Jason Licht: “Almost A Healthy Crew For That Opening Weekend”

September 1st, 2017

GM Jason Licht

So who are the injured not-ready-for-opening-day Buccaneers?

Is Mike Evans’ questionable “fifth metatarsal” part of the problem, as heard on Hard Knocks this week?

(Joe had to replay the audio of that scene about eight times to finally comprehend what a Bucs medical official told Dirk Koetter. Man, Joe is going to miss going all Zapruder on Hard Knocks. One more episode to go!)

Last night on the Buccaneers Radio Network, general manager Jason Licht said the Bucs would have “almost a healthy crew for that opening weekend” against the Dolphins in nine short days.

Joe is praying Licht was not referring to Kwon Alexander’s bad hammy. Let it be Devante Bond and/or Ryan Griffin that need more time.

In all, the Bucs came out of preseason without a “major” injury to a star player. That’s what Joe calls winning the preseason.

Did you guys see what skip said about dirk and the coaching staff?

  2. Brandon Says:

With the HK creative editing, I didn’t bother trying to figure out who did what to their metatarsal (foot).

  3. Stanglassman Says:

fifth metatarsal- what? A bruise, fracture? That’s the bone that’s in the foot, most outer one to your pinkeye toe. I broke it and was out six weeks.

  4. BigHogHaynes Says:

@ Dirks Great Granpappy: I believe I heard him say quote “the coaching staff seems to be in over their heads” and I think I heard the term “high-schoolish”! I think that is what I heard!! Very different from most knowledgeable opinions around this part of the country!!!

  5. NOSBOS Says:

skip is pro dallas cowgirls and any team that comes along and threatens they’re chances of a superbowl bid will be degraded on his whack @$$ show. Him saying that to me is the greatest compliment. He was in awwwh of us draft night after snagging Oj. He not the only one know we are about to be a problem. Sadly many here are slow to that fact.

  6. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Skip Bayless is literally going insane. Have you heard his incoherent ramblings about the Super fight? I’m seriously concerned this guy is about to have a real breakdown on Tv one of these days.

Lets trade Hump to the Pats for Malcom Butler and a 4th rounder?? I’m down.

In my entire life of hearing Skip talk about sports, I think I have agreed with him exactly one time. And that was years ago.

Here’s what he said about Dirk and the coaches:

“I don’t like a head coach who’s constantly all over his quarterback in practice. It’s too hard a position to play. Do that behind closed doors. Don’t mug for the cameras. I don’t love it. It feels like Dirk Koetter is insecure enough as the head coach that he’s trying to point the finger constantly at Jameis, planting excuses in case of: ‘Don’t blame me. He still makes these dumb throws.’ Dirk Koetter isn’t good enough to do that. As much as I like this team on the verge, I think the coaching staff is going to present a ceiling for this team. That’s just my gut feeling: They might limit how far this team can go.”

    lol what a rube.

  11. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Anyone know if JJ Wilcox is injured? He left the game limping Thursday, and I didn’t notice if he came back in.

  12. TheBucsAnthem Says:

SENDING OUT AN SOS for some DB help!!!!!!!

If the GM and HC doesn’t see this crippling effect that could end our season early. ……….both of them should be fired at the end of the season. ………..we need help now!!!!

  13. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Good move getting sheldon richardson… oh wait a super bowl caliber team did, we are hoping on jaquise smith smh

  14. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Bucs Anthem right on… stevie wonder can see the back end is sub par

Bring on the Dolphins! I am ready to see what this offense can do with the 3 new weapons Jameis got. Did they ever ALL play at the same time in the first 2 preseason games? I hope not, because they ONLY scored 1 TD while JW was running the offense. They better be ready to score 30 points next Sunday, cause the Phins are going to run for about 200 yards on this defense that isn’t any better at stopping the run than they were last year. Is Baker going to make this D any better or is he here to make jokes and get paid like a clown?

We should have NO problem getting the 10 wins I said we would have last year, but after watching HK’s this year I’m NOT so sure. When your team is practicing so bad that your coach won’t even say he expects at least 10 or 12 wins this year, you know they aren’t that good. No matter what, Winston needs to step up and become the player we ALL WANT him to be and MOST of you (including Joe) think he is already. I still DON’T see it, maybe glimpses here and there.

NO MORE EXCUSES though! You’ve got speed in DJax and Godwin now and a TE to put on the field with Brate, with an empty backfield. On paper they seem as though they will be UNSTOPABLE. Is that 2 P’s? Jameis looks like he is still having trouble scoring inside the 10 yard line. Say it isn’t so, Joe! Not sure I would put much faith in the running game until Dougie Fresh comes back. Hope he can put up the numbers he put up in 2015 and STAY healthy because I don’t have much faith in the other RB’s. Man I want some football, Go BUCS!

    I agree,

    Keep Smith,

    Hire Gruden

  17. Mike Says:

Our Backup QB is terrible, our defense is a bit sparse all over
