AP & Bucs Not “A Match”

March 30th, 2017

Not sold.

Is Adrian Peterson a match for the Bucs? One BSPNer isn’t convinced.

Though when you watch the video below, it strongly suggests Tim Hasselbeck didn’t pay close attention to the Bucs last season, the former NFL quarterback decides to take a closer look at what Peterson working out with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, could mean.

“Between Charles Sims, Peyton Barber and Jacquizz Rodgers, they actually have some pretty legitimate running backs there in Tampa to hold them over” until Doug Martin returns from his PED suspension, Hasselbeck said.

Well if that was the case, where were these same running backs last December when the Bucs needed a key couple of late first downs to help secure a win and a playoff berth?

How come every sober draft analyst notes the Bucs need a running back, if this same troika of backs is so reliable?

Joe is willing to lay cash right now neither Muscle Hamster nor Peterson is on the Bucs roster in 2018, and both are dubious for 2017.

So if the Bucs aren’t going to select a running back in such a deep running back draft, when would they?

Hasselbeck doesn’t rule out the Bucs signing Peterson, but he’s inclined to believe the Bucs and Peterson are not a good “match.”

I thought the Hassellbeck brothers never liked Tampa anyway..fook him! lol

  2. Andy Says:

This guys has no idea what he’s talking about.

Doug is only out 3 games, not 4. All of dougs salary is voided, not some of it.

    Do some research.

  3. ndog Says:

1st off he starts by saying Doug Martin will be suspended for the first 4 games which is wrong it is 3. Then he says our other 3 RB’s played well while Doug was out. Quizz played well, Barber played ok, Simms was horrible. So the vast majority of what he said was inaccurate so like always a EPSN talking head has no idea what he/she is talking about when it comes to our Bucs. So nothing to see here.

  4. ZZBucs!!! Says:

Hassellbeck is 100% irrelevat….as always….who cares what this guy has to say……Quizz played really well, Barber was just ok, and simms played really low…….So , draft Mc Caffrey, bring AD for 1 year……..and let Martin go….

  5. flmike Says:

Love when NFL never beens are somehow instant experts when no team will sign them but ESPN or another network is duped into paying them.

  6. LifeOfABucFan Says:

I rather hear what Maurice Jones-Drew has to say about the fit..he knows Koetter!!!

  7. Humptydumptydoo Says:

It really is a moot point what Hasselbeck thinks or us either for that matter. I truly think that JL and DK have a plan and know exactly what they have in our other running backs. They will determine what the greater needs are and already have a plan. we just have sit on the wall and watch to see what it is. As in my case, I have to be careful not to fall off of it!

  8. Frankie Robertson Says:

Just checking in to see how the big dog is doing…. Haven’t seen or heard an update on his condition

    Joe

When was the last time Tim Hasselbeck was at 1BUC? Never is my guess….no credibility..just a talking head.

  10. Bucz since '96 Says:

Jamaal Charles would be a better pick up.

  11. gotbbucs Says:

Koetter has said he wants a bell cow back that can tote the rock for the entire season so the o-line gets used to that RBs tendencies. That pretty much eliminates injury prone old running backs. Peyton Barber is the closest thing on the roster to what sounds like Koetter’s ideal fit. So…what that tells me is they will look to the passing game for their big plays and use running back(s) that will move the chains with similar skill sets.

Enter Samaje Perrine(or any one of the hard nosed RB’s that will be available after the 2nd round) and Peyton Barber as your early down runners and Charles Simms and Jacquizz Rogers as passing down backs.

  12. Pepsi Says:

So Barber, Sims, and Rodgers is a legitmate RB stable? wow… then Martin returns after 4 week and we’ll be golden? Wow that was a depressing take.

  13. bucs_365 Says:

We’re not in the mode of one-year rentals yet.

  14. Bucballbaby84 Says:

He’s a bum. Last I remember he didn’t have much of a career in football. Trust his words with a grain of salt.

  15. Bucballbaby84 Says:

    Oh sorry. The NFL

  16. Joe Says:

When was the last time Tim Hasselbeck was at 1BUC?

    Never seen him.

  17. Bucballbaby84 Says:

Peterson would fit nicely in our system. He would help set up play action pass for Winston beautifully. Dude still has juice I’m sure of it.

  18. Bucballbaby84 Says:

Maurice jones drew says he does fit. I will take his advice on a running back fit millenniums before that bum.

  19. BurgDweller Says:

Tim Hasselbeck probably didn’t watch one Bucs game last year in its entirety or possibly even years. I’m pretty neutral on if we get Peterson or not but the position does need to be addressed. Anything coming from an ESPN analyst about the Bucs is pretty much hot garbage.

  20. Bucdon Says:

Dude is an idiot, and doesn’t do his homework!!! Doug is suspended for the 1st three games no 4. Why listen to people that only talk to be heard!!!

  21. DBS Says:

So back to the what day of the week is it? Wait it was the garbage receiving corp. No. It was the oline that could not open holes or block. No it was the bad corp of running backs. No it was Jameis who was the problem. Do you really see how stupid this all sounds. The ENTIRE offense fell apart AGAIN!! PERIOD! They won and lost with the players they had. AND they would not be 9-7 if Riverboat Ron didn’t want to protect his players and get the season over.

It does not matter who thinks what. Only the powers to be matter.

  22. BucTrooper Says:

Charles Sims proved he’s not an every-down back.

If you say “Peyton Barber” to a non-Bucs fan, they’ll say how awesome his INT was versus the Eagles.

    And Rodgers is just Rodgers.

I’ll be MONEY Hasselbeck looked at the roster 15 minutes before going on the air.

  23. unbelievable Says:

I’m shocked someone at BSPN didn’t know what they were talking about when it comes to the Bucs. Just shocked.

Actually NONE of Doug’s salary is voided. If he is here, he gets it, unless they do a new deal. Only the guarantees are voided, so they can cut him any off season they want.

    Do some research.

  25. Billy Says:

Only at ESPN does a hack former “QB” get airtime. Maybe he should be a back up analyst since he was a career back up QB

  26. BucItSRQ Says:

Peterson is still a threat that has to be focused on and can not be forgotten! You may not have to stack the box but you can’t always play 2 deep and focus just on the passing game either. Even as just a decoy Adrian holds some decent value for what the Bucs are doing. I’d take him at a low offer 2 years kind of deal and still draft a RB in the high rounds that can grow with Winston and Evan and let Peterson be a bridge player. Same feelings as Desean Jackson signing, I hope we draft someone who can take over for him as well in the coming years. Built a team for continual success. One more side note, who else would you rather have your new rookie RB (or even the stable we have now) learning from and helping mentor more than AP. Oh and to make the room I’d slide Sims over to compete with Humphrey in the slot. Sims has hands of gold and can make plays in space but his pure run game is suspect.

  27. Fsuking Says:

There is a huge difference between players that coaches “like” and legends! Everyone at one Bucs place seems to love Adam Humphries and nobody will ever confuse him for a legend. I’m sure you could call up Bo Jackson and get a few good carries out of him. AP is only 31 IDK why nobody wants him? He will go for 1,500 this year

  28. Lamarcus Says:

    Joe

Martin must be legitimate. Teams just don’t let good players go right? The bucs hasnt made a decision and that’s a wise move. Martin is still our stating rb today which is wierd if he is camp meat. What if martin comes back to camp as he did 2 years ago?

  29. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Bonzai are you for real? You do know that the Bucs are not about to pay him his contract money correct? They got an out as soon as Dougie decided to become a drug addict and there is no way in hell he will be getting that contract money in 2017. How about using some common sense for once.

  30. Tbbucs3 Says:

“Anything coming from an ESPN analyst about the Bucs is pretty much hot garbage”

That even goes for Jenna Laine.

  31. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Most NFL teams keep 4 RB’s on the 53 man roster nowadays. So if you bring in AP that gives the Bucs 4 guys (AP, Sims, Barber, Rodgers). If you bring Martin back at a reduced rate, in addition, then there’s 5 guys at the position. Neither scenario leaves room for a drafted RB without cutting one or two players.

This scenario is the reason I see the Bucs waiting until after the draft, and maybe even until training camp, before making any real moves at the position. If AP is a serious option they’re going to not only want a workout at One Buc, they’re gonna want to see him in live action in training camp. Does he still have the juice? They need to answer that question. Not in theory. In person.

    Never say ‘No way’.

And besides, I was simply stating the facts. No opinion. If you don’t like the facts, I feel for you.

  33. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

    He is a tool

  34. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Actually his contract is voided as soon as we cut him. We will not owe him a dime. Who would pay a RB 7mil for 13 games and one who has let the team down numerous times. Common sense says he is gone as long as we draft a RB or sign someone like AP.

The only thing Molly has going for him is this is basically a contract year and that happens to be the time he actually tries out there. Not worth the headache imo and way better options available. We need people with desire and work ethic something Molly has neither of.

If you would get off his jock long enough to breath you might understand this Bonz.

  35. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

Hasselback is a tool btw. Wasn’t directed at you Bonz just a fyi
