Mindblowing Way To Lose

December 5th, 2017

How?

Joe still can’t believe it even after being there to witness it.

Here is the line for never-been Packers quarterback Brett Hundley against the Bucs Sunday:

Rushing: 7 attempts for 66 yards (career record).
Passing: 13-of-22 for 84 yards with no touchdowns and a pick.

The guy accounted for a total of 150 yards and the Bucs lost!

Jiminy Christmas!

This even astounded Gary Gramling of SI.com.

Brett Hundley Looks Like Every Play Is His First NFL Play Again: It would have been nice to build something off last week’s success in Pittsburgh. Instead, Hundley reverted to his old (and not good) form, and Mike McCarthy was calling plays like he had Tim Tebow under center. All’s well that ends well, and the Packers got a win they needed. But this was dreadful.

And still the Bucs defense couldn’t stop the Packers, especially late in the game on two critical drives in Green Bay’s final three possessions.

Just unreal. Joe has to believe that sealed defensive coordinator Mike Smith’s fate.

    And Dirk Koetter’s fate.

  2. OrlandoJoe Says:

Koetter offenses the past three years have been great in total yards but horrendous at actually scoring points.

  3. Steven007 Says:

With no success in the passing game we simply needed to spy this guy. I think we tried that a few times but then schemed poorly defensively so that are linebacker got caught in traffic. That’s all on the defensive coordinator.

  4. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Something tells me the Koetter confidence poll is going to reach a dramatic new low.

Boy I wish we were 2-10 like the Giants.

  5. darin Says:

I believe their fates were already sealed. Definitely put an exclamation point on it. Jameis regressing and dirk quitting in arz sealed his fate I believe. Not even mentioning his many head coaching shortcomings. Ill be shocked if one handed stafford doesnt throw for over 300 and 3 tds this week.

I think it’s personel issue. When you blitz your exposed in coverage obviously. And that’s all we go to fr a pass rush is a blitz of some form…DERWIN JAMES TIME BABY

  8. JonBuc Says:

I beieve that Licht’s Out, soon to be kut Koetter and Smiley Smith are a package deal…they’re all gone.

  9. OrlandoJoe Says:

    Dylan,

The last thing this team needs is another former Seminole. One is causing enough trouble for the team. Bring in Minkah Fitzpatrick or Bradley Chubb if you actually want to help the team be better.

  10. The Buc Realist Says:

Defense held the packers to 13 points!!!! Don’t forget Joe that the best packers handoff was from JW3!!!!!!!!! I think Joe is trying to use Coach mike smith as the fall guy to protect his favorite guys on offense!!!!!!!!

Bucs offense ranked 22nd with 20.2 pts avg

Bucs defense ranked 21st with 24 pts avg

We know what Coach Smith did when he had a rookie NS57 and a healthy RA91 jr last year!!!!! The “real” fans would like to see his defense with a very good DE next year!!!!!!! Don’t throw away a good coach because you over estimated the roster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. #fireKoetter Says:

As bad as the defense is, our head coach at the end of the game was just as bad. After 2 and a half years with most of the same players on offense you play for overtime with all 3 timeouts remaining? I’d rather go down swinging then go down like a b****.

  12. mark2001 Says:

The key with the Koetter employment situation is that in addition to his inability to have the team ready for the beginning of the seasons, and often games in general, his O Coordination play calling seems to be weak, as it was thought to be in Jacksonville years ago, and Jameis seems to be stagnating regarding his growth. There is no reason to keep him unless there are absolutely no candidates out there.

  13. Frank Pillow Says:

We’ve been humiliated all season long. We didn’t show up in Minny. Must’ve been smoking peyote in Arizona. Got bulldozed in Buffalo by an anemic offense. Went wide left, wide right and short against the Pats. Tried like hell to lose to the Fish and Jets. I could go on and on. The point is, this is a lousy football team. A team with more questions than answers at key positions and in all phases of the game. 3 years with Dirk calling plays and we’re not any better. Simple as that. 5 years of Licht and we still have no quality players at DL, DB, RB, and the ones at LB and OL have regressed. Same for our QB.

    Hard freakin’ Knocks indeed!

  14. The Buc Realist Says:

    @mark2001
“his inability to have the team ready for the beginning of the seasons”

    What are you talking about???????????

    beginning of the season
    2016 Sep 11th first game Bucs 31 Atlanta 24
    2017 Sep 17th first game bucs 29 Bears 7

    Next!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. 813bucboi Says:

    @realist

why cant this “offensive guru” score more than 20points with weapons?

you talking bout scoring 29 vs the bears?….C’MON MAN!!!!….they are straight trash…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  16. Defense Rules Says:

Good thing you’ve still got an open mind Joe with 4 games to go. Ya right.

Realist, you nailed it … “Don’t throw away a good coach because you over estimated the roster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” (exclamation points and all).

  17. Lamarcus Says:

    Again

Are so called veteran pro bowling infested defense cost of 5 games and 1 goes to the kicker.

    All pro dt
2 pro bowl lbs(1 all pro)
    Mc donald sb champ
    Grimes- overrated trash
    Ward-sb champ and pro bowler
And a bunch of other respected players on that side. So until we get that fix we ain’t going nowhere. 20 points should get u win every time in this league. But the we 35 plus a game to make up for that defense

  18. Chucklehead Says:

“Calling plays like he had Tim Tebow under center”

Just another reason I am envious of other NFL coaches. He had a crappy QB with no passing game what so ever so he molded a winning game plan around what he had.

They used the check down quite a bit and ran the ball all over us. They got just what they needed to win.

This seems to be an alien concept to our coaching staff AND players.

  19. Bobby M. Says:

    Lets change the narrative….

Bucs defense holds a back up QB to 150 total yds and 13 pts allowed in regulation AND you’re RB has 100+ yds rushing….Guess how the Bucs lose?

    A. Kicker misses FGs….Nope he actually came through
    B. Winston turns the ball over….Yes, for a TD on top of that.

The kicker excuse is gone….the Bucs defense isn’t to blame. The offense failed the team in the red zone and gave away pts. The common denominator in our losses is Winston. In 7 losses this season….he’s accounted for 8 TDs in those games and 9 turnovers. You cant win in the NFL with that kind of play from your QB.

  20. Lamarcus Says:

    Bobby M

Um that defense is the biggest and most disappointment by far. Jw never makes that air head play I still hAve my confidence that we would still lose cuz bad teams find ways to lose. The veterans on this team is more disappointing than the coaching staff. No wonder Jw playing hero ball. It’s obvious. KEEP THAT DEFENSE OFF THE FIELD. Staring w the loafees. Gmc and grimes are suspect loafers.

    Joe

Where the news on loafing and aloft GRIMES??? Vh3 got hammered in the Az game for loafing. Grimes is a serial loafer and where did that come from? Grimes gets his ankle broken toooo often

  21. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @The Buc Ostrich

    You can’t be serious.

    1st half of 2016, 3-5

    1st half of 2017, 2-6

Your head is firmly planted in the sand my friend. This team should not be struggling to score 20 points a game. Koetter has regressed severely as a playcaller/ game planner.

Continuity just for continuity’s sake is about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop. Just ask the Bengals. Or the Rams under Jeff Fisher. Sticking with mediocrity will get you nothing but disappointment.

  22. AceofAerospace Says:

Gee, if only Hundley would’ve handed off a pick 6, then maybe we could’ve won.

WRONG!!!!!!….it wasn’t the roster that was over estimated….its the coaching staff that was over estimated!!!!!!!!!….STOP WITH THE EXCUSES!!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  24. Mike Johnson Says:

Mimdblowing way to lose? Please Joe..Knock it off..Please! We lost because we are sorry..a toilet bowl team. When a team casually watzes thru your Defense on the last drive of the game, You are sorry and deserve to lose. For the zillioneth time, The Bucs are not going anywheres until they get a Defense. Jameis can have the most stellar of stellar yrs, (a la Dan Marino..He don’t got a Superbowl either) When you cannot stop anybody in this league, you are gonna lose. And its just that simple.

  25. Bucsfanman Says:

I’m picking Patrick Murray for team MVP. Thoughts?

  26. Alanbucsfan Says:

Jameis ‘ stupid play was a 10 pt turnaround
    and lost the game-
Apparently he doesn’t listen to Koetter or it doesn’t sink in

  27. Son of Kobe Faker Says:

    #weapons4smitty?

licht beer didnt do any favors for mike smith with the talent he gave him this year

question for the sheep…which defensive coordinator would succeed with this buc defense?

the 2017 Jack jaguars picked 5th getting ramsey as their corner in the 2016 draft BUT THEY STILL SIGNED AJ BOUYE this off season. jags drafted 2015 3rd pick frowler and signed expensive malik jackson in 2016 BUT THEY STILL SIGNED FREEAGENT CALIS CAMBELL this offseson

How would Mike smith defense look with calis Cambell and AJ Bouye?

wouldnt we be 8-4 like the jags? an jags be 4-8?

  28. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Morons keep coming out of the woodwork. Jameis arm got hit by the o lineman standing there while he stood there like a tard watching the guy he was supposed to be blocking run right by him and tackle Jameis from behind. I have seen many qbs complete passes as they were getting taken down so please get off that. He was trying to make a play. Once again for those in the cheap seats how many points did the defense give up after the blocked punt??? What about the 70 yard return given up by ST??? Jameis gave us thee lead and the defense IMMEDIATELY turned around and gave it up. What about the atrocious 3rd and longs they gave up to a team who couldn’t pass??? What about the 80 yard drive on 5 runs the defense gave up to lose the game? What about the worst pass blocking ever seen? What about the 22 times he was hit & sacked? what about the killer penalties that killed big plays like tds and 22 yard screen plays. Jameis immediately turned around and threw a td the next play but you clowns don’t remember that do you? The defense did lose this game because they gave up 16 more point and 100 more yards than they were supposed to a qb like Hundley. Jameis did help contribute but 21-32 (67%) 270 yards and 2 tds he sure enough helped win it.
