Bucs Injury List Shrinks

October 2nd, 2017

Bring on the Patriots — in three days!

Great news out of One Buc Palace. Today’s official injury report is out and only four Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on it.

Kwon Alexander (hamstring), Lavonte David (ankle), Keith Tandy (hip) and T.J. Ward (hip) did not practice today. Keep in mind, practice the day after a game on a short week isn’t exactly a practice.

But it’s great to see that Robert Ayers’ knee is good and off the injury list, as is Noah Spence’s shoulder and Gerald McCoy’s ankle, and more.

Joe talked to Lavonte David last night after the game, and he was very upbeat about his ankle progress — as well as the huge play by Kendell Beckwith.

The Bucs are darn healthy all things considered. Joe hopes rookie safety Justin Evan is more than just healthy. Joe can just hear the drool falling of Tom Brady’s chin.

Man I hope TJ comes back soon!

  2. JerseyBucsFan Says:

Same here with TJ. on that long pass to OBJ evans jumped on the inside route

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Looks like yesterday’s game didn’t create more injuries…(except Tandy)….let’s hope he or TJ or both are a go for Thurs.

I think Evans is OK for some snaps but probably not ready for Prime Time (literally)

  4. KingCrabLeggs Says:

I pray that the d-line can push the pocket up the middle. Brady will be looking to set records this Thursday. I really hope guys like VH3 can stand up aginst these quick little WRs on the Pat’s side.

  5. BushidoEvans Says:

Good eye @JerseyBucsFan. For all the VH3 haters he saved Evans’ mistake by recovering because he was supposed to have a safety over the top there. If he doesn’t play that and have great recognition there OBJ would still be running as I type this.

  6. sorryitriggeredyou Says:

Man we need Tandy and Ward. Ya’ll remember Cooks right? That mfer eats bucs DBs for lunch. He’s Keenum as a WR.

  7. Defense Rules Says:

Agree that the Bucs are healthy on the offensive side of the ball (unlike last year), but we’re still hurting on the defensive side of the ball Joe. Two out of 4 safeties out (Ward & Tandy) … not good. Two starting LBs out (David & Kwon) … still not good. Two DEs not running on all 8-cylinders (Spence & Jack Smith) … and we didn’t have any real depth there to start with. Several others banged up but able to play. Patriots can be beaten I’m convinced, but Bucs will need to bring their A-game to win. Here’s hoping Martin gets the running game moving. Looking for us to run it 25 times total against the Pats & gain 125 yds. They’re susceptible to the run & short pass. Carolina ate them up with a solid run game (especially up the gut), short passing game & with an occasional deep pass thrown in to keep ’em honest. We need to do the same.

  8. RayJameisStadium Says:

Any news of DE J. Smith comeback day or week?

  9. DB55 Says:

I just hope it’s cold on Thursday night, I want some ice cream in the fourth qrt but it always melts by then.

  10. tmaxcon Says:

Must be a type O no softie he’ll surely be listed by Thursday would not want his injury list streak to be in jeopardy iafter all that is what he is known best for

  11. AlteredEgo Says:

Fingers crossed they’ll be back ….after the game 3 days off and a 1/2 day check in on Monday afternoon…Rx….Rasta was the last real Buc fan….

  12. rrsrq Says:

I would be more confident with Ward, Kwon and Lavonte out there, but it is what it is, FG’s will not do it this game, we will need TD’s, so DJax and JW better get on the same page and Jaquizz better not get caught by linemen and Conte/Evans better be talking to each other in their sleep

  13. pick6 Says:

patriots can be scored on, but the teams that have hung with them have been the ones who’ve had at least modest success disrupting tom brady and forcing a few punts along the way. especially with our best blitzing LBs still out, i hope our d line is getting healthier and stronger and will be ready to step up their game thursday night or the patriots will top 50 points and brady will complete over 80% of his passes

  14. Cobraboy Says:

How is Spence’s shoulder off the list? I thought he popped it back into place…

  15. RayJameisStadium Says:

Now would ideal to have DE J. Smith.

  16. johnnybuc Says:

i think tj will be back but i expect evans to play and thought he did well on sunday

  17. Roy T. Buford Says:

I have no idea what drool falling off a chin sounds like, and don’t want to learn. On Thursday, I would rather learn what pewter gloves sound like crinkling up a blue color rush jerzey. If we don’t, it won’t matter whether it’s Justin Evan or T.J. Ward…can’t give Brady kind of time Eli had last night.

  18. Roy T. Buford Says:

So…..with Ayers and Spence and Ward all “healthy” along with McDonald and Ghoulston…can we PLEASE get to the QB?

  19. Dave Says:

That’s good but as good as the backup LBs are, missing Kwon and LVD is Yuuuuge Florida!

Same can be said with Tandy and Ward out because of the experience level drop off.

Thursday would be a great time for Spence to become Von Miller Junior !!

The Bucs offense needs to be more efficient this week when in the red zone and they can put up 30+.
    They may need it

  20. DB55 Says:

Jameis gonna be awestruck playing against his hero. I wish him the best. He may have a career game, playing to your competition and all that stuff.

  21. Oj "I Got The Juice" Howard Says:

Glennon got benched in Chicago btw

  22. AlteredEgo Says:

Hopefully everyone in the Bay area can go see the game live…until you have seen Brady play live one simply can not understand his ability to throw a football….TV makes it all look the same…I’d love to see him throw to our WR’s & TE’s….among the best of all time !

  23. Doctor Stroud Says:

The Bucs are fortunate, considering that other teams have key injuries, such as Derek Carr and Dalvin Cook. Still, I don’t want to go through another game without Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander! If Alexander misses another game due to a “hamstring issue”, you all have my permission, as the premiere authority on speculating injuries from an air conditioned office, to speculate on his “real” injury.

  24. NOSBOS Says:

F@$! juice man brady Joe. If Mike Smith gose against traditional wisdom and remove a LB and add another DB or safety we handle them easy. They are aware of the success keenum had against us,trust me they’re gameplan will be to air us out. H3ll I wouldn’t be opposed to going quarters all game. They will not be interested in running the football Thursday, they will pass heavy Mike Smith. Make the adjustment. Our base sets won’t cut it. Screw sacks just push the pocket and people get your hands up.

  25. cmurda Says:

The only saving grace with the Pats receivers is that none of them have elite speed which could help VH3, but there’s too much that is scary. We have no depth at safety and we already have questionable talent there as it is, Smitty has the corners playing off and Brady will take the quick hitches all day long, most importantly our D Line has created no pressure. If Brady has time to throw like Eli did, he will carve us up even if his receivers were baggers from Publix.

  26. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Everyone is too focused on Brady vs our defense… we can out score them if Jamie’s doesn’t turn it over

  27. AlteredEgo Says:

If frogs had wings they wouldn’t bump their ass when the hopped….

  28. SOEbuc Says:

PRESS COVERAGE! At least five yards back instead of ten.

  29. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Defense Rules, nice post. I completely agree. I wanted the Patriots off a win, but it is what it is. Let’s see Koetter out-scheme Belichick. Let’s go!!!

  30. Buc believer Says:

Surprised to see the perennial injury lister not on the list. Funny he made the photo for the article though.

  31. JAB83 Says:

    Law of Averages.

    Bucs will get they’re sacks.

    At this rate.

    When they do!!!

It will be sleepy time for the opposing team.

All great players meet they’re end sometimes.

Ask Jerry Rice and Steve Young what Tampa did to them!!!

  32. Reach87 Says:

Every team every year has at least 3 players on the injury list the majority of the year. Look beyond your snotty nose and recognize our arguably best defensiv player always plays, plays while hurt, goes hard, and as has been mentioned by offensive coordinators (as opposed to morons who know nothing but envy about pro football) time and time again as a “game wrecker” who must be accounted for. Go Bucs!

  33. NOSBOS Says:

The matchup is juice man brady vs our defense. If Mike Smith isn’t unconventional this game will be a shoot out. Coming down to who ever has ball last. Koetter doesn’t have to out gameplan Belichess his defense sucks. He told one too many good football player “get the f@$! outta here,I don’t need you”. Coming back to bite him. 456 yards a game size bite.

  34. JimmyJack Says:

We might be just fine with our 2nd string LBs because they were hungry yesterday trying to stip the ball……..Maybe they pry one loose against one of the Pats inexperienced runners and that could be just what the doctor ordered.

The big factor weighing against us is coaching…….Simply put Dirk sucks out loud when you look at the details……..It’s been 3 years now and he refuses to assemble a decent goalline package, that is a disgrace. Yesterday he gives the Giants 10 extra seconds before halftime and the Patriots will make us pay for that blunder(near guarantee). Also from yesterday, football 101, is to leave a few extra ticks on a 3rd down FG to counter any missnaps. Dirk Koetter seemingly has his head up his azz on most gamedays and the talent of the team is bailing him out. He was totally outcoached in that 2nd half yesterday allowing them to take the lead. This team is not ready to compete yet and our Head Coach is a big part of the reason.

  35. NOSBOS Says:

Jack I didn’t quite understand why he didn’t throw the red flag on the Conte fumble recovery. We might’ve lost the challenge but time outs weren’t a concern, the giants were not trying to kill the clock they were trying to score as quickly as possible. I also found it a little odd we player for the kick instead of trying to score a touch. Fameis was for the most part on the money all game. But hey just his second year head coaching, seems like he’s learning on the fly like everyone else.

  36. JimmyJack Says:

forgot that one NOSBOS……Makes you wonder what in the heck goes on in our sideline/booth. That was a pivotal play. Inexcusable to not throw a red flag on that play. The replay I saw it was a very clear fumble. Not too sure about the recovery but Conte did come up with it. Another blunder in game management IMO

  37. NOSBOS Says:

Questions??? Am I the only posters to over hear the commentator state yesterday the Bucs lead the entire league in QB Pressures??? If that’s the case then to say we have no pass rush isn’t true. To me there’s a reason those pressures aren’t being turned into sacks and that’s because of the soft coverage on the back end. If the D line had a extra second or half second maybe then we would see our guys peeling themselves off of QBs. Ion care how Big the names are if your corners are off all game you’re not getting many sacks because I’m releasing the ball in 2.5 seconds on yo @$$. Lets go Mike Smith this ish is elementary.

  38. JimmyJack Says:

Our QB pressure is nothing to write home about. We consistently give up 1st downs on 3rd and long. If our pressure was decent that simply would not be the case. Mike Smith needs to adjust on 3rd and long and get of off the field with more heat.

  39. JimmyJack Says:

Also, Ayers may be the worst passrushing player to line up at end in the whole league. The dude is an absolute stiff in the pass game. Golston needs more snaps, he has stepped up year.

  40. Defense Rules Says:

NOSBOS … Are you sure the Bucs lead the league in QB pressures? We’ve only played 3 games; everyone else has played 4. Was looking at our stats thus far and Bucs only have 1 sack this year. WAY behind others in our division (Falcons have 12, Saints have 11 & Panthers have 11). Against the better teams that could very well end up being our Achilles Heel.

AlteredEgo is right again. There is nothing like seeing a game in person. So much better than watching on TV. Anyone who has the means owes it to themselves to try it at least once.

    TampaTown

You are dead wrong sir or ma’am… you obviously have not watched a game on TV with two strippers and a bottle of Jameson

  47. tmaxcon Says:

Joe how do you like the kinder gentler and politically correct tmaxcon dropping the sir or ma’am… All hail Joe and screw Doug Martin… Glasses up!!!!

@tmaxcon: You are correct sir. I have not watched a game in that manner.

Do we have any updates on the progress of Kwon? Him being out is huge for our lack of pass rush.
