Ugly Injury Report

December 9th, 2016

red cross

Four key members of the Bucs have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Saints.

Brutal!

Among those who will not suit up are wide receiver Adam Humphries, right tackle Demar Dotson, safety Chris Conte and tight end Luke Stocker.

Dotson and Humphries are in concussion protocol. Conte is still nursing a chest injury and Stocker has a bum ankle.

Evan Smith and Gerald McCoy are both listed as questionable Sunday, though both fully participated in practice today.

Not having Dotson is a plus not a minus… Step Up Mr. Huff

  2. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Next man up. I’m proud of our farm system. Elliot came in last week and held his own. Tmax I think Huff and that 4.45 speed is about to be a welcomed addition. He smoked our entire defense last season up in philly. When I realzed who we had aquired my eyes lit up.

  3. Couch Fan Says:

How did Dotson get a concussion? Dont remember him leaving the game last week. Coach K must of hit him upside the head with that big M@#%*# F@#$)& stick.

  4. pick6 Says:

Dotson has been a one of our worst starting linemen since the contract extension, but I think we will see Sunday that there is a reason he is still firmly ahead of Gosder Cherilus on the depth chart.

Missing humphries is unfortunate but we have his replacement in the return game and as a WR he’s not exactly going to be missed to a Mike Evans or even Cameron Brate level

  5. Philip Says:

Really dont see how this is brutual. Missing one or two guys like Evans, Kwon, Mccoy, Marpet, or Smith would be brutual. I am hoping the addition of sims and jaquizz in combo with kenny vacarro being out can make up for these injuries.

  6. Seminole Bill Says:

Time for Freddy Martino to step up (again). Losing Humphries is a big deal – he and Evans were our ‘over the middle’ pass-catching guys. having said that, this game will be won or lost on defense. If we get into a game trading scores with Drew Brees we’ll likely lose. Stopping Brees will tell the difference.

  7. James Walker Says:

Gonna miss that screen pass play that Humphries’ does so well.

  8. Defense Rules Says:

Losing Humphries will hurt because he’s great on 3rd downs, and losing Stocker will really hurt our run game & pass protection I think. I’m not a big Dotson fan admittedly, but losing him will hurt too because our OLine is running short of backups. Evan Smith is already hurting and Cherilus has been getting in the games as an additional blocker quite a bit (we’ll miss that if he starts for Dotson). Got a hunch McCoy will play his share of downs, even if still hurting, but have to wonder now if he’s even close to 100%. Not sold on Elliott as our nickel back … 176 lbs? Really? Saints look to be in much better shape than the Bucs right now, even though they’ve got several guys hurting also (including Ingram apparently with turf toe). If Saints run game is working, we’ve got problems (both Ingram & Hightower have had some excellent games this season).

  9. pick6 Says:

i like humphries, but his most important attribute is his reliability. For what it’s worth, i have yet to see russell shepherd or freddie martino fail to make a play when the ball comes there way, so we seem to be a lot more reliable further down the depth chart than in recent years

  10. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

    @James

Idk man, I am having visions of that exact play with Huff’s speed, or Sims, and we know how good sims is on those screen plays

  11. EA Says:

I don’t think Huff has developed enough chemistry to be much if a factor, maybe Simms can catch a few out of the back field, I think our RBs will be very involved in this game.

  12. Pickgrin Says:

Could be worse Joe – like if our entire starting Dline were out – or we were down to our 4th and 5th RB…. Been there – done that.

We are much healthier now than we were 3-4 games into the season

  13. Lokog Says:

It dont matter whos in n out grab your ballz and play its that time of year where the men are seperated from the boyz no excuses go out and hit them really f$#&i&g hard.

  14. BigHogHaynes Says:

Next man up! 4 games to play with 2 games to win to show improvement over last year’s team!!

  15. orlbucfan Says:

Some reports are saying the Hump practiced on a limited basis yesterday. Now, they are saying he’s out. I would rather have him miss a game than play with any kind of head injury. Aints are playing real coy with their injuries, but their center is beat up as is Mark Ingram and Michael Thomas. Ingram is a BOOGER and if he’s out, that will be YYYYYUUUUUUUGGGGGGEEEEEEEE!!!!!! I take it with a grain of salt. Every team is beat up at this point in the season. GO MIGHTY BUCS!!

  16. DB55 Says:

No worries, Jameis will heal them on Sunday. #Rejoice

  17. BucinJAX Says:

There is a BIG improvement over last year right now, even if some refuse to see the obvious. Nothing more needs to be done to prove we’ve improved. However, more will get done. Maybe then we’ll have heard the last of BHH’s idiotic math.

lots of people “smoked” our secondary last season, but know the play you’re talking about. I think he runs a 4.51 according to the combine, but all moot. Hopefully he can step in and perform after the lay-off.

  19. feelthepewterpower Says:

Brees rolled his ankle Sunday, btw, but finished the game. Will be interesting to see how it fares if the Buccs get pressure on him.

  20. Mojiska Says:

Which is bigger 7 or 6? Last I checked we have already surpassed last year’s win total…

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

None of these injuries should last more than this week….

Just think….exit Kenny Vacarro…….enter Freddie Martino.

    Next man up is working…

We need to use all of our RBs and run, run, run…..

  22. SteveK Says:

    Big hog,

2 more wins in 2016= 1 win better than 2014 and 2015 combined.

In other words, say we win only two more games that means Dirk is 9-7 and Lovie is 8-24.

Side note, Lovie was 3-8 in Illinois this year with the worst defensive completion % against in the whole B1G.

  23. SteveK Says:

Cmon big hog, it’s not even like Lovie’s HC record with the Bucs reached past two hands or 10’fingers.

In fact Lovie averaged a 4-12 team each year.

We are almost twice as good as our average wins per season under Lovie.

    Please keep talking nonsense.

  24. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I stand corrected feelthepower. But man o man was he moving. YouTube it its on there.

  25. unbelievable Says:

McCoy being back is great. We will still miss conte but I think our offense can hold its own this week without Dotson and hump. Saints defense sucks.

We just need to be able to hold their offense to under 20 points.

  26. unbelievable Says:

Could be our most important game remaining this season…

  27. SB with Jameis Says:

New Orleans has some ?s on the Injury report as well. Some key names
    http://www.nfl.com/teams/neworleanssaints/injuries?team=NO

  28. delson Says:

Dotson is a key loss. Go rewatch the chargers game bosa was getting yossed around the field. Gos is penalty machine

  29. PRBucFan Says:

    2 key members, at most

  30. Picaroon45 Says:

Joe: So what happened to the big concern over Gholston? He appears nowhere on the weekly injury report.

  31. BucTrooper Says:

I would say 2 key members. And one of those being out might prolong a couple of drives.

  32. Buc believer Says:

Since when has McCoy not been questionable?

Could be our most important game remaining this season…
    ……………….
“IS” actually. If we lose to the Saints, our 4 game win streak will be a ‘fluke’ as per usual with the Bucs. THIS Game we MUST have.

  34. SOEbuc Says:

Jameis and Doug have been on fire with those short dump off, large gain plays lately. If Sims comes back healthy I can’t wait to see what he can do with some of those check downs.

  35. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Man, I hope right tackle Demar Dotson’s replacement does better than him. I’ve never liked him as the RT.

Humphries is the only one I’ll miss out of that list. Stocker can block. Whoopie-do. Obviously we have others that can as well, seeing as how he is barely on the field each season. I like Stocker as a person…as a member of this team? Not at all.

  36. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @SB with Jameis

Those NO players are questionable, not out, so we’ll see how many end up playing.

  37. Poor Glennon Says:

Funny that when we have injurys while winning. The feeling is next man up. When we are losing we whine about injurys. Every team has injurys. I don’t ever blame injurys when we lose. That way i don’t except it from the opposing team. Like Seattle, they looked like such whiny lossers.

  38. TeddyB Says:

If only Aguayo was out and Humphries was in. I’m afraid he’s gonna lose us one of these last games.

  39. Roman05 Says:

    Teddy B lol savage

As far as the game…BRATE, BRATE, #maketampabrateagain

  40. Roman05 Says:

Agreed with Teddy B, Aguayo…..man I thought when Bucs picked this kid up it was a in the bag for the long game….but….idk, does anyone think Bucs should give him a chance or sever the relationship ?

  41. Mord Says:

You guys are quick to dump on Dotson, but perhaps you haven’t noticed how many offensive plays per game are made with Cherilus reporting as eligible … with Cherilus subbing for Dotson, this may move an often used (and successful) piece of the playbook beyond our better depth

Not saying it’s a catastrophe, but it will change things up more than just who’s at tackle

  42. Buc1987 Says:

BigHog reached the end of his rope and has nothing left except some cockamamie win total that shows improvement in his own mind.

Notice how no one follows up and agrees with him…
