do that. Dirk is not head coaching material, meanwhile Mike Smith has a proven record. Dirk has value, he’s a very good OC, but he stinks as a HC. Smith meanwhile has value as a HC, he stinks at DC.

Just fix the problem… yeah I know you can’t do that because it might hurt Dirk’s feelings, blah blah blah. He’s getting paid in any case so figure out how to make the titles work, but move Dirk into the box as the HC/OC coaching from the box, and make Smith the assistant head coach from the sideline or some other BS title.

If you’re not going to do that then next season will look just like this season, with Dirk getting out coached in every game, calling terrible games from the sideline where he doesn’t see the field well and seemingly never having all three aspects of his team prepared.

Last year the Bucs won all the close games, this year they lose all the close ones, what that means is when you get back to mean they’re like a 7-9 team under Dirk.

  33. JimmyJack Says:

Good teams know how to close out games…….Losing by one score does not put you in a good team category……..We are a bad team that can’t close out games……..It doesn’t matter if you need the defense to close it out, offense, special teams or coaching.

Today at the end of the fourth all of those had a chance to close this thing out and it was…….choke, choke, choke, choke……….Dirks team choked last year when playing for a wild card. They choked when up big vs Oak last year. They have choked twice in Arizona, once in Minn., once in Buf, once against the former Champs at home and they are choking in most every game to finish out this season……….This team has no confidence no clutch ability and no player willing to step up when we need to close out a game. The ability to rise up is contagious and so is the ability to choke……..Ever notice that Patrick Murray is an accurate kicker but only if the kick has no pressure? This is not a coincidence this is a contagious affect we have from a mentally weak group of players that deep down know they just are not good enough.

I’m fed up with this team endlessly choking and never having any winning attitude to ever close out a close game……..If you don’t have the players(ie Sapp, Brooks) to demand accountability and performance to win freaking ball games then you will never win when your coach can’t get it done either.

Get a real coach in here that will instill confidence in these players. His team is mentally weak and has been since he took over……..We had the ability to beat the Panthers today, no excuse to underperform and choke another game.

  34. GhostofSchiano Says:

Fight in the locker room, smitty slapped Milo and she’s kicking his arse

  35. SOEbuc Says:

Fist fight in the locker room: Jameis vs Smitty lol.

  36. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Smith has to be out. Koetter should stay but it looks like Chucky is about to be back. He is already putting his staff together per reports. This would be a terrible decision. He is a mediocre coach who won with Dungy’s team and then once he built his team we became a .500 team. This is not acceptable and is something most fans and possibly the owners seem to be ok with.

Keep Koetter and sign a new OC and DC. Our guys are still fighting and playing hard. They are playing for their coach so he should get to stay but we need a full time OC calling the plays

  37. Season Is Over Says:

This was the defense we know and have come to love. Tiny Tim could run through that DL.

  38. DB55 Says:

Somebody order a code red on gmc. It’s about time.

  39. Joel Says:

I actually knew it when our head coach played not to lose so he could kick a long FG and put the game in the hands of a head case kicker instead of his QB.

    Koetter has to go.

  40. Defense Rules Says:

@Bucs68 … “21-27, 367 yards. With horrific pass protection and no rush offense.” So what you’re saying is that the OLine REALLY sucked today … no pass protection OR run blocking AND some critical penalties … but that Jameis came through anyways and had some great stats regardless. Problem is that there are other stats that paint a more damning picture: 22-19 final score. And oh ya, FOUR FGs on drives, when if just 1 FG had been a TD instead then the Bucs would’ve won the game. Good thing those 3 fumbles had no effect on his stats or the game’s outcome. Oh wait …

The sorry OLine was brought to us all courtesy of … yup, Jason Licht. Same GM who disregarded the DLine in favor of lesser priorities. Same GM who brought us Fatty Baker instead of … aah, never mind. Just fire Scapegoat Smitty and be done with it. Until next year that is.

  41. BUCMAN Says:

I REALLY THINK THE BUC’S SHOULD FIRE JASON LIGHT, AND SMITH, AND BRING A PROVEN COACH , NOTHING LESS, AND KEEP DIRK KOETTER BECAUSE THE FANS ARE NOT GOING TO FALL FOR THE BANANA IN THE TAIL PIPE TRICK NO MORE , WE ARE TIERD OF GETTING THE RAW END OF THE DEAL…….

  42. Rod Munch Says:

Gruden isn’t coming back… give it up people. Gruden is all about getting attention for himself, and so long he has a contract to sit in the MNF booth and have his face all over TV, that’s what he is going to do. Gruden never shoots down any rumors because he just wants people talking about him – and this is no different.

Also if we want to pull someone out of retirement, then go after Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy. Also for the record, Dungy won playoff games AFTER the 2002 season, Gruden did not. There’s a reason Dungy is in the HOF and Gruden wouldn’t ever be considered for that honor.

  43. Defense Rules Says:

@FuNkYxMuNkEy … “Smith has to be out.” Not sure it’s sunk in yet, but Smitty’s defense gave up 15 points today (low enough to win) DESPITE being handed some ludicrous field positions thanks to the Bucs offense’s miscues. But hey, repeat after me Funkey Monkey … The Defense Played Hard For Koetter, Not Smitty. We can salvage the season if we fire Scapegoat Smitty. Hey, we’re Bucs’ fans, that’s what we do.

  44. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Based on the play of the last few games, I have to agree.

  45. Mike Johnson Says:

Actually Rod Munch..Dungy would not be a bad choice at all.

  46. BucEmUp Says:

Rod ron riviera wasnt coaching material his first two seasons either. His third season he started off 0 and 2. Coaches learn just players. Dirk needs another year and smith never should have been fired.

  47. Lifey Says:

Bucman..buy yourself another keyboard. .your cap lock key seems to be stuck. .

  48. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Guys, the only solution is to get rid of both Smith & Irk. These guys would not play for either Coach next season after what leadership they have provided this year. Licht should probably go as well. No one deserves another year after what has happened this year. GET REAL and lets hope next Christmas we are planning our trip to playoffs somewhere. I don’t think that is to much to ask for is it Santa Claus????? Merry Christmas to all and to all another Season is Almost Over!!!!!

  49. IE Buc Says:

Had Koetter fired Smith midseason, he might have saved his job. Because of his loyalty to a bad DC and awful defense, Koetter can head to the exit along with his buddy. They both should be fired.

  50. T Syce Says:

Ur right on point about smith. Now….if only you cld be as real and objective about Winston . Then we might start taking u serious

  51. Reach87 Says:

Db you’re a moron. If you seriously blame this loss on mccoy instead of the missed fg and the offsides on fourth down, you too are a moron and have spewed away any credibility you may have had. Go Bucs!
