Somebody Make A Play

Bucs cannot be only a two-man show.

The Bucs are two wins from a possible playoff berth. Maybe one win. But a whole lot of hope and prayer is involved with just one win and that makes Joe too uncomfortable.

But for the Bucs to make the playoffs, it has to be more than the Jameis and Mike Show, types Jenna Laine of ESPN.

In short, teams know if they shut down Mike Evans, if Doug Martin continues to plod along, then America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, has little to no options for the offense to succeed.

Why they won’t make the playoffs: The Bucs won’t make the playoffs if quarterback Jameis Winston isn’t given ample protection to make downfield throws. They also won’t make the playoffs if the ground game can’t get going to set up the offense’s play-action. They were limited to 52 rushing yards against the Cowboys last week, a season low. It doesn’t help if Mike Evans can’t get open. He has been kept out of the end zone for three weeks — his longest stretch of the season — yet he’s responsible for 40 percent of Winston’s scoring output this year.

With the exception of Jameis and Evans, the rest of the offense needs to wake the hell up!

Whoever is playing right tackle simply cannot deliver matador blocking and give left defensive ends a free and clear path to Jameis. Martin needs to start running like he did in 2015, not 2014. Adam Humphries needs to do more than flash once or twice a game. Whoever is playing opposite Evans at receiver needs to be more like a full-time NFL employee and not like the unemployed civilian they were two months ago.

Simply put, the Bucs on offense cannot just be a two-headed monster.

They need to protect Jameis and run the ball.

That will open up opportunities for every other Tom, Dick and Harry in that receiving corps.

    Playoffs start Saturday.

Best the Saints and move on to Carolina!

    Let’s f**king Go!

  2. Bama Rich Says:

Nick Fairly had a good game against us last time. He’ll definitely need to be contained or we can kiss the playoffs night-night.

  3. Kobe Faker Says:

    Tampa bay Giants

Better pray for Giants to win or our chances plummet for the playoffs tonight

Giants lose, Dallas is guaranteed division and bye tonight and Dal vs Det game will be meaningless for Dal

Detroit win over Dallas guarantees Det playoffs and last game vs Greenbay will only be for Division

Lets pray for Philly so the Dallas vs Det game will be meaningful for Dal

*Yikes, Betting line for Giants is now -1.5 from -2.5…not good

    E A G L E S!

  4. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Protection, Protection, Protection. That’s the key to this game, if Jameis gets the time he needs to read the field and deliver the ball comfortably and confidently, then we should win this game.

  5. Kobe Faker Says:

    Sorry

    LOL! pray for Giants Victory

    Sorry

    @ kobe

The bucs can clinch this weekend with a win and a lost of the packers, redskins and detroit. That means we are all vikings, bears, and cowboys fans this weekend as well. First the bucs must handle their own business.

“The Bucs won’t make the playoffs if quarterback Jameis Winston isn’t given ample protection to make downfield throws. They also won’t make the playoffs if the ground game can’t get going to set up the offense’s play-action.”….

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE NEED TO DRAFT A TACKLE IN THE FIRST ROUND!!!(useless a first round prospect like cam robinson slips to the second)…..a talented RT, a healthy and productive sweezy and marpet at center would solve both of these problems…..doesn’t matter if we get GMC some “MORE” help and jameis more weapons….if we cant open holes for the rb or protect jameis long enough to find his weapons, theirs no point…..PROTECT THE FRANCHISE….DRAFT TACKLE FIRST ROUND!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!

  8. Joe Says:

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE NEED TO DRAFT A TACKLE IN THE FIRST ROUND!!!

    Trust Joe, that won’t happen.

  9. mike Says:

“With the exception of Jameis and Evans, the rest of the offense needs to wake the hell up!”… The problem seemed to be Jameis Sunday night with plenty of open recievers. Also, can dirk ditch the run up the gut on 1st downs please! Swing the ball out to sims and bring quiz into the mix.

  10. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

I truly hope you are wrong about that Joe. A tackle is needed in a bad way. 813, Sweezy will never step on the field in a Buc uniform. You need to move on from that theory.

  11. Kobe Faker Says:

    web

yes we want dal to beat detroit

but if philly beats giants tonight, dal wont care about the detroit game monday because they are locked in with best seed tonight

*actually dallas wants to lose to detroit if giants lose tonight because giants will have to beat wash last game to make the playoffs

    detroit beating dallas hurts us

dallas would prefer giants not to make the playoffs

  12. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

The Giants already have 10 wins. They are almost certainly making the playoffs even if they lose their last two. No way Dallas or anyone else is going to stop that.

  13. Kobe Faker Says:

if tampa, atl and greenbay go 2-0, ny giants is out if they lose both games

  14. pick6 Says:

no run, no playaction. no playaction, no joy. gotta make the run game an actual threat again and the whole team will click

  15. Kobe Faker Says:

    tdtb

    sorry maybe im wrong

    no more from me. lol

    sorry bro

    lets beat saints. enough said

  16. Gilhealy Says:

it’s ok Kobe. Let’s just win ours and see what’s what. I do think G-men win tonite.

  17. webster Says:

    @ kobe

We do not want the pack to go 2-0. If they do, then the bucs won’t make the playoffs even if they go 2-0. We need to root for whomever play the pack ie vikings and detroit.

  18. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

    Not quite right Webster

  19. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

If the Lions lose to the Cowboys and then the Pack we are ok

  20. Phil Says:

We could have Michael Floyd except we forgot to submit a waiver claim for him.

  21. 813bucboi Says:

@joe…I hope licht proves you wrong…..if we don’t, I hope we get a tackle in the second that has first round talent and should’ve gone in the first round….

@touchdowtampabay….how are you so sure?….why hang on to a player that you know will never play for your club?….why not cut your losses?….I think he’ll be back…the question is, will he be productive?….GO BUCS!!!!

  22. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

And some are against my desire to go all inn for Cook next draft… This offense needs another playmaker plain and simple.

  23. webster Says:

    @ touchdown

Do the bucs hold the tie breaker over the lions?

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

@NoSBoS- The question becomes, who does he run behind? Our o-line isn’t good enough to warrant a 1st rd pick at RB. And that’s what I think it’ll take to get Dalvin.
It’s about protection and clock management mostly, but getting some additional plays elsewhere will pay dividends. Face it, teams will defend Mike and Brate and stack the box. They figured out that we don’t have much beyond that. In my opinion, it’s the run-game that will make or break us.
    Run Dougie run!!!!

  25. 813bucboi Says:

@nole…cook wouldn’t do anything but fumble and get injured behind this current oline…..

look at the 3 young qb’s that some people say are better than Winston…dak, carr and mariota….what do all three have in common….a very good oline….dallas has the best oline in the league….the raiders have probably the 2nd best oline followed by the titans who have at least less a top 5 oline…..jon robinson knew what was important when he got his franchise qb….got to protect him and open up running lanes….protection and a running game are a young qb’s best friend….drafting a talented tackle would provide both….GO BUCS!!!!

  26. dooshlarue Says:

…….or Dirk could have our Savior roll out and get a little creative and less predictable.
If the OL is in a funk……readjust.
Utilize Brate, Sims and Humphreys on some quick 5-10 yd. misdirection plays
DK started passing more on 1sr down against Dallas with a little success and he should continue to do that.

    Adjust constantly and win.

    Go Bucs!
