“It Is Not Going To Be Wrapped Up Before The End Of This Season”

November 26th, 2017

ESPN has news on the official investigation of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, allegedly crotch-grabbing a female Uber driver without permission.

League insider Adam Schefter was on SportsCenter chattering about the latest.

You can watch the video below. But in short, Schefter says the investigation will run into next year and the NFL already has chatted with the Bucs’ director of security to explain how the league is proceeding.

Troubling and frustrating times, Bucs fans. Unfortunately, the league won’t be moving swiftly. Ultimately, the NFL is in the business of protecting the best interest of the league and how/when news is released. They’re not in the business of doing what’s best for the Tampa Bay franchise.

I know that it doesn’t/won’t work like this, but now that the Bucs’ director of security knows, Team Glazer knows. It’s time for them to make a statement.

  2. Roy T. Buford Says:

As I’ve stated, I still think “Kate” drops a civil suit by March 2018, given the two-year statute of limitations for civil liability. She’s already lawyered up and the timing is about right for that. The NFL investigation will probably go through Febuary, easily. The biggest fact to know is how many people were in the car. If Jameis is lying, that’s enough to move on from him right there. Even then, there is a dark cloud going into next season, so I’d like to see one each Kirk Cousins here with Jameis back up and even Fitz for another year or two…if Jameis goes away in the Spring.

  3. Mike Johnson Says:

DAHA!! You waiting for the Glazers to support Jameis? Forgetaoutit!! This ain’t the Cowboys where Jerry Jones support Elliot no matter what. This thing is gonna drag on and it will affect jameis way into next season. Better call Saul.

  4. Roy T. Buford Says:

@Doctor…what kind of statement should they make. They’ve already said they support the investigation. It’s quite possible they don’t believe Jameis on number of passengers, and would only look worse by coming out defending him unless they KNOW. I think distancing themselve from Winston on that aspect is the best thing right now. And that’s why also I don’t expect we’ll him play the rest of the year. A win today and they stay with Fitz. A loss and they play Fitz one more game and then go to Griffin.

  5. Seminole Bill Says:

This will not be resolved until the post-season, and there appears to be no resolution that would support Jameis position in this matter. The Bucs better start looking for a backup QB for 2018, someone who can also be the starter if things go very badly for Jameis. In the current environment, with Goodell making the decisions, Jameis is in big trouble, whether he did anything wrong or not.

Mike Glennon is on the sidelines with the Bears. He is looking better and better. And I hate to say it but our not drafting Marcus Mariota is looking like a mistake. This is not about who is the best QB, rather who can keep out of trouble.

  6. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Sorry, but I don’t feel this is a fire offense. As I’ve said too many times to list, I’ve been groped dozens of times by women without wanting them too. I NEVER considered it assault.

That sort of thing use to always happen. Now, because of social networks, the media and the companies bow to the opinions of the public more than ever.

But even IF Winston is guilty (which I strongly doubt), I don’t believe he should be released. At most, he should get nothing more than a 4 game suspension…IF GUILTY.

But I also do not believe there will ever be proof that he did it. The problem is, in a civil case, guilt no longer matters…and that’s just wrong.

  7. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Seminole Bill, I was one of the ones who wanted Mariota…but I was wrong.

Besides…what’s the difference if a QB is off the field for suspension or injury. Either way, he isn’t contributing. Mariota is always injured.

No, I think we need a better backup. Too soon to draft a replacement for Winston. My opinion might change as time goes on, but I’m keeping in mind that this was supposed to happen during his first off season. He is matured more since then and become more involved in charities.

    I think he’s innocent anyway.

    @Mike Johnson
It’s too bad the Bucs’ Director of Security isn’t Mike Ehrmantraut!

The NFL is being smart and protecting their brand. At this point they have everything they need to make a ruling. In this climate where all these woman are coming out they would not make a ruling in Winston’s favor. They will let all the charges and uproar of harassment subside. then will come after the season is over. Judging from the big smile Winston’s face today, may not be bad news. Something happened in that car, I just don’t believe Winston did it. She will get paid regardless of guilt. Coming from an old lady groped too many times to remember I could have gotten paid if a rich person groped me. Oh wait that is only now.

Oh graham Jameis’s Auntie is posting here

I wish!! Just a Bucs fan.

  13. Issic Haggins Says:

This just shows the utter incompetence of the NFL this should take a day or two , let alone a week ,let alone a month, let alone three months …. Seriously this is a 5 minute event it’s not that hard to figure out

Pam wrote: “Judging from the big smile Winston’s face today, may not be bad news.”

Yeah, Winston’s smiling today seals the deal. Goodell wil find in his favor and he won’t get suspended. Do you really believe that nonsense?

“Something happened in that car, I just don’t believe Winston did it. She will get paid regardless of guilt.”

She’s not suing. That may change but for now, the issue is whether or not Winston gets suspended.

  15. Pam says Says:

Jimmy – Indeed the smile is wishful thinking on my part, love his smile. I do feel what Kate does and the decision from the NFL are connected, if she sues this whole matter will be too much press nationally. The NFL will not like that and rule harshly. Which is why Kate will get paid, she will drop her claim, he will get a slap on the wrist for some yet to be named unknown made up infraction. The ruling will come down during some other big story to go unnoticed.
This all coming from a fan confined to bed that love the Bucs with a lot of time to think.

IMO, Pam won’t be paid and she won’t sue. And if Winston is suspended, it will be because the league believes Kate’s claim that he groped her.
