Doctors Won’t Clear Jameis This Week

November 20th, 2017

Still wounded

UPDATED 3:10 p.m. – America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, will get a third week off this week, Dirk Koetter said this afternoon at One Buc Palace.

This Sunday’s game in Atlanta, which Jameis considers a “second home” game near his Alabama relatives, will be Jameis-free. Team doctors have not given him the green light to throw the football and put in a day’s work with his sprained shoulder.

Koetter said Jameis will be re-evaluated by team doctors next Monday.

One upside of this is that it limits distractions for a while. If this were a game week for Jameis, then he’d have to talk to media, per league rules. And that would open him up for questions about the fresh crotch-grabbing allegations against him.

Of course, Jameis could hold his own news conference to clear the air, but Joe suspects that won’t happen while the NFL investigates the situations.

So he Bucs will face their division rival likely needing Ryan Fitzpatrick to put at at least 21 points on the board to win. Tough duty against a good, motivated Atlanta team. But Joe certainly is not writing off the streaking Bucs.

This Jameis news was no surprise to Joe, considering the third opinion Jameis sought on his shoulder.

I think JW has played his last game in a bucs uniform.

  2. Dewey Selmon Says:

Winston won’t be seen again this year. Waiting for the off season investigation.

  3. Chips28 Says:

There should be a dumbass filter for this website, yes that’s in regards to the two previous comments

  4. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I’m sorry but this is really starting to smell like Andrew Luck. Not #3’s fault anymore than Luck’s when you get an injury.

But just like Luck…first he’s throwing…getting better…uh no he still can’t play…finally pulling the plug for the season.

The Glazers must have the luck of the Irish. If #3 is going to have perennial arm problems…not saying that’s the case but it’s clearly a decent possibility at this point…better in his final year of the rookie deal before he backs up the Brink’s truck for his first major deal.

Same thing for his Arizona mess…better now for the Glazers than near the very end of the contract.

I’m prejudging Jameis…but innocent or not…with his arm…with is reputation…there must be some really heavy conversation going on at One Buc.
What is their next move. Forget feelings and friends…it’s now BIZNESS!!!

At minimum they have to protect their investment and their BRAND. We call #3 the franchise but at the end of the day he’s simply the most important player not the ONLY player. The Glazers will own the Bucs next year no matter what happens to #3. They have to plan and prepare accordingly. I can’t believe they are not huddled with Licht discussing at least backup plans. We’re talking hundreds of millions of dollars here!!! Whether it’s Jameis next contract or the value or devaluation of their brand. It’s a tough time to be a Glazer decision maker. Tough for Licht and Koetter as well.

  5. StPeteBucsFan Says:

oops NOT prejudging Jameis. In fact I’m hoping he’s only guilty of bad judgement and nothing more.

  6. Lamarcus Says:

Jw is done. We seen his last days here. Jw WILL have success somewhere else this losing culture can’t handle a player like JW.

  7. Dewey Selmon Says:

Hey Chip, wake up and join the real world.

  8. Jimmy T Says:

What the heck are u two talking about? Off season investigation? I’m still trying to find anything he has done wrong in this community since he has been here. Until I see evidence that he lied about The UBER incident he is innocent. If anyone brings up the law suit settlement as guilt that is incorrect as well. He sued her as well, no one knows who got what in the settlement. I’m trying to figure out why ANYONE would lie so I’m comfortable that Darby isn’t going to lie about how many people were in the car. He is injured badly and that is why after the 4th game his accuracy was beyond bad. First 4 games 2-2, 68% completion %, 7 TD’s 3 int’s (all in 1 game). After the first series of the Cards game he has not been right. Just know that the Bucs just beat the worst Qb on the planet and the Jets weren’t much better. I hope the Bucs win out but if Jameis was 100% healthy & the defense was worth a hoot this would be a playoff team.

  9. Pickgrin Says:

Jameis should not play again until he is pain free.

Hopefully he is good to go sooner than later. There are still plenty of things to learn, experiences to have and growth to be achieved in the NFL at the tail end of a so called lost season.

1 more loss and we are for all purposes out of the playoffs. 2 more losses and its time to start letting young and developing players like Elliot and Benenoch and Barber have a lot more playing time. Also time to bring guys like Bobo and Joe Dirt up from the PC and let them get some real game snaps as well.

  10. JonBuc Says:

That “W” he ate must have been laced with cyanide…feels like the beginning of the end. As mentioned earlier…better to know now than after shelling out a 9 figure contract.

  11. LakeLand Says:

No criminal charges has been filed. This is not a criminal case, this is nothing really. People are making a mountain out of a mole hill. There will be no criminal charges.

  12. Dewey Selmon Says:

No one has said anything about a criminal investigation. Winston didn’t say anything to the Bucs about this. the Glazers will not allow him to play if they have an injury excuse to keep him off the field while the NFL DOES THE INVESTIGATION! take off your perter colored glasses.

  13. America's Groper Says:

    What a coincidence

  14. Rojas Says:

Can’t help but laugh at how dumb the first two comments on this post are.

  15. Not there yet Says:

So he was cleared two weeks in a row to play on a bad shoulder, after two weeks of rest it’s still not good to go? This regime sucks and franchise is worse than Cleveland in that that franchise just sucks because they lose and draft badly, we seem to always have some kind of stupid drama to accompany the losing

  16. Trubucfan22 Says:

Luck had surgery that he is recovering from. Jameis isn’t having surgery. 2 completely different situation even if it was the same initial injury. Luck could play without the surgery, the surgery made his shoulder worse.

  17. OneBucPerson Says:

Honestly I’d rather just bench Jameis the rest of the season and have the Bucs tank to get a high draft pick, the issues that were exposed the first half of the season (non-existent pass rush, poor pass defense, abysmal run blocking) aren’t likely to be fixed without a big FA/Draft period. I’m looking at people like Ziggy Ansah or Malcolm Butler and one of the big name prospects like Bradley Chubb, Arden Key, or Derwin James.

  18. RachelWatson'sThong Says:

As long as the team keep’s eating W’s, I don’t care who is playing QB.

  19. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Trubucfan

Thanks for that clarification. I’m assuming you’re not a big fan of Jameis getting the surgery if that’s what messed up Luck.

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’ll give the Bucs organization the benefit of the doubt and say that the injury and the Uber incident are two completely separate situations.

Now that Jameis is in the hands of the Doctors, no telling how long it will be before he is cleared.

Let’s wish Fitz well and let’s hope that Jameis is smart enough to expedite this investigation and get to the bottom of it.

  21. R.O. Says:

The press and public have zero right to hear anything. Just give the info to the NFL let them make a decision and then he can talk about it. Until then keep your mouth shut.

  22. DoNUTS Says:

If you have paid attention to JBF, he told you that probably the most damning thing about the incident so far is that JW did NOT tell the team when Uber contacted him. Koetter stated they didnt know and he was contacted in 2016 by Uber. This does not bode well for JW when it comes to the trust question.

The rest of it, I think its best to wait for the NFL to take a position once they vetted the facts.

  23. BrianBucs Says:

This season is toast. No playoffs coming. Do not risk your young franchise QB’ s shoulder and future health on meaningless games. Shut him down until be is 100% and completely healed, however long that takes.

  24. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

@LakeLand Neither was Zeke’s issue and how long did that BS drag out? We’ll be hearing about this all next year as well. The Glazers won’t want this distraction and JW is already sketchy AF. They’ll let him go IMO. They showed him trust and JW didn’t… straight disrespect not to tell ownership. JW has burned his last bridge here.

  25. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Hopefully Jameis will ready to play the last 4 games.
This way -if the team moves on.
A potential trade partner – will at least know – that bum shoulder is healed.

  26. BucThis Says:

I believe we have all been young and made dumb decisions right? And perhaps making those dumb decisions we hoped it would never come to light? I sure have.

However, in the NFL and to some of our fans unfortunately, whenever there is an accusation, that person or player is undoubtedly guilty. Thankfully our judicial system is not like this because even some of you “fans” would be found guilty in the court of public opinion.

At this point I hope both Winston and Evans (my 2 favorite players) both leave to better franchises who deserve there talent and what they do in the community. I guess some of you don’t recall the positive Winston has done huh?

One more thing: I would have LOVED to see how some of you “fans” would of handled millions of dollars, national spotlight, and having a target on your back all at the age of 21-23 and see how you would do! My guess: You would all make Johnny Football look like Tim Tebow.

  27. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    *will be

  28. 813bucboi Says:

WTF?….I thought his injury wasn’t considered serious?…..I thought no further injury could happened if he played?…..

this is just like Andrew luck…..

now, im questioning the team doctors….he should’ve never played after the cards game….

its best to let him have his surgery, so he’s back 100% for OTA’s and TC….we’re nothing more than a 5win team this year….GO BUCS!!!!

  29. mike n Says:

Probably for the best. Really good news today for Jameis and the Bucs, Baker Mayfield got suspended today for crotch grabbing and it looks like it will be less than one game. Lets hope its the same for jameis!

  30. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

What if: Fitz wins out say the next five games and JW is ready to return. Do we start James or do we keep rolling with Fitzpatrick? This would be very interesting especially if we return the playoff hunt. Also note, I am in no way at all anti-Jameis like some of these clowns who think Jameis will never play for us again, that is just downright idiotic. Jameis will definitely play for us again, whether it be in a few weeks or week one of next year. I just think it poses a very interesting issue for the Bucs.

  31. mike n Says:

@1st down… if that miracle happened you would keep riding fitz. Unless the starter is wilson, brady, big ben or rodgers you keep the #2 in. Plus its not like Jameis has been great this year.

  32. LUVMYBUCS Says:

After watching Kirk Cousins the last few games.
I’m all in – for signing this kid.

  33. Kobe Faker Says:

What is jameis trade value right now?

I think its a pick 10-17 on the first round….

    Should we

    Discuss

  34. Seminole Bill Says:

The Bucs should have sidelined Jameis for the Bill’s game; he would have been back and healthy by now.

  35. DB55 Says:

..I thought no further injury could happened if he played?…..
    ——————
Yea Koetter lies to the media they just don’t realize it.

Same as when he said “I’m just learning about that now” but wtfdik

  36. scott gilrane Says:

First Down Tampa, good question. Earl Morrall qb’d the Dolphins most of the season, but they put Griese back in for the last 2.

  37. WyomingBucsFan Says:

Look people, this coaching staff has not mailed it it yet. They are in the playoff hunt in their convoluted minds…lol I wonder if Jameis is telling Dirk to just keep playing Fitz, I mean i would if i had brought a total $iht storm like he did. Jameis withheld this from the team and is in big trouble for that. This is no medical decision, Dirks been given plausible deniability. Plus Fitz is actually playing better then the first overall pick, go figure.

    You guys are unbelievable.

  40. Mo_Downs Says:

I also had high hopes for this season.
But, so did every other team in the league.

Attrition is the difference between winners and also tans.
Jameis is going to be an easy target for quick buck goldiggerd. He should put away any ideas to the contrary and get married and settle down.
Otherwise, it will be the same story every season.

  41. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Bucthis

I AM NOT THAT IGNORANT. If I was a star QB who had made repeated mistakes in college including shouting FHITP during a time which my very NFL career was being debated I would have learned. If I didn’t learn I would hope the team would protect me from myself.

One more thing: I would have LOVED to see how some of you “fans” would of handled millions of dollars, national spotlight, and having a target on your back all at the age of 21-23 and see how you would do!

I would have been smart enough not to hang out drunk at 2AM with a shady character like Darby who was part of the posse the night I almost blew my first round pick…oh and that posse recorded Jameis having sex with a drunken woman who may or may have not consented…how damn dumb is that.

Most guys realize the limitations on their public lives when they reach the NFL.

They realize you can’t hang drunk at 2AM with clowns like Darby. It’s not freaking rocket science!!!

And why not hide it from the team while you’re at it. How can the Glazers/Licht/Koetter ever trust Jameis again?

  42. ClodHopper Says:

That sucks. I’ve become a bigger fan of Jameis this last week then I ever have been before. Mainly because of the absolute BS treatment he’s getting from pretty much everyone. Especially the media. Mountains make of a molehill

Good to see Joe being about as honest with himself and us as is possible tho. It’s why you’re the best at what you do!

  43. StPeteBucsFan Says:

BTW I do not mean to suggest Fameis is the first or only guy to be in this situation. PacMan Jones comes to mind…Aquib Talib…Greg Hardy….there are others who have messed up because they didn’t pay attention to time/place/posse

Some learn….Ray Lewis almost ended his career early because of his choice of friends…but once he got past it you never heard another single bad thing about Lewis. I suspect he had mastered how to keep a low profile.

It’s bodyguards. I knew a heavyweight boxer who never travelled without a bodyguard. Not because he couldn’t defend himself physically but because any fight with an amateur would most likely turn out bad for the PRO no matter the cause.

Some jobs have outside responsibilities. Being the face of a franchise with an incredibly spotty record coming into the league simply means you have to be CAREFUL!

  44. mike n Says:

@kobe… Jameis has no trade value. If he were traded , he would be a free agent at the end of the year then he may miss games from suspension and he’s not even healthy right now.

  45. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Clodhopper

So if a famous dude grabbed your daughter by the crotch you would turn on your daughter for bringing it up?

You cannot claim BS because you literally do NOT know what happened nor does anybody else. Just because you type BS does not necessarily make it true. We may or may not find out the truth. It’s probably somewhere between our opinions.

I could have imagined three in the car like Darby said and the guy in the front was another FSU/NFL player who actually did the grabbing. But Jameis feels a foolish sense of loyalty to friends like Darby and whomever they’re not identifying as the 3rd party.

So some of you probably would give Jamies props for protecting his “boys” even if one of them actually did it.

  46. DB55 Says:

    Spbf

    Posse? Ok.

How do you know the recording didn’t save Winston?

How do you know Winston didn’t tell Koetter or anyone in the org? Is it possible that Koetter is playing coy with the media?

I missed the Darby is a lying thug hooligan memo. I know it went out bc you’re the second person I’ve heard say this. What makes him an undesirable? All I know is that he’s a college educated professional who belong to the 1% of wage earners in the United States. What did I miss? What makes him a thug for lack of a better word?

  47. Defense Rules Says:

Mike n … “Baker Mayfield got suspended today for crotch grabbing.” You might want to go back and read the WHOLE story. Not even close to the same thing as Jameis’ incident. Does tell me though that Baker Mayfield is not very mature either. Browns can have him.

  48. Tom T. Says:

    Couldnt agree more with Chips28!!!

  49. Chris Says:

No St Pete, you make too much logical sense. The FSU fans and agenda oriented people will stick up for this guy until he’s 40. Grow the hell up, Came into the league with character questions, he should never put himself in a 2am situation. What about the alleged yelling at people using homosexual slurs? That’s not even being addressed. He’s had a questionable seson, from bad decisions on the field, to this allegation.

  50. Pelbuc Says:

Questionable decision making on and off the field, no accuracy and now a bum throwing shoulder. I Hope GM licht gets fired and is not in the room when Glazers are discussing their options. This lawyer can complicate things by suing the Bucs as employer of JW along with JW not to mention all the negative publicity for months and months as well as the impending suspension. Glazers and Litch decided to take on this risk, now they have to pay the price!

  51. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Boy how times have changed…..I used to ask permission to grope…..usually got turned down and moved on to the next….when I did get permission it was usually from the one that had a “reputation” for allowing it.

So, the moral to this story is……ask. You may just get a yes!!!

  52. LUVMYBUCS Says:

We talked about this at length before we drafted this kid.
Screw all the folks that said the kid was incompetent yadda yadda.
I’m about the logically adults that judge the situation fairly.

One on the main reason why – we said don’t draft this kid was what?
I clearly said “IF U NEED 2 Bubble Wrap this kid for 5 Seconds”…
….Then don’t draft him – because you’ll be dealing with this problem for 10yrs.

This is why you don’t build your freakin’ home on sand.
Cause any minute – that Biatch will come crumbling down.

  53. LUVMYBUCS Says:

I’m talking about the logically adults that judge the situation fairly.

  54. Chris Says:

The only people defending Winston’s behavior from college until now are the FSU base. The rest of America are putting all of his garbage together. Crab Legs, rape allegation, shooting up a dorm with bb guns , standing on a table yelling grab her in the……nah, I disagree with the he hangs with wrong people, several of these incidents were his own choice. And no DB, it has nothing to do with race, as you’re alleging with St Pete, I give a d..n less what color Jameis is, it’s the person that he’s possibly hiding underneath the awe shucks persona.

  55. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    *Logical

  56. LakeLand Says:

People are talking like Jameis Winston is going to prison for 20 years. This is not even a criminal case, it’s NOTHING.

  57. gilhealy Says:

You can’t even find this story anymore on ESPN, or NFL.com.

  58. ClodHopper Says:

St Pete. I haven’t said a single thing about the girl so whatever conclusions you jumped to are false.

I say it’s BS not because I know what happened that night. I say BS because it’s a tiny offense and everyone just has to set their hair on fire all the time in this country. I don’t care if he did it or not. My opinion of him doesn’t change at all over this. But my opinion has changed of him thanks to the lynch mob after his head

If he reached over and she said no or hit him or whatever and he kept doing it, that’s different. But what we know is he tried once and he ended it. That’s not assault imo. That’s just a dude with bad game that failed. But there must be a villain in every encounter.

  59. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    derrickbrooksforGM Says
“I think JW has played his last game in a bucs uniform.”

I think you are whacked if you really believe that.

  60. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Jameis will return next week. I knew he would not do so this week.

  61. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    I don’t mean to diminish the act….IF it happened…..and that’s a big IF….

but, it’s always the cover-up that gets folks in trouble and IF….and this is also a big IF……if Winston kept this incident from the Bucs….that’s a big problem….I am quite certain that Jameis has an understanding with Licht/Koetter that he will be up-front about these sorts of things.

If this happened, it’s so disappointing because it certainly seemed that Jameis was acting the part well of a Franchise QB in the community.

    Very, very sad, indeed.

  62. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Word will leak that he feels he can play this week, but that the Bucs just want to make sure he’s ready.

  63. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Tampabaybucfan

IF it happened, then it wasn’t Jameis who did it. In fact, being in the back seat, neither he nor Darby may not have seen it happen. Katie said she was touched, not grabbed. It would have been quick and light (if it even happened). Obviously IF it happened, it was the man in the front passenger seat who did it.

If Jameis and Darby were unaware after the fact, and if she showed no reaction at the time, then Jameis hid nothing. Uber called him, but so far as he knew, nothing had happened.

Because I seriously doubt Jameis climbed over the seat to ‘touch’ her crotch.

  64. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

What’s more…Jameis is in a catch 22. If the other man in front was a football player, he would be viewed as a nark if he revealed who it is…especially if nothing can be proven.

  65. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    DB55

I absolutely do not know what the sex video of Famies revealed. That’s because the player who did it found out that the authorities investigating the case found out about it and he quickly erased it. Understandable I guess since who wants to be embarrassed by another sex tape.

As for posse…if you find that racist or untoward I’ll accept your point and not use it again. I’ve struggled a bit for how to describe Jameis “friends”…I certainly wouldn’t use a racial pejorative like thugs…they did not earn that moniker…I was afraid to refer to them as his boys even though he might do that because of the connotation behind boys and race.

So in the future heeding your point I”ll simply call them his “friends”.

I could add the old adage however…with friends like that who needs enemies.

  66. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Can we all agree on one thing. NOBODY…except perhaps Jameis and the woman actually KNOW what happened that night.

There is no reason to assume Jameis is guilty or that the girl is lying. We simply do not know!!!

I think however the number of people in that car…which we still do not actually know…unless you accept the word of Darby…full of conflict of interest…will pretty much tell us where this is headed. At this point if there were three in the car case closed her story falls apart. If there was only Jameis in the car…what do we think then? At minimum he would by lying about a very important situation.

Let’s wait and see how many were in the car for starters.

  67. Buc1987 Says:

I read a book called “The Franchise” about 25 yrs ago. It was a fictional book, but read like it could really happen.

Well there was this charismatic QB in the book that was a big deal when drafted and big deal for his pro team. That was until he started to play poorly. Then they (his team) made up some off the field crap to smear his name in order to not sign him to a bigger contract. The public ran with it and sided with the owners.

Not saying Uber is made up. Saying this is eerily too similar to the book for me. Been in the back of my mind since the story broke.

  68. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

StPeteBucsFan, we can’t hold the rape against Jameis because he was never even prosecuted for it.

The girl changed her story 4 times, making her inconsistent and the judges did not trust her claims.

  69. Buc1987 Says:

StPete…exactly…if it turns out there was more than JW in that car then her story gets blown to smithereens for me.

I myself don’t think the kid is that stupid after all his BS at FSU. So I don’t think he did it on that alone.

  70. DB55 Says:

could add the old adage however…with friends like that who needs enemies.
    ———
True story but your are not alone it seems to me like those are the same sentiments certain members of the TB media have also.

I get it. Heck I remember when people called Richard Sherman a thug. Yes Stanford graduate and all around good guy Richard Sherman was a thug for shaking Brady’s hand. What can I say Dreadlocks are scary. It’s okay, I luv you too.

  71. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Buc1987

that would be the second strike, After the statement it was first reported that “it was not about the money” then a couple of days later it is about the money and hires the lawyer from the last incident!!!!!!!

  72. Jeremy Says:

Both the bucs and Jameis are way too quiet on this. The truth is the truth unless there is something to worry about

  73. DB55 Says:

    87

Not too far fetched if you ask me.

    DB55 Says:

I keep telling ya Jameis is NOT Koetters qb. Koetter likes pocket qbs and Jameis does his best work outside the pocket. Jameis doesn’t throw 40-50 attempts he throw 28-35 in desperation time. Koetter wants Matty ice back and can’t bring himself to change his old tattered playbook. But wtf do I know?

  74. AZBucsFan4Lyfe Says:

Some of you guys are funny. Let me ask you this one question?

If JW hid this from the team, and thought it would just blow over, why did he save the recording?

They didn’t just call him this week. It has been saved by his legal team for over a year. So I am betting someone upstairs knew about it.

And if you think JW’s team didn’t look into it, then you are just not that smart.

  75. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Bonzai

Where are you getting your “facts”?…….I know this is how Darby is describing things but that is being disputed by the driver. I am willing to let this play out and rely on credible evidence…..you seem to have already discerned the facts from Darby’s statements.

  76. Tackleblockwin Says:

Jameis messed up by not letting the Bucs know upfront. I hope he didn’t do it. But we all know in the eyes of the NFL he is basically guilty now and will probably be suspended. If he would have just stayed ahead of this with the Bucs and the league, he would have helped his case. My guess is we will never know for sure if he did it or not.

  77. Seminole Bill Says:

Something in all this doesn’t sound “right”. A few days ago the internet was lit up with comments from people in the sports world basically saying Jameis did what he was accused of. Jameis’ public statement on the matter was unclear; he said the Uber driver was mistaken about who was in the car, but did not mention the names of the other riders. Now we have Darby coming forward to say he was in the back seat with Jameis and that Jameis didn’t touch the driver. But still no identification of the front seat occupant.

Jameis better get out in front of this, and quickly, if his version of events is accurate. Else, someone else’s version will be the “truth” no matter what he says later on.

    @azbucsfan

Interesting. So you think that Dirk was never told about it but others in the organization were? I suppose that is a possibility, but why would Dirk not have been told?

    AZBuc

I think I understand your point but that begs another question. If he told the team why are they still allowing him to swing in the breeze. Why didn’t they immediately come out and say they knew about this?

I like 87 and DB55’s suspicions. If we gotta speculate might as well add an entertaining story….the Bucs are unhappy with Jameis on the field and so they deep sixed him with the AZ stuff. That at least is entertaining.

BTW let me be clear since I’ve been harsh. I can see why everybody loves Jameis…he has a winning personality. And I absolutely do not want to run him off for stuff on the field. I do not believe Koetter does either.

But #3 IS still doing things on the field that cause me concern…not the accuracy or actual playing stuff but the decision stuff…that play this year where he tried a forward lateral to Martin while he’s being tackled and turns it over…
forcing some throws….I’m still a little nervous as to how coachable he is…but Jimbo vouched for him and Koetter has stood behind him so what do I know.

Bottom line I would NEVER run Jameis off for his actual playing talent.

  81. Tony 12" Pepperoni Says:

Trade him to the Browns for one of their 1st round picks.

  82. cmurda Says:

The commenters on this site Joe. Wow. You must laugh your butt off when reading some of them. The best QB to ever suit up for the Bucs is injured right now and the masses are calling for his exodus. Let me provide some reason here and hope the bridge-jumpers will listen before plunging. JW is only in his 3rd year in the NFL. He has some work to do and is willing to do the work. He’s 23 years old. 23. I can honestly say that I have never assaulted a woman but I certainly did some of the dumbest crap anybody could imagine in my 20’s. All bets are off if this story proves to be true but I don’t expect that it will. First of all, there hasn’t been any reason to believe he did it, secondly it’s game of he said she said. In all likelihood, the investigation will result in no charges being filed but the NFL’s investigation still could potentially get JW suspended. Whatever the situation, you don’t throw in the towel on a #1 pick who shattered all kinds of rookie and Bucs records. You coach him up with a competent staff and he thrives before age 25 and then you get 10+ years of a franchise QB. Sure, JW could wet the bed in the end but there’s a whole lot of leadership and talent in that young man and it would be about the 50th player that I now see thriving on other teams. Hello Donald Penn, Michael Bennett, Adrian Clayborn. This organization can’t afford to oust another player only to regret it.

  83. Roy T. Buford Says:

Worst case: You have a QB with a sex crime allegation, he refuses to identify the third guy, there are no records of a third guy or even second one, Jameis is confirmed to have concealed the whole incident from his team, gets off-season shoulder surgery making him a questoin mark in camp, then he is suspended for six games when he comes back, the same guy has a possibly permanently bum shoulder, already lacks accuracy, and has yet to prove his ability to make good decisions on and off the field consistently.

Best case: You have a QB with two sex crime allegations on record, bogus or not they distracted the team, he didn’t tell his team of it, no one knows what really happened or how many pax were in the care, he permanetly loses trust and significant season ticket fan support, and the same guy has a possibly permanently bum shoulder, lacks accuracy, and yet-to-prove ability to make good decisions on and off the field consistently.

With the “best case” perhaps the owners have enough to move on from him. Not to would show how truly generous (and perhaps naive) they are….

  84. cmurda Says:

So, that’s the best case scenario Roy? Ok, pal.

  85. Roy T. Buford Says:

cmurda…you seriously don’t understand how the business works…in the most basic degree. That’s okay. Now, doing “dumb crap” in your 20s isn’t comparable to any sex crime at any level. I’ve done pleny myself. But no one who is decent, no matter how drunk, grabs a woman’s genitals as a joke. And no man who is not a slob would say it’s okay to do so if a guys is drunk…no big deal (not saying you said that).

There are a few reasons to believe he may have done it. One, he’s been there before. Two, he apparently didn’t tell his team who has annointed him and placed great trust and risk in him. Three, at the time the driver filed a complaint with Uber–very unusual. I don’t know if Jameis did it. I tend to believe so far he didn’t do it but I do have doubts as this further unfolds.
So to say there is no reason to believe he did it is stupid.

Back to the business part…if the face of your franchise is someone sponsors avoid, whom ticket buying fans don’t trust, and he brings a constant cloud over your team’s head because of his history of poor judgement…who may yet be suspended as you said…you don’t get over that. If Jameis is one of the top 32 QBs in the world, you look to see if you can avoid the baggage and get #33. This is why Ray Rice and Greg Hardy aren’t playing now. Baggage.

  86. cmurda Says:

    Roy

I hear you on some of your points but there is no reason to believe he did it. In other words, you either take the man at his word and his friend who is on record as saying he did not assault that woman or you rely on a story coming forward that happened 2 years ago. In light of all of the assault cases coming in by the dozens, it is an easy time for someone to cash in. Even if cashing in is not monetary. Cashing in could be for her 15 minutes of fame. For all I know, she is telling the truth but my point is there hasn’t been any sort of evidence other than word of mouth to believe he did this. None of us know exactly what happened that night, but I’m not going to crucify somebody for something that could turn out to be completely false. Regarding the business side, that’s horsecrap. Peyton Manning had been accused of sexual assault to the point that it ended up in court with him being deposed. Peyton has been the face of 2 franchises. To this point, neither of the allegations against JW went near that far. Many players who’s character was called into question have been the face of their franchise. Ray Lewis ring a bell.

  87. The daily corner Says:

Those of you who think Jameis is going to be gone must have eaten some mushrooms😝

  88. gilhealy Says:

He’s been where before, Roy? If you mean he’s been in the cross hairs of a lying gold digger, I agree. But the first accusation proved false, and he fought it all the way. She eventually caved and walked away with nothing from Jameis. The FSU settlement was Title Nine related. And this one looks to be false on its face. So, what has he done to deserve your crosshairs? Think for yourself, and don’t let the media do all your thinking.

  89. ...I'm back WhatdaBuc Says:

What do we do now? I’m torn

  90. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @Roy

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Greg Hardy isn’t playing anymore because he lost his ability to rush the passer. If you recall, he was courted by numerous teams after the incident, including the Bucs, and eventually signed with Dallas.

He was only no longer wanted because he sucked. Same thing goes for Ray Rice.

  91. Doctor Stroud Says:

@LUV: just out of curiosity, could you compare Kirk Cousins (29) with Alex Smith (33)?

  92. LakeLand Says:

Jameis Winston will be a Buc for the next 10 years. I guarantee it, I have zero doubt.

  93. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

And I have no idea where you’re getting this “permenantly bum shoulder” from.]

If you are referring to the thing from the combine, that was a non serious nerve issue. Nothing to do with throwing strength or accuracy.

And I recall, this QB you’re trying to make out to be injury prone, not missing a game for 2 years.

This story seems bogus to me, looks to me like another young gold digger trying to hit up Jameis for a pay check.

  94. Roy T. Buford Says:

@gilhealy…You stated “He’s been where before, Roy? If you mean he’s been in the cross hairs of a lying gold digger, I agree. But the first accusation proved false, and he fought it all the way. She eventually caved and walked away with nothing from Jameis.”

I don’t think he raped Kinsman, and I believe her story was full of holes. Looked to me a like a couple of dimwits in college got it on and she had regrets, maybe wanted to get paid. It was never proven false. But it was never proven true. There is a difference. And BTW, nothing wrong with someone who is assualted/abused for getting paid. Now, on where he has been before…and where his numerous hours of vetting inside One Bucs took him…was how to AVOID THE SITUATION. His first off season no less. What has he done to deserve the crosshairs (not mine, but so many people), is his history of somehow being in the situation, and as I said, betraying the trust of his organization. No worries…the media does not do my thinking…and neither does my wish that our Bucs could have just one freakin season without some dumbazz controversy. Again, I don’t believe he did it but I don’t know he didn’t. But it’s easy to how people suspect he did.

  95. Roy T. Buford Says:

cmurda…copy all. Thanks. We can agree though the fact we have to talk about of this vice JW’s injury as his only controversy speaks some volumes! Have a good night. Hopefully get to watch some sex allegation-free football!

  96. cmurda Says:

Take it easy Roy. Talk soon.

  97. JimmyJack Says:

Roy may have the clearest opinion of any of us. We fans dont want to give credence to the business part of all of this but it is perhaps thd biggest factor.

Even if Winston gets absolved of the actual groping how can the owners possibly feel comfortable signing $100,000,000 and 7 years worth of the team investing in him? The answer is they cant. It will always be in the back of their minds that trouble has followed Winston wherever he goes. They will have to just cross their fingers that something else doesn’t happen………….I know Winston’s fan club doesn’t like to hear that but sometimes you have to face the facts. Personally, if Winston is found innocent I hope they committ to him longterm…….but it isn’t my money so I won’t be able to blame them for not having enough faith in him.

It’s easy to comment here and have an opinion. But we don’t have to back up our opinions with 9 figures and an entire organisation now do we.

  98. I Bleed Red Says:

    Hurry Back Jameis!!

  99. DB55 Says:

Funny the glazier paid 100mil to a guy to just smile for 7 years.

So it’s not about production and wins! It’s all about perception. Got it!

All these comments have solidified 1 thing. There are two completely different worlds in the US.

As for me the best things in my life have all happened after midnight so I really have no idea where you guys are coming from. Sounds boring af but then again wtfdik.

  100. cmurda Says:

    @JimmyJack

Good points but you forget the other side of the equation. We aren’t the ones raking in the enormous profits either. The Glazers profit from Mann U and the Bucs is substantial. Don’t get me wrong all owners care about profits and expenses, hence, why Goodell is knocking on heaven’s door for not putting a kibash to the kneeling. Now that ratings are down, albeit not a ton, and ad and sponsor revenue are down, the owners will care. Regarding JW, you can believe that trouble follows him but there hasn’t been anything that actually has stuck as credible. JW’s a target. I’m in support of Jameis unless something credible gives me no choice. His shoulder is more of a concern than anything else at this point.

  101. DB55 Says:

All I know I need to chill with Jaboowins. Birds of a feather. Plus I wanna grab Breezy Boo by the Crotch. #Truestory😛😋🤪

  102. Welcome Back Koetter Says:

Jaboo is fine but if he isn’t….he’s not paying my bills so WTF do I care. Ignore the “witch hunt”….only facts matter.

  103. JimmyJack Says:

well no DB55…….The ultimate goal still is the Lombardi trophy, at least it should be.

You’re saying this as if Winston is guaranteed to win some team a Super Bowl.

One way to look at it is that distractions are counter productive. And I know there are teams that have excelled in spite of distractions but there are others that have crumbled.

You can also look at Winston as a pure QB and find critism, which many have. The opinion of his performances should be a factor too.

There is a ton of different ways to look at this……..Just look at the variance of opinions in these comments. But when the dust settles only the Glazers opinions matter. They are either going to believe Winston is the best choice for our franchise or they will think we are better off without him.

For the record I’m with cmurda……Ill support Winston unless these allegations provoke guilty. That being said it’s easy to have that opinion as a fan. If I had to invest 100 mil and the entire franchise into that opinion it would be extremely difficult.

  104. Getaclue Says:

Kinda of feels like how I was disappointed I was when Josh Freeman fell apart. Even fat Winston was better too

  105. JimmyJack Says:

And they didn’t pay GMC all that money for perception. They let Dominick pay him that money because I’m sure he told them he could build a powerhouse defense around him.

It was one of many blotches Dominick made……Now Licht is doing the same thing I building around McCoy rather then get us a player that can truly lead that Dline

  106. BucEmUp Says:

    Sign Kirk Cousins

  107. Lamarcus Says:

No need to for snap judgement when ur franchise is trash. Bottom feeders if u will . It’s not like we’re prennial playoff team. NFL already made a statement regarding this issue. Jw and darby are not on commiss exec list cuz it don’t meet criteria. The girl have to show “proof” he did it first.

Tampa media is the only ones that want his exit. sprinkle a little jw haters here and there and u have a mess of an issue. Jw cant beat this. Sorry. He has to ppl against him. Roethlisberger had the steelers nation backing him twice. Peyton was smeared in cover ups. Jw has no chance in tampa. Tampa is the Browns of the nfc.

  108. Lamarcus Says:

    Jimmyjack

Jw has NO chance here. Seems even Tampa media is making this a huge story and WILL parade to cut him. Just like here, Fans wanted a vote system for JW and never got one until this alleged crime story came out. ?????????? I work in corporate and I tell u this isn’t good for jw doesn’t matter guilty or not. Jw is being ran out of Tampa. This is the beginnning of the end.

  109. DB55 Says:

Tampa media is the only ones that want his exit
    ———————-
And the “real fans”. I’d bet my bottom dollar that at least half if not all of the people who are the most offended by these allegations voted for Trump, twice! Ijs.

  110. Getaclue Says:

Tampa media is making it a big story because it’s blown up nationally, they aren’t going to give up their home pie when everyone else is nibbling on it. We dont even know if anything happened but it’s EVERYWHERE and wouldn’t be if it weren’t for the past. If there is any shred of truth he is sadly done here

  111. DB55 Says:

So like I was saying before I was so rudely moderated lol. I bet the same people who want to run jw out of town have zero problem with the 15 accusations leveled at D-r-U-p-h. True or false?

  112. Getaclue Says:

This whole apologizing for his demeanor and things he said toward the end was very weird

  113. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah Lamarcus……That’s the unfortunate thing about it. I guess we can still hope that evidence in Winstons favor comes out and some of the media changes their tune.

Most of Tampa Bays media has always been this way. They suckle on the corporate teet ask soft lob vanilla questions during their interviews……….Not much of a chance any of them will go to bat for Winston. They won’t have enough backbone to ever let anybody think they are adverse to the movement against sexual predators, even if they know that’s not their stance.

I afraid you may be right and this may be the beginning of the end for Winston. Our sports media may be hip to date with the issues of our nation but they will put that first while we are left looking forward to another ten year rebuild.

  114. Lamarcus Says:

    Jimmyjack thank u

I do believe jw has no chance. Tampa media seems to take the embarrassment of the situation as their own.

  115. cmurda Says:

@DB55 I’m equal opportunity on this. I’m in JW’s corner and I’ll also say it’s a little tough to convict a guy talking about how women didn’t “mind” him groping them as it relates to the other person you mentioned. Sure, the guy is an idiot but I don’t know about charges being levied against him. With that said, trust me the vast majority of people have a problem with it.

  116. Lamarcus Says:

I bet my life on it some ppl wanted this to happen. This didn’t surprise me it happen either. Media feelings went on to off like a light switch. So fast???? I’m not buying it

If jw is no longer a buc I will no longer forgive this team of its failures. Even if he proving guilty Tampa should of known a did a better job of him

Sad when I think Lovie handled him better than anyone currently employed with Bucs. Bucs will failed him if not already.

  117. cmurda Says:

Sadly, I agree Lamarcus and JJack. This is one of the most cutthroat media spots in the country. It might not be huge market but they love to crucify here. I hope that JW gets a fair trial in the court of public opinion. Hey, if there’s some compelling stuff that paints Winston in a really bad light then maybe it’s too much baggage to support, but with all the weak stuff about JW that has turned out to be nothing, I’m not folding on JW. I hope the organization doesn’t either. The part about this being a business cuts both ways. There is a lot invested in JW including the GM and probably the coach’s job as well as Glazer money. The Bucs aren’t throwing in the towel on Jameis unless there is absolutely no choice.

  118. BrianBucs Says:

Guys, shouldn’t we all just want 100% of the Truth to come out, whatever it is?

  119. Lamarcus Says:

    Brianbucs

Yes the truth is want we want not something that was sweep under the rug. What I’m saying is that tampa media are running out jw. Gmc called POTUS a “coward” to me is worse. I’m black and don’t support politiCs but Trump is our guy and lack of respect by gmc BUT tampa media doesn’t say a word. ???????

The supporting part- I get it no one is gonna back up supporting sex crimes. Me either but defending jw as a guy who has everything right in their community it’s not happened. So yea this is the end of him even he if he stays put and innocent.

  120. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo can clear all of this up. Pablo was the mystery passenger in the Uber car. Hamus and Darby were in the back. Pablo had many tequilas….way too many. Please don’t hate on Pablo….Pablo loves his Bucs & tacos.”

Jameis’ injury has been much worse then the Bucs have ever been leading on to. When are you people gonna get it? They have known for WEEKS that he has a

  126. Clodhopper Says:

    DB

Since you asked, I’d like to point out my consistency on this.

  127. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Tampabaybucfan, the girl I was referring to having changed her story 4 times was the supposed rape victim, not the driver.

However, the driver DID lie. She said that it was just Jameis in the car, while both Draby AND Uber said there were multiple passengers.
(Uber’s message that was leaked asked to talk to him about himself and ‘others’ who were passengers in the car)
C’mon, Bonzai. Some $13 per hour employee leaving Jameis a generic voice mail in response to a complaint is hardly anything. “Dear Mr. Jones, we received a complaint about you or others in the Uber ride you commissioned on Jan. 1 …” Let’s not pretend that means anything either way.–Joe

  128. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @Cmurda and Roy

Thanks for that exchange. You both made excellent points…nobody had to call each other names…nobody needed to embarrass Jamies or slut shame the girl.

Well done guys! And a refreshing change.

  129. JMarkBuc Says:

So this story broke a week ago? How long does it take to get the info necessary? If I’m JW and I’m innocent, I’m all over this trying to get it cleared up. To me the longer it goes the worse it looks.

No matter what the outcome, let’s face it, JW just isn’t smart, on the field or off. Really bad decisions, repeatedly. For those that defend him because he’s 23, I call BS. I was running my own business at 23, working hard without everything handed to me on a silver platter. Point is young people can handle responsibility. If they are of a mind to do so.

  130. Buc1987 Says:

And if Fitz beats Atlanta? what you say then? HUHhhhh!!
