Did Jason Licht Call?

February 9th, 2017

Inquiry made?

Well, it seems the Bucs won’t get Antonio Brown.

The All-Pro star wide receiver of the Steelers might have been on the trading block after he pulled his Facebook Live stunt from the Steelers’ postgame locker room, which violated NFL rules and embarrassing his teammates. Additionally, Brown reportedly ran wrong routes purposely in the AFC title game against the Belicheats, for reasons not quite clear.

In the immediately aftermath of the loss to the Belicheats, even the creator, curator and overall guru of Pro Football Talk, the great Mike Florio, smelled the scent of the Steelers shopping Brown.

The rumors were strong enough to motivate various general managers to call the Steelers to test the trade waters, per good guy Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report.

I’m told several teams have asked the Steelers if Brown is available, and according to two teams, the Steelers have said hell no.

Getting Brown would be expensive, requiring, at minimum, a first-round draft pick. But Brown also is the first player since Marvin Harrison to catch at least 100 passes in four straight seasons. Harrison is in the Hall of Fame, and Brown will likely join him one day. …

Brown—who was made available to me as part of a promotion for the Visa payment ring, the first-ever NFC-enabled, tokenized wearable form of payment—made it clear to me he’s not leaving Pittsburgh.

“Steeler for life,” he reiterated. “For life.”

Joe is curious and does not know the answer, and perhaps never will: Did one call fielded by the Steelers originate from the cell phone of one Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht?

Joe hopes the answer is yes — because that would be responsible and Licht is a responsible man.

Alas, it doesn’t seem as if Brown catching passes from America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, will ever happen.

So much for the dream.

It’s ok Joe, let’s see what magic Licht can provide with the cap space this team has( and will have once they cut Verner and Martin).

Throw 16mil in his face for 7yrs with 85mil guaranteed and throw the Steelers this years 1st,4th and next years 3rd round pick and I guarantee you you’ll have him saying,”BUC IT!ITS A BUCS LIFE FOR ME!”lol

  4. BROCKTACULAR Says:

Too much to sacrifice for 1 dude . Those picks could be used much more efficiently. Nice to dream tho!

  5. USFBUC Says:

Not surprised at all and kind of glad.

Falcons gave up a lot more for an unproven Julio jones , he is a proven commodity at the top of the position . Him and Evans would keep coordinators up at night. Rodgers could rush for 1500 yards just off the respect they would command in the pass game

We should have signed Michael Floyd for free.

Just finished reading an article that had some interesting buzz to it! With the Bucs needing to get a RB, this article thought the Bucs should and could throw the $$ to snag Le’Veon Bell from steelers. Thoughts?

    Mike

I completely agree. I was pissed off that we scooped huff after the same issue as Floyd, but not Floyd. That guy is a difference maker. He would have immediately upgraded our WR unit then we wouldn’t have had to stress that position as much. SMH.

I guess they didn’t want to pick up two criminals. ha

Why everyone think a team need these High-Priced, Speedy Receivers to win?

  11. R.O. Says:

Not sure why you would expect the Bucs to trade for AB if he purposely ran wrong routes. Or Why the Steelers would keep him and pay him Julio money to purposely sabotage his own team in the AFC championship. Neither scenario makes sense.

Nope I’m sure it wasn’t. To do so would imply he’s interesting in winning ships and we all know that’s not the case. He11 the fans aren’t even interested in ships. Crey crey. TAMPA >>>>>>>>>>BAAAAAAAAYYYYYY

Sorry, but if Brown keeps up his “antics” in Pit, he’ll be sent packing so fast it’ll mae ur heard spin.

No licht did not make the call. No gm is trying to pay 2 wrs 70 plus million dollars. Are we really that clueless?

  15. Oxycondoms Says:

Exactly just give Winston a couple average wrs no knock on Freddy martino but it won’t take much of an upgrade to see a considerable improvement
