Prime Targets Meet The Media

March 11th, 2017

Your newest Buccaneers, DT Chris Baker and DeSean Jackson, met the media today.

Joe will have loads on the Bucs’ three — yes, three — new Buccaneers through today and tomorrow. All of them spent a load of time talking to media at One Buc Palace today along with Dirk Koetter and Jason Licht.

Not seen above in the photo of defensive tackle Chris Baker and speedster wide receiver DeSean Jackson is new safety J.J. Wilcox, who was signed this morning.

On Baker and Jackson, Licht made it very clear that they were the Bucs’ prime targets in free agency.

Baker made it very clear that he will be playing nose tackle and is so, so happy to be in a 4-3 defense now after being a 3-4 guy in Washington.

Baker said he believes his sack totals will rise because 4-3 nose tackles usually have more sacks than interior guys in a 3-4. Plus, Baker can’t stop smiling at the thought of man-on-man blocking with Gerald McCoy absorbing double teams.

As for Jackson, man, he was humble but talking big and about how he wanted to play with a big-time quarterback, and he considers America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, to be on of those guys,

Interesting, both ex-Redskins talked about how closely they followed the Bucs last year through the playoff chase since the Bucs were leading the Wild Card pack for a good while. Both liked the fight in the team.

Again, stick with Joe for so much more through today and tomorrow.

    @Joe
How much cap space is left now? I’m estimating around 40.

  2. Boise Buc Says:

I simply cannot wait for the season to start!

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Wonder how much Jackson paid Humphries for number eleven

  4. StPeteBucsfan Says:

These three were solid additions without going crazy…as in 15 million for Campbell. The team is definitely improved and we haven’t even had the draft yet. I’m hoping Dalvin or McCaffery and would love to also add Samuels but after that 4.3 at the combine he’s probably going to be long gone before we can use our 2nd round pick.

  5. Waterboy Says:

I’m not really all that excited about most of the free agent moves. DJax is a huge upgrade as long as he stays healthy but other than him they really haven’t done anything. Wilcox was a backup that Dallas had no interest in resigning even after the departure of their starting SS left. Baker should be a slight upgrade over Spence.

Dalvin come draft night about to be the icing for a already sweet cake😀.

  7. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Disagree water this guy has way more in his skillset than spence will ever have.

  8. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Wilcox or what cowboy loving homeboy called him nottyhead says he is an intimidator. Look at him on the tube I can see what he means. Pleased with the signing. No on feared us on the back last season. Tandy bring done wood but other than that meh.

  9. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Told y’all I wanted to see some dreads and gold teeth. Guess Licht heard me.

  10. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Them dallaa’s gone be hanging out the back come draft night.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Love the signings so far, they give us a lot of flexibility in the draft. Still hoping we can add 1-2 experienced OLinemen though in FA. Protecting Jameis is Job One.

  12. tnew Says:

Baker is a huge upgrade on Spence. And he looks to be still developing.

  13. tmaxcon Says:

signings have been great. lots of work to do in free agency and the draft. RT, Center, 2 more receivers, CB and RB of course

  14. Bucballbaby84 Says:

Do not draft a tight end with the first round pick is all I say. We should be getting ahold of Jared cook and bringing that dude to Tampa. We got the cash. I hate to say it but the first pick should be used to get Dalvin cook and if not Dalvin cook than Alvin Kamara. I hate to say it cause running backs are dime a dozen and you can always find a 3 down back even in the 3rd or 4th round sometimes but these cats are elite. Both have a running style like leveon bell.

  15. Louis Says:

Gotta love Humph…negotiates charity for his
number 11…also makes a friend in do so…class act all the way…

  16. Dave Says:

Waterboy, Baker more than just a slight upgrade over Spence.
Really need to do your homework before posting your comments.
    Here’s the facts:
Since 2015, Baker is one of six NFL defenders to post 100+ tackles, 9+ sacks, and 5+ forced fumbles, joining Oakland’s Khalil Mack, Denver’s Von Miller, Cincinnati’s Carlos Dunlap, San Diego’s Melvin Ingram and Philadelphia’s Brandon Graham.

  17. hamilton Says:

    all good moves.

  18. FireJoe Says:

I’m pretty sure Jared Cok resigned with GB and youre drunk if you think we should waste our 1st rd pick on a RB that isn’t Mcaffrey is a way better and faster talent then the 2 aforementioned above. like Shannon Sharpe said if this kid was black he would be a top 10 pick. I’m sick of these trash ass noles fan trying to stick us with all of their bust players. I had enough at Aguyo’s trash ass now you want us to draft fumble machine Cook! smh

  19. Bucballbaby84 Says:

How’s that pretty sure working for you now @FireJoe. Last I seen cook had no job in Green Bay cause martellus Bennett got signed and lance kendricks as well. Yeah so since your first 8 words make the rest of your words not worth existing time on.

  20. FLBoyInDallas Says:

    Good signings.

Joe, with all that dough rolling through JBF world headquarters you should invest in a new camera. That photo is horrible. Looks like you snapped it on a 2005 flip phone or something.
