Joe Mixon Almost Undraftable

January 30th, 2017
Has serious issues.

Serious issues.

Joe understands most Bucs fans don’t give a rat’s rear end what a player does or doesn’t do off the field, so long as he produces.

The same fans point to Warren Sapp’s dalliances that cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars. He still helped the Bucs win a Super Bowl those fans will say, ’nuff said.

Once upon a time, NFL teams didn’t worry about those things much. But now living in a Facebook-Live, Twitter-rage society, things are much different.

Joe is of the mind that stud Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon is just about undraftable. We all know about him breaking the face of an innocent young woman. “Inexcusable” doesn’t begin to suggest how godawful that was.

Still, folks deserve a second chance. Problem is, second chances are often earned and Mixon doesn’t seem to get it.

Mixon has been suspended multiple times by Oklahoma, and he also taunted Auburn fans who had the nerve in the Sugar Bowl earlier this month to chant “He hits women” at Mixon.

Can’t handle the truth, huh, son? Maybe you should have thought about that before going Marvin Hagler on a young lady.

For Joe, the last straw with Mixon came when Joe read Mixon lied to multiple people that one reason he came out in the draft is because the NFL draft advisory board informed him he would be selected in the first round. Tom Pelissero of USA Today documented that is just bulls(p)it.

Joe Mixon did not get a first-round grade from the NFL’s college advisory committee, as he said in an interview shortly after declaring for the 2017 draft.

In fact, the University of Oklahoma didn’t submit Mixon, the talented running back who was caught on video punching a woman 2½ years ago, to the committee for evaluation, three people with knowledge of the committee’s list told USA TODAY Sports.

You know, someone who has done something as heinous as blasting a young women in the grill so badly she needed reconstructive surgery should be doing everything to fly right — in order to have the privilege to secure his family generations. Not this clown. He just doesn’t get it. Apparently, Mixon thinks the world owes him an apology, that it is his God-given right to play in the NFL.

Could the Bucs use a running back with Mixon’s skills? You damned right they could.

The last thing Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht needs is another ASJackarse to babysit night and day, with the very real probability this one would do much worse than go to rehab and get popped for PEDs.

Besides, ASJ didn’t do anything close to what Mixon has done. ASJ is just juvenile. Mixon is a bad cat.

Say what you want about Sapp, but he didn’t go around blasting women in the face so badly they needed to get their faces rebuilt.

This Mixon is a bad, bad character. Joe doesn’t think any amount of work behind the scenes to reform his public image will do any good.

Let Mixon go be Cleveland’s problem.

    Agree 100%

  2. flmike Says:

Dude, please don’t invoke the “Marvelous” one (the second greatest middle-weight ever) when speaking about this piece of trash, you should have gone with the more appropriate Mayweather if you want to talk about boxers who hit women, but then again, Mayweather never possessed the power to truly KO anyone, even a woman.

  3. McBuc Says:

Well said Joe. I cannot beleive OK did not send him packing.

  4. Blake_bucsfan Says:

  5. C2 Says:

I could not disagree more. Hitting a woman is just wrong… anytime. BUT she was not innocent nor a lady. She was a drunk trouble maker who taunted, provoked, and physically assaulted him first. According to the reports she even spat on him and called him a racial slur. He should not have hit her but if this was Christian Mccafferty and those were the facts of the case, him being drafted after serving a one year punishment two years ago would not even be an issue.

  6. Bradinator Says:

I’m with ya, Joe. Plenty of talented RBs in this draft. That kid from Toledo was tearing it up in the Senior Bowl. At the end of the day RB is by committee these days and RBs don’t last very long in the NFL. Unless they are absolute beasts, I’m not a fan od drafting them in Round 1 anyway. You can tell Mixon doesn’t get it and he will be an issue for any team crazy enough to take him on.

  7. Twon Says:

I don’t agree with his actions, should have handled it much better however.. She assaulted him first physically right after calling him the “N” word … That was Two years ago everyone deserves a second chance we brought jameis in with plenty baggage.. why shut the door on this kid Who is clearly a 1st round talent JOE … Media just Wants To ruin his career, don’t be the Assist man JOE

  8. Chris Says:

Yeah poor lovely young lady as Joe puts it. She puts her hands on him, obviously confrontationsl. Did not warranted being blasted by Mixon, but in the same aspect, you shouldn’t physically assault someone and not believe there maybe consequences

  9. BucsFanInChina Says:

Yea, the poor innocent woman who hit him in the face and hurled racial slurs at him first. Not condoning his actions, but I recommend y’all watch the video for yourselves

  10. Joeypoppems Says:

Damn Nosbos is gonna have a great day lmao. First a pro Dalvin Cook article and now an anti Joe Mixon article.

As far as my opinion on Mixon goes besides the incident. Joe mentions multiple suspensions. The 2nd suspension was 1 game for ripping up a parking ticket… not exactly the most evil thing ever. As far as taunting the fans goes I guess its based on perspective. Apparently all he did was tell them to chant louder, as did his QB. I didnt take that as him not being able to handle the turth. The 1st round grade situation is the interesting thing. Honestly idk how that whole proccess works so I cant really form an opinion on it. Although him lying is not a good look after everything he has been through. Does kind of change my opinion on him a little bit. Someone might still take a chance on him, just not as early as I originally thought.

  11. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Me neither..

  12. Defense Rules Says:

C2 … I’ve read the same reports as you have, but apparently Joe has much more detailed info than we have (although most players wouldn’t have been suspended for dissing parking attendants more than likely). Still, lots of good RBs in the draft who could help the Bucs (Oklahoma’s other RB, Perrine, being one of them). In any event, I’m sure that Jason Licht and staff will do their due diligence in this case and check out Mixon’s situation from top to bottom. If he drafts him, then hopefully Bucs fans will keep an open mind about the young man.

  13. DallasBuc Says:

Make him a Buc. He made a big mistake and the piddly crap afterwards is crab legs level stuff. Kids make mistakes. Worth the risk of a draft pick.
    Make him a Buc.

  14. @Hands2theFace Says:

Dude might be an unreal RB at the next level. Might be the type of RB we need at the next level. Dude might also find bigger troubles and temptations at the next level. Winston, after the final game in 2015, in a post game interviewed called out his team and asked them to ask themselves “Why?” …why do they play this game. With Mixon’s troubles, bad choices, and now fibbing about his draft grade and why he declared. I think we can all speculate “Why?” he declared. No thanks.

  15. rayjay1122 Says:

Really it does not matter what she did to him, he should not have punched her face. He could have just walked away or even restrained her but no, Mr. Tough guy had to hit a female. Pass on him. He is not a man but just a thug who feels like a big tough guy because he can hurt a woman. He needs a real man to knock a few teeth down his throat but you see, that is actually the problem most likely. He probably did not have a real man or fatherly influence growing up. Please do not draft him Bucs. I do not care about drug issues or most other conduct issues and I do believe in forgiveness and second chances but physical violence from a man towards a woman I pretty much rank up with sexually abusing a child. He is not a man and the Bucs need men.

  16. Old Bill Says:

So slapping someone means you should be decked by a college athlete? You people sicken me, not matter what she said it didn’t deserve a punch. Tampa better not draft the garbage of a human being.

  17. Blake_bucsfan Says:

“I’ve since been able to confirm that with a number of teams — that from a talent evaluation perspective, he has a first-round grade,” Schaffer said. “Some teams have him as the top running back, second running back, third running back on their board.

“Whether when he was asked the question he understood or distinguished between what it means by the committee … I believe that he was 100% telling the truth, because I’ve confirmed it with multiple teams.”

Seems like Joe Mispoke when he said it was a grade from the Committee.

  18. YeahISaidIt Says:

half these posters beat women behind closed doors this guy just has video on it. Draft him. Yall put Trump at President he dont give a damn about women so why should Mixon? Get him in Tampa now

  19. SB Says:

Some of you guys are reading challenged. He didn’t just hit a woman, He was suspended Multiple times, Lied to NFL types, His school didn’t even Submit him for chrissakes! DUDE IS A CANCER

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

I hope that those are not signs of flippancy from posters. Mixon made a choice, a bad one. To brush it aside because the girl was “in his face” or calling him names is ridiculous. “Reconstructive surgery” fellas! There’s no call for it. Period. It’s the better man who walks away.
There are so many other talented backs in this draft to be messing around with a head-case, regardless of his “talent”.

  21. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Mixon will never, ever be a Buccaneer.

And about Sapp…to this day he denies he was guilty of the accusations made against him just before being drafted. He has nothing to lose by confessing, so I believe him.

  22. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Joe Mixon made an abhorrent error in Judgement when he choose to slug that girl in the face. Trust me I’ve experienced the impact of Domestic abuse. I’ve had to defend my Mother and Sisters before if you know what I mean.
And I don’t say this to try and diminish how bad the mistake was, but she had a criminal history before the incident.

She was most likely either Drunk or high, she also instigated the event by putting her hands on a stranger as he was walking away, pushed him after he told her not to touch him, he restrains his first punch, and she ignores all of this body language, and still hits him in the face.

17 years old Joe. People do dumb, terrible, regrettable things when they’re 17 dude, People do Incredibly dumb things when they are in their 20’s. That doesn’t mean they can’t be remorseful for those things and grow from them.

  23. LakeLandBuc Says:

People voted a Serial Groper for President. Who was on tape bragging about grabbing women by their private parts. Joe Mixon should be given a shot a reaching his goal of playing in the NFL. I would draft him in the 4th round, he should still be available there.

  24. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Ok, maybe I was a bit premature to act is if the Joe Mixon situation is cut and dry, but If Jason Licht were to do his due diligence in the investigation, and determines that he is genuinely remorseful, Then I would be 100 percent on board.

Also, Just because there’s no video of it, Warren Sapp was also recently arrested for assaulting 2 prostitutes after refusing to pay them. And I’m sure that wasn’t his first incident either.

  25. Buc1987 Says:

    I don’t know.

After watching the video. I just don’t know.

Had it happened yesterday, that might change my mind.

Of course he shouldn’t have hit her, but like Dallas said people make mistakes. He was young, and in front of his peers. No excuses, but perhaps he didn’t know his own strength after she shoved him.

I don’t know. That blow looked like it would have knocked out Ali. Does someone not know how strong they are?

Hell if any woman in America sees that video it might just make him not only undraftable, but undateable.

  26. Blake_bucsfan Says:

@SB when Joe says multiple suspensions, he means 2. Because Joe was made about a parking ticket, so he ripped it up and threw it on the ground.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

    Anyone sign Ray Rice yet?

    Okay then I don’t think he’s draftable.

  28. Buc1987 Says:

If that was your sister then what say you?

  29. Joeypoppems Says:

Can we stop comparing this situation to Ray Rice’s…. I’m going to keel saying this because it keeps being true. The greater the talent, the greater the tolerance. If Ray Rice was still in his prime when his situation haooened, someone would have taken a chance on him. Why did the Steelers stick with big Ben after his sexual assault charges? Why did the Cowboys take a chance on Greg Hardy? Because they were both still having success. Someone will take a chance on Joe Mixon. Not sobsure I want it to be the Bucs anymore tho.

  30. Blake_bucsfan Says:

87 damn, thats A good one. I’m gonna have to think about that.

I will say this though, I would caution any young woman about putting their hands on strange men in a Violent manner. Yes obviously my ideology is that no man should ever strike a women. That’s how it should be in a civilized society. But not all men are like me. I would add that while every young man should be taught never to hit a girl, Young women to should be taught that its not right for them to hit guys either.

  31. JMicSoundsNice Says:

Whether or not this young man is awarded the privilege to play in the NFL is secondary at this point. He needs help. Could he get it as he transitions from one arena of entitlement to the next? Perhaps. But I find it hard to believe that throwing (more) money and prestige at the situation will benefit the player, the team that signs him, or the league in general. It’s true that kids do dumb things, and, I can’t lie, I think he’s the kind of players the Bucs need; however, as a father myself, I’m sure his parents, family, and close friends hope and pray he begins to make better decisions.

  32. Joeypoppems Says:

Ignore all those typos. Typing on my phone lol

  33. Buc1987 Says:

Joeypoppems….I think Ray would still be a Raven.

  34. tnew Says:

Ok.. the parking ticket incident.. He threw the ticket in the face of the attendant, that is in every report. There is controversy on whether he made contact or not or if it was just the paper from the torn paper. This is a big distinction from a guy who has already one very serious issue.

At 17, young men don’t hit women. Period. That is more than a mistake. That is the revelation of a serious character flaw. Anyone on this board that doesn’t see that is too blinded by their Buccaneer fandom. I think someone as elusive as Joe Mixon is had the ability to evade her punches.

Being said, Licht has a job to do due diligence on this kid. The recent statements don’t help but he could’ve gotten bad information regarding his draft status. I will give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Beating on him for what for all the world looks like a misunderstood question is not needed. Licht needs to lean on GMC to learn as much truth as he can regarding the kid. From that there needs to be a true assessment of how much his obvious talents, 1800 yds from scrimmage while splitting time with Perine, can not be ignored, versus the backlash of making this choice. Whoever picks this kid, will get a firestorm along with it. Unfortunately, for this franchise, Winston already is a poster boy for violence against women, (totally unjustly in my opinion and I wish he wouldn’t have settled). Adding Joe Mixon may be just too many lightning rods.

  35. Joeypoppems Says:

87 he could be. He could be more productive than guys like Justin Forset lol

  36. Joeypoppems Says:

“I think someone as elusive as Joe Mixon is had the ability to evade her punches”

Are we evaluating that tape too now? Lol

  37. Architek Says:

Why is that girl so “innocent”???

Nixon was wrong but calling people racial slurs and inciting violence is hardly innocent. They both were wrong and both paid a dear price for the incident.

  38. USFBUC Says:

So sick of the people trying to stand in their high ground while manipulating facts. If we are going to try and discredit somebody let’s provide real facts to backup claims.

Multiple suspensions = ripped up parking ticket
Lied about his draft grade = misunderstanding of the process based on information his agent gave him.

    Truths
He hit a girl, he torn up a parking ticket.
The girl he hit had a previous drug possession charge
Neither he nor the girl called the police after the incident
They were at the local drunk college spot
    She hit him first
He was walking away from the situation before he was hit
If it was a guy he hit the local DA said they would have never pursued charges

  39. America's Commenter Says:

Joe Mixon is Lawrence Phillips version 2.0 He’ll either be in prison or dead (or die in prison) before the second contracts kick in for this draft class.

  40. rayjay1122 Says:

    @ YeahIsaidit

So now comparing President Trump allegedly groping women is in the same category as busting up a woman’s face? I guess you are in the 50% that beat women behind closed doors. Not going to get into a political debate any further than to point out the many individuals who are anti-Trump claiming he will destroy America while in the meantime they are rioting and literally destroying America. But that would be the intellectual level of those individuals. I doubt Trump supporters would be rioting if Clinton had of won. That is the difference.

    @LakelandBuc

The same comments pretty much apply to you as above but at least your post was slightly less pointed. Bottom line is that groping a woman and busting a woman’s face is like comparing speeding to a hit and run with fatalities. Please come up with something better than that.

It is sad that there is a sect of citizens that feel like physical violence especially toward woman is acceptable, who do not recognize authority and who apparently will excuse any repulsive criminal actions as permissible because they do not like the President. Get over it. What is done is done. Guess what, this is still a free country, so if you do not like Trump, then go get a visa and move to another country until you get your favorite person elected and can come crawling back.

As far as the woman goes, she was wrong as well but where is Mixon going for reconstructive surgery on his face? Oh that is right, he does not need it since his face did not get busted up.

As this applies to the Bucs, there are plenty of extremely talented players available without having to recruit from Compton. Nuff said!!!

  41. Gt40bear Says:

This POS is Lawrence Phillips 2.0 waiting to happen! I don’t care if the Bucs have to sign beer vendors out of the stands to play RB, STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE!

  42. Steve from Oregon Says:

What people dont know is that he started to confrontation outside. They came inside, where he was continiung to verbally assault her friend, she stepped in and he laid her out. Theres a reason he settled this case so quickly.

  43. Gack Says:

I would take him if that was the only thing he did. It looked like that girl was far from innocent.

  44. Pickgrin Says:

I watched the video and the “young lady” was far from “innocent”. In fact – she was the aggressor. Had this been another guy calling young Mixon the N word and getting in his face and hitting him like she did – the response would largely be – “hey, that’s what you get – Mixon was just defending himself”.

The problem is that of proper response. Mixon had every right to push her away as she came at him – but instead channeled his inner Mike Tyson which was obviously a bad decision.

I have no idea whether Mixon is a bad person or not – but I think its unfair to assume that he is based on this one bad decision that a 17 year old made in a split second out of anger while being verbally and physically attacked. The parking ticket incident means nothing.

I’m sure the Bucs will do their due diligence on this guy if they are considering drafting him.

The point will come for some team where the potential reward outweighs the risk and Mixon will likely be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round.

  45. 813bucboi Says:

well, its hard to “turn the other cheek” if you were spit on and called a racial slur…..they both got what they deserved and I bet either incident will happen again…

the lying is what I have an issue with…..why lie about a draft grade?….just tell the truth…your leaving because you’ve had enough of UO and their BS…..he deserves a 2nd chance but their are other rbs that I would grab before him….GO BUCS!!!!

  46. Bucsfanman Says:

So USF, you’re OK with it? Perhaps you should introduce him to your sister then!
The better man walks away, it’s that simple.
And talk about the pot calling the kettle black! What difference does it make that she had a drug possession charge?! College kids with drugs?! Never heard that before!
Real men don’t hit girls! Read again.

  47. FIRETHECANNONS Says:

Lets not forget what Ray Lewis and Donte Stallworth did in their careers..

  48. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

Damn JOE, pretty harsh. Are you trying to start a witch hunt… It’s pretty sad that so many on here consider him the scourge of the earth. This KID made a mistake of epic proportions. YES he did!
But damn perspective people…. He’s this, he’s that. Knock out his teeth, do this do that to him. Really people. No one has mentioned getting the young man some help… Nope, send him back to where he came from
Perspective people… Our NEWLY elected president will just “grab her by…”
BOTH horrible acts… So where’s all that protesting at? SO YEA IF HE’S AVAILABLE, DRAFT HIM

  49. MarineBuc Says:

Joe Mixon “undraftable”? That is laughable.

The kid was on campus 2 days, he is from California so I am sure there is a tiny bit of adjustment that needs to be made, she was drunk off her arse, Mixon does not drink, and she was obviously the one aggressor in the situation. She pushed him, slapped him, and hurled racial slurs at him. It all happened in a split second inside the deli. This was after she told Mixon and friends outside that they had “never met a b!tch like me”.

“Multiple time”? I guess technically 2 is “multiple”.

“Lied about a 1st round grade”? How does Joe know what information was fed to Mixon via his handlers? If I were a betting man, I would bet on the handlers being the liars in this situation. Mixon has been recieving bad guidance from his lawyers and handlers since this situation happened.

Should Mixon have walked away? Absolutely…but we all have the advantage of 20/20 hindsight and years of experience.

Mixon is going to be superstar in the NFL…doubt it. Do yourself a favor and google Tyreek Hill and all the crap surrounding him during his college career.

For the love of all that is holy, please stop referring to the Mixon situation as domestic violence…it was NOT domestic violence. Domestic violence is “violent or aggressive behavior within the home, typically involving the violent abuse of a spouse or partner.”

Bottom line…kids make mistakes in college. I have in Jason Licht and his ability to actually get the “FACTS” about the Mixon situation and Mixon’s ability to flourish in the NFL.

  50. Joeypoppems Says:

And just like I asked to stop making Ray Rice comparisons, can we stop with this whole sister thing? Of course people would react differently if they knew or was realted to Ms Molitor (aka the girl that got hit) Imagining it like that would immediately make us biased.

  51. Bucfaithful Says:

I disagree 100 percent joe. This kid is a tyrek hill type of explosive playmaker at a position of need for us where we can get great value. FIRETHECANNONS has a great point, look what ray Lewis and stallworth did in their careers. If he checks out with the bucs front office and we could give him a similar support group to what Dallas gave dez Bryant when they drafted him I don’t see the problem. we have great leaders on offense like Jameis and mike Evans who could help lead the young man as well.

  52. LakeLandBuc Says:

So it’s ok for a 60 year old Serial Groper to brag about molesting women? SMH

  53. rayjay1122 Says:

Wow, some of the posts just amaze me. So, let me get this straight so that I understand. If I am at a club and a woman calls me a racial slur and even tries to push me or hit me, then I have a right to break her face? Sorry, I am above that. A real man would simply either walk away or defend himself by restraining her until security arrives to escort her out. He showed he is not mentally or physically tough. We do not need him. I would take Doug Martin back over this garbage.

  54. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

HOW is that because you want a certain player, you condone his personal life… Are fu¢kin serious. None of us know what any of them do in their personal life’s. Odds are there’s some sick sh!t going on behind closed doors… That will one day shock and offend you., You? You! Who are you to judge? There are MONSTERS in this world… Watch your own. Quit trying say because Mixon is wanted, now we’re bad people of low morals… SCREW YOU ALL with that thinking.

  55. Bucsfanman Says:

Bottom line: Real men don’t hit women!
The truth is that, even though he’s “young” and made a “mistake”, there are other RBs who are young and DID NOT. I’ll go with “did not” for my selection. No, it’s not so egregious that he doesn’t deserve a second chance but, he should get some counseling and quick.
    Real men don’t hit women!

  56. webster Says:

I love how posters are saying you should “never” hit a lady. News flash, if you make a female mma type chick mad and she attacks you, you abosolutely have the right to try and beat her a$$. People are shooting 16 year old boys and claiming self defense and there is no outrage from the masses or courts. Our president may very well comitted sexual asualt and many turned a blind eye and voted for him. Yet these same people want to deny this young man from playing football. I call that hyprocrasy. I was taught a lady is no longer a lady once she starts acting like a man. 87, i would tell my sister, you do not put your hands on anyone unless you are prepared to deal with the consequnces. No one is innocent if you are violent first regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion etc.

  57. Mort Says:

Watch the tape before you comment. This is way worse than ray rice. He slugs her and then walks off and doesn’t feel any immediate remorse for losing his mind. This anger that is uncontrollable off the field is not going away any time soon. He can say whatever nice things he wants (and he has) but it doesn’t fix his problems. The dude is bonkers and is absolutely not worthy of any draft selection, much less a first round grade.

If you’re ok to draft him in the fourth, that means you literally don’t care what he did. So, why not the first? Forget this loser. Imagine if that was your sister or daughter. Unacceptable in any sense. I hope Darcy glazer puts the kibosh on any notion of drafting this turd.

  58. DallasBuc Says:

This is not a court of law right here. This is just the court of opinion.
He has paid his price in the eyes of the law and been made an example of already in the court of opinion paying a much higher price based on the incident being caught on video tape. Should he not be allowed to live his life and be given the opportunity to play football and make good decisions now? Or should he be punished by blackball from the league? I sure am glad my mistakes when I was young were not caught on video and publicized to all of my future prospective employers preventing me the opportunity I have had to make a great living for me and my family.
Some real above reproach holier than thou judgmental maggots in this here court of opinion.
    Make Mixon a Buc

  59. Buc1987 Says:

    Joeypoppems….she’s somebody’s sister. Somebody’s daughter.

    Period.

  60. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Mort

“Imagine if that was your sister or daughter”

Why would I do that? I would rather not be biased.

  61. Joeypoppems Says:

I get that 87. But if you look at it through that perspective you will become biased. I dont want to be biased when forming opinions.

  62. DB55 Says:

Sapp, but he didn’t go around blasting women in the face
    ———–
    That’s not what she said.

  63. Buc1987 Says:

Watch the video. Then come in here and say. People make mistakes, give him a second chance.

    Watch the video.

Yep sure he paid the price…

“Mixon was charged with a misdemeanor over the incident but the charge was dropped when he agreed to a plea deal for one year of probation with cognitive-behavior counseling and 100 hours of community service.”

  64. Buccfan37 Says:

After further thought I don’t think the Bucs are interested in Mixon. Throw him in the back of the dumpster and hit compact.

  65. Buc1987 Says:

I guess we’ll see how it plays out. If he gets drafted and what he does afterwards. I don’t think there’s a pattern here though.

What if he accidentally killed the chick? I mean he could have, but I guess none of that matters….look at him run!

Maybe he gets it now. Saw his apology, but did that come after the incident ot after it surfaced. I think it came after it surfaced. If so where was the apology immediately following the incident?

  66. DallasBuc Says:

87- he went through the legal process, same as Winston did and there was arguably far more favoritism and shenanigans in legal case with Winston.
Mixon went through the legal process and paid the higher price in court of opinion due to the advent of the incident being caught in video and made public. What more punishment would you like exacted on him above price he has already paid? He should never be allowed to play football again? Maybe you can call your congressman and get that crap codified into law!

    Make Mixon a Buc

  67. Buc1987 Says:

Did he grab the girl right after it to apologize? Or did he high tail it out of the restaurant? Cause that kinda matters to me.

  68. Joeypoppems Says:

I have watched the video. I have watched his 30 minute press conference before the sugar bowl. I formed my opinion off of that. I was aware of everything in this article except for the new news about the lying about the draft grade.

Im just saying keep an open mind when forming opinions. Thats why the whole “Imagine if he hit your sister” argument is pointless. Of course you would have a different opinion.

That would be like me saying “put yourself in Mixons shoes. Wouldnt you want a 2nd chance?” Of course you would have a different opinion. Just look at it through nuetral eyes and mind and form an opinion.

If anyone hasnt watched his press conference I reccomend it. About 25 minutes long and he answers all but q question (someone asked his mothers opinion of him after she had seen the video which to me is out of line).

  69. Buc1987 Says:

So basically he showed remorse 2 years later???

  70. Buc1987 Says:

I mean Winston gave the girl a ride home on his scooter sooooo.

    Not this guy.

  71. Bucsfanman Says:

@Dallas- You are 100% correct on all counts. Should he be black-balled? Of course not. I would ask you given 2 players of similar skills would YOU take the guy with the videotaped knock-out of a woman, or the guy without? We ALL make mistakes, sure. I wouldn’t want that stuff following me around either but we act as though football is a right, like it’s owed because he played in college. Like any other job application, he will be scrutinized. And too bad if nobody wants him. It’s not a right.
Mixon will be just fine if he chooses. If he ends up a Buc, so be it, just as long as he gets his life right.

  72. VaBuc Says:

Tell her keep her hands to herself

  73. MarineBuc Says:

    Buc1987,

His attorneys would not let Mixon make a public apologoy due to an on going civil trial.

Oh, and he didn’t run…he walked out of the deli.

For the record, the DA specifically said the ONLY reason Mixon was charged in this case is because a woman was involved…if it were two men…nohting would have happend.

I am in, no way, shape or form condoning what Mixon did…I just think he is going too harshly judged. The entiretly of the situation illuminates many facts.

  74. Buc1987 Says:

I wanted Incognito too. All for it.

Do I have to keep asking the question…

Does it matter to any of you that the apology took so long?

Or you don’t have answer for that and there’s no time limit as long as he apologized?

  75. Bucsfanman Says:

    Real men don’t hit women!

  76. tnew Says:

I’m hoping that most of you are trolling. Being drafted is a huge job interview. For every job, you have to weigh the assets of a candidate and the drawbacks and assess a value. Period. All of the past pros and cons filter into that decision. Period. The fact that he struck a women is a mark against his character. The fact that some are trying to argue that it doesn’t matter as she was attacking him or because he was 17.. well I’m glad you aren’t in charge of setting guidelines for society. What he did was wrong and it must be taken into account, as was the parking ticket incident.

If you want to argue on the value of his draft stock based on his talent versus his past I have no problem.

If you want to argue that there is nothing wrong with what he did because “she had it coming” I’m not going to participate.

Now.. all of you that are killing on Mixon and saying he should not be on the Bucs team you MUST be consistent. Don’t be yelling for Adrian Peterson. He missed an entire year for beating one of his kids so badly that it required medical attention.

I’m not saying no to either. But I’m saying that especially with Mixon, just because he is UBER talented this doesn’t mean that he will be a great player to have on the team. Aaron Hernandez proved that I can’t judge Joe Mixon on who he is now. From afar, it doesn’t look good. But I haven’t sat down and spoken with him. Thats Jason Licht and imo GMC’s jobs. Just because Tyreek Hill had one good year doesn’t mean that Joe Mixon’s troubles are in his past. Its like saying he’s the next Lawrence Phillips. Thats not necessarily the case either.

  77. big serious Says:

i wish a lot of people here casting stones could have their played back on a big screen. Lets see how long they would stay in the room. cast stones at #22 but I bet most have done worst drugs…cast stones at Mixon i bet they have hit a woman. You cant sit back and say what you wont do until you are in that situation. their are not to many white men that can honestly say that they would let a black woman slap him, spit on him and call him negative names that are tied to white men and they will walk away… especially when they were teenagers. If the buccs draft him and he balls out most will forget all of this stuff that was said. Some said the same things about JW now they probably have his jersey. Who has not made a mistake?

  78. big serious Says:

    their lives played back

  79. Buc1987 Says:

    “Buc1987,

His attorneys would not let Mixon make a public apologoy due to an on going civil trial.”

If it were ME or perhaps you. I’d offer a ride to hospital not ‘walk” out of the deli.

  80. Buc1987 Says:

No phone call to check how she’s doing. Nothing.

Okay I’m done debating this as nothing’s going to change my mind.

  81. Blake_bucsfan Says:

@JoeyPoppems He didn’t really lie about anything concerning his draft grade.

“I’ve since been able to confirm that with a number of teams — that from a talent evaluation perspective, he has a first-round grade,” Schaffer said. “Some teams have him as the top running back, second running back, third running back on their board.

“Whether when he was asked the question he understood or distinguished between what it means by the committee … I believe that he was 100% telling the truth, because I’ve confirmed it with multiple teams.”

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2017/01/27/joe-mixon-oklahoma-first-round-grade-advisory-committee/97154524/

  82. tnew Says:

It shouldn’t matter if it was your sister or daughter or not. If you are ok with someone hitting a woman then so be it if it is your sister or daughter.

  83. Bucsfanman Says:

@87- I’d take Incognito over this guy, although some would argue that he too picked on girls!

And to your point, the apology doesn’t matter to me. He shouldn’t have done it to begin with.

  84. Joeypoppems Says:

87 as someone pointed out he was advised not to make a public statement. If you watch his press conference a lot of your question will be answered.

  85. rayjay1122 Says:

The saddest part of this whole thread is that justifying what Mixon did is even being debated. Our society is really degraded.

  86. Buc1987 Says:

I can say for certain he won’t be a Buc though.

No way hell are they going to do it after JW.

No way. I’ll take bets rrrright now.

  87. Guzzie Says:

Joe…if Dalvin Cook didn’t go FSU, he would’ve been convicted for hitting a girl too, it’s a known fact star FSU players do not get convicted especially against women…regardless Mixon was 17, and video doesn’t lie, so what he didn’t get the committees blessing 1st round grade, he is a 1st round talent, crucify the guy, whatever, did you mention he’s going to therapy on his own 2 years after the incident, no because that shows good character, and no one wants to be that, your boy Jameis had to weather these kind of articles during draft season too, plenty of hate out there, thanks for bashing a kid that is earning a 2nd chance, Dalvin got lucky

  88. Blake_bucsfan Says:

87 he’s been going to therapy ever since the incident as well.

  89. Joeypoppems Says:

    @tnew

The debate isnt about whether or not we are ok with it. It is about whether or not he deserves a second chance.

  90. Pickgrin Says:

    ’87 says :
“I mean Winston gave the girl a ride home on his scooter sooooo. Not this guy.”

LOL – sick humor and twisted because you know Winston did not do anything wrong that he was trying to make up for – but still funny…

  91. Guzzie Says:

3 years therapy, 2 on his own volition, no crimes committed, lying about whether he was told he’s a 1st round talent shouldn’t be the last straw, its asinine to be honest with you that that’s the reason Joe doesn’t want this guy to be a Buc, Ray Rice was a grown man, Mixon was a stupid kid, inexcusable both actions at least, but Mixon deserves a 2nd chance

  92. Buc1987 Says:

Let Philly take him. No PR problem there.

No….”I know I just knocked you out, are you okay?”

    No…he walked away like bfd.

    Justify it.

In other news to lighten the mood. I e-mailed Trump to see if he can get Hank Williams jr reinstated on MNF.

  93. USFBUC Says:

@bucsfanman please get off of your high horse before you fall and hurt yourself.

What I said was if one wants to attack the guy that all facts need to be considered. Have you watched the unedited video? Have you read all of the facts surrounding the story? My guess is those answers are no and not even close. None of us will ever have all of the answers but please let’s incorporate just a little more fact.

The kid said he got a first round draft grade based on what his agent told him. This is his position on that issue. If his agent told him he had a first round draft grade then guess what he has a first round draft grade. Beyond that even if he did lie it’s a non-issue because there are plenty of lies told this time of year. Players lie about their height and weight, their drug use, they lie during their interviews, their agents lie, the universities lie, the NFL teams lie, scouts lie, etc. Additionally, we are now seeing that some teams do actually have second round grades on him and I am sure there are teams that grade him talent wise as a first rounder. Right now the only reason he probably doesn’t go in the first round is because of the visibility of the first round draft.

Next, her drug possession charge does matter because it speaks to her character. I went through college and was never once charged with drug possession. If you are willing to look at the situation and have been to college or have any kind of logic one will understand that they were both at the local drunk/post party/high food place. This fact allows us to reasonably believe that one or both of them were under the influence. This is a factor in the interaction that cannot be ignored. Combine this with the fact that they both left after the fact without calling the police gives me absolute certainty that drugs or alcohol were involved. Why else would a young, innocent lady, who has just been assualted by the big mean man take off without calling 911? Normal reasonable people call 911 when stuff like this happens.

Next, why according to reports did the young lady try to block the release of the video? Is it perhaps that she didn’t want the world to see that the bad man actually walked away and only hit her after being hit twice? My guess is yes.

Finally, if you were a regular reader of the comments you would know that I never condoned his actions. Additionally my post said nothing about his actions being justified just that people need to use actual facts if they are going to talk bad about a person.

  94. 813bucboi Says:

@87…your acting as if she only said he was a lousy football player and he went all kimbo slice on her….give me a break…..

@webster says…”News flash, if you make a female mma type chick mad and she attacks you, you absolutely have the right to try and beat her a$$. People are shooting 16 year old boys and claiming self defense and there is no outrage from the masses or courts…..I was taught a lady is no longer a lady once she starts acting like a man. 87, I would tell my sister, you do not put your hands on anyone unless you are prepared to deal with the consequences. No one is innocent if you are violent first regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion etc……I 1,000% AGREE….

@big serious says,” their are not to many white men that can honestly say that they would let a black woman slap him, spit on him and call him negative names that are tied to white men and they will walk away… especially when they were teenagers. “…..I 1,000% AGREE….GO BUCS!!!!

  95. Joeypoppems Says:

    87

We all have things in life we look vack on and wish we handled it diffefently because we were caught up in the heat of the moment. Personally im not gonna knock him for not offering her help. Heat of the moment and he left. We have all been caught up in it before.

  96. LakeLandBuc Says:

If that was a man that stalked and slapped Joe Mixon. We wouldn’t be having this conversation. No charges would have been filed, and there would have been no story. It would have been * he acted in self defense*, he has the right to defend himself.

  97. 813bucboi Says:

    @usfbuc…well said….GO BUCS!!!!

  98. Waterboy Says:

I don’t need all guys on the team to have the moral character of Warrick Dunn I’m just not high on Mixon I personally think he looks like Sims 2.0. I’d still take him in the draft but wouldn’t draft him with a high round pick. I’d take him with a low enough pick that if he does something stupid he can be cut without it having a huge impact on the team and next man up.

  99. Buc1987 Says:

813bucboi..what exactly DID she say to him? I mean heard from your ears.

I think all girls should be taught at a young age not to put there hands on anyone or there might be consequences. Like ya never know.

    LakeLandBuc Says:

“It would have been * he acted in self defense*, he has the right to defend himself.”

Is that how YOU defend yourself against a slapping girl? So essentially you’d do the same?

We can do this all day, but I’m bored with it.

  100. USFBUC Says:

    Thank you 813

  101. Peyton Says:

Mixon probably won’t get drafted and I don’t want him on my Bucs to be upfront and honest. We’re heading in to good of a direction right now for a Mixon to be on our team. But some of you posters must realize that we DO NOT live in the same world that we did 20 years ago. I’m 41, 22 years active duty Army and I’ve watched the youth change dramatically over the years. and not for the better. What you wouldn’t have done because of how you were raised and how society was in your time, isn’t what’s out there now. My mother had me at 14 and raised me and my sister alone and I’ve never hit a woman. My family is heavy in the drug game and always has been and I’ve seen things in my youth that a kid shouldn’t see but I graduated with honors in Pasco County, went to USF for 3 semesters and decided to join the Army, so the no Father excuse or environment excuse is most times just that…an excuse and BTW my sister graduated from FAMU with a BS and her Masters, all from a poor, single parent household…what bothers me about this is that before he punched her once, she had already assaulted him twice…he was sober and should have walked out that door like he started to, but had he not punched her after she shoved him (assault 1) and then slapped him (assault 2), but chose instead to then call the police and press charges on her, nothing would have come of it. hell he might have been arrested himself or worse. we don’t live in a world anymore where anyone can think that they can put their hands on another person and get away with it…it’s just not that way anymore. I have 3 daughters 17, 12 and 9 and I tell them all the time and especially after these type incidents, don’t put your hands on anyone and not be ready for the consequences, and your action does not mean that the other person is going to return the same action…if that was my sister or any one of my daughters that he punched, I would have had to end his life, but as I am heading to prison, both me and my daughter would know that she was wrong as well…oh and her face smashing into that table on her way down didn’t help those injuries either, it was a direct result of his action, so he is to blame, but I believe that table did some major damage as well as his punch…imo

  102. Pickgrin Says:

some good points in your long post @tnew

This all comes down to appropriate response IMO. Mixon did not respond correctly. The woman coming at him as she did in that manner did not represent a threat to his life or severe bodily injury. His knock out punch response was out of anger instead of the appropriate response to match the “threat level” which would have been deflect/ push her away and get out of there.

But this you don’t hit a woman no matter what business is out of balance as well. If a woman is attacking a man and the threat of bodily injury or death is real – then a man has every right to defend himself against it – WITH appropriate and balanced force in response. That is the key legally.

If in this case the female had come at Mixon swinging a pipe or some heavy object that could indeed have inflicted serious harm to him – then his knock out punch would have been fully justified both legally and morally – because at that point he would be legally defending his life.

But the haymaker punch was obviously excessive force used in response to the girl attacking him with slaps.

It was a very bad decision and a moment in time that Mixon has and will continue to pay dearly for.

To say he is “undraftable” though is pretty ridiculous. I imagine there are VERY few GMs who would not take a chance on Mixon if he is still available in the 5th or 6th round.

  103. Ras Says:

What I hate about the whole situation is that he actually started following them making Gay slurs to her friend 1st. You get mad cause someone calls you a racial slur when you started it by making gay slurs 1st. With that said the woman still should not have hit him, in that sense he actually was just defending himself. He probably could have done it a lot less violently but easier said than done when in the situation. I would not touch the kid. With that said his talent is on the level of David Johnson for AZ.

  104. Stpetebucsfan Says:

“if this was Christian Mccafferty”….he would have walked away…in fact he wouldn’t have placed himself in that position to begin with.

So we now have a poster reporting that this confrontation started outside of the club and this was a continuation. That is HUGE if true…I wasn’t there.

Throwing a ticket into a parking lot attendants face is not a serious crime…I get that..but it is a SERIOUS indication that this kid feels entitled.

Imagine people have been telling you that your sheeet doesn’t stink since you’ve been in the 7th or 8th grade and everybody realizes you are a meal ticket…for a college coach who can use him to win games…for an agent..for all his sycophantic friends who tell him how great he is….some can handle it…some can’t. Mixon “seems” like exhibit A in the entitled athlete charge.

And it’s always the same guys who think thugs (not racial here but directed at anybody who punches women…my freaking white father was a THUG!) are actually desirable…the same guys who lusted for Greg Hardy so desperately.

How did that work out? What..he’s going to the UFC or WWE? I hope it’s the latter because if he enters UFC than me and all the other children of wife beating men will love it when someone chokes his cowardly arrse out…that’s too good for Hardy…I’d rather see him get elbowed and punched into oblivion for three straight rounds. I freaking HATE women beaters. I’m up for a second chance if they’ve truly reformed…otherwise…f em.

Bottom line…Mixon put himself in this situation. Bad stuff tends to happen when your out partying that late. And if due diligence reveal that he actually started the confrontation outside with name calling and taunting of this girl’s friends I don’t care if she’s a double murderer out on parole…it’s still Mixon’s responsibility. And at the end of the day that’s what we’re really checking out.

RESPONSIBILITY…Noah accepted his responsibility for his mistake which is NOTHING compared to Mixon..he paid for his own drug test to prove he was clean.

What has Mixon done to be a model citizen?

  105. Bucsfanman Says:

@USF-“High horse”?! OK, sorry, but I only need to know ONE fact: Did he hit her?
USF, I was taught as a CHILD that you don’t hit girls/women. If that makes me “judgemental”, then I’m OK with that. Your post sounded a lot like you were trying to justify his actions. In fact, it still kind of does. I’m not here to judge him on anything other than hitting women. And, it’s my opinion.
I will say it again, real men don’t hit women! You will not change my mind regarding this so don’t bother. I don’t think he should be black-balled for it, I just can’t bring myself to respect a man who hits a woman. Is that clear enough for you? I could care less where he gets drafted!

  106. Blake_bucsfan Says:

  108. Joeypoppems Says:

Idk if entitled is the word I would use for the parking ticket incident. 90% of people would have been pissed off and ripped it up too lol

  109. Buc1987 Says:

Pickgrin….I don’t know if the media or certain fans will care where he’s drafted.

Stpete…I was waiting for you to get here. I needed back up. lol

Peyton…Excellent post. Long as ef, but excellent post. Not boring and repetitive like the defense lawyers above me.

  110. LakeLandBuc Says:

As your Mother use to tell you..KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF.

  111. Buc1987 Says:

All kids today feel entitled. Even the ones without.

  112. Buc1987 Says:

Jameis was innocent Blake and we ain’t going back there….

  113. Joeypoppems Says:

All this talk about Mixon. Never would’ve thought I would be wanting to talk about Dalvin Cook lmao

  114. Bucsfanman Says:

    ^^^^^^^^LOL!

  115. Blake_bucsfan Says:

I know Full well that Jameis was innocent dude. Don’t get me wrong. But understand, there are people to this day who harbor resentment towards Jameis for just being accused.

Obviously Mixon committed a heinous, horrible, abhorrent crime. But as it’s been noted multiple times, were this a male on male scenario, it would be simple self defense.

Many things have been alleged by both sides, among them, that she spit in his face, called him an extremely offense racial slur to his face, and she put her hands on him 3 times before he snapped.

I believe that it’s a result of the modern perception by young women that they can put their hands on men, because it’s wrong for Men to hit them back. It needs to be taught in every household for both sexes not to get violent with anyone without being prepared for the consequences.

  116. Buc4Lyfe79 Says:

Not a woman beater, but have found myself more than once unfortunately accosted by a female putting herself verbally and physically in a mans position. In “today’s” society, women can be in combat next to a man, can supposedly do ANY job that a man can, and that unfortunately includes man type taunting that will get you knocked the !@#$ out. So women now a days can do anything a man can do except take a punch? Woman in video hurls racial slurs and physically assaults said player first, but double standards are STILL in effect?? WTF-Ever.

  117. LakeLandBuc Says:

Joe Mixon was a VICTIM of a Hate Crime by a drug addict racist. But now she is the victim and he is the perpetrator ( in the eyes of many). This is the definition of hate crime…………………A hate crime (also known as a bias-motivated crime) is a prejudice-motivated crime, which occurs when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her membership (or perceived membership) in a certain social group.

Examples of such groups can include and are almost exclusively limited to: sex, ethnicity, disability, language, nationality, physical appearance, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation.[1][2][3] Non-criminal actions that are motivated by these reasons are often called “bias incidents”.

“Hate crime” generally refers to criminal acts which are seen to have been motivated by bias against one or more of the types above, or of their derivatives. Incidents may involve physical assault, damage to property, bullying, harassment, verbal abuse or insults, mate crime or offensive graffiti or letters (hate mail).[4]

  118. grafikdetail Says:

black kid loses his cool and punches a drunk racist white girl attacking him… “you should never hit a girl!!” trump supporters punches a protester “she got what she deserved” typical hypocritical b.s. LOL

  119. Lord Cornelius Says:

I duno yet how I feel about Mixon. I can’t imagine myself ever hitting another woman; especially if you know you are much more physically built than the woman. If it’s a jacked MMA chick then thats different. I only weigh 160 lbs lol

If this was a scrawney 17 year old dude that he broke the jaw of it’d probably be a celebrated youtube video where everyone was basically gloryfing the punch. People would say the dude deserved it; or that it was a great hit; even if the damage / pain were the same for the skinny hypothetical dude as it was this chick.

Some journalists have made this woman out to be a poor victim and that’s BS imo. Even if it was my sister or daughter I’d be like wtf is wrong with you? If you act like that with grown men while you’re out that was going to happen eventually. It’s f*cked up but that’s reality

  120. big serious Says:

I wonder what would have happened if he would have called the cops on her when she was hitting him and spit on him. I think that is assault. would she have got in trouble. Say he slipped and knocked his teeth out on the table when she slapped him. If she was a basketball player would she be considered un draftable to the WNBA?

  121. Guzzie Says:

Mixon has been going to therapy since the incident, court ordered anger management the first year, he choose to continue treatment the last 2 years

  122. Rawlow Says:

Both of them are wrong, regardless if she’s a woman. She struck him multiple times before he hit her. Thats assault. Explain me how she’s innocent? Both of them should be punished. Shouldn’t be a double standard, and Joe it’s so unethical for you to degrade a person involved in a two altercation. She should be publicly apologizing too.

  123. Parker Says:

There’s no room for trash like Mixon in the NFL. That is not the kinda guy that should be sought after. She may have “assaulted” him first, but name calling is in no form the same as causing bodily harm. He’s a risk and and will be another manziel or worse.

  124. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

Marinebuc that must be the poilcy in that state. I got a partner doing 7 years in prison right now cause a dude socked him first and didn’t realize he was touching some of the best hands in Orange county. Blew my mind he was sent to prison. No previous criminal record.

  125. Buc1987 Says:

    Yes LakeLand…poor Mixon.

We get you. It’s a racist thing.

    Typical.

  126. NFLNut Says:

I’d certainly rather have Cook than Mixon … but … I’d rather get Mixon in the FOURTH ROUND and spend the #1 pick on a guy like Corey Davis, OJ Howard, etc., than get Cook in the 1st round and a player who will be cut in training camp in the 4th round if I was a Bucs fan …

  127. Bucsfanman Says:

@87- Thank you! I’m glad there’s some semblance of sanity around here. You saved me a lot of typing!

  128. DallasBuc Says:

    Make Mixon a Buc

  129. Joeypoppems Says:

I’m not ready to say Mixon is the victim. I’m just not ruling out that this was an isolated incident and this is not the person he really is.

  130. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Grow allas some n@!s..

  131. captjimbo Says:

I don’t think we would be having this conversation if he had just pushed her away and walked off. That was a very violent punch with intent to inflict as much damage as possible. Overly excessive response. May have to take a pass and hope the guy can find the help he needs.

  132. 813bucboi Says:

@BLAKE, GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!LOLOLOL….ALL THOSE WHO DONT WANT MIXON, YOU SHOULDNT WANT COOK FOR THE SAME EXACT REASON…..

@nole…your boy has a history of assaulting women as well….the major difference is that it wasn’t caught on camera…..lets see you spin this….LOLOLOL….GO BUCS!!!!

  133. big serious Says:

Did any of you see OJ sporting a cleveland hat on the sidelines at the senior bowl? I was thinking “with the 12th pick in the 2017 draft the Cleveland Browns select O.J Howard..TE …Alabama”

  134. Joe Says:

I don’t think we would be having this conversation if he had just pushed her away and walked off.

Ding! The other stuff is petty, but piled on top of destroying a woman’s face, is very bad news and an ugly pattern.

  135. Bucsfanman Says:

Ouch Nole! 813 and Blake have a point! What is it with these guys punching girls?! Around the people that I hung out with that was grounds for an a$$-whoopin’!

  136. USFBUC Says:

@bucfanman still not justifying his actions just hate people that are so blind they aren’t even willing to listen to facts about a situation. People like you are why civil discourse is no longer possible in our country.

  137. webster Says:

Funny, I didnt know retaliating to an attack one time is considered a “pattern”. I thought that is called an isolated incident.

  138. USFBUC Says:

@everyone just got my wife’s take on it again and she said that the girl should have evaluated the person she was about to attack before she started swinging.

  139. rayjay1122 Says:

To everyone who is championing Mixon and using Trump as a part of their arguments are quite honestly grasping at straws. This had nothing to do with the President of the United States or racism, but if that is all you can use, then go ahead and continue showing the ignorance. I think it is the individuals who always cry racism are the true racists. Yes, I said it. Racism is not just from one race towards another. It is OK to dislike Trump. It is also OK to say that the girl used racist slurs and that is never acceptable. I agree with that much. I however, would not break a woman of any races face for calling me a name or for any other reason. She was no MMA fighter and I am sure Mixon could have very easily restrained her while someone got help from security. She made bad choices indeed but it does not excuse his final reaction. That has nothing to do with Trump or racism. It has to do with how misguided today’s young people are.

  140. LUVMYBUCS Says:

If this kid drops below the 4th round – I would be shocked.
Barry Switzer has scouted some of the most LEGENDARY backs to have EVER played the game.

    Examples(The Short List)
    • Walter Payton
    • O.J Simpson
    • Greg Pruitt
    • Joe Washington
    • Eric Dickerson
    • Billy Sims
    • Thurman Thomas
    • Barry Sanders
    • Adrian Pederson

….and on and on and on

So when he’s goes out of his way – to say something good about a particular running back….I tend to listen.

  141. Bucsfanman Says:

@USF- Still got to throw parting shots, eh?! I think you’re misunderstanding my ultra-simplistic point of view. Men should not be KO’ing women. Where’s there room for interpretation in that? I am not arguing any other points, just that.
By no means (I watched the video!) do I condone what she did. She was waaaaay out of line. I just feel like he should have walked away instead of knocking her out.
You have your opinion, which you are not willing to budge from as well, so touche on the discourse comment! Where is there romm for intellectual debate in a man knocking a woman out? Please enlighten me.

  142. Bucsfanman Says:

    *room*

  143. webster Says:

    @ray ray

Those who are comparing trump and mixon are not grasping at straws. You have a man who admitted to assaulting women and people like you turned a blind eye and voted for him to hold the highest office in the world yet you do not want this young man to play football. Thats not racist, thats hypocritical. Oh but I can understand why one would view it as racist. If you going to be supportive of women, then you cant pick and chose when you are going to support them based on your agenda.

  144. Buc1987 Says:

webster…50% of the country voted for Trump. That’s why he won.

  145. rayjay1122 Says:

    @webster

I do not have an agenda. I hate racism and I also hate men who think it is OK to bust up a female. Period. This has nothing to do with Trump. I do not like the things Trump has said and done and do not condone it. This is not about politics though or even racism. This is about a male athlete with superior strength battering a woman. It would not matter if Mixon were white or black, I would have the same stance. It also does not matter to me what color the woman was. If she was black, I would still be against Mixon’s actions. Use some common sense dude.

I personally along with many others, put my life on the line while serving this country overseas and I was not doing it for white Americans anymore so than my black comrades were doing it for black Americans. You see, when you serve something bigger than yourself such as your country, you do it for everyone regardless of appearance.

  146. Buc1987 Says:

webster…I suppose you voted Hillary? If so why? She’s no champion of women, having been cheated on multiple times by her husband with multiple women. I guess that makes her strong and someone girls should look up to. Stand by your man and all.

  147. Buc1987 Says:

rayjay…you served a country that’s far from united.

  148. rayjay1122 Says:

I do believe Mixon deserves forgiveness but has he asked for it? Has he admitted what he did was wrong? Seriously, I do not know what his mindset is. I just would prefer him not be on my favorite team.

  149. rayjay1122 Says:

87 unfortunately you are so very correct. Someone dear to me and many others said that a house divided can not stand. Unfortunately I think our nation is perishing slowly.

  150. Joeypoppems Says:

Yes he did rayjay. Everyone should watch or listen to his press conference before completely counting him out

  151. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Joey I haven’t been able to find mixons sugarbowl press conference. Could you maybe post a link?

  152. webster Says:

    @ ray jay

Again, i called it hypocracy that we vote this man in to a position that there is only one of, but tell this athlete he shouldnt be able to play. You keep bringing up racism. Maybe you should study your heart?

  153. Guzzie Says:

Rayjay1122….yes Mixon has a 30 minute press conference answered every reporters question, showed remorse, looked nervous as h3ll, didn’t come off as an arrogant a$$hole like Greg Hardy, it’s been reported after his court mandated anger management classes, he voluntarily continued going to therapy to deal with anger issues, frustration over a parking ticket that happens to everyone, passing along information he received about his draft status from his sources and making it sound like he got it from the committee isn’t a big deal

  154. webster Says:

    @ 87

I didnt know that being cheated on is the fault of the victim. I also didnt know trying to make your marriage work was a bad thing. Its called forgiveness or second chances. The same second chance that mixon deserves. I guess in the era of tinder and facebook, its easier to walk out on your marriage. Not everyone feels that way

  155. Buc 4ever Says:

I have been arresting people for worse actions for over 26 years and few if any lost their job or could not work anymore. He was a kid when this happened and deserves a second chance. It’s sad that people want to crush Mizon from being able to play in the NFL. Don’t forget she wasn’t too inno cent herself. No one is perfect and who is Joe to judge. Draft him!

  156. Joeypoppems Says:

    Press Conference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIoupXWhdrY

  157. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

First let’s get it straight that he was told by his agent that he was given a 1st round grade. I read that he wasn’t really sure what the draft board was. I can’t count that against him. I don’t condone his actions, but I do think that he deserves a 2nd chance.

  158. Buc1987 Says:

    webster…17 plus chances?

  159. USFBUC Says:

@bucfanman see this is the problem, I point out facts and you say “nah nah nah nah I’m right” that isn’t a discussion. All I did was point out facts you are the one who has said flat out that you refuse to listen to anything other than your opinion on it.

So lets look at it again.

I said, “So sick of the people trying to stand in their high ground while manipulating facts. If we are going to try and discredit somebody let’s provide real facts to backup claims.” I then pointed out several very real facts about the situation.

To the facts I pointed out you said “So USF, you’re OK with it? Perhaps you should introduce him to your sister then! The better man walks away, it’s that simple. And talk about the pot calling the kettle black! What difference does it make that she had a drug possession charge?! College kids with drugs?! Never heard that before! Real men don’t hit girls! Read again.”

See how in this interaction I was very reasonable, presented real facts and your response to my reasonable post was to assume I was okay with his actions. Then you spouted some nonsense and tried to put my sister who isn’t a druggie or criminal into the same situation as the girl in this story.

I then told you to get off of your high horse because you are trying to be a knight in shining armor when we are talking about his draftability. I went on to explain to you and other posters why her drug possession charge mattered. I also addressed his “lie” about his draft grade and posed some questions for people to think about.

You then brought the heat and logic with this post,

“OK, sorry, but I only need to know ONE fact: Did he hit her? USF, I was taught as a CHILD that you don’t hit girls/women. If that makes me “judgemental”, then I’m OK with that. Your post sounded a lot like you were trying to justify his actions. In fact, it still kind of does. I’m not here to judge him on anything other than hitting women. And, it’s my opinion. I will say it again, real men don’t hit women! You will not change my mind regarding this so don’t bother. I don’t think he should be black-balled for it, I just can’t bring myself to respect a man who hits a woman. Is that clear enough for you? I could care less where he gets drafted!”

When you posted this it was clear that you are not willing to listen to any facts outside of your preconceived notions. This is a sign of a closed mind so I posted that while I am still not justifying his actions you are part of the problem in the United States. I also posted my wife’s take on the situation.

You then made some more inane comments. I actually stated in this post and others that I did not agree with his reaction and felt he should have handled it differently. You however felt the right to force that on me. I simply asked for some reason and some good old fashioned honest discussion and you responded with “nah, nah, nah Ima only listen to what I have to say and Ima super good boy”.

See how you are the problem? I post facts about the case and you get on a high horse. I post why the facts you ignored are relevant to understanding the bigger picture and you respond with another silly post basically saying the same thing again.

  160. webster Says:

    @ 87

Not sure what point you are trying to make. If cheating is an issue for you then so be it. You voted for someone who actually did cheat 17 times on multiple spouces and it didnt bother you. Again you are validating my argument of hyprocracy.

  161. Joeypoppems Says:

So when did politics get involved in this? lol

  162. Blake_bucsfan Says:

@poppems Someone tried to compare Trumps “grab her by the…” debacle to Joe Mixons incident. And its been tit for tat since then.

  163. rayjay1122 Says:

Webster…..I know my heart without needing to study it. I am not going to argue with someone who doesn’t comprehend my points. We can just agree to disagree.

  164. Blake_bucsfan Says:

@Rayjay you’ve made plenty of solid points dude. And I agree that a man should never lay their hands in a violent manner on a women.

That being said, I also believe in mercy, forgiveness, and second chances.

I seriously recommend watching the press conference poppems posted.

  165. Trubucfan22 Says:

I wonder what the conversation at the table was before he hit her. Why did he go up to that table? Did he know those people? did they know him? I guess i could look into it. But really there is no reason to. The bucs should not draft this idiot.

  166. webster Says:

    @ ray jay

You didnt comprehend. You are talking racism when others are talking hyprocracy. You not once addressed the hyprocracy of it all and started straight on racism.

  167. Buccfan37 Says:

I listened to a few minutes of the Nixon apology. Well hell I reckon, with that big pot of money staring you in the face.

  168. Gencoimports Says:

He deserves a second chance, but I would not risk an early pick (1-2 round) on him even is he was a saint.

  169. USFBUC Says:

@trubucfan nobody knows what was said at the table other than the people there and their accounts are different. We do know from the video though that the young lady who got punched called Joe Mixon over to the table because she waves in a cone here motion as Joe Mixon is walking in. He then stands at the table in a very non threatening way for a few seconds before he starts to walk away. Things change at that point, Joe Mixon says something as he walks away and clearly looks at somebody off camera. The girl then pushes him from behind, Mixon turns around, starts to throw a punch but holds it, she hits him a time or two, he then punches her and knocks her into the table. He walks out her friends help her up, clean up the blood, and walk her out of the business.

  170. Buccfan37 Says:

He loves his mama and his big family. I think he gets drafted in the first two rounds.

  171. NFLNut Says:

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

No idea why TRUMP was brought into this debate, but I will say this … I did NOT vote for Trump (didn’t vote Hillary either) and yet I believe he is the absolute greatest thing to happen to American politics … ever.

No matter what happens in the future, the rise of Trump opened the average American citizen’s eyes to the FACT that the main stream media is anything but fair and unbiased and is in fact nothing more than puppets for globalist kingpins.

That anyone “American” with a brain could listen to Trump’s inauguration speech and complain is very hard for me to understand. Obviously the “American” President should put the safety and prosperity of America’s citizens “first” and ahead of that of citizens from other countries. But … most folks are little more than proles these days and simply parrot what the main stream media feeds them … it’s quite sad,

As for Mixon … I’d draft him as high as the 2nd round but absolutely would rather have him in the 4th and a quality 1st round pick than Dalvin Cook (who I love as a player) in the 1st and a garbage player in the 4th …

  172. Mike30#1bucfan Says:

I really think that Joe’s owe this kid and apology for this asinine article that they posted you don’t know what that kid was told by his handlers. You quoted one source and one source only for the basis of this article. Smh….. whenr writers turn into a moral police

  173. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Buccfan37

Won’t lie. The 1st time I watched it the size of his family was the 1st thing I commented on lol

  174. BigHogHaynes Says:

When I was a 20 something year old kid, whit woman slaps me in a bar ……. bar closed! End of story! I said when I was 20 something!

  175. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @mike30
It’s all about the clicks. Joe I must applaud you for finding ways to get massive conversations ( and clicks) going the past couple of weeks. You must be on track for 8 million views this year. Lol

  176. Not there yet Says:

Right or wrong doesn’t matter. People commit murder, do time in jail and then come out and try to make a living for themselves. If he is the talent everyone thinks he is then undrafted or not he’ll come into this league and if he never makes another mistake he could be big time and make big time money. Even if he does undrafted and gets on a squad the opportunity will be there. This is the exact same way we were able to get Blount as our running back but understood people are over the top because it’s a female. I’m not saying I want him on my time but what should happen and what will happen are two different things. Remember or receiver Mike Williams he was a POS and hurt the team. If he did sign him…. I think people are fickle and high on everyone else morals more than their own and he would be more forgiven than Mike Vick lol which isn’t saying much but he did get another big contract despite all the hate people had for him.

After buying a Doug martin jersey no way do I want this guy if I won’t wear Doug Martin his jersey would sell only to family members but he will get the chance to be a millionaire so get over it

  177. MadMax Says:

I dont know, throw a 5th at him if he’s still there….make it known one screw up and he’s cut.

  178. Larrywoods3 Says:

Joes, I really do wish y’all would stop calling this woman innocent as if she didn’t spit in his face or put her hands on him first. With that being said, I don’t agree with a man putting his hands on a woman, but let’s not act like she’s a damsel in distress because she should have been charged as well.

  179. Joe Says:

Joes, I really do wish y’all would stop calling this woman innocent as if she didn’t spit in his face or put her hands on him first.

Please let Joe know what offense a women commits that should result in her needing facial reconstructive surgeries (plural).

Going to guess most reasoned folks don’t believe spitting on someone should result in having to have one’s face rebuilt by doctors.

  180. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Going to guess most reasoned folks don’t believe spitting on someone should result in having to have one’s face rebuilt by doctors.

In Most cases – If you spit, than slap ANY human being – 9 times out 10.
You will get laid the F…K out.(Self-Defense)

As for as the “face rebuilt” claim

Haven’t those claims been proven false?

    *Reports are (That she lied)
-That she didn’t go to the hospital.
    -He didn’t break her Jaw.
-That she didn’t go need reconstructive surgery.

  181. LUVMYBUCS Says:

*That she didn’t need reconstructive surgery

  182. Xandtar Says:

Final round picks are throwaway picks anyway. Remember that Cowboys offensive tackle who was unfairly investigated and went from high first round draft grade to undrafted. The seventh round pick we didn’t use on him went to a person who was cut in camp.

If this moron is still around and we have a throwaway pick, we won’t lose much if he winds up still being locker room cancer and we have to cut him in camp. And if he doesn’t report, that’s on him, Canada beckons. He has too much talent to not waste a really really late pick on him.

  183. Bradinator Says:

Here’s my bottom line w/ Mixon. Sure he’s talented, maybe even 1st round talented. Will he get drafted there? No. No GM is giving this kid millions and eating the publicity that pick would bring. I’m going to say that it is true also for Rnd 2. Look at Lagarette Blount, he went undrafted for decking another football player who was obviously in his face. Guys with this kind of baggage don’t find the first round, Laurence Phillips was the exception. As to Mixon being a Buc, my strictly personal preference is no. Can’t get around what he’s done and for a team trying to get butts in seats , the pick isn’t good for that. Whether you think deserves a “second chance” or not, the situation and the baggage exists. Rbs are just not as valuable as they used to be, and there are other Rbs in this draft that will work for the Bucs needs. At the end of the day, it’s about the money. Would the Bucs be willing to eat the bad pub this kid will bring in the short term for possible long term gain? I can’t picture it. Pretty big gamble from a team perspective, especially when need isn’t dire. It’s there, just not a priority.

  184. Bucsfanman Says:

OK USF! How is this post not a “nah, nah, nah” on your part?
I appreciate your knowledge and statement of the facts in this case. You obviously did your research.
At no time in any of my posts did I dispute facts regarding this case. You took what I said as an indictment of my “closed-mindedness”. Frankly, I don’t care what you think, but I don’t wish to leave you with a bad taste or ill opinion. Your opinion is that I have a closed mind based on my belief that a man should never put his hands on a woman. If I am incorrect in this assumption, please feel free to retort. If this is in fact your presumption then you are correct. If it is your presumption that I am completely ignoring all the well-stated facts in this case then you are wrong. I simply don’t care enough about Mixon or anybody else that doesn’t pay my rent or put food on my table to discuss the nuances of where they will be drafted and why. So, if you want to keep talking down to people, YOU should understand the facts that YOU ignore. I’m sorry I didn’t give your research more credence. Keep up the good work!
