Grand Marshal Jameis

High honor

High honor

Yes, Joe has been a regular at the giant Martin Luther King, Jr. Day parade in St. Petersburg for many years.

Downing cold beverages in Straub Park next to The Vinoy resort and enjoying lots of bands has been a great ritual to help eradicate memories of a Bucs season gone bad.

But the parade was losing luster the last couple of years. So thankfully, it’s getting a big shot in the arm Monday.

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, will be the grand marshal, per the Tampa Bay Times, and A-list marching bands have returned from Florida A&M and Tuskegee University.

Major props to Jameis for sharing his time in what likely will be an all-day affair for him.

Presumably, Jameis will be in the lead parade car for the two-plus hour parade that will reverse its route, start closer to Central Avenue and end at Tropicana Field. The parade begins at 11 a.m.

Joe hopes Jameis rallies some teammates to join him in this great event. Joe could see this becoming a regular thing for Jameis and growing significantly bigger if the Buccaneers serve up resources in future years.

What a great way to celebrate America!

Thanks for the info Joe. Been awhile since I’ve seen a parade…I think I’ll have to check out #3 and the marching bands on Monday. Only a ten minute drive for me anyway.

I think even #3 would appreciate Dewey’s joke. One of the great things about #3 is he is very, very, very well aware of what he needs to work on.

It’s not Jameis, it’s the return of the Marching 100, but we still like Jameis
