Doug Martin Status Unchanged

September 5th, 2017

Still suspended.

Joe isn’t sure how or why this got started but it has turned into a bonfire.

Doug Martin is still suspended. And he will have to serve the three-game balance of his four-game suspension in the first three games the Bucs play this season, wherever or whenever the first three games are played.

For some reason, folks think — at least that’s what it seems on Twitter — that Hurricane Irma has wiped out Martin’s suspension. This is not even remotely accurate.

Martin was never suspended for “weeks.” He was suspended for “games.”

So no, despite a lot of wishful thinking, Martin won’t be back with the Bucs this month and maybe not until Oct. 5 when the Bucs host the Belicheats.

Thanks, Joe. I got tired of reading this on every comment section.

  2. webster Says:

And that line of thinking is another example of why many laugh at tampa fans. How was this ever a thought? Im embarrassed.

  3. PanthersSuck! Says:

I was surprised to learn that his suspension was being deferred till 2019.

  4. Rod Munch Says:

webster – It was probably mostly fantasy football players who want to know if Martin will be back for week 4 or not.

  5. unbelievable Says:

LOL I couldn’t believe that many ppl were asking either…

  6. Long Season Says:

Yeah. You know. It is Twitter. That is why I don’t participate on Twitter.

  7. Defense Rules Says:

Finally, what I’ve been waiting for. Bucs just announced they’ve signed Will Clarke, DE from the Bengals. Taking Channing Ward’s spot on the DLine. Clarke had 4 sacks last year for the Bengals, not bad for a rotational DE . Played for Jay Hayes 2014 & 2015 so shouldn’t take too long to fit right in. Big guy … 6’6″ & 275 lbs. I feel better now. Can’t wait until we sign an experienced CB.

  8. Cobraboy Says:

Anyone who didn’t know a suspension is for games is a chucklehead.

  9. Doctor Stroud Says:

Those people clearly suffer from proprioception.

  10. Tom S. Says:

Well at least we have Dalvi…..oh wait, that’s Minnesota who traded up for him, because our GM only wants to trade up for FSU kickers in the 2nd round not all-time leading rushers. :-\

  11. Joeypoppems Says:

Yea I dont really understand the logic of those people

  12. Joeypoppems Says:

Damn, I left this site for months and people still whinning over not having Dalvin Cook. Move on already people!

  13. Rod Munch Says:

On a non-panicking note can we get Hard Knocks extended for another week? This hurricane drama of cancelling the game, will it hit or not, etc – that would be some good stuff.

  14. JAB83 Says:

Ok so I was the guy saying a running game wouldn’t matter the first 3 weeks regardless just based on the fact we are facing soft pass D’s.

I want to correct myself……. Oh wait never mind, NYG cant cover no one either…
    Go Figure…

Rogers will do for the first 3 regardless…. All we need to do is scare them with some big runs in the first half…. Like 2 or 3 runs of 10 plus should do… Maybe pop a 20 yarder in there and things will open up nice for our 4th quarter wonder boy of a QB….

No worries about a run game for the first half of the season….

Now come playoff stretch…. Well if we aint running the ball kiss them dreams goodbye!!!!

Take it to the bank folks!!!!

  15. SB Says:

If Irma hits I will get to meet A Lot of you guys!!! I will make it a priority if I travel 2800 miles!

  16. SB Says:

Good to c u again Pops!

  17. webster Says:

    @ joey

People still crying about dalvin is also an embarrassment and why many laugh at tampa fans.

  18. Stanglassman Says:

Defense Rules- I read. Clarke was originally a third-round pick for the CIncinnati Bengals in 2014, and played for them for three season, racking up 22 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 35 games and no starts—he was a part-time player throughout.

  19. SB Says:

For the Dalvin Cook fans I will bet $100 that Christian McCaffery will be MUCH more productive!!! I would take CMC in the second round if I were a Fantasy

  20. Rod Munch Says:

What happened to Howard Jones? That guy looked good in 2015 with 5 sacks in very limited playing time and then didn’t do anything last year.

  21. tmaxcon Says:

Best thing bucs and bucfans is a Martin relapse prior to reinstatement so he will not screw his teammates again. Martin is a proven unreliable pos. Next

  22. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    @SB

Just don’t make any bets with your buddy Nos because even if you win he won’t pay you.

  23. webster Says:

D@mn tmax. Who are you to call someone you dont know a POS? Totally out of line. Thats truly taken it too far.

  24. stpetebucsfan Says:

This is happening because hope springs eternal in the DMM.

  25. Gencoimports Says:

I wonder what tmax would say to Martin if he was hanging off a cliff and Martin was the only person to pull him up?

  26. Brian Says:

Webster, its because Tmax himself is a POS…

  27. Pickgrin Says:

According to Joe’s previous stance that was reinforced multiple times during the off season and TC – there’s a 90% chance that Doug Martin will NEVER be back in a Buccaneer uniform.

Sounds like now that tune is changing.

Bout time Joe faced reality regarding Martin.

Nothing is assured as the Bucs brass have said in different ways over and over – but most signs point to Martin returning to the Bucs after his suspension is concluded. 80% chance or better I’d say.

  28. Lamarcus Says:

I have a 100 percent chance dm will be starter week 4. Next year better replace him

  29. Billy Buc N Brazil Says:

I’d say the odds are 50/50. One thing is for sure if they move the dolphins game to our bye week Dougie will definitely not be on the field week 4 vs the Patriots. That my friends is a bummer!!!

  30. webster Says:

    @ billy

Why do you say that? Doug only has a 3 game suspension. If they move the miami game, he would miss chicago, minnisota, and new york. He would be back for the pats.

  31. Dave Says:

    Webster

Not true. Every group of fans from every sports team has a section (or 5) of idiots. That market is not cornered here

  32. Dave Says:

DM needs to perform like he is capable of when it counts. So far in the preseason he looked much better than any other running bacK.
Regardless, next year is looking to be a year of drafting line men, a running back, and another corner

  33. Dave Says:

    Tom S?????

Seriously? Licht is proving to be the best GM this organization is ever had and you are busy bitching about someone you think maybe good. You’re also still bitching about a bad move, something every GM does about 50% of the time if they are average to good

  34. Billy Buc N Brazil Says:

    @ Webster

My bad bud!! Yes, he would be back for the Pats, but miss the Giants game.

  35. webster Says:

    @ dave

Yes, every fan base has a section of uneducated fans, but tampa fans are considered uneducated as a whole and thoughts like with the martin suspension does not help. That is true.

  36. bucs_365 Says:

    people are foeken dumb
