Jason Licht Talks Baseball & Jameis

May 9th, 2017

Remember last month with America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, was talking about playing professional baseball?

Well, today, general manager Jason Licht responded.

Licht joined the ProFootballTalk.com guru Mike Florio on NBC Sports Radio this morning. Of course, Joe was huddled around the radio feed listening at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters, as Ira Kaufman inhaled bacon flown in from a farm just east of Sea World.

Florio asked Licht how he reacts to hearing Jameis saying he might make a living playing baseball one day.

“I don’t think anything of it,” Licht said. “I know he loves football. We don’t have to answer that question or check that box anymore. Football is his love. He wants to be a quarterback. He wants to win Super Bowls as a quarterback. That’s his main goal. Whatever he likes to do, whatever other sports he likes, baseball being one, is fine with us. It’s not like he’s out there throwing from the mound right now, or training with a Major League Baseball team. So he’s focused on football.”

That’s the right attitude and answer by Licht. Jameis leads the Buccaneers in win-now attitude. Unless that changes, the baseball talk is just talk.

However, that doesn’t mean Jameis doesn’t change his mind one day after winning a couple of Super Bowls with the Bucs and banking well over $100 million.

At that point, well, Jameis can do whatever the hell he wants, as far as Joe is concerned.
