Drew Brees “Scared?”

August 7th, 2017

Bucs on the brain.

Let’s just say the Bucs are on the mind of future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees.

Over the weekend, in case you missed it (Joe did, on purpose), there were Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremonies in Canton, plus the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday.

(Full disclosure: One Joe at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters absolutely loathes preseason games and only pays any attention to the Bucs’ preseason because it is important to his job. Football works just fine without preseason games on every level except for the NFL, where fans are gouged full value to watch glossed up controlled scrimmages with dudes who next month will be high school teachers, insurance claims adjusters and FedEx clerks. These things are an insult to thinking football fans and a total joke when the NFL claims they are all about player safety.)

At the induction ceremony, NFL Network caught up with Brees, who was there to support his former Chargers teammate, LaDainian Tomlinson. When asked about this season, Brees, by way of the Pewter Plank, seems frightened with the Bucs.

“That’s an extremely talented Tampa team that I think we all have to worry about,” Brees said.

Who knows if Brees is actually scared or not since Tampa Bay added DeSean Jackson, O.J. Howard, Chris Baker, Chris Godwin and J.J. Wilcox? Certainly, the Bucs are in his head.

Joe just hopes Gerald McCoy is lying on Brees’ prone body several times this season.

He knows this defense is into the second year. Signing Smitty was when the word “WORRY” came to mind.

This year we will make the word “RETIREMENT” come to mind to the following people:

    Drew Brees
    Adrian Peterson
    Mr. Deflated
    BillyCheat

“I have to face them twice a year? What was I thinking?,” AP

    Go Bucs!!!

I think Bree’s is an amazing QB! But I also think this is the year we start to see his level of play drop off.

You just degraded a lot of really good players or people because they’re going to get cut from the team will no longer be in the NFL who knows they may become sportswriters who knows they may go back to school and get their doctorate who knows they may become doctors, lawyers …go into coaching .. these are guys fighting for their last days of football which has been most of their lives, not just FedEx delivery guys or Insurance claim Adjusters…..
I think these preseason games are very fun to watch for those bubble guys in the guys that are just playing not for the money but for their careers in the sport they love.

I agree jdr not only are these games a huge deal for those bubbble guys but it also allows the coaches to evaluate them more accurately in a live game. I think everyone would agree with Joe that the full price for the ticket sales is ridiculous but I wouldn’t make it sound like the preseason games are useless

Jesus respect and fear are two seperate things! Seems like respect for legit opponent. I doubt brees fear any team at this point in his career!

I think if we rough up the Super Bowl Champion Qb like we did at the start of the 2002 season in San Fran, we’ll be off the charts feared & respected!

We made Young hang up his cleats it marked the beginning of a mini era for the Bucs!

This time we have a legitimate QB and a cap-smart GM…the two required ingredients in any superbowl teams. (Jason Licht > Ted Thompson)

Its still quite a mystery to me why we didn’t take a chance on AP for only $3M but instead let him sign with a division rival. I have a feeling that if Peterson can stay healthy he is going to have a big year.

I share your fear about AP. Wish he had signed with an AFC team.

St. Pete. Just joined the football pool. Thanks for the invite. I agree that Brees isn’t afraid, per se, but we are clearly on his mind as we are a lot of teams. We aren’t gonna sneak up on anyone for the next several years, so it’s time to stop talking and start chalking!!! We finally have a team that other teams will not be taking lightly. GO BUCS!!!

My bad SB!! Thanks for the invite to the football pool.

Drew Brees is severely underrated as an all-time great QB … he’s in the GOAT discussion imho as I don’t view “team success” as all that important in assessing “individual greatness”.
