Sweezy Feels Breezy

September 28th, 2017

“Jason, please tell me that injury report yesterday was just a joke.”

Of course we are three days from when the beat-up Bucs will face the desperate Giants, so who knows who will be hurt next?

Yesterday, Joe had the shivers when the Wednesday injury report included starting guard J.R. Sweezy, limited in practice due to a back injury.

(This was Joe’s immediate reaction when he opened and read the e-mail.)

Of course, we all know that last year shortly after signing a weighty contract, Sweezy mysteriously blew out his back, needed surgery and was on floppy hat patrol the entire year. Not once did Sweezy even snap on a chin strap in underwear football.

And yes, Joe couldn’t find, not even in the outer reaches of Google’s tentacles, any example of an offensive lineman missing a full season with back surgery and returning the following year to start 16 games.

Joe got a brief chance to chat with Sweezy today and he told Joe he’s “good,” when Joe asked if he has a green light to start Sunday against the Giants. When the media scrum suffocated Sweezy at his locker, Sweezy said his back just felt tight yesterday.

Joe hopes this is all it is. Lot can happen between Thursday afternoon and when the inactives are announced 90 minutes before kickoff.

And, yeah, Joe’s been waiting to use that headline for some time.

Please give me TJ info Joe!!!

Saw him in a card game today.

Yesterday Joe asked Ward about his status Sunday and he shrugged his shoulders and said “Day-to-day.”

^^ Good to hear on Sweezy, not so much on Ward.

  6. Pistol Pete Says:

Ward not in the secondary could be disastrous against Manning.
If we cannot get these guys healthy we will be staring at 1-3 for the first quarter. I don’t like our chances healthy against Brady and whatever no name WR corp he deploys.
Then @ Arizona (debacle in game #2 LY) Buffalo and the Panthers in that order.
Season could slip away fast unless we get on track and shore up the D ASAP.

Doubt they still are, but the stooges were very popular daily watching on tv sets across the entire state of IL. back in the day… I take it you would agree @Joe(Lee)? Loved the link.

If we dont get more of our starters back, in the words of Connor, WE ARE FOOOKED!

  9. Lamarcus Says:

Again Sweezy gettING absolutely mauled out there in vikings game should not only hurt ur back again but hurt your confidence even more

  10. pick6 Says:

we did alright late last year with no TJ Ward in sight. Same safeties who shut down the seahawks and saints in Tampa last year. missing our 2 best linebackers on the other hand…

  11. Atrain4047 Says:

I think it’s safe to say Roy Cummings annoys the crap out of dirk koetter, the way today’s press conference went

  12. Bucn Enough Says:

I think the caption should read…”Jason…this is why we have not offered you a long term contract” you keep signing looser free agents and waste second round picks like they are candy”.

  13. Roy T. Buford Says:

He11, if any one is allowed to kneel, should be Sweezy. The rest…stand yo a$$es up!

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

Nope..there Roy Buford. Sweezy should not be allowed to knell. Hell, he stole millions from the Bucs last season. You kiddin me?

  15. I'm a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

If Ward doesn’t play Sunday and Tandy does and we WIN after what happened against Minnesota. And if Ward bumps Tandy again upon his return I shall take a knee and maybe jump back on the Patriot wagon and ride off into the sunset!!!😎

  16. BigMacAttack Says:

But Luke Stocker is still healthy

  17. GhostofSchiano Says:

Watch the break out of Mr. Chris Conte……………. write it down.

  18. SOEbuc Says:

Dang. Shrugged shoulders and saying “day to day” does not sound good. Most players will at least usually lie and say “oh I’ll be fine, good to go.” Doubt TJ is gonna be playin Sunday. Shoot.
