Connecting With The Fans

August 30th, 2017

Dancing with a fan.

You know, Joe doesn’t think the Bucs organization has really connected with the fans like this current team has. And it showed on “Hard Knocks.”

Of course, we all know how much Dirk Koetter enjoys the Stick Carriers and how he was warmly embraced by them as he greeted the Stick Carriers after training camp takeover day earlier this month.

Last night, there was another example.

During a camp practice, Bucs stud Gerald McCoy was chatting briefly with Koetter, who noticed a little girl in the stands dancing to a song on the loudspeakers. Koetter pointed her out to GMC and told hie to go dance with her. “Go get her.”… “Bring that little girl out here to dance.”

GMC smiled and jogged to the stands where a man handed her to GMC as he said, “Come dance with me.”

And GMC did.

He and the little girl bounced to the music on the practice field.

When Joe witnessed this at practice, he had never seen anything like that before. Oh, Joe has seen special guests of the Bucs, children who allowed on the field after practice to play around with Bucs players. But this little girl was just and with ordinary Bucs fans happy to be watching their favorite team at practice.

There really seems to be a special bond growing between fans and the Bucs that Joe hasn’t seen in a long while, not since the glory days when Warren Sapp and John Lynch and Derrick Brooks and Mike Alstott were playing in Pro Bowls.

Now this is a truly relevant story..Absolutely no sarcasm intended.

  2. MadMax Says:

I laughed while watching it. He knows how to have fun. And we know what our D line is like without him!

  3. Capt.Tim Says:

Absolutely Joe. I loved our Superbowl team
But we have NEVER had two Happy, Super talented, Fan friendly Players Like Jameis and McCoy.
Both are Elite talents- who really seem to love the fans!
I cant wait for these guys to start racking up the playoff wins!!
This is a team you cant help but like( except meybe Bobo, lol)

    . . . Buuuut, still need a De . . .

If they go 6-10 all their “connecting” with the fans will mean nothing. The Dungy teams connected with the area, year 1 of Gruden connected with the area, that’s because those teams won – and it was electric, it was impossible to get tickets, it was fun going to games, everyone talked about the Bucs and nothing else. That’s connecting with fans. I really like Winston and I’ve defended McCoy forever and I like our guys now, but if they don’t win, that won’t mean anything. You “connect” with fans by winning – if they can win a SuperBowl they’ll be the 2nd most connected with the fans Bucs team in team history – because nothing is like the 1st time. But I’m really really really looking forward to the 2nd time.

Nah, The best part was watching GMC and McDonald doing drills in their Japanese voices. Man I had a good laugh That was the best thing I’ve ever seen

  6. Bob in Valrico Says:

Anyway the team can connect with fans is a step in the right direction.Ultimate goal is get more Bucs fans in the seats and not fans from the other team.It
would be great to have the 12 th man advantage.

  7. Bucs Fan Since '76 Says:

    Absolutely DB55!

Bob in Valrico- Go deep in the playoffs and the billboards will start popping up all over town again! Remember those? What were they, 50,000 on the waiting list for season tickets? Win more than you lose and contend for the Lombardi trophy consistently for years and the seats will be full again. Packed out house even for the pre season games!

It may be obvious by my nickname “Smokeymountain buc fan” where I now reside. It doesn’t stop me from connecting and staying connected! I’ll drive the 700 miles to Tampa (or fly) for most home games. Already have tickets for the season opener in Miami. I’ll drive down to Atlanta and over to Charlotte for the games. I’m married to a die hard Saints fan who grew up in party town, so I’ll be there as well. Like most of y’all win or lose I’m a Buc fan for life. I connected as a boy watching them on a black and white tv kick 3 field goals in a playoff game back in the day

  10. Smoky mountain bucs fan Says:

Yeah I know the Rams kicked the 3 field goals, thought I’d better clarify my words before the rest of y’all wake up this morning

  11. Phil Says:

The Browns just released Joe Haden. I hope the Bucs are calling him.

  12. NJBucsFan Says:

That was great. I hope the still work on the connection when I move back down there….hopeful very soon.

Agree! That was pretty amusing watching them. And I think they were serious!
Maybe they thought the Japanese made them karate like and quicker. I must say that for 300 lb guys they are pretty dang quick.

What’s funny is that the ice cream moniker still hold true. I mean EVERYBODY loves ice cream. Except for me I like milkshakes, chocolate milkshakes to be exact. Speaking of chocolate milkshakes did you guys see breezy boo last night? Boi what?!?

Joe where’s the article on breezy -the sniper – boo? The best athlete in the Winston household? I’ll tell you what, if he don’t want to give her half his ish, I’ll glad give her half, shiii I’ll give her all of it. If you know what I mean.

Hey jaboo, in the immortal words of djt – LOCK HER UP!!!

Wow today is our day to agree. I’m a chocolate milk shake man myself. Love to hit the Dairy Inn on MLK for a smooth shake.

Also agree with #3’s choice in ladies. It’s the NFL they all have hotties but she was special. Doesn’t take any crap from #3 and can dish it as well as he can.

My wife and I enjoy that kind of relationship. Of course we’re not nearly as attractive or athletic but we do love to compete with each other.

First spinning class we ever took…in our early 60’s at the time. 15 minutes in I was totally gone…sucking for air and the instructor starts telling us…stand up..sit down…stand again…I was looking next to me HOPING my wife would be too tired to stand…but damn…she stood EVERY freaking time so of course I had to as well. Turns out after class she was hoping I wouldn’t stand so she could stop standing…LMAO…both of us had trouble walking the next three days. We have a competitive relationship. I totally related to #3’s lady smoking him in hoops! And #3…if he’s going to do anything he’s eaten up with competitive spirit!!! But so was she. He has met his match.

That’s awesome. I too make my wife wobble for days. HELLO! lol

  17. stpetebucsfan Says:

You’re one up on me now DB55.

How about a rimshot for that line!

  18. Rod Munch Says:

Hey guys I too like milkshakes, but only vanilla – and I think people that put whip cream and cherries on top of milkshakes should be handed over to ISIS for head removal because that just ruins everything.

Yeah that might seem slightly extreme, but I love milkshakes and I take them seriously.

  19. webster Says:

    @ db55

Yes jaboo’s lady is hot fire!!! I love that they met in high school which means she is not a gold digger. Fyi….banana milk shakes from checkers. Step your game up!!

  20. DB55 Says:

Webster lol you realize we’re using euphemisms right? But hey if bananas are your thing then more power to you. #LoveIsLove

Lmao just messing with you bro.

  21. grafikdetail Says:

i agree!! haven’t had this much love for Bucs player since the glory days
