“This One Has A Hole In It”

August 8th, 2017

Drinking with Jason Licht.

A lot of general managers, not all, but a lot of NFL honchos sort of think they are above the people. They’d rather tolerate a losing season than to have to deal with the proletariat.

But Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht? He’s one of us.

In a short piece on Tuesday’s season premiere of “Hard Knocks,” in which players were featured participating in some of their favorite activities on their day off from training camp (bowling, dancing and scuba diving were among the activities), the show then showed the front of a Tampa water hole.

Inside? Licht had brought his staff for a “committee meeting.”

Apparently, key tools to this meeting were baskets of wings and pint glasses to hold adult beverages. The chatter circled around how Licht’s staff has a monthly meeting at the establishment.

At one point a waitress asks if anyone needed any help. Licht holds up a pint glass with minimal beer in it, smiles broadly and says, “This one has a hole in it.”

Licht added about the monthly meetings, “Our best ideas come from here.”
