“Play Of The Year”

February 4th, 2017

Honored by NFL.

The Bucs may have missed the playoffs but that doesn’t mean the team didn’t take home any hardware this season.

Tonight at the NFL Honors ceremony in Houston, Bucs Pro Bowl wideout Mike Evans was awarded the “Play of the Year” award for his sick one-handed grab of a catch in the Thursday night debacle against the Dixie Chicks.

Evans paid for that catch by getting leveled to the ground. It was impressive. And NFL folks agreed.

    It was a great catch.

  2. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Was there any mention of the Illegal hit that on a defenseless receiver that went uncalled?

The refs screwed us almost as much as our defense did that night.

  3. MadMax Says:

I remember watching it live. I was amazed that he hung on to it more than the catch itself, which makes it even better.

  4. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    Congrats to ME13….a deserved award.

I hope #3 won it for the 2015 season…I do not recall but that 1st down run against Atlanta was the most amazing play I’ve ever seen as a Bucs fan!!!

I am starting to really dislike the NFL. Anyone notice the only person not to actually get an award on stage this year? One clue he plays for the only franchise to win the Super Bowl and did not visit the white house or the only team to win the super bowl and open the next year on the road. I know it’s meaningless but it just keeps happening and it’s really getting old.

  6. Gencoimports Says:

I thought a better play was that Jamies escape and long pass to Evans vs. the Bears.

  7. Pickgrin Says:

Glad ME got rewarded for that amazing effort. Hell of a one handed catch and to hang on and bounce back up after that brutal hit…..

  8. R.O. Says:

Yes.. I was at the game. Remember thinking what a waste. Was at the Raiders game and then Thursday night against the Falcons. Of course we lost both.

  9. The bucfan 88 Says:

Congrats to mike but I see Jameis show some support to his WR I gotta feeling this will be one of the best combos in NFL history # Winstontoevans

  10. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    Genco

I’m with you…that freaking escape by #3 and then the completion was just sick….best play this year but not quite as good as his run last year.

I gotta feeling #3 is going to be in the running for play of the year for the next ten seasons!

  11. scubog Says:

People always forget about that snub ndog.

  12. DallasBuc Says:

I was at that game. Easily the highlight of the entire night, on the field anyway. Huge turnaround year for Evans and he deserves a lot of credit for clearly putting in the effort to clean up the butterfingers and whining. All references to Evans being compared to Michael Clayton can hopefully be removed from my vernacular after a pro bowl season and play of the year!

  13. Harry in Costa Rica Says:

That was a hell of a catch. Nice job ME

  14. BoJim Says:

    And he’s a Buc!!

  15. martinii Says:

I think the Jameis scramble and long pass to Evans was ranked #4 overall. Hey 2 out of the top 5 made it worth watching. What the hell is Jerry Jones doing in the Hall of Fame? I think it should be reserved for great players (John Lynch) and coaches. Owners should be Post-Humas.

  16. martinii Says:

Thought I would fall off the couch laughing When ME while accepting the award said (and I paraphrase) “I’m not sure why I’m here.”

  17. RachelWatson'sthong Says:

Ndog, you are correct. Our team was dissed in so many ways during our Super Bowl winning season. It still irks me to this day.

  18. Erik w/ Clean Athletics 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans' Says:

The pass vs.the Bears was an all-around ‘better play’, in my opinion, but this was a sick catch by Evans.

Basically, we had the top-2 plays of the season.

Just the tip of the iceberg…

  19. Since 76 Says:

He also had the best acceptance speech of the night. Very humble.

  20. Evo Says:

Hey joes! Do you guys ever pass Brooks at wdae? If so I’d love it if you’d ask him for his opinion on that hit on ME. Seems like a spear to me. And since he’s a part of the appeals process would that be a hit that’s looked at during the off season and a possible fine sent the falcons player way

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Great catch, but I think Winston running around for 45 seconds versus the Bears and breaking 14 tackles was the better play. This was a great catch however, amazing.
