Crazy Dangerous

For decades, when the Bucs were halfway decent or great, they were known for defense.

Well, it seems the Bucs have entered a new era. Now, the Bucs are known for offense, not defense (unless you are talking about summertime-in-a-Porta-Potty-smelling defense).

The Bucs are second in the NFL with 392.8 total yards of offense per game. They lead the NFL in passing yards per game with 312.3.

Individually, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is No. 10 in the NFL in passing yards with 1,643. (Remember he missed three-fourths of a game and the Bucs had their bye already.) Mike Evans is No. 11 in receiving yards for wide receivers with 459, and tied for third among wide receivers with four touchdowns. Cam Brate’s four touchdowns are the second-most among NFL tight ends.

Well, at least you can’t call the Bucs are boring. At least to Joe they are not! Just how fun? Well, someone at Bleacher Report decided to do a statistical deep to show how crazy dangerous the Bucs’ offense is.

Fun stuff, man.

    Jameis isn’t the problem.

  2. InJameisWeTrust Says:

At the end of the day, we are a top 5 offense and a bottom 2 defense. Can’t win in this league like that. I have no faith in this defense this year but I am always encouraged to see Winston’s continued development and the coming together of a potential dominant offense.

  3. Born again Bucs fan Says:

Maybe it’ll be the offense who carries this team to a 5 game win streak

  4. tmaxcon Says:

get rid of the leader of the losing culture switch to a 3 – 4 problem solved. mr softee would be a great fit in dallas and a bonus it’s also close to oklahoma. the dallas fans will buy into his BS for the remaining season or two before she retires to the batcave and full time spandex.

  5. Kobe Faker Says:

“Who was the poster that said all Koetter had to do was target OJ Howard 6 times per game?”

“Just call 6 plays and Jameis and OJ howard will do the rest. Just call it and watch”

    “Kobe, Stop talking to yourself”

  6. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Jameis isn’t the problem BUT:

    – HIS OVERTHROW are a serious problem
    – HIS FORCING passes to receivers he shouldn’t be doing is a serious problem
    – HIS INTs on almost every single game are a problem

You see…..all of his flaws wouldn’t matter much if we had a FREAKING DEFENSE that actually stopped teams….but we don’t.

  7. JB Says:

At least our offense is living up to all the media hype. Too bad the defense is so incredibly bad. If they were even just middle of the road we could’ve made the playoffs this season……but then you look at our run game and realize probably not. We need so much help on defense that it may take another few years to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

Hmmnnn. Seems like we won a Superbowl when we were known for defense. Now we are known for…Just outscore them!!

  9. SB Says:

JB is right. If our D can just improve to middle of the road we can compete with Anyone. Note to Smitty: Unleash LVD. Call Schiano and ask him how he did it.

i’d rather a gambler leading my team throwing a few picks than a conservative qb playing scared with only goal is to protect ball. sure i’d like to see jameis clean a few passes up per game but he is hardly the problem.

buc fan has a psychological problem with offense they were sold by the one dimensional dungy that all you need is defense and the low standard fans who claim that 2 playoff wins in six years represent “Glory Years” versus “underachieving years” can not be told anything different. The league has changed it’s a passing league and one dimensional dinosaurs with career losing playoff records have been proven wrong time and time again. Give me the damn gambler with heart everyday and twice on sunday. we have had too many conservative players, coaches and gm’s which has clearly failed 5 good seasons and 1 great in 41 is not a successful track record to defend Defense first football or that tampa is a defensive town. be conservative fiscally but not on sundays!

  11. Nutterbuccer Says:

@thebucsanthem – forcing INT almlst every game. Winston has thrown an INT in 2 of the 6 games played. And historically has done the same thing. He usually throws his INT in bunches. Not ebery game . Rather have a baller like him than a checkdown Charlie. If defense doesn’t suck and Humphries doesn’t fumble, if we cut folk and had murray in the pats game, this team is 4-2. The bucs have just had a bad break so far this year hopefully we can turn it around, this is the week we have to do it.

  12. Tampa Bay Tailgater Says:

We all just need to set the expectation in our minds that this Defense is going to give up big plays and points so leaning on what we’re the best at, Offense will be key. Time of Possession, keeping cam cam on the sideline with his Gatorade turban on will be a great site to watch as we march up and down the field. We need Doug to get 20+ carries if possible to wear on this D and open up the playbook during the second half. Can’t wait! Go Bucs!

  13. NFLNut Says:

Jameis is on pace for 4,807 yards, 30 TDs and 12 picks …. if we were 4-2 like we should be, he’d be firmly in the MVP race with Brady, Wentz and Smith … I don’t want to see Jameis’ career wasted the way Fouts, Marino and Moon’s careers were wasted!

  14. Ray Rice Says:

Calling Rex Ryan!!!…. Your services are needed on line 1. (Defense)

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

The Broncos made it all the way to the Superbowl with just offense…and then they lost. The next year, they showed up with a defense and won.

Defense wins championships, whether it’s division, conference or league championships.

If we can fix out defense and further refine the offense, we’ll be the next Patriots. All it takes is patience on the part of the fans while Licht turns his attention to the defense now.

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Mike Smith is a good enough coach. He just needs more talent on a unit that has mostly been neglected the past 5 years.

  17. tmaxcon Says:

    bonzi

not true defense wins a SINGLE CHAMPIONSHIP and Offensive Dynasties Win MULTIPLE Championships… The last 5 primarily defensive champions have WON one and done while offensive juggernauts like pittsburgh (go count offensive players in hall of fame before responding please), san francisco, dallas and patriots all win with dominate franchise qb and offense with a sold defenses. They win multiple championships not one and done.

defense wins championship is wrong and as outdated as the mindset that female school teachers are safe to be around students

  18. Waterboy Says:

Good stats and a move in the right direction but I’ll be excited when they’re a top 5 or 10 scoring offense. Yards are great but scoring is what counts.

  19. Jim Says:

If the defense can get its head out of it’s @ss and tackle/cover better we’d be fine. The bucs have a DEEP playoff calibre offense.

  20. LakeLand Says:

Blah, blah, blah the Bucs are DEAD LAST in the NFC South.

  21. Pickgrin Says:

    You know what’s fun? WINNING!

  22. Lamarcus Says:

Damn tmaxcon is on a roll this morning

  23. 813bucboi Says:

all the stats are good(I guess) but winning would be great!!!!….GO BUCS!!!

  24. darin Says:

Alot of garbage yards in vikes, pats n cards games. The offense is good enough tho. Weve seen them very good when dirk gets his head out of his rear n calls a good game. Theres no chance this defense suddenly turns great tho. So the offense NEEDS to jump out to an early big lead for this team to have success. Or maybe smith blitzes alot regardless of the score. I hope he does something different this week. Getting unwatchable

  25. webster Says:

    Tmaxx

You are wrong. Those dallas and san fran dynastise all had great defenses as well. They were good on both sides of the ball. The patriots won their first 3 super bowls due to defense and they did not win again until they shored that side up again. The giants won due to defense (all of their superbowls). Now the recent packers and saints won only one superbowl. Why? Because the year they won, the defenses were good. The pack had the dpoy and the saints led the league in turnovers. Since then, their teams defense has not come close to those performances and they have not made it to a super bowl with all that offensive fire power. You better believe defense wins championships.

  26. Reach87 Says:

Tmax you’re a moron. You know nothing about football. Besides latching on to someone else’s idea to switch to a 34 (mid-season)because you think it will support your idea to get rid of McCoy, how would that switch work? Don’t try to answer with drivel…we know you haven’t a clue.

  27. 813bucboi Says:

the last team to repeat had a dominate defense….stopped favre and that high powered offense in their tracks….

seattle could’ve been the latest to repeat with their defense but they tried to make the offense and Russell look good….GO BUCS!!!!
